Oh I am tired today. We had an absolutely beautiful weekend weather wise for the craft show. Usually it rains on Sunday. We did real well and yes Jerome was adopted to a new home. The crowd was huge - I understand the interstate was backed up for a while. I always like to see what other people are making. Naturally this year there was a lot of patriotic things. I had some old roofing slate that I painted flags on. Wish I would have made more. I painted a lot of little hearts with flags and made them into pins and they are gone. I had this old Uncle Sam suit that is child size. My mil gave it to me a long time ago. I made a thing out of dowel sticks and muslin and dressed it in that for decoration in our booth. I usually buy one thing for myself at this show. This year I bought a silver bracelet out of spoons. They cut the ends and hinge them somehow. They are unique and different. Now to get ready for the next 2 in November. Maria I would love to see a blue wren. I bet they are beautiful. My niece has bluebirds at her house in Kentucky. Is your hand sore from signing your name on all those charge slips from your shopping trip? I can't stay awake long enough to see Letterman or Leno. Are hats the big thing at the races? Ann I hope that the surgery goes well. These insurance companies just don't want you to stay in the hospital for any length of time. I just don't agree with that. Slavika how is that thing you are making for you know who going? What did your tree skirts look like? I made one in a class years ago. It is like the log cabin quilt pattern. It is made in velvets and silks. It has points on the end and a small ruffle on the edge. When you can't program something just ask the grandkids to do it. It seems like kids can do that stuff. My dh can only do the computer to play solitaire. He doesn't know how to get online but he is excellent with the remote to the t.v. Lily I think that crow likes you. We had a whole flock of them in the spring. They finally left. Did you see anything interesting at the craft fair? I like to know what sells in different parts of the country. I will have to check on the shipping but I know it is expensive. It is hard to get to my niece's mail room because of all the construction. It is over the bridge in Kentucky and they have been doing work forever on that part of the highway. If I can this week I will try to shrink them down a little. Well I have to go clean and do that stuff that didn't get down over the weekend. See you all later,

Maria: I dont think they are part of the same family. Ours dont have that big of a tail. Your bird is very pretty! That blue is awesome on him. Our Bluejays arent even that blue. Hes a very pretty bird!

Im with you, I dont get Letterman either. Never watch him. Alot of people do like him tho.

Ann: Im lazy to. Its easier for me to type in notepad while I read. Takes to much to add colors after that My DH and I dont like the same shows either. Very few I enjoy watching.

Peggy: No I didnt find anything to buy. Its was a real small one and not very many cute craft things. So I was pretty disappointed. Oh well this is the time of year for them, so Im sure I will be at others!
Yeah it probably would cost to much to ship as they are pretty big. Glad your fair was successful!

Slavika: Must of had a busy day to be so tierd. Course yesterday, I choose to be lazy and ended up taking a nap. Very rarely do that. It was nice!

Later!

Oh dear, oh dear, I just lost a complete post! I accidentally hit New Thread and I had written a great post, but lost it. Take it from me, you will never read a better bit of trivia. ALAS!

Summarizing - my toe is better, just black and blue with a wire hanging out of, actually working its way out. Pretty gross!

I hate smutty humor, like humor about body functions or body fluids. We are such a funny species, we don't have to rely on that to laugh, but tell Jim Carey. We need to laugh now more than ever!

Slavika - still patiently waiting for the tree skirt. ALAS!

Everybody have a great day!

Default ......rainy windy day

Hi Everybody Well gals, I saw the dentist today and he had a clear plastic duplicate made of my plate, with these 3 white lines running down the "gum line". This will be sort of his working model to show him where the screws/cylinders will be positioned in my jaw. Then over the next six months or so the implants and the bone in my jaw are allowed to bond together to form anchors for my artificial teeth. My appointment for the implants is on November 21st at 8:00 in the morning and it will take 3 to 4 hours.
Ann did your husband have his surgery today or is it tomorrow? Let us know how he is doing.
Glenda Yikes, you're waiting for a tree skirt too. It's to bad we don't all live near each other, then we could meet at each other's place and work on our Christmas projects together. That would be fun, except that Lily and Karen would probably still want me or Trudy to make one for them. LOL . Peggy the tree skirt you made sounds just lovely but I think you must be a very talented lady. Maria don't you see your doctor in the couple of days? How are you doing?

Well I guess that's it for me, I hope to see the gals tomorrow for tea time. I will have to think of some little goodie to bake. Talk to you all later. Night.

G'day all,

As you may have noticed I have decided to change my 'bargain hunter' avatar to my little blue wren.
As far as I can tell they are only in Australia, hence the name Australian Blue Wren.

Peggy Sounds like you had a very successful day at the fair. Your purchase of the silver bracelet sounds interesting.

