Hi guys
After my 5 pound lose yesterday--I was feeling great, and like I said yesterday--I have no cravings or wants of anything else, but, what I have to eat. Last night, my hubby wanted to try a Brazilian buffet (Braserio)--I wasn't happy---I know with a lot of buffets, it is quantity of food--not quality. Anyway, what made it easy was, I only ate protein. I had a taste of the paella--the rice and calamari was not tasty---so--it made it good because I wasn't tempted into eating delicious spanish rice. I didn't have my bar at night, because I knew I had moe then my share of protein for dinner--plus, I was so full from dinner--I didn't need the bar.
Today--today is another story. I took my boss out to lunch today for her birthday. We went to a place called Gash of Japan. It was TERRIFIC!!! They make the food right in front of you.It was fun. ANyway----I had some filet mignon and shrimp---I know--I shouldn't have had the two combined---and I shouldn't have beef the 1 st week after doing Jet Start--but, I guess I am just doing my Jet Start a few more days!!!!!!! (Fooling myself)---I only had one spoonful of rice the rest was veggies and protein. I had 3 glasses of water there and had 50 ounces since I came home---32 ounces this morning--I am WAY over my 64 ounces. I have to drink that sodium out of me.
I will probably weigh in Tuesday or Wednesday since I didn't follow 100% this weekend. I know I didn't gain anything because there were no carbs---we'll see.
Anyway---it has cooled off a little here in NY---we are having really bad rain this afternoon (thunder and lightning)---it will stay cool for a little while anyway.
Hope everyone is doing great.
It was exciting today--I wore a sundress that I wore and fit into a few years ago---my hubby and son insisted that it looked terrrific (it did)
My husband has been so terrific with this entire dieting thing and he is so happy. I called him to let him know about the 5 pounds. When he saw me---he said "Hi skinny" Well---I think another 30 pounds and I will be back to my old self. It doesn'y seem too bad---since I already lost 50---30 doesn't seem likeit will be too far off---especially with my motivation!!!
Hope you are all doing GREAT!!!!!!!
Take Care
Margaret

Good morning everyone! Well I didn't do so well over the weekend. I didn't get all of my veggies in and fruits. I also had wine last night. Well, back on track today! I will go and weigh in tomorrow. I need to recoup a little today. LOTS OF WATER! Margaret, congrats on looking great in your sundress! It is wonderful having support like that. Last night I looked at my husband and said, do you know how much weight I've lost? He said 10 pounds? I was like yea! He was so excited for me. I guess its really just hit me. I have been trying for 2 years to lose and finally I have. I guess I am just scared that it all a joke. I know that sounds silly, but I just can't believe it. Now only 41.5 pounds to go!
I hope everyone has a great "on the plan" day!

Please excuse my ignorance but what exactly is LA or LAWL as it is referred. I've looked at several LA threads but cannot decern what this program is.

Any web-links would be appreciated

Thanks

Hi, everyone! It looks like you all are doing great! I ahve gained at my weigh in today. I don't know why. I think the last counselor weighed me incorrectly or something. I should ahve lost. I am eating perfectly On Plan. I will keep trying and see how well Friday's weigh in goes.

We may not get our vacation at the end of the month. I don't want to bore all of you with details but my hubby may not get off work. He is too important to be gone while someone else is on vacation as well. This is what his boss told him. He isn't the final decision maker. I am upset and hopefully they will give him some time off. It is the only time he can take till next year. He really needs the break. Maybe, someone will realize he needs the time. I need a break also!

Marcie, you are doing great! Over 50 pounds is awsome. i remember how wonderful I felt then! You should be proud and don't worry about the restaurant you deserved it! I keep trying to tell myself also that the last pounds should be easy. I am getting bored but I am trying so hard. Good Luck!

Janie and sharon, how are you 2 doing out of town?

John, We are all members of LA Weightloss Diet center. It is a program we all follow you can visit their web page for more info and to see if a center is near you. www.laweightloss.com

I will talk to all of you later!

Hi Friends,
Went to Laweightloss this morning and lost 3 pounds since I have been here at my Mom's
She joined today. Hopefully this will do good for her too.
I am at a total loss of 36 1/2 pounds in 13 weeks.
This will really help me here since my MOm is on the program too.
She starts her jet start tomorrow. Just got back from Kroger to get her unlimited steak. She may as well enjoy it now.
They are very nice here too.,
Hope everyone has a great holiday.

It sounds like all you ladies are doing great on L.A. Weightloss. I am more than 100 lbs. overweight and am thinking about joining. I do Weight Watchers just about every spring and lose 50 lbs. or more every time, then gain it all back during fall/winter. I just can't make myself start that cycle all over again this time. I visited the L.A. Weightloss website, but it's not too informative. They really don't give much information on the actual program. I gather, from some of your posts, that it is a high protein/low carb. plan. Could someone please tell me more?

1. Do the counselors help you to plan out your menu? Or, just give you guidelines?

2. Is it an exchange-type program, like the old Weight Watchers and Deal-A-Meal (Richard Simmons)?

3. What is different about L.A. Weightloss that is making you successful?

4. I've heard that it can be quite expensive...from $300-$800. Is this true? What does the money include? What are the additional costs?

5. What kind of a shopping list do you have?

Sorry for asking so many questions, but I am scared to go to the free consultation without being armed beforehand, if you know what I mean. I'm on a pretty tight budget and I've given money to so many other diet centers in the past....Jenny Craig, for one. I liked the fact that JC planned all your meals, but they were robbing me blind with the cost of their food. Also, they wanted me to lose at a ridiculously slow pace. They were constantly upping my calories because I was losing too quickly.

Thanks so much for any help you can give me!

Hi Amberly!

