And this is the list of all books that only got 1 vote. Anyone want to 2nd them so I can narrow the list down to 100? [I'd love 100 books with multiple votes!]. I've listed the title and author's last name.

Many of these are great books, but these three are definitely in my top 100:

Crime and Punishment - Dostoyevsky
The Corrections - Franzen
The Pickwick Papers - Dickens

Everything is Illuminated by Jonathan Safran Foer
I'd forgotten about Murakami; haven't read "The Wind-up Bird" but loved "Kafka on the Shore"
Would second "Atonement"

And agree with everyone who put "A Prayer for Owen Meany" on their list - that's a pretty earth-shatteringly good book

Before I even read over your list I'm chiming in with my own suggestions from those you had missing a "second" vote :

These are the suggestions that I only received authors for with no specific works. Anyone have sugestions as to what the authors "best work" is?

Chuck Palahnuick - an acquired taste - very bizarre, quite violent. Not what I would consider a top 100, but interesting if you like contemporary literary fiction with a lot of testosterone & a little chemical enhancement.... I found "lullaby" a good read

And this is the list of all books that only got 1 vote. Anyone want to 2nd them so I can narrow the list down to 100? [I'd love 100 books with multiple votes!]. I've listed the title and author's last name.

1984 - Orwell
A Tree Grows in Brooklyn - Smith
Everything is Illuminated - Foer --> EXCELLENT
Frankenstein - Shelley
Howard's End - Forster
Jitterbug Perfume - Robbins --> I much preferred "Even Cowgirls Get the Blues"
Lonesome Dove - McMurty --> EXCELLENT
The Kitchen God's Wife - Tan
The Little Prince - De Saint Exipery
The Wind-up Bird Chronicle - Murakami --> EXCELLENT if you like Murakami (or other magical realism writers)

Others that I think are quick & fun but not so good as to make a top 100
The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society - Shaffer
White Oleander - Fitch

Hated it :
The Elegance of the Hedgehog - Barbery
Eat, Pray, Love - Gilbert
