Thanks Melissa, that looks great!!
We had a nice visit and she brought candy for the kids, and us too ??? She cannot control herself. Then she'll tell me they are chubby or worry about how skinny they are-- all w/in the same week-- when they are NOT, either thin or fat...-- really, so not. They are fit and strong and eat great foods and fruits and veggies-- even salad.

Thanks guys,

I am new to dailyplate too, so it did seem a little strange to burn 350 cal walking behind a power lawn mower for 30min

In your opinions do you think fitday is a better place to keep up with my cals. I haven't even looked at it ever.

If I continue to us DP I should just set a calorie level and go by that no matter the exercise calories? Right?

I think that is a good idea....if you want to lose say 3 lbs a week...thats 1,500 calories a day you need to cut from what it would take to maintain the weight your at. From what I have read....if you take your current weight and multiply it times 12 that should be the amount of calories to maintain your weight without any exercise...

so you would say 155 times 12 = 1860

So if you ate 1200 calories you would only need to burn 840 calories a day in exercise to burn your 3 lbs a week....that sounds a little tough....maybe you could shoot for 2 lbs a week???

Try www.shape.com and look under the tools section for calories burned. You can enter your wieght and activity and time and see how many calories burned.....or www.caloriecheckbook.com

hope this helps.

I do have to say that 3lbs a week is not a reasonable amount to lose if you're starting at 155. Most conventional wisdom recomments 2lbs a week OR 1% of your bodyweight, if you're at the extreme high end or close to your goal.

For you, 1.5 lbs a week would be healthy and reasonable.

I know that we all WANT to lose quickly, but we all have to be realistic. When I first started losing weight at 237, I could drop 2 or even 3 lbs in a week. Now, I do well to drop 1.5 a week or less. And that's not even worrying about water weight, my TOM, etc.

.

I don't believe it and I can't figure out what's happening -

this morning I was UP to 154.6 (from 152.2!!) - and I haven't been doing anything different and TOM is far, far away.

feeling very discouraged and disheartened.

Photochick - I'm the same - I consider it a good week when I manage to lose 1.5 or more. My current goal is a pound a week which I think is a healthy and achievable loss.

I managed to get back down to ticker this morning - yay!

Morning gang! Down just a smidgen...

Start Weight: 159
Current Weight: 158.6 (-.4, 4.6 to go)
Goal Weight: 154

Miriam, hang in there, this isn't usually a linear process. If you haven't changed anything in your diet or exercise, then just keep moving forward. Eventually you KNOW the scale will reflect the changes.

Morning losers,

Miriam, don't despair. Push water today and try to get a very sweaty workout in. You'lll feel immediately better.

I am the same weight, happy for no gain... waiting for TOM.
Ate 50/50 wholegrain/reg pasta with vodka sauce and turkey meatballs for dinner last night. Made it for the kids but I was really hungry and it was WOW sooo good.
Bonus for me--it did not lead to an out of control moment.

I'm out of town for the holiday weekend. I'm going to try to keep my wits about me. I don't want to blow all this work on some fleeting bbq tasties...

see you when I get back!! Have a nice weekend...

Hey Girls,

I'm down another pound, which is exciting.

SW-214
CW-211.5
GW-209

Hang in there miriam and theresia! Like Josephine said, weight loss is rarely linear. I'm on my millionth 5 lb. challenge and I've been up and down. As long as it keeps going down overall, you're ok.

What are everyone's plans for the 4th?

We never go anywhere because the fire danger is so high here, and there's always some yahoo setting off fireworks. We always stay home...just in case. Plus, the dogs get a little nuts with all the noise.

Have a great day, everyone!

Congrats on the lost pound, whoo hoo!

Yeah, we already have yahoos shotting off fireworks and it driving me bonkers. I think it is crazy that it is illegal to shoot them off but they are for sale in EVERY store, including the grocery store.