LA WL's program is low carb and high protein. My plan is the gold plan and this is what I can have: 2 proteins, 2 starches, 3 veggies, 3 fruits, 1 dairy and 1 fat. LOTS AND LOTS OF WATER. At LAWL you are required bars you have to buy. In my case I hate the bars so I get the jello. Most people love the bars, I am just a wierd eater! There are some foods that are unlimited, some you can have three days a week and some you can only have once a week. The counselor tells you in the beginning what you can have. You write down everything in a journal they give you and then you go to the center 3 times a week to weigh in a to meet with your counselor. The support is wonderful and it keeps me strict on what I eat for the most part. The cost of the program is different everywhere. It cost me 349.00 for 52 weeks and you have to pay that up front. Then it is about 32.00 a week for the bars. The bars are high in protein and burn fat and they say are essential to the program. I can honestly say that I have tried everything and this has been the only success for me. It sounds very expensive but gosh it is so worth it. I love this plan! This is what I eat in a day:
Breakfast: Apple, LA lite (jello)
Snack: Carrot Sticks
Lunch: Grilled Chicken and a salad or Healthy Choice or Subway sandwhich(1 a week), watermelon
Snack: LA Lite (jello)
Dinner: Grilled Chick, green beans, apple
I have only lost 10 pounds but that is a big step in the right direction for me! Good luck and if you have anymore questions let us know! Since I have only been on LAWL for 5 weeks so some of the others may be able to describe it better.

Hi guys
Just a quick note to say "Hi"
I have beeen doing great---drinking ALL my water plus some.... I have still the same feeling--no wants of anything, but what I am suppossed to have.Today, I am on Express (3 bars and no starches, one less fruit, no fat...... doing great so far. I had been doing in the beginning the express for a few months--but, when I had gone on vacation--I haven't been able to do the express (not on track) Hopefully, it will help.
I haven't gone to weigh in since Saturday--are they closed tomorrow----most probably--I will weigh in Thursday---will let you know how I did.

Marcie-----are you measuring your veggies?----I know I wouldn't have veggies three times a day---the salad alone would be at least 2 veggies. You might be eating too much. Imagine, too many veggies being bad for you? (LOL)

Hi Amberly,
Yes, I have to lose 941/2 more pounds. Started out 130. I started at the end of March.
I love the bars. The chocolate ones. Crunch, Mint and Double chocolate the best. The white chocolate are not my favorite.
Yes it is Hi protein and lo carb. But after being on this for 13 weeks it seems to good to be true.
It is $6 a week here. They told me 43 weeks to lose and a processing fee of $60. Here in Michigan it is $70 . That is what they charged my Mom when she signed up yesterday. They also gave her 52 free weeks after she gets down to her goal weight. I have to talk to my center about that.
Then you just weigh in once a week when you are at goal.
I am a lifetime member at Weight Watchers and yes the Jenny craig food is way too much. I couldn't afford to feed the rest of my family after I had bought my food.
If you buy bars in bulk it is lots cheaper. Almost $5 a box.

Good luck in your choice.
Sharon

EVERYONE BEWARE. TOMORROW IS THE 4thOF JULY.
HEARD THERE ARE LOTS OF GOODIES ABOUT TO MAKE THINGS BAD THE DAY AFTER.

Hi all. I promise I won't hang out here regularly and rain on your parade but I just had to correct one thing: I PAID for 52 weeks of LAWL UP FRONT. When I wasn't at my goal weight by my goal date which was only 24 weeks into the plan, they wanted me to start paying the $8 a week (or whatever it is now) to purchase more weight loss weeks at week 25, 26, etc....even though you have paid for 52 weeks!!! They said that my contract was for 52 weeks...24 weeks of weight loss, 6 weeks of stabilization and 22 weeks of maintenance. If you aren't at goal by the GOAL DATE you have to start paying again. NOT at the end of 52 weeks. THAT is when I quit and let my 28 paid up weeks go to waste... no way was I paying DOUBLE when they gave me no insight or suggestions as to why my weight loss wasn't going as projected. They just waited until my goal date went by and asked for more money. Of course if I hadn't "violated my contract"....ie cheated...EVER I could have kept going for the full 52 weeks without paying more. BUT lets get real here ladies. has anyone EVER not broken a rule, on purpose or by accident, EVER?????? I'm convinced that's why there are so many rules.... to trip you up...so no one ever gets by violation free.

Hey everyone!
Well I slipped up a little yesterday! Had some bad things, but I am back today. Its the 4th and my husband has to work until 11:00 p.m. This makes me nervous b/c I know I will be sitting around not doing anything. You guys know what happens then. For me I start snacking. NOT TODAY! I am just going to try and keep myself busy. Well my short term goal was to be at 182 by today and I didn't make it. I am at 186.5. I guess that week while I was in training really hurt me.

Margaret, I have not been measuring my veggies. You could be right. Do you think that could be hurting me? It would make me happy not to have to have 3 veggies! I am always trying to cram them in b/c I am such a picky eater.
Barbs, I paid up front as well, but I didn't realize that if I haven't lost all of my weight in the 52 weeks that I will have to pay more. I guess I better speed things up.

Hope everyone has a great 4th of July!!!:dizzy:

Hi Ladies: I lurk around becuz I used to be on the plan. Just a clarification of your weeks based on goal weight.

If you do not reach your goal weight on time buying extra weeks is a option--you do not have to. I did not reach my goal weight on the time line I was given--I chose not to give them any more money..I won't go into detail why..but anyway I just went right to stabilization/maintainence...I just continued to loose on my own. It worked out fine. If you feel you need to pay them additional money to get your goal weight...that is a option..not a rule..or you can choose not to give them any more money like I did.

You ladies are doing good, you have the right attitude. You do what works for you.

Hi all!
Well made it through the day yesterday and did well. Went to weigh in this morning and I was up .5 a pound. I am not too worried about it b/c it is TOM. I usually gain 2-3 pounds. They took my measurements and I have lost 10.5 inches total. I just can't believe it. My clothes still fit the same so I guess it doesn't seem real. How much weight did y'all lose before your clothes started fitting loser? I am just so ready to drop a size! Imagine if I had been exercising for the last 6 weeks. I really need to pick that back up again.
I hope everyone had a great 4th!

Hi, Ladies!

Marcie, don't worry about the slip you are doing great! We are human and I know you were working so hard! I missed my July 4th goal by a few pounds as well. Don't worry we will make it! Exercising is definitely helping me know. You will probably drop a size all the sudden that is what I do. Good Luck!

