I'm determined to get up and away from my desk every day at work, even if it is just up and walking around the mall a little. I had to leave for a meeting yesterday so didn't make it out, but I've now stopped and walked 35-40 minutes every other day this week.

I was a little bummed I didn't make 10,000 steps yesterday. I took the dogs to the park at lunch and then DH and I walked them for 45 minutes last night but I was under 9300 steps. My best day this past week was Saturday--golf 18 holes (walking), grocery store and dog walk. I think I was about 13,000 steps. And while it doesn't seem like a lot, that's actually several miles. But unlike you, Shannon, this seems to be about my only activity. At least you do real workouts!

I never make 10,000 steps! I moved my goal down to 8,000 so I wouldn't get notices of my failure all the time.

I don't think of it as 10000 EXTRA STEPS but as 10000 total steps, I put my pedometer on as soon as I get dressed, you will be surprised how quickly the steps add up.

LOL, Shannon! I think the only goal I make regularly is the 8 hours of sleep--but that is only on the weekends!

bargoo, Shannon and I use the UP band so they're on us 24/7. I think I've hit 10,000 steps only 3 or 4 times in the past 6 months. Such is life sitting behind a desk all day.

I don't think there's ever a day I don't make 10,000 steps. I wonder how many I actually do take every day?

The scale, like a Magic 8-Ball, is ambivalent today. I'm lower than the day after I got back from the trip, but higher than when the fluid retention went away. I'm lower than my weight when I went away.

I've been trying to get to bed earlier and I've been trying to, well, chill. I am actually exercising less, since my former three lifting days were based on those endless, 24-separate-move P90X routines, and instead, I'm trying out New Rules of Lifting for Women, which is not a split routine -- it's full-body but much shorter, at least initially. I needed a change badly, I was feeling imprisoned and ritualistic about my workouts.

Yeah, I sit at a desk all day like Allison, and I'm lucky to get 8000 steps even with stopping for a walk during the day. I'm trying to get up every fifteen minutes and walk more. I made 7824 yesterday I think, and I tried really hard.

I need to buy a new battery for my pedometer or a new pedometer. It always pushes me to get up and move more.

My scale was down this morning to exactly what I was pre-cruise. I'm happy to say the least even though I had gained 2 pounds right before the cruise (so net-net I'm still up two). Tonight will probably swing me the other direction (sushi with dh and no bikram-- hopefully a quick gym workout) but I'm encouraged that I can get it off.

TGIF!!

Up24 Michele. Then you can add Allison and I to your team and we can send you messages to get up and walk more often.

Tell me more-- what is it? What does it do? How much does it cost? I'm sure I can google, but I'd love to hear your thoughts....

Michele, I have the original UP band by Jawbone (you can buy them at Amazon). Mine is $99 and I think the UB24 is $129. They track your steps and sleep patterns. You can set alarms to go off if you're sitting around too much. It works with My Fitness Pal (I use that to track my food). If you go to Jawbone you can read more.

The main difference between the Up and the Up24 is the bluetooth - Allison has to plug hers into her phone to sync, mine syncs wirelessly.

Michele -
I used the alarm for the first time today, it worked very well. It tracks steps, sleep, and you can log exercises and activities. I have started using MFP since I got it and I'm pretty happy with it.

If you join the FB group FitTechFriends you will see a lot of discussion on it between myself and a few other people with pictures and stuff.

Cancelled our golf tee time for this morning due to strong and gusty winds. Oh, and it's cold, too. No shorts today! I guess I'll have to take an extra long dog walk to make up for not walking the golf course.

Well... I ordered it. Then I told dh about it as I knew he'd see it so I couldn't "hide" my splurge. He was slightly offended that I didn't think that he might want one so.... This morning I ordered him one too. They'll arrive Monday and we can figure them out together.
