November starts ?

Hey ladies, I started on Nov 10th. Feeling great so far! How's everyone making out so far?
What's your favorite meal ?
How's your body feeling ?
Challenges?
I always had an excuse not to get this going. No more for me. I can't beat myself up anymore. Mistakes happen.
My goals : single digit clothing , tall boots that fit, 20 by Xmas!

Let's do this for each other and ourselves!
Good luck to all!;)

Hi Skinny! I started on the 12th......7 lbs down....

What's your favorite meal ? I dont have one yet, but i really like adding mushrooms to breakfast, helps get in the 4 cups...
How's your body feeling ? Was tired before, slight headache but not as bad as I thought it would be. I seems to have legs that twitch in the night though....and sometimes I feel flushed.......then the other times im freezing lol...

I like my restricted durring the day, i can kind of much on it...a few chips then leave some for later, seems to get me over the big cravings...yesterday i had a dill pickle...helped me too..
Challenges?

yespositively 11-16-2013 02:21 PM

I started on the fifth. Down 5-6 (5 at weigh in Wednesday). I was low carb before so no big losses in week 1. All is well so far, just struggling with veggies and occasional cravings. Week 1 I used a sampler pack from the clinic-- glad I have foods I like this week!

My goal is 20 before Christmas as well.

calypso58 11-16-2013 02:35 PM

I started on November 13. Days 2 and 3 were difficult but it is getting better today. I don't have a favorite meal yet. I also have a goal of single digit clothes. Had a NSV this week already. Jeans I couldn't button a week ago now fit beautifully. It inspired me to keep going!

Sealilhannah 11-16-2013 03:13 PM

I am going to start on Monday. Need some encouraging "friends" along the way :)..very nervous I'm going to fail once again. first goal is to et below 170 which I have not been in 5 years. Look forward to advice and tips

Salut la Mme de Quebec!
Favourite meal so far is banana pudding. I am also obsessed with broccoli slaw. It's really filling. Add a little home dressing and its great. I'm finding it hard to get in all my veggies also. I dehydrated some kale and spinach last night. Good to throw in a soup or eat on it's own.
Breaking up the snack is a good habit. I'm trying hard to pay attention to when I'm full. It's tough on ketosis, because your not hungry sometimes. I don't eat broccoli cause I love broccoli. I eat it cause it fuels my body.

My sleep has been a little off all week, I think it's because I'm in the burning phases. I am still waking up well rested.

I think it's important to plan your meals. I have picked all my meals for the week. At least my IP meals. labelled them with the days of the week.

Keep it up ladies ! Remember to not beat yourself up when you have a bad day.

We're here for u. Change your definition of fail. Focus each day on what you did right instead. Remember the next day will always be there to start fresh! I wish you luck and know you can do this. Try to have mini goals that don't involve numbers.

BLUEJEWEL 11-16-2013 05:06 PM

I started back today, i do alternatives, shake in morning and before bed, had a salad with lettuce red bel pepper and celery with 4oz turkey patty for lunch, will have a bar and then 4oz of something tonight with more salad.
Glad to see others starting in November!

mom2hi 11-16-2013 05:13 PM

I started this week. I did IP once before, stopping 20 lbs before I reached goal (oh how I wish I could go back to that critical day!). Anyway, my favorite meal is steak with sautéed mushrooms and a big green salad...feels so special, and we can have it!

My favorite IP food is the RTD Chocolate, which I live on. I have tried most of the others, actually tried the new choc chip bar today and it was good!

I feel good for having started again, but physically today tired and slight headache. Can't wait for ketosis to kick in, then I know I'll feel great!

Good luck to all!

Thank you, Skinny! This is a great plan, I know it works, as I went from 236 to 155 in about 7 months. I still don't understand why I didn't see it through to goal, but am working through my feelings about that so I won't do the same this time.

Best of luck to you, too!

My best tip is to have options available to you. Try to include your meals into your family meals. Always have a protein and Veg.....then add extras for the rest of them. It's not easy , I know. I basically told people, I can't go out for awhile to restaurants.
Good luck !

