Hey all! Not a very busy day here, I guess. I went and caught up all my journalling for the week and I feel better now that I know where I'm going. I made some cabbage soup so that will be a staple for the next couple of days. My house stinks! :(

Got the new carpet in upstairs. Now just need to finish painting. Then we can get the new bed moved in. King-size ya know! Can't wait! "D

Brenda: Nice job with the weightloss. You are so close to that 100#'s, I bet you can taste it! Good for you.

Annie: Hope you didn't mind me bringing you over here. I was afraid you would get missed. Did you just put your location on. I didn't notice you were from Michigan before. Or did I and I just don't remember???? :spin: Anyway, whereabouts? I'm in Sterling Heights on the north end of Detroit.

Ok you guys, guess I'll let you go. I think it's time to make some dinner. You all be good.

Happy Friday!

First of all, I hate to be stupid, but where is the smilies legend? I swear it used to show on the left side here for those of us who are suffering short memories.

Just a quick post this morning, its been a very traumatic last couple of days between work and dealing with the mortgage company. I'm awaiting a call so I can go have a face to face fit about being kept in the dark on the closing costs. Dealing with all this sure kills any joy you could have getting a home.

But anyway, I have been sticking to the journalling and getting a bit of exercise in daily and its helping. I can tell my pants are a little looser. This is just what I have to do to lose and even control my weight. Nothing else seems to work for me. Now realizing that for about the 40th time, maybe I will keep focused on it!

Congratulations to everyone who is losing and being focused and for just being here. Have a great day and weekend everyone.

Happy Friday Everyone......

Determined: I think something funny is going on with the smiles.... earlier today, I didn't see them either, but they are there now.........GO FIGURE. Now don't let the stress get to you... been there done that :o
Isn't it great when you can start feeling the difference in your clothes... KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!

Angie: Thanks for the nice message and have a great week-end.... I know you'll be good but if you slip a bit don't let it get you down.. Go for a walk and make sure the next things in your mouth are good choices... :)

Hey Thin, you will have to talk some pictures of your room and scan them and get them out here so we can share.... I'm jealous, I've been waiting for my hubby to do my room for over a year. That cabbage soup I can smell it from here! (just kidding) As for tasting that 100 pounds, yes and I think it tastes like chocolate cake.... NO I mean a big salad with fat free dressing....

Annie: Now that was something I hadn't thought about before.... Finger nail diet..... YUCK! You keep going there and before you know it you will be at your goal....

Have a great weekend everyone.....

Hi everyone! It's another beautiful day here. The sun is bright and I've come to my favorite place to visit friends. What could be finer????

I'm working 2 different theatres this weekend at 2 different ends of town so life will be hectic for the next couple of days. Don't know if I'll get here much, but I will try 'cuz it's just too hard to catch up when I miss a day. :( :) That's sad for missing so much and happy that the thread is so busy! :( :)

Angie: Enjoy your trip. That should be nice with the weather being so great. Stuff in Kentucky should almost be in bloom.

Terri: You're right. More than anything, the journalling helps!

Brenda: Found out hubby didn't like the comforter set I bought (actually out of the package I don't like it much either) so we're back to the drawing board as far as that goes. We'll have to see what we end up with. :spin:

Gotta run. Told hubby I would help trim out the closets for painting. YUCK!!

Whew, what a workout. One thing about the weather turningbetter is that the gym gets less crowded, which is sure nice :). But it makes me long to be in hiking shape. Hopefully not too long now.

Determined, DH and I have only bought two houses, but the mortgage end of it was an extreme hassle both times. I certainly don't envy you. But a year from now it will be all behind you and you'll be enjoying your new home. I on the other hand would love a townhome about now, just not a handywoman or a gardener, though I love it when I have fresh herbs so close by the kitchen. Maybe a yard boy is in order, one from Sweden or France.... You are so right about the journaling, if I don't do that then I don't stay OP.

Hannah, have a great time in Kentucky, beautiful area.

Hello everyone! Gosh, where is everyone? I guess I'm the only one without a life and time to get on here and jabber. Oh well. I hope you are all out having a great weekend. :)

I worked at a theatre last night and tonight and have avoided theatre popcorn for the second weekend in a row. Yahoo! :D DH went with me and we stayed at the theatre most of the day. I was counting for The Brothers. Cute movie, very funny. And we were able to see Someone Like You the new one with Ashley Judd. Definitely a 'chick flick'. Cute, romantic comedy. And also Say It Isn't So a crazy romantic comedy. Hey, who needs Ebert and Roper when you've got me to critique your movies for you????

