Thought since I haven't been here in a while the least I could do was start a new thread. Usually Maria does it at the same time I do.
Karen love the name Sprout. It sounds so cute. I guess I didn't realize that you had to boil water. I guess I should have. That would be getting old. Never thought but did you have to boil to wash dishes in also?
Ann been thinking and praying for you. I hate the unknown and I was awake a lot at night too before my surgery. It is hard to turn you mind off. I just would rather get it all over with. How is your dh doing? So sorry to read about your little dog. The hardest thing to me was putting ours to sleep. Now this one is almost 12 but so far he is in pretty good shape. My one son makes him run and walk a lot. Way more than me.
Maria my son and dil are going to find out the sex of the baby in December. I think they are hoping for a boy but I don't care as long as it is healthy although a little princess would be nice. There are too many boys around here. I don't know how you deal with all the upheaval and uncertainty you all have job wise. I would be more than happy to ship some leaves to you. They are from huge oak trees and the leaves are about 10 inches long. You no sooner get some raked and mulched and they are back. Plus my neighbors blow into my yard and stop at my fence. Sure wish you were allowed to burn them.
Glenda how wonderful for Cody to find his way. You sound so happy and I am happy for you. You always want the best for your kids.
Trudy and Slavika you all can keep your snow. It is way too early for that. Right now it is freezing here and rainy. The days are getting shorter and I hate it.
Trudy your little  sounds like she is getting big. Sorry she has been having a tough time teething.
Well cross your fingers. :crossed: We have a decent offer on the other house and we countered. Hope it all works out. Having 2 houses is getting real old. I will have to find the link on the net for it so you can see it. It needs work-just need the right person to want it.
I just got a recipe from someone in my painting group for a chocolate martini that sounds decadent. Of course it has no calories., One of these day I am going to have to try it.
What does Lily mean by waving bye bye?
Got to run,
This is the one we are selling. http://www.sibcycline.com/viewlisting.asp?mls=901904&b=CIN&p=RESI&s=SFRD&m=1 Really glad that we aren't moving there since it has over an acre of ground. The room where the table is was once a garage that dh's uncle remodeled. Like that room. Dh is just going to have to rent some place for all his construcion stuff or else downsize some of it. No room for it - our original house.

Hi everyone: We just got back from the Octoberfest dinner with entertainment, down at the clubhouse. It was just a fun evening.
Peggy: that is a nice looking house, but you would sure haave lots of leaves to rake if you were to move there.
It seems that I wake up about 4a.m. and just can't get back to sleep. Very frustrating, to say the least. And of course I can't turn off the brain. I have found tho' that just praying for everyone i know helps me be more relaxed.
I'm taking everyones' advice and keeping busy. no time to do a lot of thinking.
Hope everyone is having a good weekend. 'See' you later. Ann

It's a lazy sunny day here. it strated out cool this morning needed a light jacket for church. But it has warmed up vary nicely. Maybe a good day for the pool?
My son told me that it was quite cold in Minnesota just like where Trudy and Slavika are. BRRRRR.
Puppy is keeping us very, very, very busy. For 2.7 pounds he can be a hand full. But is so fun to see play.
Not much else to write now Catch you later!

Hi Everybody
Maria did you go someplace and I missed that? I don't think you have posted for a couple of days...maybe your computer is down. :(
Peggy that's a very nice looking house and a fairly large place too. I guess with that much yard...and grass to cut etc. it could get to be too much work. Is it sold now? :?:
Ann that is so great that you don't have a long wait......the waiting is the hardest. You sure have the support and the prayers of all us gals on the board. :) That waking up in the night must be something we all share. I sure seem to get up a lot at night. Sometimes, I can fall right back to sleep but other times that just isn't going to happen. GRRRR....then I am dragging myself around all the next day. :( :dizzy:
Karen I hope that you will be able to send us a picture of SPROUT. Maybe it would be easier to do it with email. I just love  holding a new little puppy close to my face they smell so nice. When I hold puppies at the pet store I do that. So you and Ann both are in parks that allow you to have dogs, I think that is just great. :) They really do bring so much love and joy to our lives.
My poor Trudy is sick with a bad cold. First her DH got it and then he just felt he had to share with her. ;) I haven't talked to her today but I hope she is feeling a little better.
I have been eating like there is going to be some big shortage of food in my country. I stepped on the scale this morning and I think I am up 3#. Yesterday we went a 50th Anniversary Tea Party and they had those little fancy sandwiches....well I must of had 6 of them, and several little cubes of cheese. YIKES.. (that red guy with horns made me do it) :D
Hi Glenda I hope you are enjoying your weekend. :)
Supper tonight will be a bowl of "sort of homemade" chicken soup and a big dinner roll. :ink: :ink:
I was hoping to see Lily on the board. Maybe she will pop by later this evening. Talk to you all soon.

