It's so interesting to see what a difference a few inches (and probably the brand) makes on pants sizes! I'm 5'0" (5'1" on a good day!) and I started at 233 lbs in a size 20W pair of jeans. Now I'm 197 and just starting to fit into a 16 petite.
I'm 5'2" and 175ish. I think right now I'm in a 14, but at 155 last summer I was in a loose 12P. I've been sticking to mostly dressed and skirts thanks to my ginormous thighs.
I am 5'4 188lbs and I am pear shaped just got in a size 14. And honestly Getting into a size 12 will be just fine for me! I don't think my hips or bottom will ever be a size 8.....although in highschool I wore a juniors 9/10. But 3 kids later....I'll settle for size 12! lol
I am 5'8.5", and at my heaviest, 350, I wore a size 28 jeans (very tight) and a 30/32 top (Lane Bryant). Now at 220, I wear an 14/16 top and size 16 jeans (Lane Bryant) or XL top and 14 jeans (Old Navy).
I don't have much of a butt to speak of, so I was wearing 8s up until I was about 190...then all **** broke loose and I had everything from 8s to 14s fitting. Sizes got wonky and frustrating at that point because I could have 5 different sizes in the dressing room and fit into 3 or 4 of them.
Right now (~162 lbs), I have no idea for American pants (the 12s that I brought with me slide off of me without so much as pausing at my butt), but I wear 69/70 cm waist jeans in Japanese sizes. Looking at charts online, it looks like that could be anywhere from a 4 to an 8 depending on the brand. GAH. Y U NO USE STANDARD MEASUREMENTS?!

I'm pretty much a pear at the moment I'm 5'11 and 165 lbs and fit into a 10 just fine. It took me about 30 pounds to even go down 2 pant sizes. However, if it werent for my thighs I think I could be in an 8 right now. Hopefully this last bit of weigh I want to lose will all come from hips and thighs!
I'm very pear shaped so for a wide range of weight gain I've been in a 22/24, though at my highest (306) those were getting very tight (22's are still tight right now though at 295). Also, I'm 5'6.
I'm 5'4 and now 208 down from 245. I was a tight 18 when I started. Very hourglass shaped, so the problem has always been my butt - the waist on pants have always been too big.
Now at 37lbs loss I'm just now squeezing into some 16s but a lot of jeans are still 18s. it depends on the brand. it sucks, I wish I would of dropped 2-3 sized by now but I just can't get them past my butt !! the waistbands are all humongous and unsightly.
I am 5'6 and about 169 and I wear a size 8 pretty comfortably. At my highest weight 250, I was an 18. I'm really hoping at 150 something I will be in 6's and maybe even a 4!
