Good Friday Morning

Its a beautiful winter wonderland outside this morning, we got another 4" of snow. Its beautiful because every branch on every tree is covered with snow, even though I want it to go away it was wonderful knowing that God gave me such a beautiful ride in to work today. He is Good !!

Watcha all got planned for the weekend ? Nothing here, things I suspect will be melting so it will be a wet one. I have two closets I need to rearrange so I will prob do that tomorrow and then fart around. My laundry is kept up again this week so there wont be much to do this weekend

Get this I'm eating cabbage and eggs for breakfast PFFFFFFFFFT!!!!!! Good thing I have strong cheeks

This is a great way to think, hope you all can read it.....especially the last paragraph.

From "Faithfully Fit," by Claire Cloninger & Laura Barr

My friend Richard has lost seventy-two pounds! It's incredible; he doesn't even look like the same person. A group of us went to lunch the other day, and no fewer than three people came up to him and marveled at the transformation.

"How did you do it, Richard?" they all wanted to know. He made lots of jokes like, "I starved myself for ten months" and things like that. Later I had a chance to ask him in earnest.

"No, really," I said. "How DID you do it?"

"It was so simple," he answered. "Not easy, mind you, but simple."

"Well?" I persisted. "Don't keep me in suspense. I'm writing a book about these things, and my readers await your answer."

"A better choice," he said mysteriously. "I used the principle of 'a better choice.'"

"You'll have to expand on that, Richard," I said. And he did.

"My day is always full of little decisions and mini-crossroads," he explained. "When I come to one, I just ask myself a simple question: what is the better choice? Then I choose it. That's it."

"That's it?" I said, disappointed.

"That's it," he repeated.

"Well, give me some examples," I urged.

"Okay," he continued, "I'm in a restaurant. I open the menu. Am I going to order the grilled chicken or the barbecued ribs? Obviously, the grilled chicken is the better choice. I choose it. Or it's Saturday morning. I have two hours before I'm supposed to pick up my daughters to take them shopping. Am I going to have a lazy soak in the tub, two cups of coffee, and a long session with the daily paper? Or am I going to have a brisk two-mile walk, a hot but hurried shower, and a glance at the headlines? Because I know I need to exercise, I opt to fit the walk in. Or I'm in the grocery store, loading up my cart for the week ahead. I linger for a moment over the picnic ham, but I notice right next to it a frozen turkey breast. I reach for the turkey. It's no big mystery. It's just a way of looking at things that has become a habit. I've even begun to think of it as a game. It works."

Since that conversation, I've used Richard's principle of "the better choice" in my own life and found it to be amazingly helpful. In fact, the more I've thought about it, the more it seems to me that much of "The Game of Life" could be played according to this simple principle. With Jesus Christ as our guide, helping us choose wisely at every small crossroad, how simple our daily journey becomes!

Prayer: Lord Jesus Christ, I thank you that you walked through this world before us, and that we can trust you to be our guide at every crossroads. Help us, Lord, to see each choice in the light of your wisdom. Empower us to choose as you would choose. Be so present and real in every part of our lives that your choices become second nature to us. We pray in your precious name. Amen.

Scripture: "I call heaven and earth to witness against you that today I have set before you life or death, blessing or curse. Oh, that you would choose life; that you and your children might live! Choose to love the Lord your God and to obey him and to cling to him, for he is your life and the length of your days," Deuteronomy 30:19-20, LB.

Affirmation: Jesus Christ dwells within me. He helps me make life-giving choices at each small crossroad.

Suggestion: You are affected positively or negatively not only by what you choose to eat, but by whom you choose to spend time with. Consider the people who make you feel positive and hopeful as opposed to those who make you feel inferior and discouraged. By choosing to spend a good part of your time with those who believe in and encourage you, you are being kind to yourself and enhancing your program of reform and recovery. Whenever there is a choice to be made, surround yourself with faith-filled, positive friends.

Good Morning Chickadees!

Leenie - thanks so much for posting this from "Faithfully Fit". I needed that this morning! Snow again huh? unbelieveable!

I had a busy afternoon yesterday with lots of running around with my youngest ds but we have him ready for his prom next week.

After lunch today I have to meet my oldest ds to help him pick out a nice black suit. He is taking a friend to her prom. So we have Prom's coming out our ears right now.

Tomorrow all my guys have work, and paint ball wars and dates tomorrow night. I need to exercise and color my hair and get to one of my niece's showers in the afternoon. Won't be able to do any cleaning, but no problem, it will be waiting for me next week.

I need to do payroll before the guys start looking for their checks.

I'll be back later.

hugs,
cathy

Hey Leenie - usually proms are closer to May, but there are so many schools all needing to use the same few places where the Proms are held that they start really early, and this year our HS has one of the first.

Neither of my boys are crazy about Proms, but the girls they hang out with really want to go, so waaaaalaaaaaa they go. LOL But the Proms can be a money pit. Some of the girls get $300 to $500 dresses, want to travel in limos, take lots of studio pics, eat out at only the fanciest places, etc etc etc, but thankfully the girls my guys are taking don't have to have all the bells & whistles.

I think a Prom would be much more fun at 40 then it was as a teenager! Wouldn't that be a hoot to have an adult prom

Good Morning Ladies,
Leens.that was awesome! Thanks for sharing it....I have a lovely thin sister in law who uses a similar philosophy....she looks at the food and ask herself "What will this DO FOR ME?" ( my body...nutrition-wise) She said the same thing ...it is a decision and a choice!(everytime I might add)

We are all capable of making right choices.I tell my members we all know the difference between a carrot and a cupcake! We are all "experts " on weight loss but sometimes we need to quit talking about it and start doing it!Sometimes...notice I said sometimes..I look at something and think " This is not even an option for me" ( such as cake for no special occassion etc)..it is easier to think that way!

Well I am dog-sitting "ROCKY" again.he settled in right away this time and didnt pee on my couch ( Thank Goodness) He is the cutest little 4 pound dog I have ever seen!

University of Ky plays basketball tonight.our city will be like a ghost town at 7...............BIG BASKETBALL fans we are! wE BLED BLUE HERE!

nO BIG WEEKEND PLANS.WE ARE SHOWING OUR CONDO A LOT THIS WEEK..HOPE THE CALLS CONTINUE! OPPPSS CAPS.SORRY!

Byeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Hey Leenie!!

I have a rat with just a stump for a tail...And they do have tailless ratties...It's just harder for the rat without the tail to balance and stuff. They get clumbsy! heheehe

No, I postponed it. I have a big tournament coming up April 3rd and I couldn't take the chance of not being fully recovered for it. I will be a Head Judge this time so I didn't want to go in there with a patch on 1 eye and scare the kids ½ to death!! Just what they need...a Pirate Judge. hahahaa!!

I did re-schedule it for April 19th. This puts me in between tournaments and regionals and gives me plenty of time to heal up.

Got a busy weekend coming up...Tomorrow we have a performance at 8 AM for "Jump Rope for Life" for the American Heart Association. Then the street fair...then bowling...then sleep I hope! SO much for me getting my trees planted in the back yard. At least I got the living room finished!! YAY!!

Well, have a good day girls!!

For you, Leenie!!

My boy Harry...with the stump for a tail. Also has a stub for one of his legs there..some fingers missing...etc. But he doesnt know that so I dont tell him.

Here's another one of him semi "Praying". When he lays like this I put his little hands together as if he was saying a prayer and I recite to him in a lil' voice as if talking to a little kid... "Now I lay me down to sleep...". Hubby just looks at me funny...