G'day all,
Slavika you are going to have the best time in Hawaii with your family. I think it is fantastic and something your grandchildren will remember for many years to come.
Sorry to hear Trudy is not well. :(
Peggy Great you were able to share pictures of your house. It looks nice, are the vents in the bedrooms your central heating?
Your 'yard' looks great but I guess a lot to maintain. Hope it all went well with the sale.
Are you going to find out the sex of your new grandchild or are they keeping it a secret?
I am glad they are telling me, I HATE secrets
Ann You are often in my thoughts during this difficult time, I am sure all will be well but the quicker you can have done what needs to be done, the better. Waiting around is just the pits.
KAren sounds like you are well and truly settled and not missing the cold from Minnesota. I bet little Sprout is a handful but he would be just so cute
Well I have some good news and some bad news........
I gained this week .6 :( :( The last few weeks I have been really bad with indigestion, I thought it was the antibiotics I was taking for yet another urinary infection :(
When the indigestion is so bad and I feel nauseous, I just need to eat things like dry toast, crackers etc. and obviously ate far too much of that. I normally would eat fruit but the acid in the fruit made me feel worse.
I went back to the doctors last week and she thinks it is my stomach ulcer playing up and has given me some other medication. I feel much better but in the meantime I did gain.
I am off to Sydney on Thursday and will be there just till Monday.
The good news is that dh has booked Cirque de Soleil, Quidam for Saturdaynight. Not sure if the show eventually will get to Adelaide.
I have heard such wonderful reports, I have never heard of one person not being totally enthralled by the performance.
Dh will come home the following weekend and he will have 3 weeks holidays after that......who knows....looks like Sydney for 3, 6 maybe 12 months :(
Yesterday I spent the day putting together a website for the company my son-in-law works for.
I have uploaded it to their free website for his bosses to have a look before uploading it to their server.
It is a bit boring but you may like to have a look at my handy work ;)
http://www.users.bigpond.com/joenlexie/
I love the truck! I did the logo on the top of the page and then my s-i-l asked if I could put it on a truck. Found a picture of a truck, removed the name that was there and replaced it with the company logo!!!
Gotta go and some 'stuff' done...
Cheers

Im here Slavika: Just been really bad lately.
I was called to go to work Sunday moring at 1:00 AM I was there until 3:00 AM Didnt get anything I was suppose to do accomplished. I had to ship something on a Plane. Well The airports shut down at night now. Came home tried to sleep and didnt.
Had to be At WW same time I had to call again to get something on a plane. I was a nervous wreck.
I brought home the card I was to ship. Told Hubby Im calling all these people and I dont know what will happen. He is a Hero. I did call and he did take over like a Hero. Card got to where it was suppose to and all was well. Cell phone bill will go the the roof this month
Im really thinking of quiting WW as far as working for them. Its getting to hard. I get called to Sub all the time and its killing me, when I have to go thru above. My real job is more important than subbing for someone.
I make very little with WW. Not worth it to me. I want to be a Member again. To Many obligations and WW should not be one of them, at least to not make my life unbearable.
Humm just said it all. Im quitting tomorrow

Nice to see you Lily but boy you need a talking to!
Life is too short to be running yourself ragged doing everything you are doing!
I would definitly be calling it a day with WW and I hope you have gone ahead and have called it quites with WW.
It is all very well to be needed but you do need to put yourself and your dh first. No-one is going to thank you for 'killing yourself' doing what you think you should be doing.....believe me I speak from experience :(
That is enough now!
See what happens when you are the youngest here ;) :D
Just take care of yourself,
Cheers

Hi all:
Lily: Nice to Hear from you, and I agree with everyone about first things first, and that running yourself ragged is not a good thing for you or for your DH. So just listen to your 'elders'.
going off to have a nice relaxing massage now. That should help a bit. I really feel so good, that it is hard to believe that in a week I'll be hurting alot, but better off than I am now. Life sure is strange sometimes.
See you all later tonight. Ann

Lily your post was so stressed out..... good you are quitting WW. They will find someone who only wants part time work to fill your spot. You will feel a lot better without that worry on your mind. good for your DH coming to the rescue. :cp:
I have been so sick with the Flu/Cold since Friday. I wasn't feeling well when I got my Flu shot on Fri, the doctor said that it didn't matter if I was coming down with something, the Flu shot wouldn't affect it. Fri night, Sat & Sun were just the worst, couldn't hardly hold my head up... no way I could eat a thing, so nauseated. I am able to eat again, but still feel awful. I don't know what kind of flu it is, bad enough though. Everyone go get your Flu shots, it's no picnic It was on the news last night, that Can. is helping out the USA with the Flu vaccine shortage.
Slavika I miss our :cofdate:
See you later.. :crossed:

Trudy hope your feeling better quick! I dohpe the flu shot be comes available to us down here. My DH will be getting his on Friday at the VA we hpe but I don't meet the criteria. So I'm going to make sure I get the pneumonia shot. Because if I get the flu it almost always turns into pneumonia. The people next door had to get to the supermarket early like 6:00am to get in line for theirs at 10:00 am they began to give the shots. That was one long wait. There was only 200 to give and they were #31 & #32. They are 80years old so really needed the shot.
Ann glad you are feeling good. Hope it continues like that. Maybe the better you feel going in the shorter time you'll have to spend recovering.
All I am going to be sending a picture of Sprout to Maria so she can post it to the rest of you. I'm going to try one othere thing first to see if I can get it to work.
Have to go puppy is hungry.

