Mystical Mamma's:[

COFFEE AMAZING: 6 -7 oz cold water into shaker, packet of pudding mix, shake shake shake, pour into big mug heat in micro for 1 min, pour hot coffee over (I have a kuerig, so I make it right on top which makes it so frothy it's incredible) then I sprinkle a little cinnamon on top (that was my idea)! It is soooooooo yummy. Yesterday I did choc pudding with hazlenut k cup flavored coffee. Today I did the vanilla pudding and had butter toffee flavored k cup coffee. I've also used 1/2 pudding with each cup, so I could have 2 cups!

I can't drink the green tea without splenda so I stay away from it. I do take the 2 potassiums though and feel so much better. Weren't you going to have some tests run to make sure your kidneys were working okay? I also have tried to be really careful with the salt. I think I was eating salt for headaches and it was the low potassium giving me the headache. The salt and sodium play a big part in water retention. I sit at a desk all day and my ankles are still swollen at the end of the day. I think the walking will help with the water retention too because it improves your circulation. You may want to get a massage too.

She also told me to take all 4 of the calcium/mag supplements because I had backed off to 2 for the constipation. She also recommended I had a bar or the crisps each day to have something that is not liquid as my protein. She also said I should eat lettuce at dinner as well but I just am too full so I only eat lettuce at lunch. I still end up drinking from the calcium citrate bottle but not as often. The walking should help with this too.

Are you having any restricted items? You could try a week without them and see if you lose quicker. It seems to be working for some of the others. Or just have a restricted every other day.

Keep working at it and I am sure you will look great for your class reunion!
I thought when I posted to the last thread it would bump up to this one. No luck. In that same last post on the old thread I filled you in on some of the stuff you mentioned.
Anyway, I did have my biomeridian testing on 3/11. The IP potassium was too strong for me, but I was very depleted, so I'm taking 600/day. I take 1200 Calcium, minerals, omega 3, multi-vitamin, I-3-C, livertone, and a probiotic type capsule. I also take Synthroid and Cytomel (I'm hypothyroid).
I'm having my bloodwork done this Friday and seeing my doctor a week later.
I also sit at a computer all day and was told to get up and walk around every so often.
Funny you mentioned it, I had a massage yesterday.
As for the restricted items - I actually don't eat an entire restricted item in one day, except the crepes which I only eat on a weekend morning. I weigh out 1/4 of the bars and the sea salt chips and only have 1/4 of one of them a day. Then I have 1/2 of my regular IP pack for my third protein. I like to break up the 1/4 of a bar and mix it in the pudding.

At first I didn't like it, but I put cinnamon in it and it was better. Only had it once. I might get a few more packets next time.

I don't know how safe it is for you to only be having the carbs you are getting from the IP packets but if your coach is okay with that then so be it. I think the possiblity exists to miss our vegetables once in awhile but my coach is pretty stern about 4 cups a day plus the lettuce.
AHH, making a controversial diet even more controversial- I seem to have perfected the art of extremes. First of all, I think you may have a point on the water shielding my sore muscles, as my muscles seem to be more sore than usual. Where did you get that fact? Where can I look it up? I used to be a personal trainer and have studied the body and have never heard of that so I am interested in learning more ( I hate not knowing something! I need to go back to school!) Also, I think that my body has so much muscle memmory that since I have been becoming much more active after being quite sedentary for a couple of years that they are regenerating quite quickly, which can lead to weight gain, but in a good way! But I would like to have a device to prove that theory, so I will ask my coach to provide one or I will have to get one myself. This is science and I am going to research and evaluate this diet and the variables until I understand exactly what is going on and how to function at maximum capacity- as I even feel that some of the coaches aren't "specialists" in the field of the diet, because the book doesn't tell us EVERYTHING we need to know, and they can't possibly know our our body chemistry- as all of our bodies will have a slightly different reaction due to different factors.

