I am recommitting to IP right now with 100% compliance for 6 weeks. At that time I am going to start phasing out. Then I am going to maintain it. If I find later that I want to lose more, I will use alternative products. Totally OP without one mouthful of something not allowed!

I have been struggling since vaca in July. Stopping that right now. I think knowing my time is limited will help a lot!

tuscany- sorry to hear about the illness and the resulting 'gain'. A couple of things... Your body could have become dehydrated while you were ill and you are holding onto extra water (drink lots of lemon water!!). This would also have an effect on the body fat % that the scale put out as it will give a skewed reading when you are dehydrated OR your scale may need to be re calibrated (with mine I have to hold down on the middle of the scale then let up)...
rhonda- sometimes when the body lets go of a large amount if weight there is a 'recovery time' that follows where it holds steady or even gains back a bit... The losing will begin again- it just needs a bit more time...
I was surprised that I enjoyed the pig roast I went to tonight. Found it fairly simple to refuse the drinks and stuck with straight up pork, no sauce and raw veg (peppers, cauli, broc pieces). Had a lot of really good conversation and never felt pushed to have something off plan. Perfect- can't ask for more than that!

Rhonda ~ I have had 3 weeks of low numbers and I have been praying to the scale gods to give me a big one LOL...Dont be discouraged...It will happen...This AM I peeked on my home scale and it looks like the whoosh I wanted will happen this week My first week I lost almost a full 10! the following week 1.5...but the inches are going down....Keep it up! We can do this... Fat did not happen overnight so we cant expect it to leave overnight!
My pattern is a few low ones than a whoosh every 3-4 weeks. Hey that works I am still 27 pounds smaller at the end of the summer than I was at the beginning....Look at things in that respect!

I am mostly doing IP products although I agree it does get quite costly. I tried the EAS shakes when I was on vacation and I did not like them as much....I did LOVE the Quest Double Chocolate Bars... I keep some on hand as a treat. I am going to be in Phase 1 for a very long time...I have to made some alternatives work or my kid will not be able to go to college in 2 years LOL... I have quite a stock pile of IP products and when I do a quest I just write bar in my journal so my coach is non the wiser. She does read my journal weekly!

I know there has been talk back and forth on coaches, mine actually lost over 100 Lbs on IP. I wish everyone had a great coach, although when I mentioned using alternatives to her she was not warm and fuzzy to the idea LOL, but I assume they make their money on the product amount they sell.

I picked a goal weight and date. 160 or Sept 30. I would have liked to stop on Sept 15 to be phased of for an event I have in October. My last few weeks have been the hardest for me. I never "cheated" before but now I find myself tasting things again. Not sure if it I'd dieters fatigue or if I am getting cocky but I need to buckle down for this last month too or I won't reach my goal! I'm back to one meal/one day at a time.

You can do it! You've done so great and your goal is so close - work that determination muscle!

You are so close! The last few weeks can feel painfully slow, but in the grand scheme it's such a short amount of time compared to a lifetime of healthier living at the weight you've worked so hard to reach - you can push through!! If focus is difficult, is there a non-food reward you have planned for yourself when you reach your goal weight or date? Finding a way to keep a reminder of that reward on hand at all times might be just the thing you need to keep your eyes on the prize

I read this quote yesterday and it really rang true with me:

"Self-discipline is like a muscle; the more you exercise it, the stronger it gets."

I've been a little lax on the discipline side which is why I'm now on a mini-reboot. (I hit goal originally about a year ago.) Already, I can see it getting easier to stick to IP again, but for a long time I really had to take things one meal at a time, and pick myself up every time I fell down.

I feel really lucky with my coach. She's my best friend! She works at a clinic that does it, and the doctor made them all try it. It makes it easy because I can text her when I am struggling, or have questions, and I know she really has my best interest at heart. And since she's tried it, she understands the struggle.

Went overboard on exercise yesterday. I relandscape my front yard. Moved some hedges, took out some giant sage hedges I hate, planted some gorgeous hibiscus... Then the cleanup of hauling all the debris... But it looks sooo much better. A little more to do today; laying some stones and spreading some mulch. I also need to dig out a giant iron post that used to hold up our palm tree. It's big enough now. Working on inside projects too. Having something fun to focus on keeps my mind off food. We are redoing a few rooms. Adding some design touches to the kitchen and bedroom, and making our formal dining into a playroom. The living room will no longer be littered with toys!

These long weekends are a little tough. We usually grill with friends and drink lots of wine. Realllly miss the wine!

Sorry to hear about the headache, scorbett. So far, so good for me, but it's too soon to tell for sure whether I'll make it through week 1 headache free. I never went back to my old way of eating in terms of carbs, so I'm hoping that will make a difference. Mainly I've had to give up red wine, cheese, almonds, almond milk and yogurt for the reboot. One thing IP showed me is that I can never really eat like many other people do.

I did get the 'gnaw your arm off' hunger yesterday afternoon, but let myself have another packet since I had worked out pretty hard in the morning. Figured that was better than going completely off plan! I think it will be a balancing out considering that I'm going to keep exercising this time around. We made chicken kabobs on the grill last night, and I don't think they've ever tasted so good!

And just an aside: I've found it harder to shake these 5 pounds in the last 6 months than it was to stay on IP in the first place. Maintenance really can be harder in many ways than losing the weight in the first place!

The conversation about recommitting to be 100% through the last few weeks is on point for me right now. I find myself slipping here and there, justifying things that aren't on the sheet because they still fall within other keto diet plans (i.e. more fat than I should have or fats that aren't on the sheet). I've also not been diligent about weighing my protein and getting my water in. Gotta get back on the 100% bus!

I have a Tanita scale, and only just this morning figured out how to use the fat % monitor. Says I'm 45% body fat. Don't know what it was before.

This is my 7th week, and perhaps I was due for a gain at some point, but anyone else experience getting sick and gaining?
Illness causes infammation. Infammation is water weight.
It isn't uncommon to retain water with illness. Increase your fluids!

I use a stick blender to make mine. Less $$ than a food processor.
I over cook the cauliflower a little. It is easier to mash.

Halfagain - that sounds really interesting doing all that wool spinning. I was at a fair today at talk about having to work the resistance muscle - so much food and smells. sounds like you did some great planning.

I had my first P2 lunch today, 2 cup cut up veggies and home made hamburger. very yummy but it feels weird to not be having IP. I am looking forward to my IP snack.
Thank you. You are an inspiration to me as we have similar stats. How long did it take you to get to goal?
