I saw that one, Mel, but it was $160 at our SA. My ds is gone to his dads for a few days, which means no homeschooling, so I plan to use that time to check out the local pawn shops and thrift stores, and will keep an eye on craigslist and freecycle, too. If I wasn't saving to get my van repaired, I wouldn't mind paying 100 bucks for a bar and weights, but until I get past that hurdle, I just can't spend that kind of money. Originally, I'd just hoped to find a bar to use with the weights I have, since I have quite a collection of standard weights (I use them for the weight pulling dogs to drag around), but couldn't find just a standard bar by itself, at least not one that came in less than 3 pieces, lol. Looks like Sears might be a good option, if I do end up needing to buy a set new, but I'm going to hold out a while longer for a used bargain...I know for sure there's some fool with a perfectly good set rusting in his basement, just have to find it!
