Michelle - Congrats on the loss! Sounds like a busy evening coming up. Do you have any specific plans when you're on vacay?

WAY TO GO MIS SHELLEY!!! CONGRATULATIONS ON THE WEIGHTLOSS. GREAT NEWS. I AM SURE WHEN YOU COME HOME FROM VACATION THAT LITTLE ANNIE WILL FIND SOME TORTUROUS IDEAS TO KEEP THE SCALE GOING DOWN!! SEE??? SOMETIMES IT'S GOOD TO BE IN MY WHEELCHAIR

LAURA...THE PICTURE WAS GORGEOUS AND I JUST SET IT AS MY DESKTOP FOR A SUMMERY CHANGE. THANKS. I WOULD LOVE TO HAVE THIS AS MY BACKYARD!!! SO WITH THE BOSS AWAY THE MICE WILL PLAY????

ANNIE....NEXT TIME TELL THAT DUDE "SO SAD, TOO BAD"! AND THEN KEEP ON WALKING (I am getting so mean in my old age)

HAPPY....HOW DID THE DAY GO?? I WAS THINKING OF YOU AND JEN ALL MORNING. HOPE YOUR NEWS WILL BE OK AND NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT. PLEASE KEEP US POSTED. BELOW IS JEN'S NEWS OUR BATTING AVERAGE IS FALLING SHORT IN NJ!!!

WE'RE HAVING A SUNNY END TO A VERY HOT HUMID AND CLOUDY DAY. THEY CALLED IN A CONSULT FOR JEN. THEY CHANGED THE MEDS AND SHE IS SHOINGSIGNS OF BEING ON THE MEND ACCORDING TO THE NEW TESTS TODAY. THE PAIN IS FROM A HERNIATED DISC...THUS THE NEW CONSULT TODAY. THEY DIDN'T WANT TO TELL HER OVER THE PHONE. THEY'RE 99% SURE IT'S THE DISC. SO...SHE CANNOT TAKLE THE PILLS THEY USUALLY USE, CANNOT GO TO THE CHIRO, CANNOT DO THE PT EXERCISES...WHAT'S LEFT?? LOTS OF SLOW WALKING, HEAT & COLD COMPRESSES AND PLENTY OF REST BUT NOT BED REST. COULD TALE UP TO 6 MONTHS TO HEAL AND IF NOT THEN A SURGEON WILL BE CALLED IN BUT SHE OPTED TO GO TO OUR OWN HOSPITAL IF & WHEN THE TIME COMES. YOU HAVE TO KNOW I AM PRAYING LIKE A MOTHER FOOKER AND HOPING THE BIG MAN UPSTAIRS CAN HEAR MY PLEAS. RICHIE AND I WILL TAKE GOOD CARE OF HER AND HOPE FOR THE BEST.
OTHER THAN THAT....ALL IS WELL IN MY CORNER OF THE WORLD (INSERT MANIACAL HYSTERICAL LAUGHTER HERE).
ON A GOOD NOTE. A FRIEND TOLD ME ABOUT A WOMAN NAMED ELLIE KRIEGER WHO WAS ON THE DR OZ SHOW. SHE HAS A WEBSITE BUT IT COSTS $$....INSTEAD I BORROWED BOOKS FROM THE LIBRARY. JUST GOOD HEALTHY AND PLAIN EATING. SOME NEW RECIPES TO ADD TO THE KIDS COOKBOOK ALONG WITH THE LAST ONE FROM THE LAND OF OZ. IT KEEPS US BUSY!!
SENDING LOVE OUT TO ALL THE CHICKS

Afternoon to all the worldies.
Just got back from Jonesboro and I'm safely tucked in my humble abode.
The MRI was good only showed that my turbinators were enlarged. I laughed too. Had to ask what they were. The ENT was in a different state of mind today and I think I could have gotten away with out surgery. He even asked me if I needed Sudafed. He must of had a bad day last week. Surgery for the turbinators will be on the 24th of June. This week he told me that the septum was not bad enough for surgery.
On the way to Jonesboro I kept watching this wall cloud. Unfortunately I had to drive through it. It rained so hard that I had to pull off the road. It rained in Jonesboro while I was in the ENT's office.
Also did a couple of errands, went to Barnes and Knoble. Didn't realize that books now came in large print so I bought one of Nora Roberts. I think that's why I don't read as much. The print is to small. and stopped by JCPenny's salon to get my hair cut.

Michelle
on the 1.8 pounds lost this past week. Isn't it amazing what all things we have to accomplish before going on vacation. And what a nice compliment from the DH.

Annie
Glad to hear the arm is getting better. You may have to look for your new improved son when he comes home. Wow, 70 pounds gone. Maybe we should all join the military! i feel better when I'm on a low carb diet. I don't have the will power to stick to it.

Happy
Hope the spot on the xray is nothing. I'm getting tired of going to the doctor's too.

Mel
Sad news about Jen, but mom and DH will take care of her.