G'day all,
This will be a very short post....I have been messing about with Sprout this morning and I now have an hour and a half to get ready to catch my flight to Sydney.
I am still sitting in my nighty and have not packed :dizzy:
Sprout is just gorgeous but I HAD to put an Adelaide flavour to him and he is sitting on grass from the Adelaide Botanical Gardens :D :D
I won't be accessing the net whilst I am away so I will 'see' you all on my return next monday.
Stay happy,
Cheers

Maria you did good! We are so lucky to have you. :high: :grouphug:
Thanks for taking the time to do this for me. :bravo: :cp: He looks so cute on the grass.
We have again had a busy couple of days. When did I find time to work?? I'm finally getting to know my way around enough to take the car and go to the store with just me , myself and I. It is amazing what a few minutes alone will do for a person. :cb: Yesterday i did have to drive home from Tampa on the freeway. That was a little hairy:fr: But i did it and now I know I can.
Talked to my Mom last night . My Dad had been to his cancer doctor and is doing great. The doctor was very pleased with how well my dad is doing and how well he handled the whole cancer, surgery thing last year.
How is everybody seems quiet around here.

Hi Everybody :)
I am just getting reading to go to bed but I wanted to come and have a quick read here first. I was so happy to see the picture of Sprout . How sweet he is. :) He looks like one of my granddaughter's stuffed little beanie baby puppy. :)
Maria that was sweet of you to post him on our board for Karen. I think we have a little mascot now.
I'll come back tomorrow. Night all.

Hi,
Lily-Run and do not walk and quit WW. You don't need all this aggravation. Life is just way too short. Now I hope you get some rest-maybe it is time for a weekend trip to one of those wineries.
Karen I want Sprout. He is sooo cute. I would be like Slavika and holding and cuddling. See you are adventuring out a little and getting to know your new home.
Maria that is the house we were going to move to but decided not too. If you are confused I know that I am. It was dh's aunt's house and we were going to fix it up and sell it a few years down the road. The setting is pretty-it is on a private drive with only 5 houses. We have a contract on it-a couple with some young boys. Perfect for them. Our house is much smaller-should have posted it when it was on the web site. Dh has all his construction equipment stored at the house for sale. He rented the space when his aunt was alive. Now he will have to get rid of some of it [yes!!!] or find some other place to rent and store it.
Trudy so sorry you have been sick with the flu. I have been down with a cold. I feel so sleepy all the time when I have a cold. I have never had a flu shot and this year doesn't sound like a possibility with the shortage of shots. Take care of yourself.
Got to get things done around here today. I had to go to a luncheon thing at my sisters hospital guild yesterday. It was their annual money raiser. It was just on the other side of town and it was a rainy nasty day. Off to clean.

Even though I am still feeling rough, I had to do some grocery shopping yesterday. I never shop in the afternoon, so I had a check out clerk I had never met before. I asked for double bags immediately, she said okay. She put some cans and boxes in a bag and then started to put my fruit in the same bag. I asked her not to do that, before I even got my sentence completed she asked me if I would like to bag my own groceries. I just hit the roof. I really felt insulted. I told her what I thought of her attitude. When we left the counter, I heard her laugh and say something to the other people in line. I didn't do anything further, just went home, but it is just bothering me. I think I should take this to the store manager. I have shopped at this store since we moved into the area in l968.
I am so sick and tired of buying $30 to $40 of fruit a week only to find it damaged by cans, or put at the bottom of heavy items. So, I make it a point to know where my fruit and veggies are going. I often ask the clerks not to put delicate things in with cans and boxes and have never had this happen before.
Please let me know what your immediate reaction to my post was.... don't worry about not agreeing with me. I have been so sick that maybe my reaction was clouded.
Karen What a cute picture of Sprout. He looks so cuddly.
Those freeways can be so scarey. Was it worse than the ones around Minneapolis?
Maria Hope you have a great weekend.
Peggy I thought your aunt's home was quite nice. The ouside is very attractive and the inside could be fixed up to be very nice. I like a home that looks like that. The price seemed very reasonable. I think it would cost a great deal more here.
Slavika Did you have a nice day with your friend yesterday. Do any shopping?
Talk to you all later... bye bye... :rain:

Trudy,
I was in shock when I read you post. My mouth dropped open in disbelief :fr: . I would have stopped to see the manager at that moment. And I think you should still talk to him/her at the earliest possible moment. The customer is almost always right. Squashed fruit is not acceptable! :nono:
Glad you think my little Sprout is cute. Today thats all he got going for him.

Hi Everybody :)
Lily hi, I agree with the other gals, you have too much on your plate right now to continue working at WW. Maybe when you "retire" from your real job you could do it again if you wanted to. :)
Karen has "our" little SPROUT been doing things that he shouldn't......hee hee  :D
Trudy I really do think you should write a letter to the manager of the store and explain what happened. If she treated you like that you can be sure she has treated others like that too.
I know that there are vans from the various apartment blocks that bring the seniors to the grocery store for their weekly shopping and it would be really sad if some of those "old dollies" were treated like you were yesterday.
Your requests were reasonable, and the girl acted badly. :( I don't know why she would even think to put fruit and canned goods together in a bag.
My grandson is here for a sleep over (no school tomorrow) and the Princess is having a couple of her girlfriends over for a sleep over and he didn't want to be there with "ALL" the silly giggling girls. hee hee......I didn't bother to tell him that will soon change. :D ;)
Bye for now.