My coach does know that sometimes I miss my veggies and thats okay because I always get at least 20-25 carbs, but I've been making a more valiant effort to have the veggies (i.e having broccolli and cauliflower stocked in freezer) but she's not flipping out about it. She just said it can help add to my daily calories. And I can DEFINATELY go to the bathroom. I have IBS so sometimes cutting out the veggies is a defense mechanism to not have diarrhea all day long as this diet has actually helped firm up some of my stools. Trust me, my body is not as simple as you think, I do what I can but between peeing and diarrhea- I feel like I should be wearing a diaper along with my son. The doctor says its induced by severe stress, but I'm trying to get in my veggies but sometimes its just pickles. But I always get all my carbs, I have to, or i start losing feeling in my extremities and yesterday my jaw was locking up. My guess was the Muay Thai was too extreme the day before and I didn't get enough IP packets in to recover, because I wasn't hungry so I followed normal protocol and not the athletic
STUPID STUPID If I ever do that again I'm going to kick my own butt I worked out so much less intense than normal it didn't seem necessary to have TWO EXTRA- I did have one extra post workout but it wasn't good enough. oh well. I could be wrong but its a process of elimination. I'm going to back off of muay thai for the next two weeks I think:tan trum:

Wow, I feel so bad for you with all your medical issues. It has to be rough on you especially caring for a baby as well as yourself. It has been a hard 2 weeks for you. I hope it gets better.

I am not exactly sure where I got the information on the muscles being surrounded by water when we damage them. It could have been in one of the many magazines I have read over the last 25 plus years. I have read Fitness, Health, First for Women, Muscle and Fitness and Shape magazines and always seemed to pick stuff up along the way. It could have been from one of the aerobic instructors I worked out with along the way. If you search it on the internet and find something dispelling this, please share. I too trained on a regular basis lifting weights because I arm wrestled for 10 years after high school. I have had an issue with my back and have not been lifting too much since last spring. I am not a personal trainer and am just sharing my opinion. I have struggled with my weight my whole adult life and have had 2 children, gained and lost with both pregnancies. I think this is a convenient, easy diet to follow. I have had quicker success with it than any other diet. I think this is an extreme diet when you follow the foods suggested. I could not imagine taking the vegetables out of it to make it work faster. We are all different and if that is working for you great!

I noticed that today is the last day of the date in this thread?!? So tomorrow, will I have to find it and subscribe? Does that happen at midnight, or just whenever people wake up and start posting?

Whenever one of the technologically savvy members create a new thread they will post a new link and it will connect you- it won't expire at midnight or anything. No worries!

Kelsey, people do this diet in different ways -- the way that works best for them. Some prefer to stick solely to the IP packet system and protocol. Others prefer to learn and stick to the principles of the diet without the IP packet system. And others prefer a combination of both. If you stick solely to the IP packet system and protocol, it works well without a need to count carbs or protein.

Then, she won't be able to stick strictly to the IP protocol. The diet will still be doable, but will be tricker. In order to make substitutions that meet her eating preferences AND the diet principles, she will need to understand more about the carb / protein amounts she is eating, than someone doing the strict IP packet system and protocol.

Does this make sense? (If not, ask again.)

Okay, good. I go back to work tomorrow, and I doubt I'll even get to come here until late, but I didn't want to be lost! Thanks!

On the nutrition label, I read that for each 2 TBSP. there are 0 carbs, cals. and fat. I try to stick to that. Not exact, but so far, I have been ok. I don't use WF every day though, more like 3x a week.

Ahh.. Sparkles, as always wonderful to hear from you! You're always bubbling with enthusiasm- love it!!

HAHA love the face that you notice I edited my post! I actually edited it 3 times LOLOL! I apparantly become retarted when I can't sleep- I'M SO GLAD IT DOESN'T SO HOW MANY TIMES WE EDITED IT! I lay in bed alot too but i get so sick of it because I will literally lay there for 7 or 8 hours and so then it just doesn't make my bes a place of rest- more like a place of torture and turmoil. Xanax helps- but It makes my body feel crappy the next day and ambien makes me sleep clean and well... God another FDA label- not good. I should try the calm stuff. they have calm tea at starbucks that helps me- since i came off of copious amouts of heavy duty meds.

YES! I AM THRILLED YOU ASKED! I WOULD LOVE YOU TO READ AND EDIT MY BOOK! I have always wanted someone to but either people knew too much or they weren't "really interested" or whatever so I stopped writing for a while but i have some excerpt i can send you- they are pretty vicious- like i have a very vicious sense of humor- alot of people think its funnny but it would be such a motivation for me to keep going if I know Ill be sending them to you! I was so excited to see you said that!

I will check out fitday.com and start plugging my stats in there. also i think that my intense training is messing something up- because i gained weight today after my personal session yesteray and all my neck and face was tingling and going to sleep and my muscles around my jaw were seizing up and i was geting to the point where i couldn't open my mouth.. AHHH this is driving me nuts--- i had to have a packet before my walk and two after to calm it down= thats what it was- that and needing more salt. but the brisk long walks seem to be working better- BUT I DON'T UNDERSTAND that truly i don't i need to do more research- i was a personal trainer and anything like this that baffles me with the body and diet and exercise drives me nuts I like to know EVERYTHING. it just doesn't make sense--- you would think it would make you go even further into ketosis because of the depletion of carbs but like i said i need to do more research. I'm so sad about my classes I'm going to have to stick to speed bad and heavy bags- super light activity- i'm depressed. but how could that make me GAIN weight. this drives me bananas because i know my diet is meticulous- i follow the athletic protocol when i have to and the regular when i have to. I'm just going to have to study ketosis more.

oh yeah on a side note- I thought it was a funny thought that ADT was getting free advertising from birds... pretty sneaky huh? ah the sweet sounds of... burglery in the morning? haha! Let me know how to start sending you excerpts about my book and if you know more about my training and that obnoxious 1.5 raise on the scale- I'm about to bury it. I mean really WTF is going on- i have done nothing to GAIN weight.nnnGRRRRRRR.
MuayThaiGoddess -
Oh no! Boo on that scale going up. If you find anything out about the muscles retaining water and training, let us all know! Don't be depressed. This diet is temporary. You won't be on it for the rest of your life or anything. It sucks to give up the classes you like, but I guess you gotta if you want to both do this diet and lose weight? That's what everyone seems to say - don't get your heart rate up too much or lift weights while doing IP. That's what I was told at the clinic I go to. So ok, I'll just keep on walking. And it is so nice today! I'm sure your son enjoys the walks you take with him!

Can't wait to read your book. As soon as you can receive private messages on here I'll send you a message every day! We're kindred spirits. I hope some of my happiness is contagious. I see your hilarious temper tantrum (more recent post) and that makes me think of a little kid! So amusing. Um, sort of like my boyfriend last night. We went out for sushi and he was sooo down about everything: the special was Japanese curry and "oh I can't have it, what's that kid eating? mochi? oh I can't have that either"... Turns out he likes tuna but only in the maki roll with rice. The plain fish that we are allowed to have, well of course he doesn't like that! Then we went to Starbucks and for some reason he thought that a vanilla latte would be ok?!? So I had to seem like the meanie in front of the baristas while he asked me what he could have. Decaf coffee or herbal tea. Finally decided on vanilla rooibos tea and then I thought I had Stevia in my purse but I guess I had it in my hand and then wandered around the house and it never made it in my purse. I was like, just have some Splenda for goodness sakes! Whew! Temper tantrum galore. We're not going to repeat the sushi experience anytime soon, I can tell you that for sure! LOL hope he doesn't see this. It was just a bummer that no matter what I said I couldn't cheer him up! "It's temporary, they'll have that special again, after IP you can eat these things again, you're doing great, look at how much weight you've lost, don't you love how much energy you have, your stomach's not upset anymore, isn't it nice not to feel all full and stuffed all the time, isn't it nice not to be hungry, I'm on this diet too I know that it's hard at first..." Couldn't get the rain cloud to migrate away from his head. Oh well he seems much better today. His second weigh-in is tomorrow. I pray to the gods (you have any influence with Athena?) that he had a big loss and gets really encouraged and doesn't think about how he can't have gummy bears anymore. It's driving me crazy!

But we all have our temper tantrums sometimes. I'm glad I don't own a scale (for now) so I can't check how much I weigh on a daily basis- because I would check it in the morning pre-food, after breakfast, after work, at night, etc... After walking the dog, after sit-ups, after a glass of water... You get the idea. Teehee, my coach/chiropractor told me that the "daily wieghers" are driving him nuts! Just take it as it comes and sometimes our weight goes up but it's on a downward trend. I'm a little afraid of the scale on Wednesday. I may have gained back the water weight or whatever since I started phase 3 this week. Oh well, I don't care, all my pants are loose and I look great!

One more funny thing... I thought I was doing something wrong because I've been getting so tired after lunch in the mid-afternoon. Just realized that lately I've been taking a muscle relaxant with lunch. Hmm, wonder why I'm tired? Maybe I'll go take a nap.

I think that's one of the cool things about this message board. Not only is there lots of great diversity, but each of us probably find a person or two here that we very strongly relate to.
