Hello, Atkins Chicks!

I'm usually not awake at this time of the morning, but lots of work awaits me. Of course, I had to check in here first.

First off: A very big "Welcome Back!" to Karen! You were very missed! I'm SO glad you are back. And, congrats on your business ventures!

Froufy: Thanks so much for starting the Carborina story thread. That is so fun! We have some very talented writers in our group, if I do say so myself.

Well, weigh-in was yesterday, and good news!! I lost 7.5 pounds! Of course, the bad news is that over the previous two weeks, I gained 10.5 pounds. So, overall I'm up three pounds from my lowest recent weight. I'm still really not sure what accounted for the HUGE gain and the big loss? :?: Maybe that pesky TOM played a part in it???

Anyway, I'm off. Pages are waiting to be edited, and articles are waiting to be written. Long day ahead... Hope everyone has a great Tuesday!!

Take care,

Good morning everyone!

A long and destined-to-be tiring day awaits, so I'm posting now while the fuzz hasn't accumulated on the brain yet. I had a major slip during our Superbowl party on Sunday, but I'm surprised at how easy it was to get back on track yesterday. It probably had something to do with how my stomach revolted and remind me about every 1/2 hour that this was not the food it was accustomed to eating! I paid attention to my husband's written warnings and took care of my gliding BEFORE drinking my glass of wine last night........ouch! I'm so thrilled right now because people at work are starting to notice my loss and are coming up and saying something to me. I've had so many requests to borrow my book that I'm not sure exactly who has it at this particular moment!

Jina: Yahooo on that weight loss!

Karen: Welcome back! I missed you dearly, especially since you were the one that found me in the journals and pointed me to this group. Glad to know that dd is doing well.

Froufy: I am getting more of a kick out of the Carborina saga than you could possibly imagine.

Hope everyone has a good one!

Morning y'all!
I haven't had much time to post lately, but I do sneak in and check occasionally when work permits. I've been busier lately than a one-armed paper hanger. I've been doing well following plan...but man, oh man, did I screw up last night. I had 1/3 of an atkins bar with a large cup of coffee last night after coming in from a walk....BIG mistake! I tossed and turned all night and don't feel like I got a wink of sleep :(
I'm hoping today is a slow one at work, but Murphy's law ..........

Well, here's to a great Tuesday!

02-03-2004, 08:00 AM
 I just realized today's the 3rd! I looked at the header saying Feb. 10 and started to panic because I haven't gotten any Valentine's Day shopping done yet!

Good Morning Ladies :p

Lizzy, I love your heart avitar :D

Nothing much to say today as usual, busy here at work, even with the boss gone :( lolol... but its nice just the same. Its icky and cold out, rain snow sleet snow rain OY.. calgon take me away lol...... HURRY SPRING !!

I can not wait until Easter, I really can't, just the thought of those spring flowers and being able to go outside w/only a sweater instead of a heavy coat, boots, hats, and gloves.

Have a wonderfully OP day everyone.

Have a few things on my plate this morning, not to mention this emergency pager thing isn't helping, it went off at 2:45p.m. and that situation wasn't resolved until 10pm, so much for getting my work done. But that's what today's going to be for (and this morning as I'm reading posts :( ) Once again all I can say is that at least it's once a year and I'm getting it over with early this time. Busy day at work, it's the monthly meeting today when all the social workers get together and *****, it's very uplifting I assure you ;)

KAREN YAY! Glad you're ok and op.

Sped, glad you're back on track so easily, good for you!
Bizzy, hope you get some sleep, ugh, that sounds terrible.
Leenie, I'll vote for spring, although we're getting warmer up here so I am not going to complain in the least.

Gotta run ladies, till tomorrow.

02-03-2004, 09:30 AM
I kept having to pop up to the top to make sure I was on the right day. We received snow last night but once again NO delay or cancellation of school. Hubby's working 3rd shift this week (and possibly next) so of course oldest DD slept w/me--along w/the dog! Wasn't too bad until the dog decided to hog the bed. It's back to work for me today. I was hoping for another day off because I really didn't accomplish nothing yesterday. lol.

Hope you all have a great day :)

02-03-2004, 09:34 AM
Good morning ladies! I haven't been around in a couple days, still not feeling well. It has been fairly easy to stay on plan, because I'm not eating very much at all. I've even squeezed some exercise in. Not as much as I'd like, but I can only lay around feeling sorry for myself for so long. I'm going to try and catch up on some laundry today, while laying around trying to feel better. Have a good day everyone!! :)

02-03-2004, 09:52 AM
Good morning ladies.

BAD, BAD, BAD Jane yesterday. She was very tired and feeling down so she helped herself to illegal foods. Today she is being good. :D

It's kind of funny how those old habits have not gone away. I can stay on plan everyday except when I am tired or down I go for the junk. Hmmmm.