Trudy I don't think you overreacted at all. There is no way I would want my fruit crushed. I really hate it when they put a lot of heavy stuff all in one bag also. The clerk was very rude. She owes you an appology. I would put it in writing to the store manager and the corporate offices.
Lizziepie
10-22-2004, 08:49 AM
Trudy: I agree with all the other gals. That clerk was very rude, and I think I would have gone to to the manager right then. But then on the other hand maybe not, because when I am really angry I often don't make a lot of sense in what I say, and then I get teary when I know I am not expressing myself well. So now that you have had a chance to defuse a little, you can tell the manager just what you think, clearly.
I hate it when some baggers also put your eggs in with other stuff and you get home and they are cracked.
Karen: I imagine that Sprout is keeping you busy. Do you have Puppy Pads available for him to get house broken? Of course we now have the pads around the house for our 'old' girl when she doesn't make it to let us know her need to go out. So far she has used them.
Slavika: You'll have fun with your grandson. And it is special for him to have time with you by himself. I have gottne my brain shifted around the change in plans. And now my dd has called and is glad, since then she will be here when I am in the hospital. So guess all is working out okay.
I suppose Maria is now having a nice time with DH in Sidney. I sure hope things work out for them so there isn't so much travel back and forth. But I guess she is used to it by now.
going out for a walk now. Have to keep the exercise a priority. I won't be going to Curves until my recuperation is over. They got a Dr. note, so I won't be charged during that time. Some benefits anyway. 'See' you later. Ann

We do have puppy pads for him and so far he uses them most of the time. So he is really good about that. But Holy Cow is he into everything. Books, yarn, Draging around the puppy pads. and trying to eat the furniture. We have sprayed everything with that stuff puppys aren't supposed to like. I beg to differ with the makers of that. Must find something else because Sprout just licks it off and continues to chew away! :?: The stinker. All in all he is a fun little ball of fluff. But it is like having a toddler around. Wipeing faces and butts. :dizzy:
Ann glad your daughter will be her for you when you have your surgery. Hope this back thing with you DH lets up soon. Nothing worse than being in pain all the time.
Slavika tell us about the sleep over with GS. What fun things did you two get to do together?
Went to the VA this morning to get DH hearing aid. And he had to have an MRI because his hearing loss is kind of rare. We'll know the result I think the the first Friday in November. Now he has gone fishing. Something he really never used to do. and now seems to enjoy drowning warms.
Need to vacum this place so talk to you later.

All, I haven't posted this week for a reason. Last Saturday afternoon I babysat little (?) Jackson all afternoon while his parents went to a football game--I was by myself. He is 6 months old and usually a sweetheart, but that afternoon he was miserable and had teething problems. He laughed and in the midst of a laugh started crying hard with tears. I picked him up often that afternoon and rocked and rocked and walked the floor. By that evening my back was hurting a little. By Monday I could barely sit up. I was at work Monday and at home Tuesday and Wednesday. Went to a chiropractor who helped a little, but it was lying on a heating pad for 2 days that helped the most. Anyway, I feel somewhat better, but taking medicine is not easy for me.
Lily - let me add my 2 cents. Quit WW! Never do anything for fun that turns into work.
Karen - Sprout is adorable and I just love the name. Glad you are retired--a puppy takes a little bit of time, but so worth it. Glad your dad is doing well. Is he in remission?
Trudy - You did not overreact! You need to now rationally speak to the manager and tell him exactly what she said and how she said it. That kind of attitude will run customers off very quickly and they need to nip it in the bud. I just don't take that kind of crap from salespeople at all, especially when she said something as you walked off, making you think she was making fun of you to the others. So very, very rude!
Slavika - Your grandson will soon want to be around those giggly girls. What a few years will do! Have you Canadians gotten your flu shots? Can you believe we are trying to get flu shots from your country? Leon had the flu 5 years ago and he still remembers it very badly. He doesn't quite fit in the category so he is nervous.
Have a good weekend!

