Yes, alcohol does have calories, but the amount that can be converted to fat is insignificant.

ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/10539756

In that study, less than 5% was converted into fat. To put that into perspective, 20 shots of bourbon would be 1,400 calories. If 5% are converted into fat, that's only 70 calories. However, I'm guessing the conversion would be even less for most people as 20 shots would probably induce vomiting.

Bumping this thread because i love it - plus it's drinking season.

I've been keto/exercising, religiously, everyday during the week and carb loading/drinking my face off on the weekend.

Go to drinks of choice are:
  1. Kraken Rum(very strong) & Pineapple/Coconut water enhancers(assorted)
  2. Vodka w/club soda & lemon/lime
  3. 2 Glasses of Red w/Saturday night steak
  4. 1 Beer w/Saturday night steak

It's been working but it's a really hard week of exercise if i have too much fun with the carbs on the weekend. After reading this thread i think i'm going to try saving calories to cover the drinks and try to keep bad foods separate from the drinks. I consider myself lucky to not have beer cravings like some buddies that were successful with VLC diets but ballooned when they went back to beer.

Stick with the spirits. End of story.
Cheers.
