Default How much water?

I'm sorry I am sure this question has been asked before. I drink 4 - 16 oz bottles of water, green tea, and sometimes some juice mixed with selzer water. I have read so many different things about the amount of water you should drink. From 1oz. for every lb. you weigh (don't laugh I've read it). When I was about 255 lbs. I read that. To only worry about drinking extra water if your urine is dark in color. I already get up at least once sometimes twice to go to the bathroom and I don't want to get up three times but here it goes. HOW MUCH WATER DO YOU DRINK? DID IT CHANGE THE AMOUNT OF WEIGHT YOU WERE LOSING? THANK YOU IN ADVANCE.

Hi Sharon,

I usually aim for around 130 oz, but I am a fast drinker and it will also keep me from snacking, so it doesn't seem excessive for me. I don't think it's necessary to inrease or decrease your water intake with weight loss. I've also heard the 1/2 your body weight in oz figure

Here's an interesting article on water:

I shoot for 3 quarts a day (the size of my bottle) but i gauge it by if my urine is pale or not... if not i need more water. I'm 240 pounds now and I do find that the more I drink the more i lose...

Boy, have you asked the million dollar question. This has been debated so many times. Some people will swear that tons of water has helped them shed the weight and some people do just fine with just a normal amount.

I have heard that you should drink 1/2 your weight in water. That's fine if you weigh 150, but when you weigh 335...that's a whopping 167 oz a day!! I quit trying to push water on myself. I try and drink only 1 or 2 diet pops a day and the rest is water. I got tired of getting up in the middle of the night to pee.

Can you feel the difference when you are hydrated? I can, and I use that as a guide. Sometimes I'll drink water and immediately feel it go through my body, and I get a rush of energy. It's weird.

Some days I drink 64 oz, some days it's 80+, and some days it's only 16. I do try to shoot for at least 64 oz each day though.

I drink 320 ounces per day. Yes, you read that right. I am on meds for my kidneys. I am required to drink this much. It's fine though b/c I was on liquid restriction before this. I enjoy my water, and can tell if I haven't had enough. I'm pretty sure that's related to the meds, though.

Thank you all for your replies. I think I'll shoot for about 100 oz.

I drink a fair amount of water, I love to drink our rainwater. I generally have about 3-4 glasses before leaving the house in the morning, then I have about 6-7 glasses at work, then usually about another 4-6 for the rest of the day. Sometimes in Summer I have drunken as much as 5 litres of water in a day.

I actually had a medical student from France tell me I had a mental problem because I drank so much water. She actually found an article that said if you drink more than 3 litres (12 glasses) of water in a day it was a mental issue, can't remember the name of the condition I was meant to have. LOL I figured if she lived in a hot place like Australia she would be drinking heaps too.
