  • Hot dog! My scale finally moved. It's been stuck since Oct. 2nd. This past week has been so awful...just feeling down in the dumps. Then TOM showed up, and I felt so relieved! I have PCOS, so i never know when my hormones are going to act up, or when I'll get TOM. Finally got my woosh and I'm down to 130.5!

kidjng- I don't fly a lot, but traveling twice this summer made my scale do funny things, too. Thankfully you are back to normal!
  • Hey folks... just dropping by. I celebrated my birthday on Saturday (actually, it was yesterday, but we celebrated a day early due to scheduling constraints). Yesterday, I was up to 130.2 due to the (food porn deleted) and the (more food porn deleted).

Yesterday I ate clean. I felt sorta put out because it was actually my birthday. But, this morning I am back down to 129, so now I feel it was worthwhile.

So, the biggest huge win thing is that I was able to take a day off-plan (and I mean REALLY off-plan) and get back on plan despite a pretty darn good excuse for delaying. So, that is a great birthday present to myself -- the freedom to be able to indulge once in a while without throwing myself off the cliff.

Glad that water weight cleared up, kidjing. That must have been a nasty shock!

Chickie -- I am having trouble with loosening the reins too. I seem to be able to manage pure on-plan and pure off-plan, but transitioning from a losing weight mentality to maintenance is messing me up. When I try to eat the foods the rest of my family eats (which are healthy by most standards), I tail spin. At the moment, I am back in weight loss mode, because I would like to shave off a few more pounds, but I am just delaying the same issues till later. I figure that I will be better off facing them after the holidays.

Hi crimsons-- I just turned 50 so I know what you mean about wanting to avoid the meds. My father passed from diabetic complications. I'm glad your diet is supervised! I've tried IF, but only for a day at most.

Emma-- good luck with those boots! If it were me, I'd have to tape them to the fridge, lol. I still have notes for myself taped on the fridge and pantry doors.

Ange-- you're at 126 now? That's where I'd like to be! We are entering the time of year that I usually gain, but I am going to try t drop a couple pounds instead.

    Good luck everyone!

ETA: Congrats Chickie!!! You just posted while I was typing, lol. I'm perimenopausal so I have the same issue with hide-and-seek TOM. It was bad enough when I knew about it in advance! But congrats again on the great whoosh!
  • It ROCKS MY WORLD to be able to join a featherweight thread! Starting at 178 on July 25, I just left the 140's thread because I was down to 139 - and I have stayed below 140 for a few days now, so I think I am safe to say, NO going back! I am only 2-3 pounds away from a "normal" BMI. WOOOOOOO! Hi everyone. Sooooo very glad to be here.
  • Shrinking- CONGRATS!!! I didn't feel very feathery until i got to 139. LOL Welcome...you will be out of the 130s in no time!

Yoyoma- Thanks! We sound so similar. LOL I'm so 0-to-60. Valleys or mountains. I have really been working over the past 3-4 years at trying to find the middle ground in all tha I do. It has gotten better, but I still find myself giving 110% or like 2%.
  • HI! I can't believe I'm in the 130's! I have been 139 for three days now! I am slowly making it closer to my ultimate goal! I haven't seen 139 since 5th grade probably! hehehehe.....Hi everyone!
  • just popping back into this thread to say hello!

Great achievement shr1nk1ng - it's great moving threads! (except our 120 one is a bit quiet!!)

Chickiechicks - good news on your long-deserved whoosh.

yoyoma - i know exactly what you mean about it being difficult to lapse and then get back into it, so well done on doing just that, and Happy Birthday!!!! I had a half-way-to-christmas-weekend-away-planned-lapse for 4 days last weekend and happily managed to get straight back to the diet this week, but i think that's because it was planned. I think its more difficult if i've had an unplanned lapse.

But why haven't i had to pay for it? I didn't weigh in for a couple of days after the splurge, but since then i was back to pre-splurge rates and now my weight loss is still storming along (well coming down very gradually, but storming by my normal standards!!)

Scales said 124.2 this morning!! But possibly a bit of deydration, so i think i'll alter my ticker to a safe 125(which i've seen a few times over the last week) before going interstate tomorrow morning to work for the next 10 days without scale-access!!

Maybe my body is confused about what's happening (splurge/adding in some long lower intensity exercise) so it's not settling in to any routine, which seems to be working for the moment!!

yoyoma i know what you mean about eating with the family too and i can't really do that either other than maybe sat and sun evening (and even then i'll watch my portions and cut out carbs and dessert). I'm finding it easy at the moment to make all those changes, but what i don't understand is why i'm finding it easy this time wheras previously i've felt deprived or felt the need to treat myself!!
  • shr1nk1ngme and damascho -- welcome and congrats!
  • I have been stuck at 139 for many days. It's very strange; I have been 100% on plan. I can't believe I hit a plateau every few weeks! I keep having to ramp my efforts up to a ridiculous degree to keep on track toward attaining my goal. I know my expectations are unrealistic, but I expect to be rewarded for being 100% on plan, faithfully. It gets frustrating.

