Hi all! Thanks for the good wishes for DH - he was fine, just needed a day to rest and recharge. So what did we do? Went shopping! Cost Plus was have a big sale, so we bought a coffee table, and we are going back tomorrow for a new table and chair set for the kitchen. The timing is perfect as we are going have a new floor installed in the next few weeks. We can keep the new furniture in the boxes and assemble it after the new floor is down. In other reno news, we have ordered the doors. It's getting so close! I really want to get our stuff out of storage and settle in to the new space.

Welcome Back Susan NYC! And WTG on the weight loss! Sorry you were ill, but it sounds like you are feeling better and making healthy choices. How's New York? Do you like living there? Are you in Manhattan or in one of the other boroughs?

Cristina - hope the realtor showing went well. The good smells tip is a good one, but be careful about overdoing it. My DH and I went to a showing once where there were candles in every room. I thought it was nice, but my DH was suspicious - he thought it was masking some other odors they didn't want us to smell. Hopefully you won't get a suspicious-type like my hubby coming through your house, lol!

Jules - hi to you, too , girly! Hope you had a good day at work. Are you going to sign up for knitting lessons? I put up my "Works in Progress" on my blog, but haven't posted too much this week. I really need to get a better camera to be a good blogger.

Susan
- I'm with Cristina - I don't know if telling Gaby is good or not. If there is a way to tell her that is to just let her know the basic details, without scaring her, I'd say tell her. But if she's freaked out, they will never get the IV in her. This happened with Leigh when she had to have a blood draw. I had a similar experience with Leigh, with her 5 yr check-up, which comes with LOTS of shots. I did tell her in advance, but really tried to emphasize the getting checked out part and how nice it is to be healthy and how vaccinations keep us from getting really sick.... if Gaby's had lots of icky sore throats you could emphasize how those would be going away and she will get to eat lots of ice cream. There has to be a Sesame Street or Arthur episode somewhere..maybe the library might have one she could watch.

Sassy - I'm glad your back is feeling better today. I could really relate to your post, as I have been feeling hit by a Mac Truck lately. I am tired of my body hurting everytime I try to be active. I, too, was in a car accident in 1991, and it seems as tho' the back problems from that never really go away, particularly when I am overweight and out-of shape. I feel as you do - that I am not giving up! I know what it feels like to be lighter and healthier and in good shape and I want that back again!

Kathy - oooh - Brazil sounds like fun! I'll bet he is looking forward to some warm weather.

Michelle - glad to hear the Oreo is doing better...I just love the pics on your posts - what a little cutie-pie.

As I mentioned to Sassy - I am tired of aches and pains. If I exercise, I tweak my knee. If I don't exercise, my back hurts. I just can't win So today, I decided that 2007 is the year I treat myself well. Our health insurance has a complementary plan that provides some coverage for alternative care providers. I can get a 1 hour massage for a $25 co-pay, limited to one a month. Today I found a therapist in the network and scheduled for next Wednesday...my goal being that I am going to do this once a month. I also am continuing my efforts at weight loss and exercise, of course, but I am not going to push it when I hurt. I am going back to adding in the yoga class...maybe some aqua aerobics.

Other than this - eating has gone pretty well this week. I have my meeting tomorrow, so we'll see how much progress I made on the holiday pounds.

Hop all is well with each of you and that you are enjoying the day!

Katy--I have already sent an email to say I WANT in the next class. They only take the first six people and I am going to go ahead and pay for the next one. They run them every two-to three months. I go to my massage therapist next week!! She's the best money I spend on me and I don't know why I don't go more often!!

Cristina--He seems to have gotten the message. That's terrible about the 19 year old girl there. I got a book that I am having trouble reading, not that it's not interesting, it's called the Wrong Man and is basically about a guy stalking a college girl and not letting go because he loves her and doesn't understand why she doesn't want to be with him.

SusanNYC--be careful jogging alone--is there someone who can go with you??

Hope everyone is having a good night!!

Hello

Went on a field trip today with the kids I work with to the Hilton for a jazz festival. The kids got to dance and sing and be very cute and adorable.
Kudos to me avoiding over snaking yesterday as I was tempted to and here's hoping that I don't crave that left over b-day cake because there is a LOT of it.

Jules - I actually feel very safe on my jogging routes. I only really go where I there are plenty of other joggers and never past 6ish pm

RoseKate - Yes, Manhattan is my home now with all of its craziness, but I love it! Take advantage of those massages! oh how I would LOVE that...I store all of my tention in my shoulders and haven't had even a good back rub in months.

Have a great day everyone!

