Default The Cardio-Free Diet by Jim Karas (Weight Lifting)

I posted this over in the Calorie Counters Forum, but I guess I should have posted it here. Thanks in advance for any feedback...

Is anyone familiar with this book?

I have it, and I've just started reading. I'm not interested in his diet, because I am following a calorie counting plan based on guidelines from the book Fat 2 Fit, but I AM interested in his premise that weight lifting is more important than aerobics. I've read some stuff on this, and I believe it.

I am very out of shape, and when I get done reading his book, I will definitely start a weight-training program. It's a little scary, since I haven't lifted weights in over 20 years!

Has anyone read the book? Any advice for easing into a weight-lifting program? I'm thinking with my non-existent strength, maybe bands/cords are the way to start. We'll see what he ends up recommending for someone like me.