Hi Everybody :)
GLENDA...sorry about your back, my DH is still having back trouble. Babies have such a rough time when they are teething, I just feel sorry for them. My Mom used to get a kind of "rough" wash cloth and wet it (wring it out) and put it in a plastic bag in the fridge. When my son would fret when he was teething she would hold the cold cloth to his mouth and he would bite down and kind of suck on it. It almost seemed like magic....he would quiet right down and relax, and fall asleep. :)
I had my flu shot over a week ago. Being diabetic I have been getting them every year for some time now. I am happy that Canada will have 2 million flu shots left over that they can share with the Americans. :)
KAREN...when my grandson was here I showed him Sprout's picture and he also thinks that both the name and your little puppy are cute. We watched a little TV together, and then I listened to his stories about school, and his friends and hockey.......I think at least 2/3 of the stories I heard that evening were true. hee hee  It's priceless, but he is ALWAYS the "hero" in every story. Love that boy of mine...... The next morning DH of course went to work but grandson and I went out for breakfast. When our food arrived, he very quietly and discreetly said a little prayer. When growing up my family never "said" grace before meals but we would make the sign of the cross at home before a meal and after, but we didn't when we were out. My dil had the little ones saying grace as soon as they could talk. I can remember countless times being in McDonalds or wherever when they were small and hearing my grandson say, "thank you Jesus for "num-a-nums". :D
A couple of weeks ago, actually on Wed. Oct 6th, my friend and I were out for our day of shopping and lunch. She had been a bit upset about something that had happened in the family and said she was going to take her blood pressure at the drugstore because she was sure it sky high. Well she took her's and it was elevated and then I said I would take mine too, and it also was elevated to 149/78. We left there and eventually ended up at Wal-Mart and decided we would check our blood pressure again to make sure the first machine was working properly. Well her's was still about the same but mine had gone down a bit to 140/68. My systolic number (the top number) had been going up a bit each time I was at the doctor's, but he wasn't alarmed with it. The next day I went grocery shopping and I just wasn't feeling very good. I couldn't really say what was wrong but just felt "strange". I left that grocery store and then drove over to the one nearest my home for some deli meat and by now I am really feeling strange. I don't know why I even "thought" to go to my drugstore (which is also in that same little mall) and check my blood pressure (I had never done that in the 20 years that we lived here), although DH does sometime when he is out for a walk. Well I sat at the machine took my pressure and these were the numbers that I got....... 210/97..... with a heart rate of 129. At first I thought that there must be something wrong with the machine so I waited for 5 min. and took it again and it was about the same. I can't even begin to tell you gals how scared I was. I went over and spoke to the pharmacist, told here what my readings were (asked if the machine was working properly) and she told me to get in touch with my doctor as soon as possible. I looked at my watch and knew that my doctor's office was closed over the lunch hour so decided to come home. When I got home I quickly called the friend that I see every Wednesday and asked if she could come to my place and take me to the hospital as I was in trouble and scared out of my wits. I then called my husband and left a voice mail for him and told him I was going to the emergency at the hospital. I left the back door open for my friend and she came flying in, yelling, "were are you"? I told her I was just changing into some nice underwear and bra before I go. ;) She yelled at me, that nobody cared what my underwear looked like and maybe she should call an ambulance but I didn't want to go in one. We just got out my back door, and my dil pulled up and wanted to know where we were going, and I quickly told her and she said she would meet us there......she had come because she just had a "feeling" that she should.
Once at the hospital my pressure started to go down and they did an EKG etc .... thank God there was nothing wrong with my heart (and remember I had that cat scan done 3 months before on my head and nothing wrong there either). :) By now, my DH and Son are also at the hospital. When the emergency doctor saw me, my pressure was about 175/85. He asked me what I had been doing that caused my pressure to spike like that and I told him I hadn't done anything. He asked what medication I was on and I had grabbed my meds from home and taken them with me and showed him and then I also told him that I had been getting sinus type headaches and was taking 2 sinus pills every four hours or so for about one and half weeks. :nono: My own had doctor had warmed me when I told him that I was taking sinus medication that it "could" raise blood pressure, but I honestly didn't even give it much thought. Also of course, allergy meds can raise blood pressure and I had taken some of those too. I guess I just thought I never had high blood pressure and didn't pay attention. WRONG....wrong...... :nono:
Well I have been to the doctor's many times during these couple of weeks, and finally I guess the sinus medication has left my system, but my blood pressure is still a little high even for me being a diabetic.... around 145/60 (the systolic is the high one). I bought one of those home monitoring systems and recorded all my readings and took them to the doctor's. Well I saw him again yesterday and he's pleased with the fact that numbers have dropped he has put me on a low dosage of a "Ace Inhibitor". He gave me samples to take for one month and then I have to see him again. I took my pressure this morning a couple of hours after I had taken the first ace inhibitor and it was 124/63. I have told you gals this LONG story for a couple of reasons. One reason is that I wanted you all to make sure that you discuss with your doctors any OTC medicine you might take and also do not take ANYTHING from a health food store because they tell you it is made from "natural ingredients". I didn't do that, but my doctor said lots of his patients have taken things and because the bottle says natural ingredients they figure its safe.......it isn't........ unless you first discuss it with your doctor and he says so. The other reason for this long story of mine is to let Ann know that I did a lot of praying for myself the last couple of weeks BUT that I included her in every one of those prayers.
I am fine, and so happy that my story had a happy ending....and Ann's will too.
Thanks gals for listening. :)

Karen: Sprout is soooooooo Cute! I want him!
Trudy: No you did not over react at all! I would diffently report her to the Manager. I can not believe that she treated you that way. I Probably would of said Yeah I would rather bag them. As I would do a Much better job than you are :) You have every right to speak up you ae paying for the stuff.
Slavika: Oh my Goodness! Your Blood Pressure was very High!!! I can image that you were scared. So glad you went to the hospital that quick and got it checked out. I knew medication could do that. But thats to much! Glad all is well.
I am going to quit WW its just to much for me right now. Havent given notice yet but I will be next week.
Thanks All!

Slavika,
Thank goodness it was the OTC pills. You must have scared out of your mind. :fr: I'm so glad yu are oK now. :)
You know I've never put much stock into all those warnings. But when I'm done here I will go re-read that stuff I take to help me with the postnasel -drip. I've noticed my bloodpressure has been up lately too and i just figured it was all the hurricanes?
Another thing that SIL has been harping on is that when you are older medications can affect you different.
I finally found some window cling pictures to put on the sliding glass door to the Florida room. Poor Sprout tried to go through it while it was closed. Poor little tyke. bumped his head good. :stars: So I put then up at his level Then because the other day I almost did the same thing I put a BIG one at my eye level. :o
Went to the Super walmart to buy some food we were almost out because I'm too paranoid to stock up too much because of all the food I have had to throw away from all the power outages we've had with the storms. So Today I decided to put all that behind me and buy more than 2 days worth of meat. any way where I was going is Walmart sure impressed me as to freshness of their meat. :hungry: We also bought some Jenne"O turkey burgers. Yummy!! :T
Our week end has been a spectacular weekend so far. :sunny: The days are nice and warm and the evening a little cooler. Wish we could have gone to the pool today but I hurt my toe the other day and it still is not healed enough to expose it to the pool water. :kickcan: But it doesn't hurt like it did.
Took MR. Sprout out for a walk eariler that was more like a run. He loved it and i got a work out to keep up with him. He does pretty good on the leash :) but he wanted to run so we did. :tread: Everybody who see's him falls in love with him . And he greets them all like long lost friends. Hope he always that friendly.
Well I'm going to make some decaf coffee :coffee: it just sounds so good right about now. You all have a great rest of the weekend.

