I have changed the same way, and it's not just me who's noticed. People at work talk about my wardrobe and hair and makeup ALL THE TIME. Mostly it's fine, though sometimes it gets a little overwhelming. I haven't seen my parents in several months, and when they came up for Thanksgiving this year my mom said, "You dressed up!" when I walked into my sister's house for Thanksgiving. My sister said, "No, that's just how she dresses now." I didn't think it was such a drastic difference, but apparently everyone else does!
I just enjoy shopping now. And if I'm going to put all that money into my wardrobe, I might as well take the time to do my hair and makeup. I still have a decent amount of weight to lose, but there's a great thrift store by me so I can dress well without spending a fortune every time I go down a size.
I guess for me it's about taking more pride in myself. Also about being less invisible than I was when I was morbidly obese.
