My deficit has been off this week. I don't know if it's because I'm ravenous (likely hormonal) or sloth-like (somewhat depressed) or overly busy in a way that doesn't count in calorie expenditure, but I fear my weigh in today.

I get weeks like that too. In fact I just finished a bad off plan weekend. I think you have to allow that once in a while and not let it get you down. Just let the good days outnumber the bad.

I'm not losing weight as fast as I had hoped and sometimes that gets to me. I just remind myself that it took years to put this weight on so I shouldn't expect it to come off overnight. (I can wish though)

But I am slowly losing & they say a slow steady loss is more likely to stay off than a rapid loss. But I would love to see 2-3 pounds a week like some of the other people I see.

Well, hopefully everyone has a great day.

I was up 0.4 at my weigh in last night. I'm hoping it's hormonal. my numbers say I should have been down at least 1. Sigh.

Having all this data is sometimes a blessing and a curse.

Don't be discouraged if your weight isn't matching what you think you should have lost. I've noticed that due to water fluctuations I might be a day or two off, but I seem to always end up matching pretty closely.

I received my BB on 1/9/12 and to date it's calculated that I have a deficit of 25,999, which should equal 7.43 pounds. To date I've lost 7.8 pounds. I know that I overestimate my calories. If I can't weigh my food to know exactly what I'm eating I always overestimate my portions. I would rather be on the safe side.

I love this tool & knowing. You just need to remember that your body may retain water at various times of the month, sometime due to what you ate or drank the day before. Heck I just lost 1.2 pounds literally overnight. But that seems to be what happens with me, little losses, a little gain & then whoosh, a big loss.

Just keep up the good work.

Thanks for that I can become a little obsessive about numbers and results. Okay, maybe a lot obsessive.

Finally, I'm putting this thing to real use - Of course I had to get sick just as it was here!

Yesterday I burned 2550 calories, consumed 1550, and had 58 minutes of exercise. Yay!

Melissa, how big of a deficit to you try to shoot for? The first week or two I was trying to get a 1,000 calorie deficit, but I haven't been able to do it on a regular basis.

Most days I only burn about 2,200 calories, once in a while I can get over that 2,500 burn if I exercise in the morning & stay pretty active all day.

What's everyone's average calories burned?

I'm trying to get a burn of around 2300 a day and a deficit of around 500-700 a day. Wednesdays are my 'bigger' days at the gym (I do two 45 minute classes back to back) and I also walked a bit that day.

Yesterday, I got a 2400 calorie burn and a 700 deficit - did one hour of light cardio.

Today I'll shoot for about the same.

What I'm finding is that I'm pushing myself more. I run up the stairs instead of walk. I don't mind making the extra trips to and from the car to get in a few more steps for the day. Last night, goofy me, I did jumping jacks for a few minutes to get my activity number a bit higher and to get a few more steps. Just shy of 8,000 yesterday.

On days I'm a slug (like when I was not feeling great with the cold), I only burned 1700 for the day. THAT was eye opening.

I love how it motivates me to move more throughout the day. it's worth it just for that.

I sync my BB to the computer several times a day, to see if I need to get in more activity, or if I can eat more, due to my calories burned.

Bodymedia is selling their regular bodymedia fit for 50% off. BUT... you have to have the coupon linked to you through email. You can get that one for $111 through amazon, but with this coupon you can get it for $89.99.

It's not the one I have, but it is similar. I also have the display (sold separately) so I can see how I'm doing throughout the day without having to sync it to a phone or computer.

Anyway, if anyone wants me to forward them the coupon, send me a PM with their private email and I'll forward it to you. I don't get anything from this, just passing on a good deal.

I'm LOVING my new gizmo. Only time I take it off is to charge it, shower and when DH and I are intimate - it bugs him to know it's there, so I take it off.

Unhappy

So I have had two weeks in a row now where my deficit hasn't appeared on the scale. Has anyone experienced this? I was negative over 5-6000 total for each week and nada. I'm feeling frustrated, and that I'm going to be stuck at 138.something forever. I know it's only two weeks, but a deficit is a deficit, right?

Bodies just don't work like that, at least most bodies don't. We have times we hold water and times we release water. Now, if you are REALLY counting everything you are putting in your mouth, you ARE losing fat, but you might be holding water.

I tend to hold water for about 3 weeks a month. Yep, you read that right. I will hold water beginning with TTOM, then it will release to about pre-ttom weight, then I will gain for a few days as I approach ovulation. Then I will hold for a couple days following ovulation and then WHOOSH!!!! I will lose anywhere from 5-13 pounds in about 1 week time and then start the cycle all over again.

Of course, now that I'm much closer to my ideal weight, I'm at most going to see a 5 pound loss a month, but in the beginning I saw up to 14 pounds a couple times.

So... wait and see - if you are counting correctly, your body will catch up. Just keep doing what you need to do for deficits. Our bodies aren't computers, so don't expect them to behave like one.

OK I'm annoyed. I just did zumba for and hour and 10 min and my display shows.

1204 cals
3634 steps
35 min activity !

Why only 35 ?

grumble grumble

It even beeped at me to tell me I had achieved the (whatever it was lol calories burned i think). if that was so then it should be well over 2250 cals
If that were true... HELP

AND when I hooked up tp the computer cals burned only read 1140 not matching what my display says