Hi Everyone:
Had a busy day today. My amaryllis bulbs had just gotten too crowded, so finally dug them up, and made a new bed. Got some chrysanthemums and planted them out front. With all the digging and bending, I know I found some muscles I haven't used for a while, but am glad to get it all done now. If I hadn't it wouldn't have been done till who knows when. :hot: :tired: I
never get sunburn, but didn't wear a hat, and have noticed quite a red face.
Slavika: That would be a real scare for sure. Glad you found the culprit causing it. I was told sometime ago, to never take any OTC meds, for a variety of reasons. So if I get a cold or something I just have to battle it all the old fashioned ways. It is interesting how the limits for BP have changed. Now they want you to keep your BP below 140. (upper no.) That used to be considered high-normal but no more. That is why I take a BP med now.
Karen: When we had a puppy, I made a paste of cayenne pepper and water and smeared it on the surfaces she chewed most. A couple of tries and she was finished. Then it does just wipe off with a wet cloth. She liked the edges of steps the best. Anyway, I think anything hot and spicy, would do the trick. Maybe you'll have to get some of those little screw-type buttons you use to fasten arm pads to chairs, to hold the puppy pads to the carpet. :D You may find a baby gate to be useful too, when you want to contain him in a smaller area. Just some thoughts.
Glenda: Sorry to hear about your back trouble. Nothing worse than back pain as my DH can attest to. He is getting another type of epidural on Monday, and I hope it will work better than the first one he had. I know carrying a baby can put a real strain on all those muscles. Especially when you pick them up.
Trudy: I hope you will let us know the outcome, when you talk to the store manager. Have you ever found your checkout gal, so busy talking with the bag boy, that you can hardly get her to check your stuff? That happened to us this summer when we were traveling. I always was taught that when you are in a service type job, that the customer always came first. That sure doesn't seem to be the case anymore. ;)
Lily: Glad you have made up your mind to quit WW. You will have a bit more time for yourself. What is a Mexican Pizza? Sounds interesting. There sure are a lot more Mexican type dishes now. Guess that shows how many more Hispanic people there are in our country, and how they have influenced us a lot. Language, as well as cuisine.
Peggy: What are you doing this weekend? Still raking leaves? Hope your DH has found someplace to store all his equipment and tools.
I made a big pot of beef stew for supper tonight, and it was more that we would ever eat, so had a chance to ask our English friend to come and share. She is the one who lost her husband not too long ago, and I know she is very lonely and still grieving a lot. She keeps busy most of the time, but the evenings and night-times are the hardest for her, I think. It is hard to know the best way to help someone in her shoes. I hope that just being around now and again, and listening, is going to help a bit. Any ideas, anyone?
Have a great rest of the week-end everyone. Love you all. for you all :grouphug: and many :thanks: Ann

Ann: The recipe is here:
http://www.lowcaldiner.com/cgi-bin/sefer.cgi?display:1004242994-16598.txt
I dont use Pitas for the crust. I have never like pizzas on a pita. To messy. I use Pillsburydough Lite Pizza crust. If Im gonna have pizza I want crust. I dont add the Hamburger either I just use Boca Crumbles and its enough. I bake at 425 for 15 minutes. It comes out to 4 pts per slice. Its very filling. I always try to eat 2 and end up with 1 1/2
This recipe also doesnt state it But I add Lettuce and Tomates on top after it is baked

G'day all,
Last night in Sydney, home again tomorrow but for........only 3 weeks:(
We have just returned from dinner and I thought I would make use of the internet connection and see what you all have been up to!
We logged onto the internet looking for suitable accommodation for the next 6 months before we went out to dinner.
Slavika what a scare  , I am glad all has turned out OK. I am a bit like KAren and don't worry too much about the supposed side effects of different medication....just goes to show that perhaps we should take note!
Trudy Well that little 'clerk' would not have known what had hit her if I was spoken to like that....yes I did have a few red wines with my dinner tonight ;) ;) but I still would have told her 'what for'. How dare they
Ann sorry to hear your surgery has been delayed, it must be very frustrating for you when all you want to do is get it all over and done with and get on with life.
Re your friend who has recently lost her husband, I can only go by my sister who lost her husband 9 months ago and I think the most important thing is for her to know that she has a 'sounding board'. There are days my sister will ring me 2 or 3 times just to talk when she is feeling a bit down. Those times I really don't say too much but just listenand I think that is what helps her getting over a bad patch.
Glenda hope your back is much better, the worst thing about bad backs is that you always look perfectly OK and people just don't realise how bad you really feel.
Peggy hope ,the sale of your aunt's house will proceed with not too much complications.
Karen is our little mascot Sprout behaving himself??? Someone mentioned he should be our mascot and I think that is a great idea if the little fellow can cope with the responsibility ;) :D ;) :D
Lily nice to hear you WILL take all our advice and give WW the flick.
DH has just made me some coffee, I think I need it ;)
I talk to you tomorrow when I am home, before I go I must say that Cirque du Soleil was just awesome, what artists, it was just breathtaking.
Take care all.....
Cheers
Maria

