I did the 17 day diet, but didn't complete the WHOLE diet. I stuck with it for 17 days, and then fell off of it. I do have the book but I still found it very restrictive and (TMI here) it really, really backed me up. Despite drinking 3 L of water a day, with all that fiber from the vegetables you eat, I was unable to "go" for almost a week. It wasn't until I backed off and added in fat and backed off the veggies that made it easier. I also added in prune juice, though that didn't help much.
It's not a bad diet, it just wasn't really for me.
Just be mindful of the potential constipation issues and seriously try to drink TONS of water.
I'm re-starting tomorrow! Last summer my Fiance' and I did this diet and had great results! He lost about 18lbs and I lost a around 11 lbs which doesn't seem like a lot but I lost a ton of inches! We lasted about a month then fell off the wagon and never got back on. I've considered the ideal protein diet but it's waaaay too restrictive for me so I'm going back to the 17 day diet and following those guidelines.
hi I did the diet almost a year ago and lost 30lbs than i got pregnant with my now 2 month old son (mommies in heaven!!) any ways I lost the 23lbs I gained with him..now I'm ready to start the diet again..
In the past I did Atkins and felt so weak and sick no offense to the diet I've seem friends with amazing results. But I find this diet do able and as a lifestyle change ...i will start tomorrow 5/10 sw 178
Hi, I was wondering if anyone was still doing the 17 day diet. I started it Monday, 9/17/12, and so far I have lost 5.6 pounds. I am loving it. I know it's restrictive, but all diets are in one way or another. I will admit that I'm not following it to the tee, and my biggest problem is I hate raw veggies. I know that should be a no brainer, but I just can't help it. I eat canned veggies and I also eat 3 snacks and add cheese to a couple of them. I haven't had any bathroom issues like Rainbow girl, as a matter of fact, I have found just the opposite to be true. I feel lighter and haven't felt bloated or swollen at all. Today is day 5 and I have read on other sites where day 5 is usually the day you feel the most tired and weak, but so far that hasn't happened to me. I love the feeling of control I have over the foods I'm eating and I love seeing almost a pound a day fall off of me. I would love to hear from anyone else that may be doing this diet already or about to start it. Thanks for readint his.
i am new here & am thinking about trying it. i will probably wait until after the holidays. just too hard at this time of year. i am going to order the book this week.
I did the 17 day diet for 5 months and lost 35 lbs. I didn't even follow it exactly. After a break for a busy family time, I am starting again on Monday. I have never ever ever lost weight before and I was 70 pounds overweight. This is the only eating plan that has ever worked for me. I'm afraid it has fallen of the weight loss radar which is a shame because like I said it worked for me. I'm game to come to this forum to chat about the trial and tribulations.