Maggy, I might try express again. It might help me along. I am so close to goal my body must know it.

Ladidi, I am glad you did well. I won't be purchasing extra weeks either. I will make goal or be very close.

Barbs88, your center sounds totally different than the one I go to. I paid for 33 weeks and mine includes 6 weeks of stab and then 1 year of maintenance. I wonder why yours was different? I got a breakdown when I paid up front that told me how many weeks I Have. It says 33 weight loss weeks + 6 stab. weeks and 1 year of maintenance. I really like all the rules they give me. It forces me to eat vegetables and eat healthy. When I didn't have as many rules on WW I just kept choosing the fattening foods to fill up my points. I am glad you are having success on WW. We all are different and need to lose weight differently. For me I made the right choice. I am sorry you didn't like LAWL but all of us do and we are trying so hard. I am very close to my goal and I am trying to stay positive and give support to all the ladies here. You wouldn’t like it if I kept saying how terrible WW is would you? I am sorry if I seem mean but I am trying so hard and I really need all the support I can get right now. The ladies here are wonderful and really help me when I am struggling. I was here reading for support when I read one of your posts. I really was having a bad day and I didn't need all the negative stuff you said. Please, try to understand we are all here to help each other. When you keep telling all of us how horrible LA is it makes it hard. Again, I am sorry if I am hurting your feelings but please stop telling us how horrible LAWL is. I think it is wonderful and I follow all the rules and I lose an average of 3 pounds per week.

Sharon, you are doing great! Wish your Mom Luck for me!

I am so sorry for my rambling I am just tired of negative comments. I am working hard at LA and I want to read about good things not bad.

We had a party and I stayed OP. I just planned it so I knew what I would be eating. I am so glad I did OK. I ate watermelon for dessert and I was so full! I hope all of you are OK. Did you have a happy 4th? I am weighing in tomorrow. I just got over my TOM so I hope the water weight is gone now!

Well, I better go now. I am sure I bored all of you.

Karen, thanks for the encouragment! I really needed that! Also thanks for saying what I didn't have the guts to, about LA WL. I was the same way about WW as you were. I filled up on carbs and that is why i couldn't lose the weight. The rules that are put in force for us at LA WL is only for our own good. I am glad we have them b/c if I hadn't found LA WL I would be in serious trouble weight wise. I found it just in the nick of time. I am glad you had a good fourth. Congrats on doing so well! Good luck on your weigh in tomorrow!

Hi, everyone! I am back here again. Sorry to bore all of you!

Marcie, thanks so much! I am a carb. eater also. I agree totally about WW. I just think this one is perfect for me. I need rules! I can tell some bad stuff about my WW experiences but I don’t because I don’t want to discourage any WW ladies! I use another board for support as well and lots of them are on WW and I don’t talk about my negative experiences with them. I just think it would be hard for them. You are doing great and I am sure you will make your goal!!!

I weighed in this morning and I was so happy. I weighed on Mon as well and I had a water weight gain since it was TOm and I was constipated (sorry ladies) I was upset because I jumped back up to 180.5 with all the water weight. I was sure it was water because I felt swollen ect. It still made me depressed so I kept on program and exercising. I lost about 4 pounds. I am so glad to be regular and not be so bloated. I asked if I can take a bran pill I saw in the vitamin section at Wal- Mart. They told me I can since it is sugar free and no carbs. I think Spring Valley makes it. It is similar to fiber con ect just pure bran. I might start taking it daily so I don't have the constipation again. It is really uncomfortable!

I couldn’t find my Gold plan card this morning. Someone at my party on Wed. Stole it!!! I was so mad because no one mentioned my Weightloss and I know they all hadn’t seen me since I weighed 254. How rude was that? I asked for a new on at LA this morning. I thought you ladies would think that was funny. I wish someone had asked me about how I lost the weight ect. I bet they read my diary and weigh also. Yikes!

Well, I better go now I am boring you guys. I just felt like I needed to share lately. It keeps me from eating when I read and post.

Later,
Karen

Karen, way to go on losing that 4 pounds! You are an example as to not get frustrated and keep on trucking! I am in the same boat as you were with TOM. I went back and weighed in again today and I had lost the .5 I gained yesterday. Still 3 more days on TOM so I won't get frustrated. I will weigh in Monday and we'll see what happens. I am so sorry noone mentioned your weight loss. Honestly, they were probably jealous. I mean you have lost what over 80 pounds?? They had to have noticed! I can't believe someone stole your card! Oh my gosh! They are definatly jealous! You are doing great and should just laugh at them. Although I know it is nice when people take notice of our hard work. Were these folks overweight? I used to get so jealous of friends I saw from college who were big then and now small. Keep sharing with us!! It keeps me going!

Happy Friday!!!

Like I said I won't hang out here and rain on your parade. I'm happy you are all doing great. I wasn't trying to be "negative", just pointing out the financial "loop hole" of buying extra weeks. If I had known about it during my weight loss weeks I may have been more demanding with them to get solutions or advice as to why I wasn't getting to goal as quickly as I should. I was just checking in to see if any of the old gang was still around. If LAWL is your thing...great. Just be aware of all the costs involved.

Hey girls! Looks like everyone is doing OK. I only gained 3/4 lb over my vacation. We walked a lot, so I was really lucky I didn't gain more. I didn't do too good but I'm back on track today! It's like I'm starting all over. I've been having so much trouble with sticking to it, that I'm grateful I didn't gain anymore than I did over the last few weeks!

Karen, Congrats on the 4 lbs! I can't believe someone took your card. If they wanted to know what you were doing you could have told them if you wanted to. That's really low!!!!!!
I'm a carb addict too! That's my biggest down fall. The program helps me a lot but it's just getting back on it! Now I feel more energized and not quite so bad as I have, so I'm ready.

Marcie, Hang in there my friend. You're doing great! Don't worry about the .5 lb, it'll come off this next week.

Sharon, Tell your mom HI from Tennessee! Hope you all are doing well on the program.

Have a great weekend! Glad to be back!

