Hi Everybody We just had a quiet day at home yesterday. I am reading the Dean Koontz novel "From The Corner of His Eye" and so far I am really enjoying it. Koontz's books are usually a little strange but I like "strange". LOL :D
I'll come back later and see how everybody is doing. Bye for now.

Maria: Oh poor camels. Sorry you had a bad day with your sister. Hate it when people are that way.

Slavika: Never heard of Dean Koonitz before. I really need to get back into reading. But lately it has been crazy at home so havent been able to. Hopefully it will slow down soon!

Slavika, if it is a Koontz' book and it isn't strange, it must be a "Joe" Koontz book. I too like him. Have you noticed how so often there is a dog in his books as an innocent bystander.

Geri It is so nice to see you again. I think your "almost" 10 pounds is just a fantastic weight loss! I would love to have 10 pounds gone. Please be encouraged. I think your program sounds very intriguing. Is this through your church? I looked around our church yesterday and thought that sounded like a wonderful thing for a group of women in church because the Bible does entreat us to treat our bodies well, but overeating is an "acceptable" sin, isn't it?

Have you all noticed that the women in our age group are so often on the pudgy side? Since being on WW the last 2 weeks we have eaten out and seen so many 60ish women who are waddling on sore knees and looking so uncomfortable. In fact, one lady who works in our office who is really large was telling me about her blood pressure and diabetes and I just stepped in and told her about WW. When I started WW I had high blood pressure, but now I do not have to take anything and it is just very normal. That 10% message about better health is just so true.

Geri - How are your kids doing? And those two little grandsons of yours? Are you getting them still quite a bit? I had some stunning news on Saturday from the Noble County sheriff's office. You remember last summer when my son was stabbed at a keg party and came so close to dying? This sheriff had said that the DA did not want to prosecute the young man who did the stabbing so I had just put it out of my mind. (Was bummed out because my kid's life wasn't worth the effort.) Anyway, it seems that the judge had issued an arrest warrant and the kid was arrested and put into the Payne County jail and will be arraigned in Noble County today. He implied there would probably be a plea-bargain and no trial. I was just stunned. Had put this out of my mind and now it is back in full force. Brought back the horror of the 3 a.m. phonecall from the hospital, etc. I cannot believe that now I am feeling so sorry for the young man's family. I know he needs to be stopped before he kills somebody. But 7 1/2 months is too long to wait between the act and the punishment, especially because they have know since within 2 hours of the stabbing.

Oh well, glad everybody is doing well. Love everybody's avatars--Trudy, yours is just precious.
Glenda

 Hi gals...more new smilies.
Glenda 71/2 months later..go figure! Now you have to go through it all again.
You are right about our age group and pudgy ladies. It seems inevitable that after Menopause we all gain weight easier. Just about everyone I know (my age) has arthritis problems too.
Slavika..I don't think I have read a Dean Koonitz before either.
Maria .. Too bad you had a rough visit with your sister. I feel sorry for the camels too. Do you ever have Camel Races? Lily..didn't you go to a Camel Race last summer? (or is my memory failing?) :spin:

It is a dreary, cloudy day here. The temp is mild and the snow banks are dwindling, but I sure miss the sun. :( I feel lazy

We had a quiet weekend, my DD and her hubby were over yesterday. They put a program on my PC whereby they can access my PC (when I give the OK) and they will be able to fix any problems I might have. Hmmmm.

Will check back with you gals later, maybe something exciting is happening somewhere and you will tell us about it...............

G'day all,

This is the life, back on line dh to work, the day to myself:)
I am putting together all the photos I took in Hong Kong, make it in a bit of a story as a slide show on PowerPoint and then print them out and, voila I have a record of our trip. Yes I even have a printer with me!!!
Trudy nothing too exciting to report from this end of the world. At last we have sunny skies here in Sydney, first time in the week that we have been here.
DH and I are finding it alittle hard to adjust to living in a big city like Sydney, nothing seems to be easy. Back home in Adelaide, I just jump in my car and go wherever I want to, here with the many freeways, one way roads etc. etc. I go for miles before getting where I want to be.
Enough of whinging, I am sure we will adjust.
DH is going to climb the Sydney Harbour Bridge. They have recently made this in a tourist attraction, and whilst quite pricy to do, it is supposedly very spectacular.
The other 'highlight' of the day is that on Oprah today is the episode about weight loss and Dr. Phil. At the moment I need all the help I can get so I am looking forward to get some inspiration out of the show today.
Have a great day all.
Cheers
Maria

