Oh, Michele, you know it. And also -- umm, talking about the workout again -- it is a totally different dynamic when you have that many guys in a spin class, rather than the class being entirely composed of women. Especially guys that are prone to push themselves really hard. It's so very interesting me to see how the energy level changes. Not that women don't push themselves hard. Suggesting that would do a disservice to all the serious female runners and bicyclists in that class. But there's no denying that a substantial male presence makes a difference. For me maybe a bit more than others, since I'm used to a male-dominated workplace, and deep down, in my psychological composition, I am still a Daddy-pleaser, looking for male acknowledgment.
15 minutes Stairmaster stepper, resistance at eight, aerobic intervals, as a warmup
60 minutes chest, shoulders and triceps
45 minutes recumbent bike, manual setting, resistance at eight
Nearly crying on the machines during that last bout of cardio. I despair of doing this. I mean, this job, above all, and on top of that, the daily arguments with my mother, the phone calls with the contractors, the hunting online for stuff for the apartment. I've even put more stress on myself by scheduling a massage for 6 PM tonight. I have not been finishing off work before 6 PM for weeks.
Feb 1: Walked 4 miles in about an hour
Feb 2: Day 2 Week 1 of Couch-to-5K - I have no intentions of finishing this program; I'm just adding the running as an alternate exercise to keep warm when it's cold out and so I can run/walk my half marathon in May.
I did yoga every night this week except Wednesday which is my night out. Just 20 minutes before I go to be so nothing spectacular. The secret? I turn on the heated blanket and then do yoga while it warms my bed. Works like a charm.
The weather is turning so getting to walk every day this week (save today) was an unexpected blessing. Now we're back to staying indoors since we're expecting up to 12 inches of snow this weekend.
Onward!
Snow is high and deep.
Day 1 of Jillian Michael's 30-day Shred today. That workout left me shaking like a leaf...
Feb 3: none
Feb 4: 75 min yoga class
Feb 5: 25 min wog (20 min 3:30::1:30 run::walk), about 28 min swim, 22 laps total
Feb 6: 15 min walk
Feb 7: another wog, same as last time; 45 min circuit class (she brought boxing gloves and we got to hit things!)
45 minute spin class, with the young instructor who's found herself & her style in spin, and that means lots of hard & fast pop-song length intervals. Oh, and thank goodness I booked my bike at 4:45 AM, as the class filled up and someone had to do the "walk of shame" because she unknowingly took a bike that she hadn't reserved beforehand, and was found out when the guy who'd made the reservation showed up. Over the past few weeks, spin class's popularity has soared.

Day 2 of the 30-day Shred. Wasn't as sore as I thought I would be this morning based on how I felt yesterday. Not as shaky after the workout today. But still...ouch!
All right, really. I haven't been able to get back into my exercising since my race a week and a half ago. I have a treadmill and two "groupons" for some fitness classes - I am going to start USING those things daily!

Ran 4 miles today, in sunny cool weather just after my lunch hour, because I had to get out of the house. I hadn't gone to the gym in the morning since I got online and worked starting around 6 AM. As usual, I felt out of sorts till I got up from the desk and really moved.
