  • Good Morning

I'm still not feeling up to par, but I thought I'd try a cup of coffee anyway-don't want to start into caffeine withdrawal. We have about a foot of snow and it's still coming down-I'm glad I rode my bike last week. Not much on my agenda just getting well. I'm not the greatest patient.

What's everyone else doing today? Sit and chat a bit .
  • Tra-la-la! It's Tuesday Twitter Time!
Can you tell I'm hard pressed for titles?

It's not snowing now but we did get a good four inches of the wet, sticky kind. It looks very Christmassy out there. The dogs came in last night with chaps of snowballs and were a little perturbed. Disney helped Jazz bite off his which was kind of charming. It's the first time I've seen her "mother" him although she does like him a lot.

Either the tub guys come today or they don't. Owner Don called last night to tell me they have a wee bit to finish this morning at the other job and should be here this afternoon. I'll not hold my breath. I know where they are working and they really aren't finished yet but it is annoying. The cost of the dinner Don owes me is going up daily!

I'm going to hang around home today and work on niggles, including some baking for The Hanging of the Greens in Church this weekend and some stuff for my Christmas Eve bash. The food porn for the goody baskets had better wait a bit as I've already had a bad encounter with candied ginger.

Book club tonight which will be wine and cheese. **Sigh** Temptations abound!

How does your Tuesday look? Tra-la-la or Trudge Trudge?
  • Aw, Debbie, I'm so sorry you are still not back to your normal cheery self. Cozy in and take good care of yourself.
  • Thanks, Ruth, for the kind wishes. Such a sweet story about the doggies, too.
  • Good morning

Debbie - Sorry to hear you're still under the weather in every sense of the word. Sounds like a perfect day for curling up with a mug of tea and a good book.

Ruth - I love the way dogs are surprised by snow every year. Then again look at us - we are all rushing off to get our snows on because we thought it might not snow this year
I am constantly impressed that you can do all that baking and not indulge more. I just don't think I have that kind of will power. Have a cozy at home day today.

I'm off to get those pesky tires on this morning. That will probably involve a couple of hours in line. First the storm was going to miss us, now it looks like it might get here too. I admit I was enjoying the unseasonably warm and snowless weather.

Still battling the craving monster. I don't know exactly why it's gotten so much harder lately, the weather, stress, hormones - maybe all three. I just keep planning and then sticking to plan at least most of the day. Getting exercise is helps too. Now if I can just stick to plan all day!

Hope your Tuesday glides by without any hitches
  • Good morning, I'm waiting for the sun to come out and then I'm heading to Massachusetts for a few days. My father isn't doing well at all and I've got more sick days saved up than I'll ever use so I decided to just trust that my class will survive the rest of the week with a sub (or is it the other way around?). I'll have internet access but I'm not sure what I'll have for time so I don't know if I'll be around much.

    Deb, get well soon.
Ruth, you and your friends and neighbors have even more food centered get togethers than we have here in rural Maine - I didn't think anyone could top us. lol It must be the cold winters, eh?

Have a great day and a great week friends!

ETA Good morning Cyndi! Good luck with the snow tires, hopefully the line won't be too long.
  • Good morning! I'm tra-la-la-ing through Tuesday. So far, anyway. There's nothing pressing on my schedule, so I can pretty much do as I like today. I may finish wrapping presents, and I should go to Trader Joe's to return a jar of chutney that's defective. Or, it even sounds pretty tempting to just curl up on the couch with my book until it's time to go to work.

Debbie, I'm sorry you're still under-the-weather. Make yourself as comfy as possible and just take it easy and look out at the pretty snow until you feel better.

Ruth, should we start taking bets as to whether they show up today or not?
  • Cyndi, I hope you don't have to wait in line too long. Take along a book! I've been battling the crave monster since Thanksgiving. I'm not really hungry, but I just feel the constant urge to eat. Hibernation mode, maybe?

Heidi, I'm so sorry about your father. Have a safe trip and I'll keep you all in my prayers.
  • Good Morning Chickies: I am going to tra-la-la-ing through Tuesday. I have a to do list today that I must get through, hoping for a Christmas to help me out.

Lexxiss- Feel better soon. Curl up with a cozy blanket and take it easy.

Ruth- Hope the tub guys come today, I will keep my fingers crossed for you.

Cyndi- I have caved a few times to that darn monster, I love the holidays but I don't know why I can't stay strong.

Heidi-. Sorry to hear about your dad, travel safe.

Cottage- Go with the curl up with a good book. hope you have a great day.

Me- just going to work through my to do list. And hope I can scratch a few things off. Well got to dash and get my wee one ready for pre school. Enjoy your day chickies.
  • Debbie, hope you feel lots better soon!

Ruth, what book are you reading for your book club? Maybe just eat some stinky cheese and then breathe on everybody. They'll stop offering you things!

Cyndi, sending will power vibes to you!

