Wow so many new "faces" today! Welcome Welcome Welcome everyone! ! !
Regarding the Jicama Question Here is what I found from a coach's website:
Ideal Protein has just announced a new vegetable that is allowed with no restrictions during Phase 1. The vegetable is something that we are very excited about and think that it will be absolutely wonderful for our clients! This mystery vegetable is called Jicama.

**This was posted on their blog on May 9th, and for those of you wondering on the pronunciation (I know I was), it's pronounced "HICK-ah-mah"

There's a daily thread - something about 'what you're eating today'... that will give you a good idea of what several people on Phase 1 eat.

I talked to my coach today and I really think I will be lowering my goal to 140 but we agreed I will wait to see how I feel when I hit 150. Also I was talking to her about alternatives and she said muscle milk & EAS shakes can be used to replace packets. Also she mentioned there was a change in the P1 sheet where 2 whole eggs & 2 egg whites can be used for your 8 oz of meat.
On a side note I have an appt with my doc for my back today. Something has got to give. The pain gets unbearable & the chiro has not helped at all.
I hope everybody has a great day ..No matter what stay OP
Congrats on the 50lb mark, that's a great accomplishment. I'm excited to hear that your coach talked to you about the alternatives, I was worried about getting push back from them if I switch some. Hope your appt goes well. Can I ask what is going on? (my profession occasionally deals with chronic pain and treatments).

I guess this just goes to show that, no matter how much I think "I've got this" I need to remain diligent. I'm glad that I felt so sluggish and nauseous this morning. The scale only showed a .5 gain, but I'm back to P1 for 3 days to recoup and get back to my good habits.
It happens, way to pick up and get back on plan. We are all human! Good luck for the rest of the week!

I liked the way I looked in that dressing room mirror. I never thought I would say that.
That's an awesome NSV. I cannot wait until I can comfortably fit into an 8. Shouldn't be too much longer now.

Hope the doctor can help with your back issues. Not fun I know.

Do you still go to a clinic to WI, do they frown upon you using alternative products? I am wondering about the whole, "this program is FDA approved as it is" discussion. Just checking.
BTW, 90 pounds is AMAZING! Keep it up!

I've learned this week that I def need to plan my meals better. Last night supper wasn't until after 9 by the time I got out of work, got groceries, then drove home, etc etc. Was really wishing for a snack bar, but they said no bars until 3rd week I think it is.

My first NSV...have been taking my blood pressure every day and it is dropping a bit each day! It's almost into the normal range now. Hope to be able to stop the meds for that soon
Glad to have you, from another Newbie. I agree about the planning, it makes all the difference. Before going to the clinic for weigh in and food, I make a menu for my family for the week keeping in mind what I'd like to get that may compliment what they are having or vice versa. Then I make my IP shopping list from that. After I leave the clinic, I put each days worth of packets into a gallon sized zip lock labeled with the proper day (Mon, Tues, etc...) I also have a baggie for extras in case I feel the need to switch. I throw the whole baggie into my purse for the day first thing in the am (after I have breakfast at home). It is a lifesaver!! Way awesome news about your BP, definately motivation to stay OP!

I am staying on plan easily today. Today is much less hurried and hectic than yesterday. I tried a pudding as a pudding for the first time for lunch. Butterscotch (I added cinamon and vanilla). I liked the taste but it really didn't set up and I let it sit for about 10 mins in the fridge and used ice cold water to mix. Any suggestions or is this just the consistency. It was thick but would not hold its shape when I spooned some out. Thought I'd ask. Now to go find some veggies (had 1cup mushrooms at breakfast with my omelet, but need some more)... here I come...

Thanks,
Shawna

Wow, so much great news in here today!

I know I'm going to forget people, but congrats to Foxxy on an awesome first week, newmom for hitting goal, Dana for hitting 90lbs and mooselover for fitting into 8's! (I'm totally forgetting people!!)

And yes, I certainly did get spanked but chose to just walk away for a while and absorb it instead of reacting in the heat of the moment. So fun being a grown up!

And finally - what the heck is jicama? I've never heard of it before in my life! I see the very helpful photo kaypix posted (thanks!) but it looks just like a potato to me. Tell me more!

LOL! IP keeps changing their minds. When I started, which was 6 short months ago, protein portions were 5-7 oz and cucumbers were considered a vegetable (part of your requirement). Something else is free now too but I can't remember.

I bet, given time, they will change the 1 oz. skim milk in coffee limit.
