Baked French Fries
Here is a fry recipe my family enjoys at least one a week. I usually leav ethe skins on the the potatoes for additional fiber.
4 large baking potatoes (I use russet)
2 tsp olive or canola oil
1 tsp garlic salt
2 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp oregano
1 tsp paprika
1 Tbsp Mrs. Dash (regular or spicy)
Scrub potatoes then chop into large size (beefsteak) fries. Don't make them overly thin or they will become too dark.
Rinse the starch off the fries and dry them in some paper towels.
Coat the fries with oil or cooking spray in a mixing bowl.
Combine all spices in a large ziplock bag then add oiled fries and shake to coat evenly.
Bake fries at 375 for 15 minutes. Flip and cook an additional 10-15 minutes until soft but not overly brown.
Makes 4 servings
Note: I log these fries in my food log as two entries:
1. white potato by grams or one large (weighed after cooking)
2. 1/2 tsp olive oil
The spices don't add any extra calories.
