I found this somewhat controversial article on the relationship between exercise and weight loss. I thought it was interesting because I could see a lot of myself in it. Lately, I have been exercising more, only to find that I am hungrier and have actually gained 2-3 pounds... possibly muscle, water weight, etc... possibly not. I was also a very active competitive athlete when I was a teen and at my highest weight. I think a lot of the harsh training I did put me into frenzy mode at meal time.
I guess it is just a good thing for me to be aware of, especially right after a workout. It reinforces the principle of "moderation in all things," which I think is a big part of IE.
Hello and good morning.
I am new to this forum and new to thos intuitive eating thread. It's nice to meet y'all.
I am so glad that you have this thread going. I have read several non-dieting books in the past, but life has always gotten in the way of my implementing "naturally slim" or intuitive eating principles. I really need to do this---lose weight and lose the dieting mentality, too.
2happytummy. I just got back from a 2 week trip to see my kids in WA and OR and am ready to STOP eating so much!!! Amazing what all that food does to you. But that's vacation for you. I need to get this last 30 lb off just like you, happy. But I lost 30 already and have gotten kind of content with that. No more!!!

I refuse to exercise. It's a horrible experience for me. I have lost 85 pounds without it. However, at a lower weight, I love to swim! I don;t count laps, I swim until I don't feel like swimming any more. I walk when it's nice out, again, don't count steps or miles. I enjoy the scents, the scenery and the weather. I love to move when I have the time and the inclination, I don't count how many times a week I do things. I'm happy!