Well girls, gotta hit the hay. Tomorrow is another day at the theatre. Hope to catch a couple of other movies while we're working. I'll give you the rundown when I get back. Gotta go.

Hello!

Where did the weekend go? Its already Sunday evening. Didn't get enough done this weekend. I never do and not sure what I do instead.

The mortgage scare is over and am trying to light a fire under the foundation/builder's butt so that we can get into our house this year not next. Actually, by May is what I want. Its so hard to plan when we have no idea. But I've been doing some packing and cleaning. I have to rethink what we keep and plan on getting rid of a lot more stuff in a garage sale or donation.

I went crazy at Wal-mart yesterday. I bought a bunch of garden seeds and a starter tray so I can start veggies for the garden. I've even ordered a few trees & bushes from garden catalogs. I am so desperate to finally have a place of my own I guess. I may have trees in pots until I get there but by golly, I'm doing something postive!

Then DH is so desperate to have a dog we bought a rottweiller puppy today. Fortunately, its only 4 weeks old so we won't need to get it for awhile. My goodness they are sooooooo cute when they bark. I know, it won't be nearly as cute when its in my home, 3 am and scares the crud out of me.

Woops, this isn't diet related. Sorry! But I have been doing fairly well on that end. We went to Old country Buffet and I did fairly well. I took small portions, ate lots of salad, and didn't even look at the desserts. Also didn't eat breakfast and will have a very small dinner. So, I'd count that as maybe I'm learning.

Geri - Thanks for the movie info. I rented "Titus" and "Pitch Black" this weekend. Don't bother. Awful. But I also rented "Remember the Titans". Loved it. Keep us posted and thanks for all your positive posts. You're such a help.

WWQ - Thanks for the kind words. You're a little ahead of me in the exercise area this weekend. I need to go walk but its a bit chilly outside. Maybe I'll be inspired from you to go hit the treadmill downstairs.

Hope everyone else's weekend has been successful and good. Good luck to everyone at the start of another week. Keep up all the positive thoughts and work.

Take care!

Hi all!

Well, girlfriends, WI was not very nice. I am up 1#. And that's after avoiding movie theatre popcorn 3, count them, 3 nights in a row! Oh well, TOM is coming and maybe that's it, or maybe I'm just kidding myself and ate way too much. Either way, it is a NEW week. This time I will not start off the week heavy and then try to make up for it at the end of the week. I will choose lighter fare from the very beginning. I guess I'm not as good at 'reverse banking' as I thought I could be!

Anyway, let's see, yesterday we saw 2 movies. Down To Earth. It's a comedy. Was ok, I guess. I slept through most of it. Don't know if it was boring, or I was tired. And we saw Exit Wounds. It was not at all what I thought it would be. It was about crooked cops and some good ones that save the day. It was really good.

Terri: Glad the mortgage blues are over with. It sounds like you're really getting into this new place. Don't worry if your posts aren't 'diet related'. What do you call movie reviews??? The puppy sounds like fun. Have you named him/her yet??? Now we expect something cleaver, you know about all of Maggie's names for her pets! I hope you're in in time to plant all those trees. You'll be in a pickle with them lined up in pots in your front yard!!!

Gotta run. Paperwork to get finished. You all behave.

Terri - congrats on that mortgage and the dog. DH is wanting one as well but he is allergic, and of course DH is not willing to go to a doctor to get allergy medication :dizzy:. When he finally does that then I'll know he's really committed towards getting an animal (kind of like being a parent).

thin - I still commend you on the popcorn, the 1 lb. could have brought some buddies with it had you succumbed to that temptation. But it sounds like you know what can be done better this week so I'm sure you'll be happier on the next WI.

Wow - I am SOOOO glad I went to the meeting last week, even though I knew I'd have to face a gain. I thought about not going, but had a serious talk with that evil self . I decided that I truly was in this for the long haul, and that I was willing to take my lumps when they were deserved. When I got on the scale I got to face a loss of 7.8 lbs.!!!!! I got my 5 lb. ribbon and now I'm only 4/10 of a pound away from my 10 lb. star and being able to add a charm to my bracelet. :D.

