I need to know the points for the hamburger and taco seasoning. I used 4oz. of cooked meat. It was 80/20 mixture. Thanks for your help. I left my WW info on my desk at work. Don't want to eat too many points today.

4 ounces of 80/20 ground beef should be 8 points, since regular ground beef is 2 points per ounce. 93/7 ground beef (readily available here in the South) is 1 point per ounce, and the REALLY lean stuff 96/4 is 4 ounces for 3 points (or .75 points per ounce.)

I love the taste of the full-fat ground beef, but just don't like to spend the points. In most of my ground beef recipes I cut the meat in half and DH likes it just the same. Since I use less meat I don't feel as bad about paying the price for the lean hamburger meat.

Hope this helps!

Does anyone know how many points you can save by rinsing the fat off of browned ground beef under hot water? I know some people are fans of that method, but I'd like to know for sure how much is gained point-wise.

Thanks!

Default Ground Beef

Annie - I too have wondered about rinsing the meat. A answer on this would much appreciated.

Thanks!

Thanks for the information! I love the flavor of beef, and don't like to cook with ground turkey. It's good to know that rinsing/blotting will reduce the points of the cheaper meat! I'd rather not spend $4.49/lb on the extra-lean meat if I don't have to!