Glenda don't you just hate it when you loose a well thought out post. Good to hear your toe is on the mend.
I went this morning to have xrays taken and on thursday I will be going to see the specialist. I just hope that the bone has fused . I asked the girl who took the x-rays but of course she would not tell me.
The place where I had the Xrays done is on a road which is just full of factory outlets for clothing, naturally I had to have a bit of a browse and bought some nice 3/4 white pants and a bright yellow and white striped top. Just the thing for the warmer weather coming on.
I also had my face 'de-fuzzed' (I know you were all dying to know this ), bought another book at a second hand shop and came home early afternoon. It is now just after 4, dh is in Sydney for a few days, I have had a shower, washed my hair and I am in my pj's feeling very comfortable!

Slavika Good to hear something is happening about your implants. My feet seem rather insignificant compared to the procedure you are having done, that is a very long process but I am sure it will be worth it in the end. Will you be under some sort of anaesthetic (spelling????) when you have this done on November 21?

DH has just send me an email from Sydney to let me know that we will be leaving Melbourne to go to Adelaide on January 17, wedding January 26 and then leave for Sydney January 30. Not sure how long in Sydney before the next move to wherever.

I might go and play a bit of canasta before warming up my left-overs from last night for dinner

See ya tomorrow
Cheers
Maria

Slavika: Me make a Tree skirt??????? To funny!!!!!

Of course I want you or Trudy to make mine. I want a tree skirt not something silly looking. And If I made it, trust me it would be a diaster! I will work on your computer while you make mine ok?
Your surgery on the teeth does not sound like a fun thing at all! 4 hours? Yikes! But it will all be better when it is over with.

Glenda: Glad your toe is doing so much better. The Black and blue will probably take a while to go away. It is a pain when you make a long post and it disapperas into cyberspace. ALAS.......

Maria: Love the wren by your name! Its such a pretty bird. I want you to send some over here, to my yard On the move again in Jan. I see.
Just dont know how you do it.

Later!

Default .....that works for me Lily

Lily boy if you lived closer to Trudy and I, we'd work our poor little fingers to the bone to have somebody show us "new stuff" on the computers.

Maria I just wanted to tell you that I don't think my implants will compare with the surgery you had on your feet. The Periodontist just freezes my mouth as a dentist would do when you get a root canal or have a tooth extracted. Apparently the implants are about as painful as those procedures. I think the big thing with this surgery is that the Periodontist must be very careful not to damage the nerves in my face/jaw when putting those screws in. I told him to get a good nights rest, before my surgery. I'm a little bit scared.....but I'm sure I'll be happy with the results when it's all done.

Good night everybody, talk to you tomorrow.

Maria I was just browsing through one of my favorite painting sites. It is an Australian site. I came across this sketch of a blue bird. Is it the Australian blue wren?http://www.nightowlcrafters.com/aa/vickiescr.html On the menu click on tips then click on painting.

Default ....we have snow

Hi Everybody Well I just looked outside and the snow is completely covering the grass....well my grandchildren will be excited tomorrow morning if the snow stays. Doesn't excite me too much though.
Did the shopping/lunch thing with my friend today, and we had a nice day in spite of the bad weather.
What are you all up to, the board is very quite tonight. I taped some new music to encourage me to walk longer on the treadmill. I have to really put in some effort if I am to get back to my goal weight. RATS, it's always such a struggle.
Maria I guess tomorrow you go to see the specialist. I'm sure everything will be just great. Peggy today I saw a cute little painted sign in a craft store that said, "For faster service, please press button"..............the "button" was glued on the center of a mouse trap. I have a little painted sign in my kitchen that my sister in-law gave me a couple of years ago that says, "I can please only one person per day. Today is not your day. Tomorrow isn't looking good either." It was simple to make, so I made up one and gave it to our WW Leader.
Good night all.

Default Good news...........

I know you will all smile to yourself and say 'I told you so'!!!!!
I went to the doctor this morning and he is quite amazed how well I am doing. I have one problem, he assures me it is minor, and that is the scar tissue where my neuromas were removed. This is where I have most of the discomfort and prevents me from walking for any length of time. I will now have physio once a week where this area will be massaged. I was told it will probably be about 6 visits before it is really good.
I am very pleased and it is good to know whatever I do, I cannot do any damage.

Peggy What a great site, I will have to have good look around. Lots of interesting stuff.
The bird is not a blue wren, it is a kookaburra, a member of the kingfisher family. Again I am not sure if they are only in Australia. I used to have them in my garden in Adelaide, they are not quite as blue as illustrated (at least not the ones I had in my garden) they are about as big as a crow and they make a sound like they are laughing, hence they are also called the laughing bird. They love fresh mince meat and can become quite tame.
There 'laugh' is very loud. There is a children's song and the words are:

Kookaburra sits in the old gum tree
Merry, merry king of the bush is he
Laugh kookaburra laugh,
oh how gay your life must be.

It does show how old the song is, once upon a time the word 'gay' meant just that
I am sure you have all found this rivetting information When next you are at a dinner party and there is a lull in the conversation, I am sure this will come in very handy!

Slavika It has been a bit quite on the boards, everyone must be very busy.
I so agree with this continual weight struggle, there never seems to an end to it.

DH is home tonight. He has been a bit down lately but he had a very successful few days in Sydney albeit very hectic.
It is amazing what a bit of positive feedback can do for the old morale

I must be off and have a look at Peggy's site she posted.