Finally have an install scheduled at work so my day should go by faster. I also have to fill out my annual review before the end of the week. I hate doing those stupid things. We have to fill out this form on line and then our supervisor fills out the same one on us. Then we get together on the phone and the end everyone in the company gets the same cost of living raise for cryin out loud! Oh well, at least it is something.

nutski: sorry you don't feel well. Get better soon.

lady_adnerb: Our weather is a little crappy today also. We are supposed to get a rain, snow and ice storm tonight. It is going to be over with by morning thank goodness.

Tummy Girl: Can I ask what kind of social work do you do? We should start a "what you do for work thread".

Leenie: you know what kills me about Easter.....I remember as a kid getting a new outfit that would just have a sweater for it and wearing white shoes. I would freeze to death! It was never quite spring. And what is up with being able to wear white shoes before Labor Day?

BizzyLizzy: :hyper: Sounds like you had quite a night......"one-armed paper hanger" That reminds me of my dad...he used to always say that.

Spedmom: It's so nice when people start to notice. Makes you feel so good all over!

jdoggmartin: Congrats on the 7.5 :cp: You'll lose the rest I know you will.

KAREN: We missed you...welcome back.

Well I'm least when I am busy typing it looks like I working

02-03-2004, 10:26 AM
Good morning all!
I'm later than usual because when I got to work this morning.... the internet was down *GASP*. So, I started doing some homework. My class was canceled last night about 2 hours into it.... so I had just enough time to finish my test before heading home. Yippee! Couldn't wait to tell my sister how I had managed to turn up my nose at the cheese and crackers, huge yummy sheetcake, AND soft sugar cookies with pink icing in the teacher's lounge yesterday. She was impressed... and honestly... so was I!! I never knew I had it in me.

nutski- I hope you feel better very very soon. It sucks being sick.

02-03-2004, 10:37 AM
Morning chickadees!!!

Happy to see everyone in good form!

Jina!!!! Congrats on the loss that is soooooo great, who cares what you were up before 7.5 is FABULOUS girl!

Fouf: I am soo happy you started the story thread I love it!

nutski: great to see you back, hope you feel better soon!

Bizzy: Hope you get an easy day at work since you didn't get much sleep, I was like that on Sunday nite!!

Sped: Glad you are back on track, i find it easy to get back on after a mishap and I am happy to do it since my tummy is a crab hater now!

Tummy: hope your day is easier today!!

Lady A: my dh works nights so I have 2 dogs and a 5 yr old who sleeps with me every night! URGH....

Jane: glad to see you bounce right back, I know how you feel I had a meltdown last week and helped my self to illegal foods...then my tummy paid the price!

well ladies, I am getting ready for another fun filled day at work, still in training. My mom had a mini drama the past couple days, her belvoved Chihuahua "Pilar" was sick and thought she had a stroke. Well I had to calm my mom down and get her all together when she was sobbing. I have never heard my mom cry like that...she is not a particularly emotional was wierd. But just like i told her I doubted it was a stroke it sounded like vestibular disease, and i was right, Pilar went to the vet and is doing much better. My mom is sooooooo attached to her since we all live up here and she is by herself in CA. I am soooooo on TOM but doing fine on WOE, so that is good , I will wait until TOM is over to weigh in.

Have a great day!!!!

02-03-2004, 10:38 AM
Shimma you snuck in on me! You and your sis are doing an excellent job!!!

02-03-2004, 12:31 PM
Man, sorry about the wrong date. I was getting a little ahead of myself. That's what I get for being up that early, I guess.

Leenie: Is there any way you could fix the date on the main Atkins thread? I don't want to keep confusing everyone. I couldn't do it. Thanks!

02-03-2004, 12:35 PM
Personally, I found the date to be hysterically funny.... I fell for it, and someone else said they had to keep looking. Nothing like wishing the time away, eh?

02-03-2004, 01:06 PM
Hello everyone!

Welcome back to Karen! Now we just have to find all those other old regulars who seem to be MIA...Jamie, fullfig, supersized, supergrl etc.

I totally went off plan on Super Bowl evening, but I didn't overeat, just ate non-Atkins approved stuff. And I finally found some Bacardi Breezers, which I haven't seen since I was in Europe, so I splurged a little on the alcohol end of things. But it's so bizarre to have a party on a Sunday evening.

You're right, the story thread is hilarious! I haven't added to it yet, but I love reading it. :)

Anyway, I'll pop in later in the afternoon when I have more time to sneak on. ;)

Take care all!

02-03-2004, 01:29 PM
Good morning all! :)

I am so sore! After almost 2 months of no weights... UGH! So I decided I am going t start slow. Took today off and will be back in the gym tmo!

