Any Canadians interested in a July walking challenge??? Our neighbors are using miles while we are using Kilometers, so I thought it would be a fine idea to start our own!

Any takers???

I think they are doing about 75 miles a month which works out to 120KMs, but you can pick your own goal, I think we can do ths!!

You'll probably be glad to know that 75 miles is actually 120k, not 165.

Hiya Trixie!! You can pick your own goal for the month!! I'm going for 120kms myself! I think that's alot but you know I walk alot everyday so maybe it won't be as hard as I think it will!!

oh, just so you all know, I'll be away from June 27 till June 30 so please don't think I gave up on any of you!! I'll be here for day 1 of the challenge for sure!!

Ok Im going to start off small, since I know I'd never meet a goal of 120! lol I'm going to aim for about 1/4 of 120, 30km lol I think that is a good place to start for me! I dont walk too much.

Oooo, I'm so in! My husband and I do a lot of walking with our dog each night, so this will be great! I'll ask him when he gets home from work tonight how far we usually walk each day, and then I'll set my goal for July from that! I'll be back!

One quick question...Is it strictly walking or are we also counting any kilometers that we do on our exercise bikes as well? Either way is fine by me, I just want to make sure I'm doing it right. ;)

Can I do this but do biking instead? I bike every morning but don't walk much (not yet anyway, I will go back to it when I get a puppy but who knows when that will be).

Count me in! :carrot: I usually post over on the general monthly walking thread, but it'll be great to have some fellow Cdn's to "walk with"! :)

My goal for June was 75 mi (120k) and found that to fit into my schedule a-ok! July, hmmm, I think I'll up it a little. Let's see... 90 mi (145k). <--- Now that I've type that, it sure does look like a lot. :^:

Anyways, I look forward to getting to know each of you over the next month(s). Best of luck in reaching your goals! :)

In that case I'm going to up mine to 160Kms!! that's um......100 miles I think.....is that right Carla49?

I'm pseudo-Canadian--been here almost four years--and I'd really like to join you all. :^:

I try to aim for at least 2 miles, when I do go walking, which works out at roughly 80 km a month, but it's supposed to be a challenge, right? So, 120 km it is!

How was everyones canada day?? I didn't get any walking in yet.. I havn't been feeling very well, and my monthly visitor is here lol It got really hot today as well, and the air conditioner kept blowing the breaker b/c my bf's stepdad has this place wired wrong.....I'm hoping to get some in tomorrow morning though!!

Canada Day was great but I ate too much at the barbecue. Our air conditioner has been on full time lately. I was even hot watching the fireworks.

I really don't know how much I have been walking or riding my bike so I have decided to divide it up a bit and see how much I actually do of each. I will aim for the 120 km. wonder if I can do it lol I find walking harder than biking so will aim for 40 k walking and 80 k biking. I also lift weights, do aerobics and swim. I lifted weights today and walked.

July 2 Walked 2.5 km

Walking 4.5/40 Biking 9.5/80


Total 14/120

I got in about 21 km cycling around over the weekend. :bike2: Pity I'm only tracking distance walked. :lol:

HIya!!

Just did 7KMs on the stationary bike and I'm going to do more after dinner sometime! I have to kick it up a notch if I'm going to get to 160 KMs!!

I just got off the treadmill. Ran a total of 16 minutes plus some walking. I'll post my kms later. :)

Sounds like everyone is off to a FANTASTIC start! WTG!

I've only managed to get in 8km's thus far (I'm only tracking distance walked). But am hoping to rack up another 6.5 tonight. And the same for tomorrow night. :) That's the plan anyway. ;)

Off to re-register DD for dance class for the Fall... hope everyone has a great day!

Hello Canadians

I'm new to this site. I'm starting walking after not doing much exercise, just been plain lazy. I need to do something to get this last 25 lbs off. I'm setting a low goal of 30 km. I walk out side and there was a beautiful sunset tonight. I posted earlier that I would walk 1 km but did 2.3 am I ever out of shape huffing and puffing away. Shows I need to do more walking lol

Wow, I totally forgot that I posted here! I am glad I can add in my biking! I haven't been biking tho becasue I just moved and I have been unpacking, but I hope to get back on it soon. So by the end of July I would like to bike 200km. I am keeping it lower then I know I can but only because I don't know when I am going to get off my lazy bum and back onto that back. Okay, so I am not lazy, just with all the cleaning and such, I enjoy the extra hour I get to sleep in.

My only walking yesterday was strolling around the food festival, so I don't intend adding that to my total. :D I did get about 10km :bike2: in though, so at least that's a bit of exercise....

Sorry I just got plain lazy and didn't do any exercise for a week. Then I started back exercising but tooooo hot to walk outside so I was exercising indoors. I decided tonight to mall walk so got in 5 k. I can still make my goal. thanks for the Canadian Challenge you got me moving for most of the month :) I think we should do it again next month

I've been cycling a lot over the last week, but not getting much walking in, so I still have 4 km or so to go to hit my target.

All being well, I should get at least that amount in tomorrow when I walk to the Farmers' Market. :)

I set my goal for 30 km and did 33.4 so I'm happy. I'm going to up it to 50 km for next month.

WIW Way to go on making your goal and your also so close to your goal weight congratulations.
