Exclamation Ready for Other Challenges?

For those of you that are new, we have a thread starting at the beginning of every month called "The Monthly Fitness Challenge" where we each set up our own goals that we want to obtain by the end of the month and update it daily to see our own progress. It is usually a "sticky" so if you haven't seen it it is one of the top threads.

Anyway, I was looking through other forums and was wondering if any of you would like to consider and include other challenges as well in the 20-somethings forum.

I will post a poll in a day or two with the suggestions that most people like or would want to participate in and if we get enough people wanting to start a certain one then I'll sticky another new challenge.

Now it's your chance feel free to speak your mind and give input!

* Biking Challenge [miles]
* Walking / Running Challenge [miles]

If you like either one, do post it as well with your own list.

I like the idea of a mileage challenge...

I'm putting myself on a "7 days without sugar" challenge starting tomorrow (baby steps, you know )... Don't know if this is something others want to do but it's something I NEED to do.

I guess there's any number of things we could challenge ourselves for: water intake, fruit/veggie consumption, calorie goals, name your trigger food and go without it for a month... I don't know! A lot of the other challenges I see on the forums are cumulative minutes/miles amongst everyone: everyone works towards the same goal instead of individual ones and does what they can.

I'd be interested to see other people's ideas on challenges, as I'd love to join one other than a fitness challenge (though that one's good for me too)!

I would be definitely interested in a Walking/Running or even a Biking challenge... I guess Biking would be easiest, since I could use a stationary at the gym... Let me know whichever works... I love challenges

I really liked the points challenge the couple times we did it.

A couple ideas:

Points Challenge
Ounces of water
Pounds lost as a group
Inches lost as a group
Veggies/Fruit eaten (I will not be in that one )
Britosmart's "So long without a certain food"
The 21-Day Challenge
Number of good meals
Macronutrient goals
Total minutes cardio, strength, or stretch

I think that's all I got!

Well I personally like the minutes challenge, I think it incorporates the most types of exercise. It always motivates me to participate in them, if I felt I had to stark biking in order to do so I probably wouldnt Maybe distance - although I would have no idea what to set as a goal for that. I vote minutes still and perhaps an additional challenge.

I like the idea of a cumulative challenge, too. I can easily slack off if my actions only affect me, but I hate to be the one to bring the group down. I could definitely help out with ounces of water consumed, because I drink a ridiculous amount of water.

What about having a separate challenge to incorporate ALL of our minutes total?

I like the idea of a points challenge. They have one at the 100 lb club each month. I'll be doing it in April. I think you get 2 points for clean eating, 1 point for exercise, and 1 point for water.

I like that ALL minutes challenge. We could also include in that a total pounds loss challenge, that might be fun to see how much totaly we all could lose together in one month!!! Like 20 somethings lose 100 pounds in the month of April or something like that, I really don't know what would be realistic, I guess everyone could bid their goal and we could add it all up.

I like a total pounds goal! Everyone could just post what they hope to lose in April and we'll add it up, so say 13 members do it we could potentially lose like 65 pounds! That's a lot of pounds! Total minutes would work too since that's what we track now, and cumulatively if everyone's goal was 1000m anyway, we'd get a heckuva lot of minutes in a month.

i am just plain confused now - all those ideas!

i like the minutes challenge, just because anyone can participate - it doesn't matter what your choice of exercise is. April is my month!

i think that a nutrition based challenge would be beneficial for us as it is one area that we often confess to slipping up in. i think the points based one would work as sexyrevealed has mentioned. it is pretty general, but still obtainable for all plans.

I might try the minutes too. maybe it will get me motivated to DO something. I go for walks almost every day anyway so that would be cool.