It is a challenge to do this plan when you are the main cook for the family, too. If your family eats dinner together, just always plan on a protein you can have, at least one veggie you can have and then add a starch if needed for the rest of the family. For example, you can make tacos (be sure to use your own seasoning, as the mixes generally have sugar), you can have a giant taco salad with IP friendly veggies, and the rest of the family just makes tacos. Or you can make roasted chicken with an IP friendly veggie and mashed potatoes for the kids.

It does take planning, and lists will be your friend, but it works! Good luck!

Sealilhannah 11-16-2013 06:15 PM

Thanks ladies. I just need motivation :)

Good suggestions on the taco salad, I do the Big Mac in a bowl, walden farms 1000 island is excellent with the 4 oz lean burger lettuce red onion tomato. Very satisfying and the roasted chicken you can purchase at the grocery store when u have no time to cook. This is very doable, even with a family, it really is a matter of making your mind up, go with the nike slogan, JUST DO IT!

Dream board

I just made myself a dream board. It's not just losing the weight for me. It's overcoming whatever it is that is holding me back from being the best person I can be.

I put it up in the kitchen. I'm going to *** stars for each lb I lose.
Let's do this!!

lakelover18 11-16-2013 08:41 PM

Started on November 6th, down 7 pounds. Feel really good, typically not hungry, and enjoying my meals. Love the Quest bars and RTD EAS Dark Chocolate with a splash of Torani SF peppermint. I also tried the cream of mushroom soup and added sauteed mushrooms...yummy.

may1954 11-16-2013 09:00 PM

I restarted Friday, November 15. Went to a buffet for lunch, with visiting friends today. I really thought it would be a disaster for my restart, but I was able to find some delicious turkey breast, vegetables and salad and was full. usually I can't go near buffets without overeating. I plan to speak up next time and not put myself in that situation again. I feel very nervous about all the approaching holidays and gaining weight.

Breezybirdy 11-17-2013 10:54 AM

I started November 6th. I was initially shocked once I realized how much I needed to loose --- Like, I knew what my goal weight was - but never calculated how many pounds that really was or how long it might take. YIKES!!! Anyway, so far so good - but sometimes I get overwhelmed at the thought of doing phase 1 for so long.

How do I get the weight loss ticker?

calypso58 11-17-2013 11:01 AM

I'm so happy there are others who started in November to be on this journey at the same time. Four days and I'm already tired of the vegetables. I haven't cooked in years but am scouring these forums and pinterest for interesting vegetable recipes that might entice me a little more.

When you have been here for 20 days and have 20 posts the option to add signature shows up in your user cp:)

I started nov 1 and feeling really good! Im down 11.8 pounds...ive never stuck to any plan for very long before and i really feel like this is something I can do. My goals are very similar to yours skinny, regular clothing store for sure!!

For meal times i always make protein and veg that I can eat and add extras like baked potato or rice for the family....if they want something like pasta then i just make myself something else or eat ideal rotini noodles with my own sauce made with chopped tomato and other veg....its extra work but i prepare on the weekends what we are going to eat and do as much prep as i can before the busy work week starts!

The results are worth it! Off to make zucchini muffins with the oatmeal packet to take for on the run bfasts this week...there are so many recipes i want to try with the packets but im afraid of wasting them if they don't turn out!!

may1954 11-17-2013 12:18 PM

on Day 3. I'm still drinking tea all day..much harder to cut out than the diet soda. Was wondering why Ideal protein is limited to 1 cup of regular tea? I want to do it but need a good reason to give up something I love and enjoy each day. Does anyone know why it's limited?

Tea and coffee are not limited to 1 cup per day. 1oz of skim milk is all that's permitted so if you drink it black, that's not an issue.

I would just make sure you're drinking plenty of water to compensate for the caffeine, unless you're drinking decaf/herbal.

Enjoy!