Hi all,
i am not on LA. I was on it about 2 years ago. Unfortunately I did not suceed at it whether it was too rigid or I wasn't following it to a tee, I knew I could have done better. Anyway, I just want to say that everytime I log onto 3 fat chicks I tend to go to your posts. I love how you all support each other. You even confess when you eat too much or you're not feling well. I love reading how you check in with each other. I think it is so helpful when you have support. I sometimes wish I was on the program so I can chat with you all!
So, I finally got the nerve to write! I understand your struggles and it is nice to know that there is a very supportive group out there!! :D Thanks for listening!!

Just a quick note.
I have been so lucky to be able to lose while I am on vacation.
Sure helps since Mom joined the other day.
She lost 4 3/4 with Jet start. I have lost 5 1/4 pounds since I have been here a week.
We weigh in tomorrow and I have been very busy cleaning carpets for my Mom, so maybe the exercise will help me too.
Mom was so excited to lose on the Jet Start. Hope I can keep her enthused when I go back home to Tennessee.
Fran,
Glad you joined in. I love this message board. Yes , everyone is so supportive.
Good luck to everyone.

Welcome to our post, Fran! As you can see, we don't always discuss the LAWL program, it's just something that we have in common. We have the same struggles and obstacles that everyone else does on any program! You are more than welcome to hang with us if you want.

Sharon,
Congrats on the >5 lbs you've lost. Congrats to your mom too!
It really helps when you have someone to do the program with!
I bought me an indoor grill similar to the George Foreman one but it's a Black and Decker. Does the same thing but about 10.00 cheaper than the same size GF grill. Last night I had my usual Friday night Pizza, but back on track today. Gonna drink lots of water today! I've gotten out of that habit so it's like I'm starting over! I can do it though! Gotta rearrange my thought processes.

After Barb's post I need to check my plan again! I'm wondering if there were some things I didn't pick up on!

Have a great weekend all!

hi gals,

I know it's been a while since I have posted on here but i really haven't felt like posting. My diet is going pretty good. I haven't lost anything in a while but I have gained 3 lbs I know it's only water. I haven't been totally o p. I have only gone in and weighed in once this week. My hubby lost his job on tuesday so we are both out looking for work. Got the cobra insurance yesterday and that sent my depresson spyrolling out of control. The funny thing is that I am not eating any different. Although I did have a shrimp ceaser salad yesterday at applebees and had steak for dinner lastnight. I know that I am not suppose to have it though but i don't normally have it all the time.

We are suppose to workout today and I don't even feel like doing that. I feel like going back to bed and sleeping the rest of the day :)

Well I had better figure out what I want to do

Karen M.
Hang in there my friend! You have a lot facing you right now and it's understandable that it will send your depression spiraling. It's OK, just don't let it get out of hand. I've been thru the same thing lately and am just now beginning to come out of it. My advice to you is to keep in touch with your center. Don't beat up on yourself. That will only make things worse. Everybody handles stress differently. It's a good thing you're working out. That will help. You didn't do too bad at Appleby's. As I've gone thru my physical and emotional stuff, I kept going to the center 3x/wk. I'd sometimes call if I wasn't going to be there. They were really understanding and supportive. That's what I needed at the time.
I didn't need anyone telling what I was doing wrong. I gained almost 5lbs but I'm slowly but surely getting it off. Hang in there,
Karen.

Good morning everyone!

Janie, welcome back and congrats on only 3/4 a pound while in vacation!!! That will come off quick!

Sharon, Congrats to you on you 5 pound weight loss. You are doing so awesome! I know it helps having your mom do the program with you. Congrats to her as well!

Fran, welcome to the board! Write us any time you like! This group is very supportive!

Karen M, I am glad to hear from you! I am sorry about your husbands job! Hang in there, things will get better. Don't get down on yourself about the steak. You can have that, and like you said, you don't do it very often. I hope you go and work out, that will make you feel better! You'll lose that 3 pounds...we know you can do it!

Well today we are just hanging around the house. Not much going on. Tomorrow we have a Birthday Party to go to. It will be truly a challenge, but I know I can get through it! Hope you all have a great day!!

hi all,
Well you all sounded so nice that I decided to join you all. Just a little info on me. I lost 43 pounds with WW but the first 10 was with LAWL. I am currently working for WW and trying to support others. I was heavy as a child and heavy for my wedding:(. it was not until I received the Honeymoon pictures back that I decided to seriously do something about it my weight. I am now in the process of learning to live as a thin person. it is a constant struggle but I rather deal with it instead of gain the weight back which is what I've done 3x!!

Anyway, I will be going away for 2 weeks tomorrow. I will talk to you then!!

Hi Dee,
Good for you for getting back on track.
How easy it is for us to gain, but takes a lot of willpower to get back on track.
I hope I feel this excited about losing at the Holidays (Thanksgiving and Christmas). If I can make it through that I can make it through anything. One Christmas season I did lose 10 pounds but that was about it.
I think I was on Phen/Fen. Then the bad news on the tv and newspapers with that I got off of the pills and said I would never take a pill to lose again.
Going to Denny's Restaurant tomorrow and getting the grilled Chicken salad with Fat Free Honey Mustard Dressing. To die for.
I had it last Sunday. The only Dennys by my home in Tennessee is by Opryland and that is an hour away.
We are taking my Grandmother and Great Aunt out to dinner tomorrow and that is where they like to eat.
Have to go for now and eat my lalite.

Hi everyone! Well I had a terrible day today. I had friends over last night to grill out and I was doing so good. I had grilled chicken when they had burgers. BUT we ended up drinking a lot of beer last night and boy am I paying for it today. I haven't really drank in a while and today has just been awful. I have eaten off plan, just about anything to make me feel better. I am so disapointed in myself but I won't get down. I'll be back on plan tomorrow.
Fran, I completely know how you feel about being heavy for your wedding. I weighed the most I have ever weighed at my wedding 3 months ago. My husbands brother then got married a month after us and I was in the wedding and when I saw the pictures I cried. I started LAWL the monday after the wedding. I would have given anything if I had found LA WL before my wedding. Congrats to you on your weight loss! Glad you are with us!

Dee, congrats on your loss. Keep up the good work!

Hope everyone had a good weekend!

Marcie, Don't beat yourself up for it. It is good to go off the program every once and a while because that way you know why you want to be on it. For me I feel so much better on it then when I am off.

Lastnight we went down to Nebcity to visit some friends and we had brought some salad and chicken breasts with us to grill out and they hab bratwarst (my very favorite) and I was so proud of myself that I didn't have any of it. But,......I did have some of the baked beans though. They were tasty. They also had some fresh fruit that was wonderful too. So all and all I don't think that I did all that bad.

Well Have to send out some resumes

Thanks Karen! I appreciate the encouragment. Congrats to you on your evening last night. It feels so good when you don't give in to your favorites! Well hopefully I can get out of the sodium I took in yesterday before my weigh in tomorrow.

Have a great day!!

I was referred here by Marcie....thanks, Marcie!
I had asked her from another site about LAWL. I have already been to my initial consultation and am still debating on whether to join or not. I WANT to, but I'm scared. Until recently I've had problems just paying the bills I have, much less a new one considering the lites you have to buy. (I tasted a chocolate one and loved it!) Although, I was recently promoted and make a little extra now.
Funny how I even think about all the people that will say - "Here she goes again! This won't last." And what if it doesn't????
I am also worried about my husband who is SKINNY and wants country food every night. He doesn't get it every night - but he wants it! So, I'm worried about how we will work that out.
I also wanted to ask if a person has trouble on low carb diets would this be a mistake? I've tried it twice before and lost my cool, but maybe the counselors would come in handy there. I don't know.
I know this message sounds like I am a complete WIMP, but I promise I don't show that side to the whole world - but I figured I'd get most of my fears out with all of you right away!
FYI: My goal is 51 pounds. That would still be overweight - but I'd feel alot better. I am 4'11" and 186lbs. I have also been called "Roseanne" more than I care to admit...Ongoing fight with the hubby and others who THINK of it as a compliment. Yeah, right!

Anyway - congrats to everyone on the weight they have already lost and good luck for your next weigh ins!

Sherri,

Hey there! Welcome! I will be honest with you...I have tried many low carb diets and failed. This program has been the best thing for me. I too had to lose 51 pounds and now I am at 41 pounds. I live in Alabama, not far from you. I am from Nashville and I understand the country cooking thing. My husband is skinny and can eat anything. I cooked him tacos tonight and had a chicken salad with grilled chicken. It takes time...but in the end you feel so much better. I hope you give it a chance...and if not...that is okay too. Keep in touch and good luck!!

Glad you decided to check out our group.
Marice steared you in the right direction. This is a wonderful group to talk to.
I love the program and I have now lost 40 1/2 pounds in 13 weeks.
I am on vacation in Michigan now at my Moms and going to her laweightloss while I am here. Don't want to have to relose what I have already lost. You can go to any laweightloss when you travel, but they have to fax your records there and then you can get your bars there too.
I live in Chapel Hill, TN and go to the Columbia LAweightloss center. I live not to far from you.
Good luck on your decision. Dont want to talk you into anything you don't want to do, but you should know when you are ready. I will be 50 in 3 years and I want to have all of my overweight gone and also an 8 years old and 13 year old. I don't want to drag behind then anymore. I want to keep up with them.
Good Luck,

Hey everyone!

Went and weighed in and stayed the same. I guess I shouldn't be too upset b/c of the weekend I had. I really need to lose at least 2 pounds to stay on track. I must be really strict this entire week!

Hope everyone is doing well!

Sherri honey, If someone called me Rosanne I would be crushed for one and another if my husband said to take that as a compliment I would have divorced him  I think that would made me get off my butt and start walking and eating better. I would NEVER want to be put down like that. Sorry if I sound harsh but you need someone that is going to support you not tare you down.

As far as the lawl diet, I LOVE IT!! I have lost 47 lbs and 20 inches in 11 months. I can't believe how good I feel. When I first was thinking about doing the diet I almost didn't because I was afraid that I wasn't going to have enough to eat (dumb thought huh??) That's how I did all the diets that I was on. I ended up getting my galbladder out and then I ended up with severe heartburn and gas pains and that's when I decided that I didn't want the diet that I was on (high fat and high carbos). The thing that scared me the most is the no bread that I couldn't have for the first 3 days. I thought I was going to die the first day. Hubby and I went to a movie and the smell of popcorn made me so hungry that I almost weakened. But I made it through and I am so glad I did. And YES it does work. I wish that I had a scanner so I could put my pics out here on the web to show people.

So Keep that in mind. Set yourself a goal and a vision of yourself and go with it. I have never been heavy until the last 10 years and I don't think I want to be back there again.

I am getting ready to go out of town for the weekend. This always makes me nervous b/c I am so scared I am gonna gain. I know what to do though and I know how to eat so really it is up to me. Marci, that's great!! I weighed myself this morning and I was down to 159.5. I was there once about a month ago. I thought I had lost weight today and sure enough I had. I also went and worked out and then went to lawl and I had gained ther but that was after I drank a bunch of water.

Tonight is our 5 year annv so we are going out for dinner. I am looking forward to that. Then tomorrow is the wedding that I have been dreading for months b/c of the in-laws. I know this is going to sound funny but I am a little excited to see them to show them the accomplishment that I have made but I am afriad that they either won't notice or they will say "I hope you can keep it off!" I hate that. It's almost like a slap in the face ya know. Oh well I guess I will survive. I am just glad I am out of the 160's I have no idea on what they are having for dinner at. I hope it's something good.:) I know that i will gain some weight this weekend.

Well Have a good one.

Can someone please tell me what my eating plan would be on this diet...I weigh 172. I would love to join LA Weight Loss but seriously cannot afford it. There is a women at work selling the bars and I could buy those and get my support thru this site. I'm just desperate and this seems to be working for everyone. I am currently trying WW but I'm so hungry (too many carbs I think...I even gave myself 2 extra points a day but I'm still starving).

Thanks so much!

