Default less weight=less makeup?

At my heaviest I wore tons of makeup and spent way too much time on my hair. In fact, nights when I didn't have time for makeup/hair, I wouldn't go out.

Now that I'm at goal, I'm ok leaving the house with just a little mascara on.

My question is if anyone else has noticed they wear less makeup at (or approaching) goal??? A friend of mine said when she lost weight she actually dressed herself up more cuz she wanted the "full package". I'm just curious about how or if it has changed for everyone else.

I've been wearing less makeup, I've noticed. I think it looks better, too.

I would NEVER even go through the McDonald's drive-thru without makeup on 35 pounds ago! LOL And today, I went into an actual grocery store to make my weekend salads without any makeup. And this was with my hair tied back and in my workout clothes since I just got done working out. I wore a lot of makeup because I didn't want people to think I just didn't care about my appearance AT ALL. And now that I lost some weight and looking healthier, I don't need that make up to prove I care ---- or to hide behind something.

Wow. Did that make any sense at all? LOL

I'm like your friend... I am doing way more make up and spending more time on my hair. I think I am proud of how I am looking. I also feel "worthy" I guess. While I was overweight I wore slouchy clothes, barely makeup and I never wore my jewelry. Now I am enjoying all that again. I just need to work on my shoe situation.

I actually never wore makeup when I was heavy because whenever I tried to dress myself with a little mascara, everyone noticed and I didn't like the attention it drew towards myself-- I wanted to be invisible so no one could 'see how fat I was.'

Now that I've lost the weight, I kinda like wearing makeup. I still only do it a couple times a month, or in the evenings on weekends, but it is a nice change

Usually, I just don't wear makeup because it is too much work :P

I'm also one who won't step out without makeup and my hair looking presentable. I've worked way too hard to look this good to look less than my best! I wear pretty light makeup and don't do that much to my hair, though, but it does make a difference. It seems like most of us are opposite of the way we were, if we didn't care much before we lost weight, we do now, and vice versa.

I am the same way, tattoodles. When I was heavy beyond comfort I sort of "hid" behind my hair and heavy eye makeup, as if that would deflect attention away from the roundness of my face.

I thought this was really interesting cuz I used makeup not to be invisible but cuz I thought it would distract from how big I'd gotten.

I wouldn't say I wear more or less, but I definitely make more of an effort with my whole appearance...hair, makeup, clothes, jewelry. Of course, that doesn't mean I am opposed to stopping at the store post-workout to get a few things (and would have NEVER done that before, LOL!)

I used to wear a lot more makeup- especially foundation and powder. Eating well and exercising really reduced the redness of my skin and also cleared up my acne. No foundation needed now! I do find myself experimenting with more interesting eye shadow colors and lipsticks, but now make-up is more about fun than trying to cover up flaws

I rarely wear makeup, to the point that I gave it all to my daughter. One, I didn't want people to think I was overcompensating for being fat, trying to make my face more presentable. Silk purse from sow's ear, and all that. Two, I didn't really care what people thought about me, for good or bad. Took many years of working on my self esteem to come to that point. But the major one for me, Three, is that makeup makes my face break out like mad, and I absolutely ABHOR pimples.

At my highest and at my lowest, my self-care was the same.

It's the opposite for me - I'm much more likely to put on a little make up now than I was 125 lbs ago. I still don't wear a lot, and I don't wear it all the time, but I used to never wear it, not even for special occasions.

No, it's still related to time of day & formality of the occasion & whether I feel visible or just a face in the crowd.

Make-up for work, make-up for going out with friends.

No make-up for the gym or a quick trip to a gas station or large grocery store outside my immediate neighborhood, or on a work-from-home day on the laptop.

I wouldn't dream of not wearing it while clothes shopping, though. Those dressing room mirrors are brutal. So are the flocks of young girls in Soho, all shopping together.

My make-up habits haven't changed at all. A little eyeliner, shadow and lip gloss when I want to be presentable and none when I'm just running errands. BUT I have noticed that I'm more comfortable throwing my hair up in a pony tail now or wearing my "comfy" clothes/gym clothes to the grocery store. I think I always tried to avoid looking sloppy when I weighed 70 pounds more... I'm more comfortable being casual now. On the other hand, I'm also more comfortable dressing up professional for work now too. idk.