Shad
Glad you are feeling better also. I like the name Penny Penguin for a girl or Peter Penguin if it's a boy.

This is the third time I have attempted to write and post this. Work just keeps getting in the way. Geez darn it. Can't you go away for a couple of minutes Pete??

Mel - Hope Jen is starting to feel better. Disc problems suck. Get over it real fast Jenifer. Did you get some good shopping in at Trader joes?? Letter got sent. I got told off for putting the domestic stamps on - since they included GST, so out came the calculator and add up the stamps, take off the gst, put on the proper price and gimme another 1.75 tah! Some great stamps on that envelope. Hope you know someone who collects the things.

Happy - much as I would like to have a mini Butchart. It aint going to happen in this lifetime. Geez I would love to go back to that place. We need to organise a worldly reunion in that garden. Might have trouble getting Annie out of the gift store! and Laura by the sound of it. I can just about smell the roses from here.

Annie - like I said, call the penguin whatever. He probably won't come when he is called anyway. Not long now till the baby boy arrives. You'll be one happy chick when that happens.

Laura - have the deck chair all sorted and will be watching the show on Sunday. DS2's fence is up and the tenants sign the lease today. So my fence has to go up Monday or Tuesday, since the brickie is booked for another house for the next couple of weeks.
The round up of news was actually meant to be amusing, but I think we are all conditioned right now to bad news. There are a lot of idiots out there.

Ceejay - when will the medics stop thinking up stupid names for simple things. I think they just like to have to repeat themselves several times so they can prove they are brighter than us.

Michelle - well done on the weight loss. Hope it keeps on coming now that you seem to have gotten over the strange plateau. Not long to go now for the Californian holiday. Are you sightseeing or just meeting up with friends and family. A couple of years back Carla (yep the ever lurking Carla49 who is probably reading this as we speak) and I went down the Big Sur from San Francisco and had a lovely time. I was just looking at the Monterey photos the other day and remembering the aquarium and the lovely time we had there. Must be time to go back I guess. One day.

Anyway, I'd better get out of here and look for some doco.......A day in the life of.........Inventory Storemen. Sounds like fun.

Good morning ladies,

I have to get to work early so little time to sit at the computer.

Mel - glad you got a good night's rest - you sound chipper this morning. I feel so badly for Jen and her back. Can't imagine dealing with it without meds. I suppose accupuncture is out for her too. You can go crazy over that pain.

Michelle - congrats to you on the pounds down this week. I'm glad you are seeing a victory beyond just feeling good. Vacation is almost here.

Ceejay- turbinators sounds like wind machines Seriously, I hope your surgery goes well.

Laura - Butchart Gardens is one of the prettiest places I have ever seen. I recommended it to Shad and she got to see it the second trip over this way. A reunion there would be lots of fun!

Shad - sounds like they nabbed you for a time crunch project yet AGAIN. Hope you are feeling better. What I have is still lingering and worse than the cough is the exhaustion.

Annie - I completely agree with you on what sugars and carbs do to us - it's just so subtle we don't notice until we stop and oh how hard to stop. Hope you have a great night out tommorow.

Looks like we took our beach vacation just in time. It appears the oil is hitting the area now. What a freaking mess

I'm on the run - happy Friday!

Happy Friday my friends -

Thanks for the kind words about my weight loss!

The countdown continues....just two and a half work days (four and a half days total) until vacation I've got a list of things to pack...but not packed yet. I'm going to have to skip Zumba class tonight because I've got lots of cardio cleaning and cardio laundry to do (and yes, laundry is cardio since I have to go up and down the basement stairs several times carrying loads of wash). I also have website work to do (not very aerobic).

Since I used to live in California and have done most of the sightseeing type stuff, I'll be focusing on enjoying time with family. Last time I was there was a short visit for my mother's memorial service in Jan. 2004. I did many trips in 2003 to see my dad (in northern CA) and mom (in southern CA) as they were going through Stage 4 cancer. It's quite nice to be going back to CA for a true vacation and a happy time.

My sister asked me for a list of places I'd like to go, so I sent one. I think she's surprised that I didn't include the usual big amusement parks...but honestly, I just don't think I could get $70 worth of fun out of one day at an amusement. Last time I went, it was approx. $35, and it was worth every penny. I'm just not that into it now. So I've asked her if we could go to the Grammy Museum in LA (http://www.grammymuseum.org), Descanso Gardens near Pasadena (http://www.descansogardens.org) and to a Sidewalk Chalk art festival in Pasadena (http://www.pasadenachalkfestival.com) - I've seen photos of this artwork online and it's AMAZING!! And even though I felt a bit uncomfortable about this...I sent her a list of my new favorite foods...so either she can get them or I can when I get there. Things like Egg Beaters, whole wheat bread, LOTS of veggies. I also explained how well I've been doing on Weight Watchers and that I really like my new eating/exercise habits. I told her that no food is off limits, but I can have more of some foods than of others.

