I totally agree. I wrote about my doctor experience a bit in my new blog but the first said "oh you have pcos- here are bc pills" and I just walked out confused. The second said "yes you have pcos- take THESE pills instead and here's some met and spir, lose weight btw" still walked out not sure. Then the third was like yeah you have this- deal with it- and lose weight....

I gave up on doctors and started my research then. And I looked around and finally found a doctor that seemed good. First appointment was great. She told me in the end "don't worry I will take care of you" and since I've seen her my weight has steadily decreased- she's WONDERFUL. And I found out a friend of mine who has PCOS sees her too!

She's the first doctor to really check into things and actually refer me to an endocrinologist!

I commented on your post on your blog but do not see my comment? Do you have to approve them first??? If not I lost my whole comment! lol. Yeah I was lucky my GYN is the best (in my opinion of course) She treats me like a human being and for those of us who have been to terrible drs who treat you like you have a very contagious disease know what I am talking about! When she gives me my annual exam she really inspects me everywhere and it makes me feel like I am not this huge OGAR that nobody wants to touch. She was the one who not only diagnosed me with PCOS, she also diagnosed me with Diabetes. She is the one who referred me to this current RE (Reproductive Endocrinologist). Getting the right dr sure does make a difference!!!!

That's interesting.

I didn't even go see an OB/GYN til I was pregnant. All my PAP, "well woman" check up type stuff I had done at family practice.

I went the route of family practice. I can't remember which quiz I'd taken -- either the inciid one or the pcosa one. But I remember my doc listened to my concerns, looked at the quiz and referrred me to an endocrinologist.

Endoc took labs. Where I emerged PCOS/IR and hypothyroid. Then we began coping with it.

I feel a lot of sympathy for people but bless the internet. Had I not had things like Inciid, pcosa, soulsysters and pcos books to read, I'm not sure I would have been able to navigate myself to the correct doctor.

My time in the "void" was from 16 yrs - 25 yrs. I've read of PCOS patients who go a lot longer not knowing what it is that is wrong.

I've been going to a gyn as soon as I started my AF. The one I have now is awesome and wouldn't trade her for the world. I was diagnosed with PCOS when I was 26. SoulCysters is a great site. I also was a member of a yahoo group when I first diagnosed with PCOS that helped me tremendously. Internet sure has helped PCOS Awareness!

when i was diagnosed with pcos, my GYN had me go see a specialist who immediately gave me a script for Metformin. The side effects put me off it and I tried home remedies and I kind of just completely repressed the diagnosis for a while. But because my chest is so large and ruining my back its something that I would like to get a handle on again. I'm trying to lose weight to get a breast reduction done, and I'm not sure If I am infertile but the idea of having a choice of children is something I don't want to give away. I bought progesterone cream but I stopped using it, I think I will start up again. It seemed to help me ovulate.

Yeah I think I have to approve all new comments.

I definitely think the internet has helped a ton- but there are still so many people who have no clue!

Hey girlies, just thought I would check in since I haven't for a bit. Still getting negatives on pregnancy tests. I don't really feel pregnant...so I'm thinking the cycle didn't work. In some ways I am kind of glad because I want to run with this new way of eating and being active...but I'm also really wanting to be a mom after waiting 6 years. I will test again tomorrow, and my period SHOULD show up by Friday or Saturday....then I will be on break from treatments for awhile. I really hate how hard it is to lose weight with this freaking PCOS....

Hi ladies!

Just wanted to check in. So, I lost track of this entire cycle. I'm not exactly sure where I am CD-wise. But based on when I THINK my last tom was, I should be due soon. However, I've had a lot of strange symptoms lately. I am utterly exhausted... all day, every day. I get light headed when I need to eat and actually fell while walking last week. Also, I have magically gained 5 lbs and am peeing a lot. I thought to myself, well, sounds like prego! Unfortunately, I tested this morning and got a BFN. So, either it is too early or I'm not. (I'm leaning toward not...)

But I am also aware that stress does crazy things to the body. My gma just passed away early Sunday and the last 6 weeks have been a roller coaster with her health. So, I'm banking on all this being stress related. Thoughts?

Just a quick hello... I'm feeling balh and a bit run down but I wanted to post that I was going to at least try a short workout to see if it helps get me out of this funk. Sometimes it does.

chouchoubou Lots of things could happen when you cut back on the sugar. Headache, feeling funky, cravings. Try to make sure you get some protein in there to balance it out.

Stuff that used to taste "normal" now tastes gross and "too sweet" to me now.

Got the 30 min workout down. I still a bit blue, but better.

Oh i have had all of it. Let me tell u. I'm on a protein diet/complex carb regimen right now but i am a sweet toother. So I get terribly cranky. Wasn't sure if the headache/light head feeling was b/c i was trying to fight my sugar craving or a sign of deficiency or something. Thanks for answering.

The weird thing is sometimes i feel like a get a headache after eating the sugar free desserts sometimes. I'm slowly figuring things out as i go...

I get headache eating artificial sweetner. I also get it eating bread/wheat type sweets like cupcake.

I don't know if that helps you any.

GL!

Hi everyone,

Just wanted to check in! I'm keeping my fingers crossed that my period starts soon - if it does within the next day or so, then my cycle will have been normal for TWO months. Amazing! Heck, even if it comes next week, and I'm on a 5 week cycle instead of a 4, I'll be happy.

Hope everyone is doing well!

jennyplain -- GL with that!

I'm in a good mood today since I got in a 60 min workout. Half was traditional. half was Wii Fit biking, parade, and so on with my heart rate monitor on.

Yay!