Thank you IdealProteinNewbie, I think I can see where my problem is now...when I drink the tea, I tend to not drink any water at all...I think I need to cut down on the tea and add some water.

It was so hard to give up diet soda and this is my third day off of that. Now I have to work on increasing my water.

calypso58 11-17-2013 12:59 PM

I was worried about quitting my diet sodas. It hasn't been as difficult as I thought, but I am drinking a lot of water. Before this, I was drinking soda all day and no water. It feels really great!

Ok, I'm going to give it a try this week, I'll commit to trying to drink more (any will be more for me) this week. Maybe a slice of lemon in it will help get me started. So hard to change habits!!!

calypso58 11-17-2013 01:25 PM

I start with a bottle of water, the 16 ounce one you get in cases of 24. I refill it at least 3 more times during the day to make sure I'm getting all my water. I try to space them out so that I have one right after each meal and one extra in the afternoon. I pretty much chugged it the first few days because I really haven't been drinking water in a while. I bought a brita water bottle yesterday but I don't like having to squeeze it to drink, although it does taste good and I won't be recycling as much plastic.

sologirl 11-17-2013 01:30 PM

I use mio or dassani drops in my water....they are 0,0,0 and use splenda so my coach said go ahead. It tastes great and its much easier to drink....i usually drink a plain one first thing in the morning and then flavor the rest of the day.

Let's do this!!

I have two visual aids, I use paper clips that hang from my refrigerator and then jars of colorful stones in my office, each clip or stone represents pounds lost.
Little games for my mind that help

Welcome :). You can do it! I didn't find the first few days too bad...just really missed the diet coke i used to drink constantly! As soon as you hit ketosis your hunger dies down dramatically :).

workingmom11 11-17-2013 07:36 PM

I'm still waiting for a email back from the clinic here but I am determined to start this month I would like to lose 50 lbs and get back in my skinny jeans - I have been reading up on the diet and this forum is super helpful I love reading all you stories. I have my family eating paleo and they are all happy and have lost some lbs so far. I have already taken myself off caffine, sugar and wheat so I am hoping for no headaches when I start. Keep up the good work ladies and I'll keep you posted.

Lydia1102 11-17-2013 07:37 PM

Thank you sologirl!!! I'm feeling more "out of it"/kind of in a dream like state!!! Is that normal??? I have had such a high carb/high sugar diet, so even day 1 of no carbs/sugars is kicking my butt :) I have a HUGE test on Friday (3rd year dental student) and I just hope I can concentrate enough to study!!!

locks 11-17-2013 08:11 PM

Hey Lyndia, good luck on your dental exam, I am a dental hygienist, I imagine the stress alone is disolving your ip packets pretty fast lol

I did that before too, and my first week went pretty smooth, I was surprised. Just hungry, some tiredness, and i think im cutting veggies in my sleep lol

may1954 11-18-2013 09:52 AM

glad to have the weekend and the first few days on ideal protein behind me.
The second and third day I did get the "fluish" feeling and had a headache last night but took ibupropan and that took care of it. I think I may have made it worse by not drinking water the first few days (just tea) I see how important the water is now.
I woke up this morning feeling good and ready to move forward toward better health and getting this extra weight off! I can't weight until my one week weigh in on Friday and seeing a lower number on the scale,

yespositively 11-18-2013 10:08 AM

Hi November starters! I'm on week 3 of the program and am so far a happy camper. I wish I had super high numbers like -9 a week but what can ya do? Second weigh in is tomorrow.

I am struggling with finding good ways to get my veggies in. This week I did a ton of food prep and I have zucchini curry soup and a turkey chili with no beans and tons of peppers in it, so I will get in two cups at lunch. I've been splitting my protein between lunch and dinner which is a huge help for me.

Last Friday was a bad day for me-- I strayed off plan a little (low fat balsalmic on a salad and a tiny bit of cheese), but stayed in ketosis. I think I was so hungry because I was salt deficient. Once I ate that salad I felt a TON better. Weird how salad has become a cheat.