Hi, How come it takes weeks to lose 2 lbs and overnight I put them on? It is not fair. Maria, I see you are a bargain hunter. I went to my first yard sale of the season Saturday. You never know what "treasures" you will find. I like your tulips. Let's you know that spring is almost here. Yesterday was a no coat day. It was gorgeous. I just looked at your pictures. You have a great looking family. I have a friend who also knows everything. It is hard to deal with sometimes. Slavika I like to read Dean Koontz too. Will have to check that one out. Geri your 10 lbs are great. Keep up the good work. Well another exciting day has come to an end - good night all. Peggy

Glenda: I cant believe it took them that long. But at least something is being done now. He does need to be stopped before he shoots someone else. Keep us posted.

Trudy: Your memory isnt failing. I did go to the camel races last year. I love camels! (Long story dont ask)

Maria: Dr Phil is suppose to be good. I missed the shows when he was on here.

Peggy: I take it you didnt find any treasures? Its beautiful here to. Finally! I think sping is here.

Only exciting news I have is a Ordered a new puter yesterday, and it shipped today! OH Boy!!!! Super fast and lots of room for everything. Yippee!! She be zooming soon! :D :smoking:

Hi Everybody  Oh more smilies...I love them.
Well I had the Princess here this afternoon for "lunch". She requested a hot dog bun with lots of mustard....a hot dog wiener cut into small pieces with "SWORDS" stuck in them (my little plastic appetizer sticks) on the plate BESIDE the hot dog bun. I wonder who started that, with that child. LOL
Glenda and Peggy I really have enjoyed ALMOST all of Dean Koontz books. I just looked in the inside cover of my current book and I think he has written almost 40 books. I think I have read all of them but I don't really remember ALL of them. In looking at the titles one that I do remember, is not a very old one, called, "False Memory" and it was really good. Glenda you are right many of his books do have dogs in them. I told my DH once, obviously Koontz has a dog because he describes their behaviour so well, you almost picture the animal. I think he does that with his human characters too. I always feel I really "know" the people
in his books. :)
Peggy this thing with weight, you are certainly right. I too can put on two pounds over the weekend and take 3 weeks to get it off. GRRR.
Maria I'm happy you got some sun today we sure didn't. It was dreary all day long. I saw my little squirrel "Sammy" today, and I noticed he is not rushing around hiding all the peanuts. He seems to come now and eat until he is full then leaves without stuffing his little cheeks full, so maybe spring is coming. My husband told me that it has nothing to do with spring. He said Sammy is so fat now, that he probably can barely fit into his little house, never mind taking more groceries home. :D
Lily a new computer, lucky you. I bet you can hardly wait. :)

Well tomorrow is my WW day and I sure hope I lost a tiny bit of that holiday weight I put on. Well, whatever happens, the Tea Time part of Tuesday always makes me happy and I get to see my friend Trudy .

Night all.

Did any of you gals see Oprah today? It was about the whole body Cat Scan that you can have done. Oprah said she had it. It didn't take long, but then she spent an hour with the Doctor while he went over all the results. He was able to see she had a bit of plaque in her arteries - nothing serious, some degeneration in her lower spine. In general she was in good health. It is preventative medicine. Looking for things that could potentially be dangerous. I think it is a great idea, but I would probably be very nervous waiting to hear if something was wrong. Good to know though.

Everyone have a good day OP tomorrow :)..... be seeing you Slavika. Good night all.

Well I have just listened to Dr. Phil and it does make a lot of sense but I honestly not too sure why I have gradually put on the weight. Perhaps that 'lightbulb' moment will hit me yet:)
After the show I did feel like some afternoon tea but decided to log on here instead.
Peggy yes I am a bargain hunter allright, I often tell dh he would be amazed how much I have saved him over the years :D:D
I seem to be drawn to tables with 50% off, mind you my family laughs at me but they have been very happy recipients of some of the bargains I have purchased!
This is different, just went to check if I had missed replying to anyone and I cannot see all the posts :(
Oh well it will train my mind to try and remember what everyone said!

I'm 54 (gonna be 55 the 26th) ...am about 170 lbs. overweight...immobile due to weight and lymphedema. I have decided now is the time to lose the weight!!! I hope it's okay for me to butt into your wonderful commaderie (yeah, I know...the spelling is probably wrong but the spellcheck didn't know it either hahaha) you all have together.

Thank you for the welcome Slavika...I'll be backkkk :)
Grrrr...you ddn't share your secret on putting .gifs into the post! hahaha You're just flaunting them at me with the waving and smiling.
I love Dean Kootz...I got my son reading his books. It turned a boy who ddn't like to read into a man who picks up a Kootz everytime a new one comes out. Did anyone read "Intensity" by him? GOOOOD book. He's very versatile. By that I mean he doesn't just write scary or UFO stuff.

Slavika: How funny, princess wanted the Hot Dog that way. I can just image who started it. :) Good luck at your WI!

Trudy: No I didnt see Oprah. Sounds interesting. I to would be very nervous to hear the results. But it might be worth looking in to.

Greeneyes: Welcome! Always room for more. Im re-copying what I put in another thread and maybe it will help you get your image under yur name.

To change the Text Underneath your user name. When in the Profile, Click on Edit Profile. Scroll down until you see "Custom User Text" Thats where it says Senior Member. Just erase it and type what you want then Click on the Submit Modifations at the bottom.
This is also where the Signature option is. You can use a smily there or and image but you will have to use the BB code to do it. If you click on the vB code it will give you some instructions.

Peggy: That recipe for the cookies sounds good!

Hi Greeneyez  Welcome to this board, I like your user name...let me guess...you have Green Eyes right?:D Lily is our resident Computer Wiz and so Slavika probably thought any instructions should come from her..
I was trying to think of a User name for Dotti's board, I could have used "Hazeleyez".. never thought of it.
Sounds like I have to get some Dean Koontz books now.. sometimes I have a hard time keeping up with you gals. :spin:
Lily I have a feeling that Slavika has put a lot of funny ideas into her Grandbabies heads, they sure do have a lot of fun over there. LOL
Peggy I will have to try out that recipe. It sure is an easy one. First I will try to figure out the points.
Maria..Nothing like a good bargain to make the day. I like your tulips and the shopping cart was nice too. There is a way to make the gifs smaller so they will fit as an Avatar. Lets ask Lily! :^:

I went to work out this morning, it was the first time in 5 days, and was it ever hard. How can I get so out of shape in 5 days? :?: It will probably take 2 weeks to get back where I was. It is like the weight thing, gain overnight and a month to get it off.

Hope everyone is having a nice day....

 Hi Greeneyez I probably did read "Intensity" but I don't remember anything about it. :dz: I have a friend around my age at the lake and we have spent a lot of summers reading all kinds of novels. The strange thing was, as we got older we would see books in the store, buy them, get ALMOST to the end and then think, "you know I think I already read this." What we do now is we initial the inside front page, put in the date we read it and whether we liked it or not. Problem solved. So...now we still can't remember the story lines of the books we read, BUT we can look in the inside covers and see if we READ it. hee hee. "Intensity"is probably out at the lake so if you could just briefly tell me a little about it then I would remember. :)
Trudy told you that Lily was our expert on computers. The most technical term I am familiar with on the computer is called a, "thingme". I know not much help.
Well, I didn't look at my weigh in card last week to see what damage I caused on my 3 week holiday but today I was 1# down....as Martha Stewart would say, "that's a good thing".
I'll come back later and see how you are all doing. :)

I received this email from Cal/Margot. She is having trouble posting right now. She can read but for some reason cant post. She has emailed 3FC on the problem.

Hello everyone!

I am hopeful my life has slowed down enough to stay caught up with you all.

I watched the Dr. Phil shows a few weeks ago and then pulled out my tapes of his book. It was a good "kick"
It seems everytime I need more motivation something shows up! I had my lightbulb moment a year ago and it
has stuck so far.

I have been working very hard and working hard to stay OP.
My losses are so slow right now. I am once again getting back to regular exercise. I will keep coming back to
it until I do make it a regular thing. "baby steps"

Lily: Skinny cow has showed up in my local Safeway so they should be up your way soon!

I'm interested in the HRT stuff too. I have had minimal symptoms so far and still have my regular monthlies
but expect something will (must!) change soon. After 40+ years of periods I am ready for a change!

I will work on checking in and keeping up this week. No more travel for a while!

and welcome to Greeneyz. I have been where you are. So far I’ve lost 105 and have about 80 to go.

Margot

Good evening all...
Lily: (I don't see a "bold" button here!) hahaha
I went to look where you said but could't see whatever it was you're talking about. But that's okay cause I figured out how to do the "Browse"....

Slavika: The Kootz story was about a serial killer, breaks into a home, kills everyone but the daughter's college room mate who came home with her to visit. The girl hides under a bed, sneaks out of the house and begins to tail the man who is in a motor home. Needless to say, she gets caught and he takes her to his home which is guarded with doberman pinchers. He has a young girl kept prisoner in his basement...which the girl attempts to rescue.

Being a mystery writer myself, I enjoy how he handles intrigue n' suspense.

Trudy: Yup, green eyes here :)

Y'all mentioned Dr. Phil....who is he?

A PS for Lily....how in the world did you lose 105 lbs and would you please share it with me? I have sooo much to lose and part of me says I won't be able to because I'm unable to exercise. Grrr :( I would really like to pick your brain and pull what I can use out and put it in my diary/journal to see and remind me that someone out there succeeded!

G'day all,

Had a great shop today and feel a bit happier!!!!
They had a fantastic book sale so I stocked up. I know what you mean Slavika it is not fair when they change the bookcovers and it is still the same book:D
I also hope to enroll in doing a course in Adobe PhotoShop, will be good to learn it properly and I hope to also enroll in Tai Chi, I really thought it was good when I joined the locals in Hong Kong, some were quite old, in their seventies at a glance and they were so flexible.
Hopefully there are still places available when I enroll tomorrow.
Welcome to Greeneyez, I am sure you will enjoy participating in this group. I am a little more knowledgeable than Slavika , I know what a 'thingamebob' is :D:D, for starters that is a bigger word than 'thingme' :D
I hope my avatar worked this time.
See you tomorrow

Hi all, It is going to be a nice day today. It started out nice yesterday and then in the afternoon the winds and the rain came. I am glad I got part of the yard work done in the morning. I am sooo happy:D - I lost that 2 lbs plus another 2. It must have been water. Now if I can keep it off. That will be the amount of the losses for another few weeks. I am never consistent. I think the mall walking in the evening is helping. My friend has short legs but can she move. Greeneyez I find that drinking a lot of water really helps me lose. Maria sounds like you had some good shopping. I love to buy books. I am like you all - I start a book and then realize that it sounds familiar. I miss my audio tapes since my cassette player broke. Lily did you get your new computer yet? What kind did you get? Margot keep up the good work. I saw somewhere that Skinny Cow is comiing out with peanut butter and chocolate. What more could a person want? I am off to Sam's for a little shopping. TAlk later, Peggy

 GREENEYEZ LOL that "thingme" with the happy face dancing on your post is a "avatar".

Oh by the way, the gal who lost 105# is our friend
Cal/Margot. She was having trouble with her computer so e-mailed "LILY" and Lily posted for her. Lily is doing well too, but I think Margot has inspired all of us. She is like the "energizer bunny", she just keeps going and going and going..........

I better get going. I still have to do my walk on the treadmill. Today is lunch/shopping day with a good friend. I  LOVE Wednesdays.

Greeneyes: It wasnt me who lost the 105. Its Margot/Cal Walker. Hopefully she will be able to post soon. She has done an awesome job losing, and is an inspiration! She is wonder women! ;)

Maria: Glad you got the avatar to work! Photoshop class will be fun. I took it once. Its a great program.

Peggy: The Skinny Cow chocolate is awesome. They have them here but mixed with the Vanilla. So there is 3 of each. Me and DH fight over the last Chocolate one. Sometimes I win! :) No puter yet. It has shipped tho. So i expect it to be here tomorrow. Congrats on your loss! Your doing great!

Slavika: Have fun at your lunch and shopping. Good for you losing to! No toy yet but Im getting the old one ready to hand over to DH. Getting rid of what I dont need anymore so it will be easier to transfer stuff to the new.

I had a different experience a little while ago. I couldn't see all the posts. They just stopped after Slavika's hot dog post, but now they are all back.

I wanted to ask a question. I go over my allotted points on Friday and Saturday and then make up for it during the week. Those are not "banked" points, but more like deficit spending. Is that okay?

Greeneyez - I like your name. I shuda used "Weakeyz" or "Badearz". You are almost a neighbor--I live in Oklahoma. Are we ready for spring or what? So glad you have joined us. This is the place you will get that extra oomph to lose that weight and get more mobile.

Have forgotten where the smilies are. Now they are just so cute, I have to start using them.

Slavika I think you have done a job on The Princess. I wonder who got her to be a hot dog gourmet.

I would also like to add my fist to the fates. So aggravating that I can go to IHOP and have pancakes, syrup and butter and eggs and it takes two weeks before my jeans feel comfortable again. My skinny husband can eat like that each and every week and never change.

This Friday we have our 38th anniversary. We will eat out at my "anniversary" restaurant and I think I will have the peel 'n eat shrimp. They are so good and few points. Our kids want to take us out on Friday, so I will just have to watch it.

Lily - got that computer yet? and Peggy - great weight loss!

 Hi all.
I am having a great day too. After workout this morning, Hubby and I went downtown to meet our DD for lunch at this wonderful Pasta restaurant. We ate, we laughed, it was wonderful. :) Then DH and I went shopping :D... I bought a new spring jacket in bright blue...I am ready for the nice weather.
Glenda.. There is hardly a day when something "strange" on this site or other favorites of mine doesn't happen. I am always using REFRESH. I think the "Deficit Idea" is ok. I do that too sometimes. The smilies are just to the left of the "Your Reply" box. Hope you have a wonderful 38th ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION, CONGRATULATIONS.
Peggy.. Great news on the weight loss. Hope this keeps up for you, gotta keep walking those malls, and working in the garden.
I WANT SKINNY COWS!! All this talk about them is making me drool. That is one drawback to living in Canada, it takes us so long to get this good stuff.
Margot You continue to amaze us. You are so dedicated, for sure you will reach your goal, and maybe before "some of us" do. I keep playing with the same 3 lbs.... up, down, up, down, and now up
Greeneyze.. I clicked on your PROFILE, and you are one very interesting lady. I read the chapters on your book, but couldn't get to see your art work. I will try again.
Maria Shopping always perks me up too. I am sure you will enjoy Tai Chi. You will have to tell me what the Adobe PhotoShop is for...:?:
ALAS Lily .. I have some really cute animations, but they are rather large for the avatar. Tomorrow will be exciting when the new 'puter arrives. I have had mine for 11 months now. Can't believe how much I ended up liking it. As soon as Slavika got hers, she had me over playing Solitare... and she would tell me how much I would like it, etc. I was skeptical, but as usual, she was right.
Slavika I thought I was the only one who would forget if I read a book...

Did anyone else see the movie The Edge? It was on TV last night. Anthony Hopkins and Alex Baldwin were in it. It had me on the edge of my seat for 2 1/2 hrs. That had to be the BIGGEST BEAR I have ever seen. Good movie, but too much blood, I had my hands in front of my eyes quite a bit. LOL

Well, "talk" to you all later....... Bye Bye

Not only can't I keep up with your activities, I can't even keep up with your posts!

Welcome Greeneyez! :) This is a very nice group of ladies (even though they move a little too fast for me to catch up!)

Today is my daughter's 22nd birthday. Her roommates bought her a mountain bike and took her to NYC to see "Le Mis" on Broadway and then for dinner. (Whatever happened to giving Timex watches as gifts? LOL) It occurred to me this morning that it is her first birthday that she is not spending with her family. We won't see her until Monday night when she comes over for her "little family dinner" and gifts. Oh well, I guess I better get used to it.

Tonight we are going to my company's Movie Night. Tickets are $3.00. We are going to see "The Mexican". I am packing my own candy. I have saved 9 points for a package of Goobers (5) and a "Lite" Milky Way (4 points).

Take care,

How do all of you feel about eliminating "the whites" from your eating habits? (rice, sugar, potaoes, pasta) I'm still trying to grasp the WW points. I notice that WW frozen dinners incorporate pasta etc. in their dinners.

I can't see your remarks but what is that chocolate- peanut butter thing y'all were drooling over? And it can be eaten as long as you don't go over your daily points by doing so right?

Good morning Greeneyez Hi there. We started a new Thread yesterday #102. If you like, make a small post there and explain you have a longer post on the old #101. Have a great day, bye now. :)
