Default A little bit YAHOO a little bit OUCH!

So first the good news. I attempted and succeeded at running 8 minutes walking 2 minutes on the treadmill today! YAY! Yes, I am the same chick that almost died trying to run 2 minutes walk 5 minutes just a couple months ago.

Now here's the bad news - I have always had a pain in my right side, just under my ribs, even when walking, if I've gone a long time. I assume that this is a side stitch. It is always in the same place, and it's never been anything more then mildly painful. But today, by the end of my third interval it was extremely painful. I pushed through but it really hurt. It subsided in about 1-2 minutes once I returned to walking after the 8 minute run.

Anyone have issues with side stitches? Is there anything I can do to prevent them? Do you build up...um...immunity once you become a more practiced runner?

It's a breathing thing. Try breathing every third foot strike-- RIGHT left right LEFT right left RIGHT left right LEFT right left and so on.