I think I am going to do I.F. for a week and see if that helps. And if it doesn't, then I will ramp up my calories and increase my fiber intake for a few days and see what happens. Grr.
  • I weighed 138 this morning! I'm not going to change my ticker until it stays this way for a couple days! At least I'm moving in the right direction. It certainly keeps me motivated.
  • Afternoon! Did a great workout this morning. Fast-walking incline intervals and then Zumba. The guy who teaches on Friday is so insanely awesome. Zumba on Tuesdays and Fridays is what I live for. I seriously get there early and anxiously wait! LOL

Damascho- That's awesome! How long has it taken you so far? 44 pounds is incredible!

BMI complaint- Since we're featherweights, I hopefully won't have to worry about offending anyone about whining about being a 23-24 BMI. (blush) I just wish I knew what on earth I should be shooting for with my personal weight loss. I am short, so the 130s for me is borderline overweight. The 120s are solidly healthy, but still on the higher side. The thing is...do you REALLY have to be a size 0-2 to be healthy?!? That just sounds crazy. Right now I am a 2-4. If I lose 10 pounds, I will easily go down another size. It's just annoying to feel like "I could lose so much more"...when really I can't. Or maybe I shouldn't. Dunno. I hate being short.
  • Chickie -- this is what WW says about a healthy weight range for someone who is 5'2". Hopefully this won't be considered plaigerism or get me banned from the site for reposting. * Actually I think this part of their site is publicly accessible. And I'm pretty sure this range is for females.

I wouldn't even consider clothing sizes at all as there is no standard in the world.

    Quote:
Your healthy weight range is 109 to 137 lbs.
If you're above your healthy weight range, losing weight could decrease your risk for many serious health problems, and can also contribute to higher energy and other day-to-day benefits. Weight Watchers can help you reach a healthy weight — and stay there.

However, if you’ve gained several pounds within this broad range as an adult, you may notice that you feel less energetic or could be experiencing other issues. If so, you may want to return to a previous healthy weight.

As with having a low BMI (under 20), being underweight can pose several health risks. If you're below your healthy weight range, please see a health professional to rule out any problems.
I believe personal training guru Jillian Michaels is about your height, maybe an inch taller, and she weighs between 115-118.
  • Thanks, Kidjng- I guess my "complaint" is that everyone is different. Just b/c I am 5'2" does not mean I am going to look great at 115 lbs. And yet I feel like I'm "living on the edge", if my BMI is too close to 25.
  • Yay! My weight finally went down a little; weighed in this morning at 136.5. That makes my BMI 25.0. Almost "normal"! (Whatever that is, lol!)

For a while there I was worried I'd end up back in the 140's thread. Now I can say I am solidly in the 130's. Whew!

Quote: I guess my "complaint" is that everyone is different. Just b/c I am 5'2" does not mean I am going to look great at 115 lbs. And yet I feel like I'm "living on the edge", if my BMI is too close to 25.
Chickie, I am 5'2" and my goal is 115. But once I reach that goal, phase 2 of my life remodel includes a bodybuilding campaign to develop a strong metabolism and an athletic physique, rather than a "skinny" physique. I fully expect to gain weight back. But adding that weight will actually be an improvement, as long as it is muscle mass! -- And the BMI business will not hold true for me if I build on a lot of muscle. So I think it is better to worry about how you feel, how you look in your clothes, and how strong/healthy you are. BMI is just as basic guideline.
  • BMI 24 for me and i'm feeling like i need to lose. There's flabby bits on my stomach/hips/arms etc and i have to think about what clothes are going to look best and i'm critical of myself when i look in the mirror.

BM1 22 is good and pretty much any style of clothes fit alright and this is where i try to maintain and where i'm back to right now.

BM1 21 is where i'm aiming at for christmas as i feel really good there, nothing to hide and feel great!

All those BMI's are with running or weights or cycling or cardio classes pretty much every day so 'girly' muscles included. Hard to maintain BMI21 for ever for me though, as i like eating and drinking too much!
  • Woo Hoo! Not only did I stay 138, I've been at 137 for two days! I hope I am 130 by Thanksgiving! All of my jeans are getting too big and saggy, so I'm headed to the thrift store this morning to find a pair or two to just get me by until I hit the 130 mark! Hope everyone is having a great week!