Cheers
Maria

Default ...........Great!!!!!!

Maria, GREAT NEWS...... I am so happy for you. Some physiotherpy, and you will be walking and dancing up a storm.

Did you gals ever realize that men and woman worry differently. Last week, the telphone compnay was doing some work in my area and some how managed to disconnect my phone service. It was out for a 1-1/2 days. A friend had tried calling me, and although the phone would ring, it would not ring in MY house nor of course would my answering machine pick up the call. After trying serveral times to reach me, she decided I must be in the hospital. LOL. She phoned again, the next day just after 5:00 thinking she would get my DH and would ask him if I was indeed in the hospital. I said to my DH, if you tried and tried to reach someone by phone, who normally had their answering machine on and they didn't answer their phone and you couldn't leave a message what would you think happened. He said, "well the guy could be out of town and turned his machine off or his phone wasn't working".

I had a good walk on the treadmill this morning, and now that I have cooled down, I will go outside and feed my poor little birdies and squirrels, and head for the shower. The snow did stay on the ground, not much, and just really WET.

Talk to you all later.

Maria: Great news on the toes! I dont know if I could handle having mine massaged tho. I think I would probably laugh all the way through it. My feet are real tickish.

Slavika: Snow??????? Yuck! Dont envy you! Pretty funny about your friend! I think it would worry me to though. Hi Kyle!!!!! What doing?

I cant believe people sometimes. I was driving to work and these 2 idiots were fighting for space on the road. One just had to be in front of the other. The one guy did spin out and ending up over on the other side of the road. They were right in front of me. And he almost hit me.
Good thing I was alert to it all. When I saw it getting worse I slowed down and backed way off. If I would of been closer he would of hit me. Just makes me nervous.

Lily - I am so glad you are cautious! From what I hear about the freeways there is a lot of road rage in your area. Just keep being cautious!

Slavika and Trudy - SNOW? It is just Oct. 25th! Does that bode a bad winter? I can get depressed just thinking about snow. Maria, you are at the start of your summer and that sounds so much better than where we are--at the start of our winter! Hey, congratulations with the feet! You are through the hard part. Now all you have to do is lie back and let someone massage your feet for you!

I go to the doctor tomorrow. I am hoping he will take the wire out of my toe. It looks gross, but it is straight!

Talking Good News

A great day. Brough my dh home from the hospital yesterday. He is doing well. A visiting nurse stopped by today, andshe also said he is doing well. He is just experiencing discomfort, but we are told that is nothing unusual for the 'rotor-rooter' procedure.

Slavika: Snow. Yuck. Glad we don't have to do that any more. Your dental work sure sounds extensive. Good luck to you with the whole thing. I sure can identify with the struggle to get back to goal. Neverending.

Maria: Great news. And hope you like to have your feet massaged. Also there is a great whirlpool foot bath that is wonderful.

Glenda: Good news about your toe too. Does the wire come out all by itself?

Lily: Road rage is so dangerous, and also so ridiculous. People are hard to understand. Get behind the wheel , and take their lives in their hands, without any thought to others around them. Please always be just as careful as you were this time.

Hi everyone. Karen, Trudy, Peggy.

I just realized that the post I wrote yesterday never made it to the thread. Wonder why? Anyway we are home and doing well.
See you tomorrow. Ann

Default I just had the best day.......

I had to go into town to do some chores (paying bills etc), I was in town but half an hour and it really started to bucket down. What is a gal to do but stay out of the rain and do a bit of shopping
I bought a nice pair of navy pants and a great top, I then had a coffee when I noticed there was a fashion parade on. Finished the coffee, got myself a seat and watched the fashions. Nothing that would fit me but just lovely to watch some beautiful fashions on some beautiful models.

I then went to look at some shoes.........I have been told that 'Ecco' walking shoes are very good but they are extremely expensive (over $200 ), well there just happened to be a pair of last year's model (and who would care) reduced to $119 and then further reduced by another 25% , we also get a further discount because we have shares in this department store, so how could I have possilby left them sitting there, it was practically a give away At this price I am happy to try them out and if they are as comfortable as people tell me, I won't mind paying full price for the next pair in 4 years time!
I am right in the swing of it again and loving it

Ann good to hear your dh is doing fine, I won't ask what a 'rotor-rooter' procedure is, it doesn't sound pleasant

Glenda I am starting to believe you that I will be very pleased with having my feet done. Pleased your toe is now straight. We shall compare feet if ever I was to get to America for a holiday (or if you were to visit Australia)

Lily that must have been frightening having a couple of idiots behaving like that on the road and there is nothing you can do. Road rage must be prevalent all over the world Just you take care.

slavika Snow so soon, you must have an awfully long winter. Weather here is a bit crazy as it often is in spring, warm weather forecasted for the weekend

DD and fiancee are coming to dinner so I had better start getting a bit organised for that. DD is been having Uni exams and has been a bit stressed out. She received a 'high distinction' for one of her exams today so I bought her a box of her favourite Lindt chocolates on the condition she takes the box unopened home

Hi to everyone, hope everyone is well
Cheers
Maria