Thanks for all the welcome backs! :) I really did miss you all! I didnt know Jamie fullfig and Supersized were missing!

LOL! I didnt notice the date! :)

JINA! WTG on the loss! It had to be mostly water! It had to be!

WTG Shimma on avoiding all that food!

Theo'sgirl - I understand what your mom was going through! My puppy was throwing up 2 days after we got her... I was so upset I was crying too! But the Vet said it was just stress. SHe went to the pound on Thursday after a 3 hour drive over the mountains, then got spayed and shots on friday then sat ans sunday she had been at petsmart adoptions and we adpted her that sunday.. then monday the kids were off school and home with her all day! Poor baby..

Jane - I do the same thing.. although I tend to go for saltly stuff on plan.. but over eat them!

Tummy - I remember the last time you had the emergancy pager! It was august wasnt it? Im glad you are getting it earlier this year! I would want it over too! :)

Spedmom - Isnt it wonderful when people start noticing? I got "Karen you are wasting away" today when I dropped my kids off at school. She wants to do atkins too. I think I have become the poster girl for atkins around school!

I hope I didnt miss anyone! :)

Off to do some work... but I will check in later!!

02-03-2004, 01:45 PM
Hey Chickies!

Not much time as usual. I did manage to get my tire fixed, my dr appt. taken care of and to school all on time! Even managed to race home and make a little pizza to eat. :dizzy:

Today, I met with my "manager" (not my real one since I'm a contractor) and we talked about what the current hiring situation is like at the company I'm working for. Not great, but not bad. I still have 6 months until my contract is up. I'm really thinking I just want a stable job with good pay and great insurance so dh and I can buy a house and start thinking about starting a family. OMG - am I growing up????

Was very good last night and refrained from drinking a Thin Ice. I really need to stay away from the alcohol for a good while. It's just so hard when dh works at a bar. I'm really trying to get him to quit. Partly because I don't get to spend as much time with him as I'd like and partly because I'm sick of the place.

Froufy - I'm loving our story! Thank you!!!

Karen - I'm still dancing with happiness that you're back!

For all that had recent "slips" - glad you hopped right back on!

For all the rest of you

02-03-2004, 03:06 PM
Wow has this turned into a nice day!! The sun is out and the snow is MELTING. HOORAY!!! I know, doesn't mean it'll last. I've got the order form for cookies done EXCEPT for the lady that called last night and said "oh buy the way I need these cookies ordered". :bomb: Now I've got to try and figure out how to change my totals! HMPH! So much for being done w/paperwork on time for a change. Other than that I've got to sit down and figure out what to do for the next GS meeting. It shouldn't be THAT hard I wouldn't think ;) Just takes me time to get in the mood to look at it. Kind of why the patches, badges and try-its never made it on the girls' vests. Wish I could do magic ;) Well, other than that my day's going OP. The only "off" plan eating I've done is the sf jello w/whipped stuff. SUPER yummy and I think I'm now addicted to it. Could be worse right? As long as I'm still losing shouldn't hurt right? :smug: We'll see this weekend how that one works.

Hope you all are having a great day :)

02-03-2004, 04:03 PM
Hey Everyone!
Last night I had to make chocolate chip cookies for my daughters class treat. OMG.. me the master muncher of dough picking managed to keep her sticky fingers out of it.. I didn't even have a nibble. The cookies came out of the oven and my entire apartment was smelling yummy! The kids had a couple.. DH had a couple and I stood my ground and didnt give in. However, all I could dream about last night were those darn cookies.. I was sitting at a table with plates and plates filled of them and I was just munchin away. I woke up feeling guilty and I hadn't even really had one. Hope I don't gain weight from it ;)
Now that work is over my real job begins so hopefully I'll be on later to post more.

02-03-2004, 04:29 PM
TRAZZIE - I AM SO FRICKIN' PROUD OF YOU!!! :cheer: :cb: :cb: :cheer:

You're an inspiration! The strength and dedication that took - wow! Way to go!

Wow - now I feel bad because I was hopping on to vent :s:

After all the hassel yesterday to get my flat tire fixed, I go out to go to lunch today and it's flat again!!!! Argh! I spent my whole lunch break getting the damn spare back on. Happily, dh came to my rescue and helped out as well as bringing me some buffalo wings for lunch. I spend 20 minutes killing mysef trying to jack the car up because I was doing it the hard way. :^:

Hey! I'm putting a mile on my equator trek! That was definitely work! ;)

02-03-2004, 08:27 PM
WOO HOO Trazzie! Good job! I just did the same thing last week with Chocolate cupcakes for my daughters 1/2 birthday party at school (she has a summer birthday so her teacher celebrates 1/2 birthdays)

Brenda - are you a brownie leader? I am a Daisy leader! We meet on the 2nd ant 4th tuesdays of the month! How fun to meet someone here that is a leader!

