OK...some background...before the panic...

I am 31 and have been to a therapist and was diagnosed with PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder). I had treatment and was able to move past some really crappy stuff.

I am really not drinking to get away from any kind of stress or trauma, I do it cause it is fun. My husband and I don't go to a bar, we are just hanging out at home and we drink too much. This is somthing that happens in our family, even with my mom and my grandparents. Maybe it is a scary tradition.

I talked with my therapist about it and while she suggested that I refrain from this type of "fun". She did not feel that I had serious issues with alcohol, because I can go for months without even thinking of it. It is almost a seasonal thing. The weather gets nice, we set outside and before you know it we are drunk. NOT blackout drunk or sick drunk or anything like that...just a step over buzzed.

I just needed to clarify. I don't even get drunk enough to start eating stuff I shouldn't. I do know, however, that this is not safe behavior and it is counteractive to weight loss, so I am definitely stopping the activity.

I appreciate your concern...and I am not trying to dance around anything. I just didn't want you guys to all worry or think that I am a troubled young lass!

Thanks again for your support!
Sunny

Sunny - I think the point I was trying to make is that your life should be fun! Without the booze. Most people do have an occasional ooopsie moment every now and then. But alcohol is a self medication so are drugs, food, sugar, sex and porn. I find that my problems with addiction are like layers. You keep peeling them back until you find the source. I worked through my own issues and now am working on sugar and food. I have since the age of 7 mis-used food and sugar. But I kept piling bigger problems on top of them til I was ready to explode. Now the hardest thing I've ever had to deal with is sugar and food but I get up everyday and try my best. These days I'm winning more than losing the daily battle with food but every now and then I crack. You're lucky that when you drink you don't eat wrong. That is usually my problem. Maybe you are having some past issues creeping up because you are pushing yourself with the diet. I know that you will find the answers you are looking for.

Bami - I've got a bunch of windows here in Michigan that need to be done. How about it girlfriend?

Just a quick check in this morning. Sorry that I don't have time to respond to everyone this morning, but I am running waaaaayyyy behind.

Went to the hospital this morning for my pre-adminssion clinic. That was interesting. They told me that I would be away from work for 6 weeks, but the dr. told me 2. Hmmmm. That puts me in a spot with my boss because he thinks I am going to be away only 2 weeks. They also put my hospital bracelet on this morning and told me I have to wear it until I am released from the hospital. Looks good to have a new, bright pink plastic bracelet as part of my attire at work.

I will be away for the end of the fiscal, so have to make arrangements for other people to pick up my accounting stuff for the time I am away. We are also implementing a new computer program at the end of the fiscal and all the purchasing has to be done early...again while I am away. Oh well, I am just not going to stress over this, I guess.

Gotta run to the track, so will wish everyone a great day.

Oh yeah, Ruth, thanks for the coffee. I won a cookie this morning on roll up the rim.

Really busy today but I thought I'd say hi! I adjusted my signature up this morning. Laurie, I think I've been having the same problem with my weight just creeping up. I'm getting a little more serious and will just do my best during the campout this weekend.

Default I'm BACK!

okay. so I didn't just fall off the wagon, I took a giant LEAP. But I have now been back on the beach for 2 full days. We're trying to sell our house, my dd had strep throat, and to top it all off...I cut my eyeball with paper. I've had to make two trips to the opt! (don't ask! ) LOL. But, even though I cut my eye on Monday, I still started the beach again on Tuesday like I said I would. My dad tried to tempt me with potatoes stating "You've got to get your eye better first, before you can diet!" But at this point in time, I am unaware of any medicinal qualities found in FRIED POTATOES!
I refused. I opted for black beans and a sliced tomatoes.

Sunny, I Think the worst part about your having drinks on the weekends would be the wasted calories... different people look down on drinking... I have to agree, it is fun once in awhile, I'm not much of a drinker.. but I like to let calgon take me away.. but that doesn't happen to often, I'm 50 and don't like to feel like crap the next day.. but keep up the good work.. and maybe cut the drinking down to one night.. remember, empty calories..

Oh yeah, that's me all right Actually, I got one with orange and white straps from Goody's online and one with a blue pasley wedge and silver strap from Baby Phat at Zappos.com . I did see an adorable pair of wedges from Nine West with little turquise beads on it but it's $75 Maybe if I hit 138# as a reward I'll have to check out Payless

Tonight I had grilled chicken breast and roasted cauliflower and chickpeas w/ curry and one glass of wine

Tomorrow is YARD DAY and dinner out

Adaja, thank you for my laugh of the day!!! That is great!

I'm so sorry about your eye! I scratched my cornea once and that hurt more than anything I've ever experienced before or since! I can't imagine how much yours must hurt!!! I hope it heals quickly! I bet all this healthy eating will help you heal in no time!

Sunny, thanks for clarifying, sweetheart. I think your decision to stop the drinking makes a lot of sense for the reasons you gave. I suffer from PTSD too, and though I doubt I know what it's like for you, I feel your pain. I'm sure you and DH can think of some other "afternoon delights" to do in this heat...and they might even help you lose calories rather than add them!

Sil, you sure sounds like a fashion plate...paisley and silver straps? WOW!!!

I've never had luck finding anything in my size at Zappos that is under $100. As much as I appreciate Carrie's (Sex & the city) love of pricey shoes...I just can't bring myself to do it. Even $30 for a pair of shoes gives me heart palpatations. For some reason, my head is still stuck in thinking that my feet are still growing. Please God, NO! (they're already 11s!)

Your dinner sounds delicious...want to post the recipe? I love cauliflower with curry...