I'm wondering, with this attachment thing, if we can attach anything. I've mocked up an Excel spreasheet with 7 worksheets (Instructions, weekly journal with a Points Booster calc at the bottom, Points Calculator, weekly weigh-in data, WIs chart, monthly measurements data, and MM chart. If enough are interested I can try attaching it, but don't know if it will work like an e-mail or not. But then, maybe ya'll have enough crap taking up computer space :).

Good morning,

I finally found the smilies. Well DUH, you just click on the word. My colors must be weird because it isn't highlighted or anything. Maybe its just me being weird.

Got on the scale for my first official "I'm back" weighin. Down 2 pounds. Which I attribute to the journalling and a bit of exercise. I've really got to work on my weekends since that's where I tend to overdo the food and underdo the exercise.

Geri - Congratulations on being strong over the popcorn. Weigh-ins are so frustrating. I can be down three pounds for three days in a row and on weigh-in day be either right where I started or up. That's why I quit going to meetings and the once a week weigh-in. The one pound could be water. Just keep working on doing the right things each day and it will come off.

Maggie, Cynthia & Angie - Yes, a very nice bunch of losers indeed. Congratulations to all.

Maggie, love your attachment.

Cynthia - your speadsheet sound cool. I'd be interested in something I can put on my work laptop.

Oh yeah, the new dog's name will be.....Bulldozin' Baron Krapes von Angel Acres. aka BEAR. The Bulldozin' is from the father. Baron is well, what goes with Bulldozin and is German. Krapes is my husband's last name (he thinks he's the only German left). von Angel Acres is "from the home of Angel Acres" (the name of the new 5.7 acre farm).

I guess I need to get ready to go to work. I'd rather go back to bed.

Be strong and keep up all the good work. Have a great day!

Good afternoon everyone! :D I sponge painted the first coat on my bedroom this morning and feel as if I have accomplished something at least. Guess I'll have to wait a couple of hours to do the second color. I think I'm going to like it, it will be very subtle. We used cream for the base and I've already sponged a really light grey and then the final will be bright white over that. So far, so good.

Maggie: Good to see ya. I love your graphics. You are my computer woman! :)

Hey hey,

Just checking in. I'm still journalling although today I will blow my points. But at least I'm writing it down. I even got on the spinner tonight for some cardio and did some hand weight work. One day at a time.

Maggie - love the graphic. Very uplifting on a cold, rainy day here. Thanks!

Cynthia - wow, your website is very impressive. I keep thinking I want to do my own but never get the time to figure it out. Thanks for the spreadsheet, I've downloaded it but work has been too much of an interference to check it out. But I will this weekend.

Geri - my sister is sponge painting her bathroom too. Her's is cream, green and burgundy. Your's sounds very mellow and pretty. Too bad we can't see it!!

Got to go. DH is waiting for me to go out to chinese buffet.

Whew, had a good workout on the spin bike. That is still the best method for me if I want to get my heart rate up without pounding the heck out of my knee joints. My Avs play soon so this has to be short.

Terri - hope the spreadsheet helps. I may have to do a fix, I misunderstood how the points really work. I thought the maximum amount of calories we could consume in 1 day would be 10 over our max range (ie., my max is 33 so I can only use 10 banked points in one day - so absolute max is 43). I have the program set up to only allow 43 to be used in one day. Now I have heard that the points booster will let me go higher than 43, if I get enough exercise in for the day. I am going to verify that with my leader then see if my actuary husband can come up with a fix for me. That makes the calc a bit complicated, or maybe not. Haven't tried fixing it yet. By the way, the week is going slow for me as well :(.

Thin - you have too much energy for me girl. Painting and all that. Hope it turns out great. I've never tried the sponge technique, and not sure when I'll be able. I've always wanted to try it. However our house was built in 1895, has lots of wood trim, and an old fashioned look. The sponge technique just wouldn't go.

Maggie - hey, I've added your address to my mailbox. Qwest was such a pain and never answered my e-mails. Just don't understand customer service these days. They changed my password to my account and I don't know what it is so can't access my old e-mail account. Now I don't want to because it's been a few months and I'd hate to see how much stuff is in there .