Star - I cant believe that you got another flat! Your DH is such a sweetie though to come to the rescue though!

I got some exercise in too today! I forgot about my daily walks with the puppy! Man I have to get her pictures up! Give me a few and I will see what I can do!

02-03-2004, 08:38 PM
Karen--I'm a Brownie leader and a Junior co-leader. The Brownies meet on every other Wednesday and the Juniors the following Thursdays. So I'm always doing one thing or another for it. lol It IS cool that there's another leader on board here :)

02-03-2004, 08:39 PM
Here is my new baby

02-03-2004, 08:40 PM
what kind of puppy is that??

02-03-2004, 08:43 PM
She is a 3 month old 25 pound black lab/German shepard mix! The vet says she will probably be about 80-90 pounds full grown! ACK!

I had to adjust those pictures! They were too big!

02-03-2004, 09:06 PM
My 3 yr old Lab is about 80 pounds. She wasn't supposed to get that big!!! We were told she wouldn't be any bigger than her mom. But she's as big if not bigger than her dad!!! ( she 3 or 4 now? I'll have to look at the calendar. I think she's actually going to be 4)

02-03-2004, 10:36 PM
Here I am - exhausted and headachey - and I will DEFINITELY go to bed early tonight - have been burning the candle at both ends and I am definitely feeling it - must be age???

Decided to start next cycle of bc pills as I am tired of having my period for over a week now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hope this puts an end to this madness

Started snowing this pm and now we have tons of the white stuff - which means an extra 10-15 mins cleaning it off in the morning - and still having to leave early for my course - what a bummer.

Course was good - quite interesting to hear all the "speakers" talk about the different branches of Health Canada and al lthe stuff that we do - the best was of course the mention of the Canada Food Guide being the most requested publication and then someone pipes up "what about Atkins"....that's so popular now. The instructor had the nerve to say the Food Guide has been around for 50 years so it's gotta be good - I don't think people realize how long Atkins has been around - it's not just a passing fad!

The chair I was in almost crippled me - like an ejection seat - could barely adjust it - and will try and "switch" it tomorrow!

Fun part was bumping into another "ex-MBA" classmate - what a hoot as we stared at each other across the room - we had a mini-reunion at coffee break and lunchtime - she just joined the gov and is looking to move up so I gave her some "advice" was fun seeing her again (altho I do remember having her on some of my team projects and her being a bit ditsy!).

Shimma - good job on avoiding all those nasty foods - you will be stronger for it!

Jina - congrats on getting rid of most of those extra pounds! Well done....and did I miss a week of my life somewhere along the way? ha ha ha

Star - good for you for avoiding the devil liquor! I had plain sf tonic water tonight...without the gin! :D Nice having your "mechanic" bring your lunch to you!....what's his reward?

Glad you are all enjoying the "Carborina" fairy tale - I got the idea from the word association thread....remembered doing this on some other board and it was such a hoot!...and we are all very talented writers - even if you feel uninspired please feel free to add even a sentence or two (Lekker!).

Trazzie - what a great show of dedication and willpower - I know I could not have done it!.....You should be EXTREMELY PROUD of yourself!

Karen - looks like the kiddies are enjoying their new puppy! How's it going?

Well I got a couple of my magazines in the mail, so time to scrub my princess face and brush my pearly whites and snuggle in for some reading and coziness.

Tomorrow night I am GOING TO THE NYLONS CONCERT - I am so excited!!! Have been acclimatizing myself by listening to their cd's in the car and shower.........can't wait - we have FRONT ROW SEATS.....and I sing along!

Froufy

02-03-2004, 11:08 PM
Karen the pup is sooooo cute, what a cutie punkin pie!

02-04-2004, 12:06 AM
OMG I can fianlly settle down enough to tell you all about my lunch. Some people and I from work went to Baja Fresh for lunch, it was all good, I ordered basically a burrito innards in a bowl and had them throw some lettuce on it. Well we get back to work and I am eating and I taste something funny. IT IS RICE...all mixed in wth my food (even though of course I had asked for no rice) Well I had already inadvertatly eaten some , so I tried to pick through the rest because I had to eat soemthing. By the time I got home tonight my stomach was turning cartwheels and I have spent the whole evening in the bathroom (to say it in a nice way) plus I am sooo TOM I already had cramps!! (THANKS ALOT BAJA FRESH FOR ADDING TO IT!!)

I still am amazed at the body's reaction to the carbs, it is like I was allergic all along and my body just figured it out or weird! I only wish if i was gonna be "carb sick" it was because I got to eat something good...not just some stupid rice!! :)
