Default so worth it

Like sasknewfie, I cheated, fell off the wagon Saturday, and swore I would get back on. Have been very careful to be true to induction, and today got a pleasant surprise with the scale, tipped just below 176, (175.8) but that is the first time to see 175 anywhere in a while, so I was really pleased. It was hard to stick with induction again after a cheat fest, but it was worth it.
GOod results.
ahhh

Hi Fatmad,

Congrats on getting right back on plan. I read a lot of forums here and I've noticed that the main problems with cheating/going off plan are 1) that people will feel guilty and defeated and remain off plan for a long period of time and/or 2) developing a pattern of repeatedly cheating/going off plan.

But if you do cheat....the absolutely best thing is to get right back on plan. People think they've done something horrible and feel guilty...so they will continue to cheat, which is the worst possible thing to do. You can prevent a great deal of potential harm by doing what you did.....and it can end up being just a tiny blip on the radar (like it was for you this time) and as long as you don't keep doing this repeatedly, it should not be a problem.

And when I say problem, I mean stalling your loss and becoming frustrated and disillusioned. But for some people, they can factor in regular cheats and be fine with a slower rate of loss (like sarahinparis). But if stalling is gonna make you get upset and risk giving up.....everyone should definitely do what you did and get right back on plan, IMO.

well, the other thing about sticking to plan for a couple of days, the cravings do get less. I had bad cravings on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, but made it. Today at lunch there was no low carb for me as I had requested, so I had to make do just eating the steamed veggies. There was veg. lasagna and cookies for dessert (fresh baked, smelled great) but I had had a very good breakfast, (veggie omelet) and promised myself a delicious supper (lobster!, ceasar salad and broccoli) so I managed. It was hard, but I am not sure I could have done it right after my previous cheat. sticking to plan helped me through I am sure. Weight is back up to 177, so will have to hope for better soon.

Oh, you are absolutely right about that, fatmad. Cheating will cause a period of those dreaded cravings kicking in again. Another good reason for not doing it. For me, when I factor in all the ways I might have to pay for it....it's just not worth it.