I'm Losing it,

For me I was on the purple plan when I first started. I could have 2 proteins, 4 veggies (they make you weigh out your veggeis for some reason) 2 startches, 3 fruits and 4 oz of milk, oh and the 2 bars. With the gold plan that I am on now I was getting very hungry on so I have taken it upon myself and added an extra protein and startch and I am fine. I have also started to add lean pockets into my diet and they are pretty much the same as the healthy choice pizza's. Also drinking lots of water has helped me out too, as well as exersise. And the thing is that I am still losing weight and feeling good. But I don't know what the lowest plan they have and your right it is VERY pricy.

Well I survived my anniversary. We went to a little Itilian restaurant called Vivace and I had WAY over did it with fettichini (sp) alfraido with shrimp (jumbo) and scallops and then had a tata musau (sp) cake for desert. It was so good but now I could puke b/c I ate to much. After dinner we went and walked around the old market. They have carriage rides that people can go on and little shops and ice cream parlors. It's kind of nice but they have a lot of scary people down there just sitting around.

Well I think I will close for now

Thanks for replying to my questions. Wow that doesn't sound like much food...can you have salad dressing or any extras? I am going to Disney World in 11 weeks and the thought of looking like this is depressing. I have tried everything and can't seem to stay motivated. I wish I had $$$ to join but seriously we can barely afford our mortgage with a baby in day care costing us $650 a month it's killing us!!! Oh well maybe I will win the lottery.:(

Welcome to the forum, I'm losing it! Yes you can have 1tbsp light salad dressing (no fat free because of the extra sodium). You can count this as your fat for the day. You can also have 1tbsp of light margerine/day. But 1 fat is your limit. Good luck! I didn't think I could afford it either. We are so broke that we can't pay attention! But it has been worth it even though I've been struggling with the same the same 2-3 lbs for the last couple of months. I feel so much better when I'm on the plan. I've lost 20# and I'm still chugging away, hoping that it'll come off eventually. I've got another 60 to go.

HEY ALL YOU LOSERS OUT THERE! I say that in a complimentary manner! I'm having trouble keeping everything straight. I'm trying to get back on program, and I'm doing OK with the food and my LA lites, but I can't keep up with all the vitamins, FBA 250, EFA pills, and the Calcium. Does anyone have a routine for keeping up with this stuff when you have a hectic family lifestyle? I'm struggleing enough with the plan because I fail to plan and I know what that means, but it's really difficult with kids, job, and all the stuff that life hands out. Does anyone have any words of wisdom?

I'm happy to see that everyone is losing! I go today. i'm not expecting much today. I lost 1 lb this week (that was after taking my huge pants off in the weight room). Last night I took my daughter and her friend to a pool party which I drove around for almost an hour trying to find. Then my 2 y/o and I went to the mall and walked around then we stopped in the food court for dinner. He ate Mcdonalds. I had a piece of pizza and a salad. I also had a regular Coke yesterday. It was truley Friday the 13th for me! I was severely stressed so what did I do? I retreated back into my old habits! I've got to get really strict with the program because I'm going to be buying renewal weeks if I'm not careful. i've got till November, but it'll be here before you know it.

Sorry to be so long winded but I just had to cleanse my soul before I went to weigh. I'll let you know how it goes!

good job janiepooh, I gained 3 lbs becasue of our anniversary lastnight. I am also feeling a little bit swollen today. I think I must be holding fluids.

I'm losing it, when you wright down all the food that you are eating no it doesn't look like much but it is. I thought that when I first got on the diet too. In fact sometimes I have a hard time eating what I am suppose to be eating. But on a typical day I have for breakfast 2 eggs, toast 4 oz of milk and depending on how hungry I am I will have 3 slices of cantaloupe, for lunch I have a healthy choice pizza and a salad with dressing for dinner I have another salad and for the mid morning and mid afternoon snacks I have my protein bars.

I can understand the money issue. It is very $$ and I know how costly daycare is, I use to work at one. But I must say that it does work.

Good luck and keep us poasted.

Thanks Karen M.! If you're holding fluid drink about 4 oz water with 4 tbsp lemon juice (use a real lemon if you have any). Drink it HOT! It works really well for me. In fact it really helps when I do it the day before I weigh in. It at least gets rid of the excess fluid and if you do have a gain, you know it's not fluid.

I'm losing it, Look at the portion sizes of the food you record. Weighing and measuring helped me to realize I was getting lots more food than I realized. Somedays, it's hard for me to get it all in, but you do better if you can get it all in.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend! The weather is beautiful here in TN! Keep up the good work everyone!

Hi Janie,
Do you buy all of those vitamins?
Are they not expensive?
I tried the Celluway and I do not know if they make a difference or not. When I went to the Michigan center last week they told me after 2 months of Celluway that you take one pill a day and the bottle will last two months.
I have not yet been to my center. I will go tomorrow. Just flew in today and have lost 7 3/4 pounds in Michigan in two weeks.
Hope the scales are the same or weigh less.
I have done well without all of their supplements and I do not plan on getting any . I have lost 41 1/4 total in 14 weeks without supplements. They told me average 3 pounds a weeks and that is just about right.
Hope everyone is well. Glad to be back.

Sharon,
Welcome home! How is your mom? Is she hanging with the program? Sounds like you had a great time and stayed OP.
That's awesome! Yes I do all of the vitamins (or try to) except for the Trimax and the Celluway. I've been and it just seemed simpler to get theirs. They are expensive! Even if you get them on special. I buy them seperately and compare prices though. If I find something comparable and cheaper then I get it. I believe the GNC stores have just about all of the same things.

deedee,
I had a bad weekend too! If I stay the same then I'll be happy! We went to the two worst places in the world for me; Steak and Shake and Cracker Barrel. At Cracker Barrel, I really didn't do too bad. Since I didn't get the Chocolate Cobbler, I figure I did good!
I'm heading into PMS week which is always a problem, but I'm going to try and stay focused this week on getting under 225.
I'm at 224 3/4. That's not a big amount but at this point I'm trying to be realistic for the week.

Hope every one has a great week! Keep checking in!

Hey everyone!
Well I just got back into town and boy was it a rough weekend. I ate really bad on Sat. I had buffalo chicken fingers, but I only ate 2 of them. They didn't even taste good, then I had a peice of pizza at dinner. I only had 1 peice of fruit, no veggies, and too much fat!! Then I got food poisning from the pizza and was sick all day yesterday and was eating crackers and drinking sprite just trying to feel better. I feel much better today and had Subway for lunch. I am getting ready to eat some fruit. Boy it is amazing how badly I feel when I am not on plan!

Karen M, you are doing a great job!! Don't get down about your anniv!!

Welcome Sherri and good luck on your Jet Start.
I am so excited for you. I love this program.
I am home now and had to go shopping this morning to make sure there were things I could eat.
I am going to get the family on more healthful eating too.
I can see my daughter is having a problem with being able to stop eating.
I am homeschooling her this year, so I want to put this in our program as far as eating healthy, not a diet.

Okay, I finally made an appointment with LAWL...I go tonight at 5:00, however, as I stated before $$$ is very tight. They told me I wouldn't have to pay much up front...not even $100 but wouldn't give me an exact amount. I have the feeling I'll be paying more than they're letting me know...she said it's less than $7 a week but not a pay-by-week program. I have to do this behind my husband's back because he doesn't think I can stick to anything (yes, he's very supportive :( ) I'll let you know what I think.

Sharon44
07-17-2001, 03:15 PM
I don't understand why they told you it would not cost much.
Depending on how many weeks it is times $7.The bars are $14 a box and you need two boxes a week.
They are cheaper if you buy bulk.
I am not trying to bust your bubble, but they should not make promises they cannot keep.
Do you have alot to lose? My total lose is 130 to 145 pounds. I paid $6 a week. Must be the areas that are different. My Mom paid $6 a week too and she lives in Michigan.
I hope you can do this . It works if you let it work.

I actually have 50 pounds to lose...I'm about 175 now and would love to get to 125 (I'm 5'3" and small boned underneath all this:) ). I am just desperate to get rid of this weight and I feel this program would work for me...my husband is working 2 jobs and I'm working 1 just to keep a roof over our heads...I cannot justify spending this money right now to him so I will do what any good wife would...I will hide it (ha ha). He'll forgive me when I'm back in a bikini.

Losing It, congrats on taking the first step to losing weight! I told them that I could not pay it all up front either and they put me on a payment plan. They had me pay as much as I could up front and then I paid every two weeks until i had it paid off. Here is a little tip, if you get the jello instead of the bars it lasts longer. One packet of jello lasts me 2 days instead of one. There are 4 servings per packet. You have to have 2 a day so it lasts a little longer. I just buy 1 box a week. They didn't even realize it and when I told them, my old counselor said maybe you should be eating 4 servings a day and I was like no way b/c of the calories. Anyway I hope that helps! I know how hard it is to justify spending the money. In my case my husband is super skinny and can eat anything. Luckily he is very supportive and is okay with me spending the money. He knows that I will not be happy until I lose this dreaded weight! I do know that every center is different, so maybe they will work out a payment plan with you. Good Luck and let us know how it goes!!

Sherri, I am so excited for you! You will do great! When I was on Jet Start I ate a lot of Rotisserie Chicken from the deli of the Grocery Store! It is yummy! They say to get the plain though b/c of the sodium. Not the lemon pepper or others! I can't wait to see the results!

Sharon, I am sorry that your center said you had gained! BUT I am proud of you for not getting down! You know that you have done so awesome!!
Hope everyone has a great day!

Hi Guys
Sorry--it has been a long time since I have written. I have been reading the posts and I am so happy for everyone!! I have been doing horribly!!!!!!!!! I don't know what it is--or what is going to make me get back on track. I know that that is the key. I had a long talk with my manager today, and I looked over my chart---it has been 4 months since I have lost anything---I have been playing with the same few pounds. I pledge now, that I am going to write everything down--I KNOW that is the key!!!!
Will let you know at the end of the week how I did.
Take Care

Margaret,
I'm having the same problem. I'm playing with the same couple of pounds and have been since the beginning of May. I'm taking it one step at a time and trying to stay OP, but it's so hard when you've taken a sideroad! I need to write my stuff down too. I believe the keys to the whole program is to journal your food, eat your bars (supplements), and drink lots of water. It all works together to keep you on track! I'm having a hard time too and had the same conversation with my counselor today too about using the diary. I'm going to carry mine in my purse and try to remember it. I'm always in my purse so I'm going to try to remember. If anyone has anyother ideas, please share!

Hang in there Margaret,

07-17-2001, 09:01 PM
Hi, I just got back from my first appointment (consultation) and as I thought it was not cheap...they assured me over the phone that it would not be close to $100 today...so I wasted 1 1/2 hours going there...anyway it was $7 a week up front $350 plus $50 for bloodwork and the cost of the bars...I had about $50 to spend tonight and they told me sorry but I couldn't start unless I gave them $169 today...it looked like a great program and a lot of support but you can't get water from a rock or money from an empty bank account. I'm really disappoined but what can I do?????

Sorry you were disappointed.
It cost me about $325 for losing 130 pounds in 43 weeks. Did you say that you have to lose 50 pounds .
I don't understand why yours was so much.
Hope you can find a way.

I actually measured 51 pounds to lose...they told me 26 weeks for that at 2 pounds per week, 6 weeks of stabilization and 20 weeks of maintenance to equal a full year. I think they want to get as much money up front as possible because of the high number of people who fail on diets...that's probably their strategy. The lady was really nice but not willing to work with me financially...I could have given another $100 next week but she let me leave without joining which I was surprised about.

Losing it, I am really sorry about your visit to LA WL! I wish that they had worked with you. I bet if you called the manager she would try and work out a payment plan with you. I can understand though why you might be put out with them and just say forget it. I had 51 pounds to lose and it cost 362.00. I paid 150.00 the first day and then 2 weeks later I just put the rest on a credit card. I didn't have the cash and they kept saying just put it on a credit card so i did to get them off of my back! Anyway i am sorry it did not work out for you. Maybe you can save for a couple of weeks and then go back.
Dee, don't worry about the gain! Congrats on the inches lost!

