Default Ready to try again...

I fell off the calorie counting & dieting wagon for 6 months! I am finally tired of avoiding the scale and am ready to try again. I plan to stock up on food & vitamins this week and start my official diet next Monday (2/13/06). I am too close to 300 pounds (last time I weighed myselft I was at 265) to feel comfortable in my own skin. I am tired of baggy shirts & pants. I want to touch my toes again (lol). I want to walk and not be out of breath.

Fallen, I know what it's like to fall off. I just want to tell you what can help you out on getting back in there:

Foods to consider:

Progresso(or any) fat free soups(they fill you up. Just check the label for sodium content)

Any "lean" frozen foods

Slimfast meal shakes, meal bars

frozen veggie blends(they come in huge bags so you can just steam a cup or 2 every day-very low in calories)

chicken breast, real or cold cuts

water

And to start exercising again, maybe walk for 20 minutes, 3 days a week until you can take it up to 45 min or an hour. Me personally, I walk 30 min., 3 days a week, and don't plan to go any higher, so that I can maintain this, and if i lower after i reach my goal, my body won't go into shock and gain it all back in 2 weeks!

That's just my two cents! Way to go on getting back in the game, and good luck chickie!

Congrats on taking the step to get back on track! I'm 23 and am at about 280 pounds right now, so I more than feel your pain!

Howdy!! This seems to be a really great group of people here. I can't say "women" because there are guys here too.

Are you planning on journalling or just guesstimating your food intake? A lot of people use Fitday.com (it's free) to track their calories. I prefer BalanceLog because it's on my PC, PDA and I can journal via the website. Then again, I sit in front of my computer every day. $49 for the PC and PDA version, $29 for just the PDA version. I'm not sure how "loyal" I'd be to journalling otherwise.

I use Mastercook version 9 to figure out the calories in recipes. You can find it at Best Buy, Target, Amazon.com. Versions 8 and 9 have a new feature called the Web Import. VERY nice feature that makes snagging recipes from the internet a snap. Amazon has this for $18.99.

A good pocket calorie counter book is by Calorie King. Amazon.com has that for around $8.

See you around!

Kimberly

Thanks for all the encouragement!

Kimberly: I plan to journal my food intake...I slip up if I don't know the exact amount of calories.

Mia: Thanks for the suggestions. I've written the down to take with me to the grocery store.

Hello Fallen... Good luck on your start on Monday with calorie counting..You can do it and have faith in you that you can acheive your goals. I am close in weight level, have over 100 Lbs to loose..currently 410...and have started fresh with calorie counting too. You can PM anytime for that moral support.. Again.. Good luck and looking forward on hearing about your start!