Hi ladies

Thought I would try this again. I didn't lose a post but for some reason when I got to this thread and click to post the computer froze up. So I logged off of the computer. I guess it was the time of day Anyway CSI is a rerun and I didn't feel like watching t.v so I thought I would spend some time on the 'puter. They way they keep talking they are expecting lots of people to lose electricity with this storm we are supposed to get tonight. Hopefully, we don't because I just bought groceries and would hate to see them wasted. Actually, we have a deep freezer in the garage and as cold as it is supposed to get I don't think anything in that thing will thaw out. I keep my 2 ltrs of diet coke out there, as well as the bottle water and they have actually frozen before. My diet coke was slushy, lol. And we have a fireplace, thank goodness. I feel for the people in western KS last week when they were without electric for days.

KATY...glad to hear DH is fine. And glad the house is getting there, slowly but surely. Hope you are taking pictures...I know it will be nice when it's finally finished and I bet you guys will be soooo happy. I hear ya about someone maybe thinking about masking odors. We went in a house once and it was overkill. We thought it was candles burning but we all, even the realtor were looking for where the smell was coming from. It was so strong we had to hurry because we were gagging. I don't burn that many candles or anything too sweet smelling. I usually will light 2 tealights of something kind of fresh smelling, cottage breeze is a good scent. Enjoy that massage when you get it. V bought me a gift certificate for a massage and I never did go...guess I just felt weird with a man giving me a massage, a man other than DH, lol.

SUSAN...sorry you lost your post. Take some deep breaths and try again. We'll be here

JULES...glad the guy got the message. The girl here that went missing they found her...my heart goes out to her family. The guy they have in custody was a stalker and by what others say a weirdo. I just don't understand guys who can't just walk away when it's over. Of course some stalkers don't actually know the person, creepy. Hope Grey's Anatomy is good!

SusanNYC...glad you are being safe while jogging. And glad you and the kids enjoyed the jazz festival, sounds nice.

MICHELLE...hoping Oreo is improving. Wish I could hold her.

Anyway, nothing much going on. Since I was up early this morning I will probably turn in early. We'll see what happens with this storm. Hopefully, I can get out to It Figures tomorrow.

Take care ladies and if you don't hear from me for days send help!

Katy -- Glad everything is coming along. I can't wait until the day we can get a place big enough to get everything out of storage!!!! Yup my accident was back in 95' and it seems like it never goes away and now with all this stupid rain it just makes it worse, as I'm sure you know. I think that is a great idea about the massages. You are "Pampering Your Inner Goddess" just like under my profile says.

SASSY...glad your back is better. I didn't know about the car accident, unless you mentioned it and I forgot. My mind is going I swear, lol. I've not tried the excedrin for migraines but I will have to. Geez, I took too many tylenol and it still didn't do much for it. Still kind of hangin' around today.

Nothing much going on here. I went to exercise this morning and then ran to Target to pick up a few things. I think V is going to crap when I tell him how much the vacuum filter cost, lol. I was happy with the ones that use bags but he wanted to try something new. Of course you don't have to replace the filters except once a year but it was $25.00, yikes! Bought a new mop as well and just looked around. I love just looking at all the stuff sometimes. DD started drinking Welch's strawberry soda because it doesn't have caffeine and I had to go to 3 stores to find it. I was pooped by the time I got home to say the least and haven't gotten anything done around here. When V gets home we are headed to SAMS to pick up some things. Anywho...that's about all I have.

Take care ladies and have a good day!

Cristina -- I thought I had mentioned my car accident? Hmmmmm maybe I didn't, my mind is going too! lol. Well anyways I was hit head on in a car I only had for 2 whole weeks (at the time) The impact was so hard that my car was pushed back 3 feet. Basically I went to several months of physical therapy and it didn't help, finally I was sent to a Spine Surgeon and he put me in a back brace. Oh yeah and in between there I re-injured my back at my job (at the time). But workman's comp paid for it and they are the reason why I finally got to the spine surgeon, they insisted on it, which I am glad they did! So that is basically it in a nutshell. So now it is technially "healed" but my spine will occasionally shift and that causes pain. I also have arthritis in my spine as well, so I can predict the weather. lol.

Excedrin Migraine works great for me, I only have to take two and that is it! I want a new vaccum. I want one of those new Dysons, but they cost like $500. Maybe someday. lol.

Well take care all!

Happy Firday!

SASSY...what a horrible thing to have to go thru. I couldn't imagine being in a wreck that bad. Glad they sent you to a specialist. The occasional shift sounds painful, ouch and I know the arthritis is no fun...I have it as well but in my arms. It can be very painful sometimes.