Slavika what a scare you had. I never realized that the otc medications could really do all that. I very seldom take them but did take some stuff this week for my cold. Don't think I will do that again after reading what happened to you. Glad all is okay.
Lily glad you are quitting WW. When it isn't fun anymore it is time to quit. Thanks for the Mexican pizza recipe. I have never tried those Pillsbury crusts but will have to.
Glenda so sorry to hear about your back. I have been having back problems lately too. All of a sudden for no reason that I can think of it starts hurting and it is hard to move. I usually use heat but a friend said to ice it. I keep meaning to ask my son who works in physical therapy.
Maria so you are off again in 3 more weeks. I don't know how you do it.
Ann sure wish you didn't have to wait longer for the surgery. It is nice of Curves to extend your membership.
Saturday is our Grandma's Halloween party with their grandkids. Since I don't have any grandkids I go and face paint. It is fun and the kids always have something to stump me with. I bought some of those plain brown shopping bags and painted pumpkins, ghosts and witches on them for their treat bags. The money they raise from this goes to a local Kindervelt group and to Children's Hospital Rhuemetology Dept. Still raking leaves. It rained all week and couldn't get out and work on them. Tomorrow night the Bengals are on Monday night football on tv and I am sure they will continure to lose. They never win and I am surprised they are going to be the game of the week.
Hope you all had a nice weekend.

Slavika, You scared me to death, but because you were writing this, I knew it had a happy ending. You DIL "thought she should come over!" You all must be psychically connected. Anyway, glad that it wasn't anything bad. I have had this high BP but I was taking chemo at the time and they were monitoring me. My BP got around 150 over 100 when I started trying to find something that would work--never really did. Just lost some weight and it went down. Go figure! OTC medicines can be killer, literally. We had a couple of very young people who died from taking too much allergy medicine recently in Oklahoma. There is a commercial for Tylenol telling people NOT to take more than the recommended dose. I have been guilty of that when I was hurting a lot, just doubling the dose.
Lily - Get thee to a WW--and QUIT! Just be a member, okay?
Ann - you are working your little head off in that yard of yours. I want you to realize that you WILL work in your yard again, just not for awhile. And then you will be better than ever.
Peggy - when is that grandbaby due? You are going to be a fun grandma, just like Maria. And Maria, when you wrote about what you would have done to the sales clerk, I just smiled. I bet she wouldn't know what hit her. I am sort of that way anymore. This genteel ladylike stuff just doesn't always get it anymore, in my opinion. I definitely let people know when they have crossed my lines of tolerance.
My back was feeling better on Friday, but right now I am sitting here with a pillow in my chair. WIsh this would just go AWAY!

Hi Everybody :)
I always like to "tell" people what they should have said, or should have done in the situation that Trudy found herself in, but if I am in a situation like that and try to say anything I usually end up crying and that really ticks me off. :?:
Glenda glad your back is feeling better, my DH is sure having a rough time with his. Every so often he tries to tell me that it is getting better but I can "hear" :p him when is trying to get off the sofa or tries to tie his sneakers, and I sure don't see any "getting better" happening. His doctor told him that he had initially hurt it when he was lifting some heavy boxes but that he also has arthritis. He told him that the fact that he had arthritis didn't mean his back was going to bother him all the time. We have had so much rain and damp cool days that maybe that makes it worse too. :(
Today we finally got some sunshine, so maybe that will help him. :)
Our Canadian dollar is fairly strong now, which is great for any of us who are going on holidays to the US but it doesn't help our economy much. The exchange rate is 0.8175 which means that it costs us $1.22 for every $1.00 we spend in the US. At one time when we went to Maui it was around $1.50. Big difference today. I have been buying a little bit of US money every couple of weeks, thinking it wouldn't get any better but it does.
Not much else is new with me. My blood pressure good and I feel good. Talk to you all soon. Bye.
Trudy

Slavika so glad you are A-Okay. That was good advice you gave about OTC meds and herbal remedies. On the news last night, they had a segment on the home BP machines. The jist was, that people are not using them right and based on the information they give their doctors, they could be taking BP med they don't need. I know you are doing it right, because you took the Tea Time's BP already...  One thing I didn't know was not to cross your legs while taking BP.
Last week at the grocery store, I did tell the clerk I could do a better job than she was doing. I wrote in a Customer Complaint card and mailed it in. My DH said not to do it. He thought I should just let it go, if the gal gets fired it would be on my conscience....I don't want her fired. Oy Vey.
Glenda my back hurt me for 3 weeks, I wasn't able to work out at all. Heat was the only thing that helped me. I did see my doctor about it and the x-rays showed a narrowing of cartlidge around the nerve.... old age. She said it happens to all of us, and sometimes we can pull a muscle and aggrivate the whole area. Rest and gentle stretching is what helped me.
Peggy The Grandma's Halloween Party sounds like so much fun. Good for you... I would like doing something like that too. It amazes me how much fun the little kiddies have on Halloween. I just love it when they come over. Our little  is going to be Little Red Riding Hood. My DD is going to take her out a bit in the late afternoon since Halloween is on Sunday. We are going to make a point of seeing her, but I want to be home for my neighborhood kiddies in the early evening.
Maria Sounds like your weekend was great. I like Cirque du Soleil too. Quite often they have a program on TV and I enjoy watching it. It would be a treat to see them in person.
Lily Haven't you quit yet? You will be so relieved when you don't have that pressure anymore.
Ann Well, you have a bit longer to wait, but I am sure it is all for the best. It gives you time to help your DH out after his procedure. It is easier to cope with things in smaller doses. Still keeping you in my prayers.
Karen I have been checking up on the Florida temps and have to admit that I might end up being a tad jealous of your move yet. Last week, it was just horrible here, damp and cool.... I think it drizzled for 7 straight days. Today is nicer.
No winter vacation for us this year... instead we are gutting our kitchen and going for a whole new design, cupboards appliances, ... the works. YIKES... exciting and a little scarey.
Our little  has settled on our names... Papa and Bama.. I would have liked something a little more exciting, but I have to admit it is unique. We baby-sat on Fri night and just had a ball with her.
See you all later... :kickcan:

Well- one down and one more procedure to go though. DH did very well with his epidural, even tho' he acted like he had had 'one too many' as a result of the sedation, when I got to bring him home. So far his back doesn't pain him at all. I hope that this will prove to be the solution. It was different from the first one. That was just one shot. Today they did a series of 4 on each side of the spine.
Will all the back troubles Glenda, and Slavika's DH and Trudy, there are things that will help that is for sure.
Today was a busy day. Got up and walked, since I am not going to Curves right now. Then took DH for his shots. Then home, lunch and then chorus practice at the clubhouse. Prepared dinner, and then off to church for Choir practice for our special Christmas Cantata.
We don't have any little ones come trick or treating here. I sort of miss that, and getting to have fun with the kids as they come to the door.
Tomorrow, going to get a hair cut. So there is never a dull moment around here it seems. both my DD have their flight arrangements to come and help around here. That will be good.
I had started this post before and inadvertantly hit the backspace and lost the whole thing and had to start over. Never knew that would happen.
'See ' you tomorrow. Nite Nite. ::yawn: Ann
p.s. Trudy: I'm glad you sent the complaint. My DH would have been the same. I don't think that men like to 'make waves'. :D:

Hi Everybody
I just poped in for a minute I still have to do my walk on the treadmill but Trudy you don't have to worry about that gal at the grocery store being fired because of your complaint. Our labour laws are such that they could not fire her because of ONE complaint AND if she has had several, then perhaps she should look for work where she is not dealing with people. Not to worry my friend, you did the right thing. :)
I also wanted to mention a couple of other things about taking your own BP pressure, whether it is on a home monitor or at the drugstore. First....and I never knew this before, make sure that your bladder is empty. Sit quietly for a couple of minutes with both feet on the floor, preferably with your back firmly against the back of chair with the BP cuff on your arm at the same level as your heart. The other thing to know is that your blood pressure does not remain constant. It can fluctuate as much as 20 to 30 points a day. It's always at it's highest during the early morning hours just before and as you awaken. Blood pressure can also change with the weather. Generally, blood pressure drops during hot weather (another good reason for me to move south, hee hee) LOL LOL unless weather conditions are really extreme, the change isn't enough to be medically significant. Oh well........
Ann happy that your DH made out ok with his back. I will let my DH know that there options out there for him to look into. :)

Boy it is a good thing I didn't take my BP during Charley, Frances or Jeanne. It was probably off the wall.:D: DH also read that you should wait 1/2 hr after eating before taking your BP.
Dh says that things don't feel much differnt yet, but his instructions say probably 72 hours before he could feel relief. I would be nice if it was instaneous.
Got my hair cut today, so I can still look halfway decent for the next few weeks. My garden looks great, and now I have to do something about this cluttered house. We just can't seem to throw out magazines and stuff, and there is only so much storage space. So then the dining table or any other flat surface begins to find a pile of stuff, until I get us both to be ruthless and begin the tossing process. Why oh why can't we both do it right away? :?:
I have been trying to catch up with all of our office work, since I am the bill payer. Also have been having fun making greeting cards to mail. I got a program that has some very nice cards. I am feeling my way around it and so far have turned out some half-way decent things.
Tomorrow DH goes to our family Dr. and I will go along. DH gave up taking Zocor for cholesterol, since it had some bad side effects for him. So have to see what else might be recommended. Also it is his turn to get a flu shot.
DD #1 comes in on Sunday. Am looking forward to her coming. We have always been very close. I think our personalities are more similar than me and DD#2. I guess I just love my girls in different ways.
Have to go to bed early tonight. Last night I was howling at the full moon again. Woke up at 1:30 and couldn't go back to sleep. Went out in the Living room, worked crossword puzzles, and read and finally went back to bed at about 5:00 and was still awake until almost 6:00. I certainly hated to get up.
So nite nite   'See' you tomorrow. Ann

Hi Ann :)
I have a Hallmark greeting card program that Trudy gave me a long time ago and have made many many cards. If it is a "pretty" card (say with flowers) that I printed off, I take some of that Aleene's Tacky Glue (that you can buy at Walmart or a craft store) and with a Q-tip just put a little bit of glue on the flowers/leaves, or whatever and sprinkle a little bit of the "micro fine silver glitter" (also bought at a craft store) on top of the glue (then shake the excess off). It makes for a very pretty card. :) If the card I printed off is a funny one, with a critter or funny looking person I glue on those small little wiggley eyes. That's great for making cards for children. In the scrap booking section of the craft stores you can buy all kinds of things that you can glue on cards you make on your computer and they end up looking very special. Maybe you were already doing these things, but if not you might like to give it a try. It's fun to do too! :)
Time for me to go to bed too. Night. :)
P.S. I had a nice weight loss today at Weight Watcher's
2.2#. :goodscale :cheer:
