Jiff -- I am excited just THINKING about it!! Only teeny-tiny thing is: I'm doing Atkins induction for the foreseeable future, and I think the only place I can't find something to eat would be Little Italy - don't EVEN ask me to eat the sauce and cheese off a slice of pizza and leave the crust!!!!! Cause that ain't even gonna happen !!!! Other than that, I've even eaten at the 2nd Ave. Deli --- corned beef and pastrami sandwich - hold the rye!
I wanna be there but I doubt that I can get away this summer. The only rule we should make about Chick Meets is that there HAVE to be pictures posted! And food, of course!
Would anybody be interested in the Brooklyn Museum and/ or Botanical Garden? It is easy parking for both, and there is a little cafe(salads and wraps kind of food). Or you can bring your own sandwich at the Botanical Gardens- I think there are outdoor tables. Jiff/Peach's mom might enjoy it- unless walking is a problem.
I'd go anyplace else also- I'd love dim sum, but wouldn't know where to go. You'd have to pick, jiff.
the second avenue deli????? what a FAB idea... kosher, lots and lots of food, and they'd tolerate the party and carrying-on!!! of course, i might not order a thing and just take a nibble from everyone else's plate!!!!
mom would love the brooklyn botanical garden as well... and she'd struggle along with her arthritis just because she wouldn't want to miss a single flower. is that where ralph snodsmith is fun? or is he at the bronx?
and hey, sam n rosies grandma. little italy isnt' just about pizza. theresa and mimmo's used to make this incredible veal chop stuffed with prosciutto and fontina. they'd leave out the pork products if you ask. really, they would. or just a plain veal chop. or veal marsala or chicken cacciatore. believe me, you wouldn't suffer!!
the only problem: all those wonderful pastry shops. hard for me to resist a biscotti or two!!!
the concern with dim sum is that the lines are very long and it'll take time to get in. i'm willing to wait, but others may not be...
Ah Peachie -- thanks for the thought . Small teeny tiny teeny problem tho: NO TICKETS AVAILABLE for ANY of the "subway" games -- my best friend is a die-hard Yankee and I am a die-hard Met : believe me, we have tried! (within reasonable $ amounts, I mean!!