I did a good OP day today. I am on a roll..... got to stay on it too. I am depending on me to do a good program these Spring and Summer months. OOOOO love fresh fruit! Looking forward to smoothies for breakfast out on the deck when the weather warms sufficiently. We are going to do lunch tomorrow in Johnson City at the Olive Garden. I will have a WW breakfast bar in the morning with my Hazelnut coffee and OJ with a bit of Perrier in it. Today we were in Mountain City and went to Subway for lunch. I got a 12 inch turkey-ham and saved half for dinner with my veggie soup. I actually had to find something else to eat to make up to my bottom range of points.

GERI I would love to see your room when it is finished..... maybe you could take a picture and e-mail it my way. All that nice exercise will give you double benefit ~ a nice looking room and firmer body.

TERI you go girl! WRITE WHAT YOU BITE even if you are going over. It shows an honest reflection of where you are. I write everything down ~ especially when one of those hungry days hit. We can do this thing.

QUEEN that is good you do that spin bike. Rack up those miles. You have a nice web site and it shows a lot of work you went to to get it that way. Looking good.

All right Maggie, roll on girl. I'm with you on the smoothies, though I always have to have a piece of high fiber bread along with it - gots to have something to chew. I suppose I could just not process the fruit quite so much - but then it wouldn't be a smoothie - would it? I love reading the end of your posts, can't wait to see what you are going to do next.

And on the matter of writing everything down, Amen. I know it's hardest when we want to go hog wild, but for me it really helps to cut down the damage. I may have planned to eat the entire pan of chocolate brownies (fortunately the oven is on the fritz right now so that won't be a temptation) but once I calc the points, there's a voice that says; "You know, maybe I'll be satisfied with only 1/4th of the pan." Now, I'll still be going over on the points obviously, but not nearly as bad had I not took the time to assess just how much I was about to put in my body. It keeps me from being able to lie to myself as well, by thinking the binge really wasn't all that bad. It stares me in the face.

Well, off to the gym. Later gators.

 hi ya'all. It is a nice rainey day here this day and a wonderful day to go to the city. We went to the book store and then had lunch at the Red Lobster insteand of the Olive Garden as we had planned but they are both owned by the same people so..... but I am glad we went there for they had my very most favorite fish - Pacific Red Snapper. Yep only 3 points for a nice grilled piece of it. I do great there if I control myself by not eating too many of those garlic cheese biscuits. Those little hunks of delight cost a whopping 3 and half points each. Glad I have a recipe that I can make them at home for 2 points each.

Good morning everyone! Well, just got the youngest off to college again. He's called twice since he left (a half hour ago) to add stuff to the list of junk we have to deliver to him tomorrow.

My bedroom is almost done. The sponge painting went well. It's hard to tell what the final product will be when you pick the colors out. It always looks different on the wall and is sometimes hard to picture what it will look like. But I am very happy with the results. My new bed is set up and the dressers are back in place. It's shaping up pretty well. I'm disappointed that the comforter set I ordered won't be in until mid April.

Food has been rather 'iffy' this week. I am back to not journalling and I hate it. Why is journalling such a problem? It's not hard, it's not too time consuming, what is the deal???? Oh well, I WILL get better!

Terri: Your sister's color combo for her sponge painting sounds real pretty. I have now sponged almost every room in the house - all in different color combos. I like them all, but of course there are several that I really love! :spin:

Cynthia: Ooooh, you have one of those old treasures of a house. I love it, sight unseen. :)

Maggie: Sounds like you're really sticking to it. Good girl. Can I bug you for your recipe for the cheesy biscuits? Pretty Please? :^:

Angie: Hang in there. TOM doesn't have to last all month! :o

Yay, did well at lunch with a friend today. When I first walked in and saw the plates swimming with cheese I almost faltered. But I stuck to the items I planned to have and as is well in the world tonight :D.

Angie - SOME ENCOURAGEMENT. Okay, that's probably not all you wanted. I had the same issue come up on Tuesday. Wanted my old stand-by, the quart of Starbucks Mocha Java ice-cream. Didn't know why since WI was so good on Monday. Then realized it was TOM (probably because I was feeling pixxed off and didn't have a reason). Somehow for me knowing what it was helped. I was able to reason with myself, knew it was a short-term feeling, and was able to fight it.

Maggie, I would love the recipes. My e-mail is clarkfinch@hotmail.com Thanks much ma'am.
