Thanks everybody for the kind words!

Hmm I don't really have too many tips.
I lost the weight slowly over a span of 2 years (I had an 8 month plateau at around 240 and another long plateau in the 220's)

I guess as far as anything I do alot of walking and bike riding (have no car) and eat better foods. I avoid any processed foods and frankly they don't even really sell any here in japan where I live. I prepare all my food from scratch, like homemade soups and things. I don't really eat out any because there is no restaurants in my town.

I have a problem with emotional and boredom and stress eating. So i try to stay busy. I work a full time job 8 hours a day then also a part time job 4 hours a day so I don't have alot of downtime.

I guess if I had to give advice, I would say eat the same lunch everyday. I eat a small side salad and some homemade soup. You can make a large batch of homemade soup and seperate it into single serving bowls and freeze it and then you can build up alot of lunches that way already prepared. Japan doesnt sell any low-fat, no-fat, sugar-free, skim, 2%, etc type of foods. Everything is "real" I guess you would say. All cheese and milk is 3.4% etc. So I dont think eating "diet" foods is really a key to losing weight. Just eating real foods that contain real nutrients.

I also like to have a snack in the evening of a cup of chicken boullion. One cube has 13 kcal or something like that so it's a nice way to go to bed with something warm and filling in your stomach without alot of calories.

Thanks Lewelaine for explaining how things worked out for you. That is what I am finally doing now too - cutting out the processed foods and sugars. I truely feel it is like a miracle how much better I feel. The weight is falling off right now and it has not been a struggle at all. I kind of envy you living where that junk food isn't even sold!! (but I am fine with it now, I do not crave it anymore!) It is great to read about such wonderful successes. I hope you keep stopping in to visit!!