Margaret, welcome back!! You can do this!! It is so hard when we get off track, but just know that you can get back on it!

Janie, I keep mine in my purse as well...that way I won't forget it. Although I am really bad about not writing down everything that I have eaten especially if I get off plan. I know that this is just hurting myself.
Talk to y'all later!!!

Hi All,
I wanted to know if anyone has tryed the Express days?
You subtract 1 veg, 2 bread, 2 fruit and add one lalite bar.
You do this 2 days a week, and it is suppose to make you lose faster.
I just found out about it yesterday.
I will let you know how it works. Today is day one.
Oh I forgot you also add a protein on the list they give you that has different proteins that is not on the regular protein plan.

Yesterday my Mom got a new eating out exchange list. I have to ask if they got them in my center and you may want to ask at your centers if you have not got any yet.

Hey everyone!

Well just as I had thought, my eating off the plan caught up with me. I weighed in today and was up 1 pound. I am not surprised, just disapointed in myself. I had worked so hard to lose and now back up I go. This is just a minor set back though, I am back on track today and raring to go. They did tell me that I was 4 pounds behind where I should be. I should have lost 14 pounds by now, so I have some catching up to do really quick! I don't want to have to pay more money in the long run. They have my goal weight at 145, which I would love to get there, but I am not sure how realistic that is for me. My body is so weird. I have a lot of muscle and I have always weighed heavy. I weighed 135 pounds and wore a size 4/6 and I am 5'6. I was very unhealthy at that weight and had a severe eating disorder. This was obviously 5 years ago. Maybe I am just lieing to myself. Maybe I have just been making excuses for so long that I don't really know the truth anymore. I would love to be 145 pounds and I will keep going till I get there. I know I can do it. Anyway, sorry to ramble, but I feel so much better now!!

Hope everyone is having a good week!

Hi
Got through my first Express day.
Not bad if you chart it out to know what you are going to eat the whole day.
Weighed in this morning and lost 4 1/4 pounds for a total of 43 3/4 pounds in 15 weeks.
I am so excited. Maybe I will do express days 2 times a week.
You get an extra bar in place of some of the things that are taken away
Janie,
I know it feels good to be back on track. Good Luck.
Karen M,
You can get it back off. I know at my center they tell us not to eat the frozen meals because of the salt. I have had only one frozen pizza meal since I started and when I had it I gain 1/2 pound the next day, even thought I was on program.
They also tell us at my center not to eat beef unless absolutely necessary. So I stick to poultry, veggie burgers and veggie hot dogs and fish.
Karen W,
Good luck on your loss. HOpe you have a good time on your vacation.
DeeDee,
All will come off in time. This program is great. It really works if you work it.
Just stay positive.

HI! I just signed up at LA Weight Loss yesterday, and I start Jet Start tommorow. I'm drinking as many Pepsi's as I can today, because for me I know that will be the hardest thing to give up. I'm SOOOOO happy to have found this board!! You guys are so supportive of one another. :) I have to tell you, I'm scared, and excited. I don't know if I can do this...it's my first foray into a weight loss progam.....am I destined to fail? Yesterday at my consultation I weighed in at 232 1-2.......I put 180 as my goal, but I would like to lose more then that.......I'm just afraid to reach to high, does that make sense? :s: My husband tells me not to be so negative, that he knows I can do it, and I will do it. It's great to have a supportive spouse, but now I'm afraid of letting him down. He tells me that doing something about my weight for ME (I've tried before, but for the wrong reasons) tells him that I'm heading in the right direction. With my last baby I had a horrible bout of Post Partum Depression and I still have my "blue" days, but I feel like I'm coming out of that fog. (stopped taking my meds two months ago, and doing MUCH better)And I feel like I'm ready to make a serious change. I LOVE my carbs, so I know that this is going to be difficult, but I think it's time to make a change in my eating habits. I was the picky kid whose mom NEVER made them eat what they didn't like, and now I'm a picky adult. I love that this board exists, and i look forward to getting to know you all!

Hi Sue!
Welcome! Congrats on taking your first step to losing weight! I had tried everything trying to lose and I am just so thankful that I found LA WL! This program is wonderful! I have only lost 10 pounds but that is already a huge accomplishment for me. All of the people here have been successful with LA WL. You can do it, I am not saying that it won't be hard at times, but so far it has been fairly easy to change my eating habits. I am a lot like you and am very picky. The only veggies I really eat is lettuce, green beans and carrots. I eat pretty much the same thing every day! Your husband is right, you must do this for yourself! You can do it and you will! Again welcome and good luck!

Hi to all!! My name is Chrissy and I just joined LAWL today. I am so nervous about this. I think I've tried every diet known to man thus far. I have ALOT of weight to lose. A WHOPPING 150 pounds!! I hate to even think about it. The one counselor that's going to be helping me, I met her today, has lost 120 so I know it's possible and I see the success that you gals are having and truely I have been inspired to join!!

My latest attempt at weight loss was the Atkins diet. I was successful but I get carried away and got back into eating the carbs and of course gained all of my weight back. It was all my fault because I went off the plan. I had the hardest time staying away from carbs and not all of them where what I would call "bad carbs" some of my favorite foods are fruit especially this time of year and I hate missing out on something that's good for me. I've tried WW too. I liked it but I think it gave me a little too much freedom and if I had a bad week then I would'nt go into get weighed and that would just snow ball on me and before I knew it I wouldnt be a current member and would have to go and "re-join". I could tell you more of my weight loss journey but I dont think I have enough time........plus it get ugly:p

I start Monday and I'll let you guys know how I do then. Looking forward to getting to know all of you. Best wishes :smug: :

Welcome Chrissy!!

You can do it!! Just take it one day at a time! I too did the Atkins diet last and just couldn't stick with it. I truly believe that LA WL is a plan I can do for life! You have to believe that. With Atkins I knew deep down that I could never live the rest of my life like that. This is it for me, when I lose my weight I don't ever ever want to go back. I made a promise to myself that this is it. Good luck to you and let us know how you are doing!