As for the San Diego leg of my trip...my goal is to walk on the beach at least once and preferably once per day, to check out a Zumba class there (if possible), and to go either hiking or kayaking with my cousin. On the first Saturday that I'm there, my sister and her family are driving down and we're going to have a big family gathering at my aunt and uncle's. Then I'll ride back to my sister's place with them.

I'm also flying up to Northern California for a couple days to see my step-mother. I haven't seen her since her trip out here about 4 or 5 years ago, so I'm looking forward to seeing her!

Mel - So sorry to hear about Jen's back issues. I've never had a herniated disk (thank God), but I've heard they can be excrutiatingly painful even when you can take meds and do PT. I'm sending lots of healing thoughts her way and keep her (and you) in my prayers. Thanks for posting the Walking on Sunshine lyrics. I just LOVE that song! There's no way to listen to that song and not be happy. Now I want to get up and dance since the song is playing in my head! Glad you already got out for a ride this a.m.

Ceejay - I had turbinate reduction surgery about 18 years ago, and they also fixed my deviated septum. As best as I can understand it, it's the tissue/lining of your nostrils. They can do the reduction surgery so that even when they well due to allergy/sinus issues...there's more room for stuff to drain. I won't lie to ya' though. It is painful. And you have to take it easy for quite awhile. You will likely have cotton shoved up your nostrils for several days after surgery (at least that happened to me). Sending you lots of hugs and prayers.

Shad - Butchart sounds just lovely. Maybe I'll get there one day. Big Sur, Monterey and Carmel are lovely. But I don't think I'll get there this trip as I'm only going to be up in the SF Bay area for two days.

Happy - You're right...it's great to have a victory on the scale, in addition to the wonderful NSV of feeling great. I was thinking yesterday that even if I may be a bit heavier than the last time my family saw me...I am DEFINITELY more tone AND in much better cardiovascular shape.

Annie - Hope you have a Fabulous Friday!

Here's to a great day and weekend for all of us!

Lots of love and hugs,

Happy Friday ladies!

Shad - Hope you don't have to get hands-on with the inventory again - I remember you talking about those carbon brushes, and a ladder incident! Hope you're enjoying your weekend.

Mel - Sorry to hear about Jen's herniated disc. I must have missed why she can't have meds or PT... is that a temporary thing? Sounds like you had a nice ride this morning. Thanks for the nice graphics!

Ceejay - There you are! Glad to hear that the MRI results were okay. Never heard of turbinators! (Thanks Michelle for the explanation.) I'll be sending good vibes on the 24th! Sorry you had to drive in such horrible rain. Bf and I drove through that for a brief period the other night - hate that!

Happy - Sorry you're still suffering the effects of your bug! I'd definitely love to see Butchart Gardens someday - that whole area of Canada, actually.

Michelle - Sounds like you've got tons on your plate for California. It's nice you're going there solely for pleasure purposes! The gardens and the chalk art fest should be wonderful. Enjoy!

Hey Annie! Have a good weekend.

TGIF! Last night I took a brisk walk w/ doggy by the creek and did one BE show. It's day 4 of my paper food journal. I definitely prefer it to the computer. No exciting plans this weekend. I'd like to do some gardening, but rain is forecast for part of the weekend. Wish me luck w/ the aqua fitness class, LOL.

Not much to report today.
Went to visit with my friend who owns a furniture store. While visiting with her the nurse from the cardiologist called to tell me my lab results. He's concerned with my cholesterol, hdl to low, ldl to high but in the normal range. I'll have another other consult with him after the stress test this coming Thursday. I almost laughed at the nurse when she said that he wants me to increase my exercise but not until after the stress test. My potassium was a little low also. I reminded her that I did take a fluid med.
my friend had not eaten and neither had I so we went to eat. I had a baked potato, salad and white beans with cornbread. yummy.
Also went to talk to L at work. I've filled her in on my MRI and I filled out a vacation day for my surgery. Since he is not going to do the septum he told me I could go back to work on Monday. I have faith in him so we'll see if i need more time off from work.

Mel
It's been a long time since we've heard you singing. That's nice to be in a good mood. Sunshine does a body good in more ways than one. I know what my uncle has been through with back pain. He was miserable. I can feel for Jen in that way.

Michelle
Good for you in telling relatives that you are doing WW. My sister's will oblidge me when I visit them.

Annie
Sounds like you have a fun week end ahead of you.

Happy
What did you breathe when in MS? Hope the doctor finds out what it is.

Laura
how is your foot doing today? I get bored with riding my bicycle but it does save on my feet and knees. I haven't been journaling as much on 3fc since I've moved my blog to blogger.com.

Shad
Sounds like you are feeling better.

Evening all,
Been a glorious day here, but I didn't achieve much. Felt lousy for much of the day, but after a nanna nap around 2 I started to feel a bit better. Still wasted half of my precious time off.

Not much happening here, I'll have to think up some gossip and will be back in the morning. Happy Weekend