I have heard those Dyson's are GREAT vacuum cleaners. But yeah, the cost of one, ugh. I am a cheapo when it comes to certain things and can't see spending that much for a vacuum cleaner. I've always bought a cheapie and they work for me. But V wanted this red devil one, I think that is what it is. Not too badly priced but I never thought about the cost of the filter. But I do think the canister one works better than the bag ones I've had in the past.

Nothing much going on with me today. Feeling a little under the weather and didn't go to It Figures. I don't know what's wrong, feeling kind of dizzy. So I thought I would just stay in and be lazy, sort of. I will do an exercise video later...have to do some sort of exercise. Starting out snowing this morning and now we have a mix...frozen rain. I was out earlier in it and boy, oh boy is it cold! I had to put some of that stuff on the walkway and deck (for Ernie when he goes potty) to melt the stuff so no one slips and falls. My thumb and index finger are still tingling from being out there. Not sure of the temp but with the wind blowing it is freezing. Anyway...

HI to EVERYONE!

Not sure how much I will be on the 'puter this weekend. I know I won't be on at all on Sunday. Saturday I will be cleaning and doing laundry to prepare for the Open House on Sunday. So...if I don't make it back, you ladies take care and have a GREAT weekend!

Hi Ladies

Well still no change with Oreo. The vet called my DD today and said they got the new stronger meds yesterday afternoon and started her on them, but still no change as of yet. The vet said that she is eating and playful, just that there is still the fluid and infection in her lungs. They will be taking new xrays on Sunday to see if there is any improvement, which will make a week that she's been there. Her brother was brought back in yesterday with the same thing again, so it's just a very sad situation right now.

Aaaahhh, MICHELLE...I am so sorry to hear about Oreo. She must be getting better though if she is eating and being playful. I will keep her in my prayers. Lots of hugs to you , your DD and Oreo. How are you holding up missy?

Nothing going on here. It is icky outside, not that I was going anywhere, lol. Supposed to be cleaning the house but not really into doing it. Jason is doing his laundry right now so I have to wait until he is finished to do mine. Like I am sad about that, lol. I will get it all done before the day is over. I was kind of hoping the realtor would cancel the open house but she has already put an ad in the paper, about a week ago so. And I noticed sometime between yesterday afternoon and this morning she put up an open house sign on the sign in the yard and one on two corners so, it's on. I know there are some people who go out in this kind of weather but really, I don't think anyone is going to show up tomorrow. We'll see...Anywho...that's all I have. A boring day watching tv. Thinking about starting the fireplace. I like it but the thing is when it's going it gets so hot in the living room area and then the furnace quits coming on and so the other rooms get cold. But I love having a fire, it's so nice and cozy. Maybe I'll find a good book to read in between some cleaning.

Have a good weekend ladies!

Hi everyone!
Hope you are all having a good weekend

Cristina - a fire sounds delightful! It's pretty cold here now, so we may have to have one here, too.

Michelle - sending out prayers and get well vibes for little Oreo. Let's hope those new meds do the trick.

Sassy - you are so right; we should all be pampering our inner goddesses! I have been working out alot, so I am really ready for my massage.

Hi to everyone else! As mentioned, I've been a good girl and making it to the gym. However, after this morning's class, I feell like I was hit by a truck. I think it's because I didn't sleep so well last night. DD was coughing alot and waking us up. I've been feeling too tired to do much today, so it has been a lazy day. I have a busy one tomorrow, so I'll just say ttfn!

Have a great weekend!

Hi Ladies -- I just wanted to stop by quickly and let you know that my DD and I just got back a little while ago from bringing Oreo home. She has so much more energy and very feisty, which is a good thing, and has a big appetite. Thank you ALL for your support and prayers!!

Hi everyone

Just popping in really quickly to say hi. We have spent the last couple days getting hubby ready to go on his vacation. All was going well until Friday when purolator lost DH and my BIL's passports and visa's to get into Brazil. As if today everything was still lost. We only have until noon tomorrow to find it as the trip is tomorrow and we have to be at the airport at noon. (In order to fly home from Brazil, they need to get a visa to enter that country. And in order to get a visa you have to send your original passport to the visa office in Ottawa.) Its a little stressfull around here.

Anyway, Michelle I am so glad that Oreo has come home. The stronger medication must have taken effect.

I sure hope that everyone is feeling better. Cristina I hope that your open house went well. My fingers are crossed and hope that you will find a buyer very soon.

Must run

Chat with you all later.