Heidi, prayers for a safe trip and good visiting with your dad.

Linda, what's defective about your chutney??? Have a fun day!

LC, good luck with your list!

I'm sitting here listening to Connor practice his violin. Too quickly, as usual. I made the mistake of taking him to a David Garrett concert and now he wants to play everything fast. Oops. Doesn't sound so great on those minuets... Kadyn is finished her violin and reading and just has to do math. Connor still has to do his math, too. Then we're off to ballet and Kuk Sool. Connor finds out today if he got his blue belt or not. I'm thinking he's going to come home with it. The camera is going with us.

I tried to beachify some cookies this morning and they didn't really turn out too well. They taste great, but they fell apart when I tried to take them off the sheet. Maybe there are some things that are just meant to be unhealthy.

Got in my run before the rains started this morning. Well, mainly before rains started. I had to do the last half mile or so in the rain, but I wasn't too wet when I got back. The downstairs bathroom is cleaned and the entry is swept and I've got two loads of laundry folded, one load hung, and two loads in the dryer.

I think I might tie a metronome to Connor's ear. Be back later.
  • Good Morning, Everyone!

Debbie, I'm so sorry you are sick! Do you have the flu?

Just wanted to say good morning. Things are busy, busy in my office. One of my jobs has been matching some of our neediest families with Christmas sponsors. Gifts are starting to come in. It's amazing to me what joy the sponsors are getting buying toys and gifts for people they don't even know! Our local Master Gardeners group brought a truckload of toys. Every member brought a girl and a boy toy to their December meeting -- 50-60 members! I'm going through those toys today, which will be distributed to our families, too. The families will pick up their gifts next Tuesday through Thursday. It's crazy, fun busy.

I hope everyone finds some way to get into the Christmas Spirit!
  • Good morning chicks. I have no idea what's on the agenda today besides work and a walk. A little hall-decking, I guess. I think we've test-driven all the cars DH is interested in. Now he just needs to decide. Thank goodness, I hate car shopping. Yesterday he was cleaning out the Toyota so we can trade it in and found a large amount of money in the glove box. I had been taking it to the bank to deposit ... 3 months ago. I never missed it, leading me and him to believe that I'm losing my mind. I've suspected as much for a long time.
I'm happy to say that all the cookies from Sunday's cookie exchange are gone or frozen, and I've got a tub of butternut squash soup and another of refried bean soup to get me through the day. Soup is my secret weapon!

Lexxis, stay warm and feel better soon.
Ruth, it's definitely trudge trudge for me. Hope your tub guys show up!
Heidi, safe trip and enjoy your time with your dad! I hope he's okay.
Cyndi, hope you get your tires quickly so you can get on with your day!
cottage, do you get much bad stuff from TJ's? I've had to return more things there than anywhere else I shop. I love their stuff otherwise, but it's very annoying. Plus, they've made us sick twice.
lc, good luck with that list. Are they all in school for a bit? It's nice that you get a little quiet time.

ETA - have a great day Kara!
Chelby, that's a fun task to have! At work we sponsor a family every year. It's way more gratifying than just donating to Toys for Tots, where the recipient is unknown (which we also do). I'm sure there are lots of families that need help this year. The other day I saw a senior angel tree at the mall. I thought that was a great idea too.
  • Run-by!!!! HIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII!!!!!!

    Have a good day!!!!!

    Lisa
  • Good morning chickies,

Debbie- I hope you feel better soon, take care of yourself.

Ruth- fingers crossed that the tub guys come today

Heidi- Prayers for you and your family and drive safely.

Cyndi- Hope you don't have to stay in line long for the tires- I too am battling the craving monster- do fairly well during the day its dinnertime that I am battling don't know why.

Cottage- Did you decide to enjoy a book or do errands? Have a great day.

LC- good luck with your list

Kara- good luck to Connor tonight- your kids have alot on their plates but sounds like they have fun.

Chelby- that is great- glad to hear that people are getting in the right spirit of the Season. We also pick a specific family at work for one of the children in the hospital and donate to that family.

Today is our work Christmas luncheon, I made a cheescake for it- everyone was supposed to bring the desserts- not sure what they are serving as it is catered so we shall see. Tonight DD2 has play practice again, DD1 has Youth group and DS has to work- With only three cars guess that means DH is going to have to stay home tonite or drive DS to work. DS truck should be back in action next week.

Goal for today is try to stay op for eating and get some exercise in. Have a great day everyone
  • Chelby, where do you work? It sounds like you really enjoy your job!

Schmoodle, I just had some butternut squash soup for lunch. Mmmmm!

    Lisa, hiiiiiiiiiiiiiii!

    Rose, enjoy your luncheon!

I just figured out what the opposite of South Beach is...shortbread! I just made a pan of it and I think I am getting fat just smelling it. It will be parceled out to cookie plates and leave my house ASAP!
