Welcome Newfie! And congrats on starting IP - you'll get great results if you commit to it!

I read this forum for a long time, getting hints, strategies and recipes. There is a wealth of information here. If you have a question you can't find the answer to be sure to ask, someone is sure to have an answer. There are a lot of really great people here who are very generous with their knowledge.

Make sure you get all your salt and oil in along with your veggies, packets and protein. Really important, especially when you first start!

Welcome! The plan works if you stick to it, it is tough the first 3-4 days but once you get thru that you will feel great.
My big tip is aways plan ahead for meals. Make sure you have lots of veggies, I cut and wash mine right after I get them home so they are always ready. Good luck!

I agree with everyone else. Follow the plan, don't try to make it into something else. It really does melt the fat away and after the first week you feel great!

Default I am going to sign up this Saturday!

Hi I am new, well I will be new when I sign up for the Ideal Protein Plan this coming Saturday! I will actually start the program on January 3rd when all our holiday traveling and parties will be finished! I will be home and packing for a new move to Oklahoma. I live in remote AZ and I will not be going anywhere until the weekends to do the grocery shopping... I think a perfect time to concentrate on getting into this plan I think! Glad to be here!

Welcome to you as well! Apparently the best time to make or break habits it when your routine is changing, so you chose the perfect time to start IP!

Thanks to all of you for the support, I don't contribute often but think maybe I should get on here more often, it does seem to make it easier! I had a slip up on Thanksgiving and cannot seem to get back on track, completely. I think I need to add an extra packet for a day or two and see if that helps. I have come this far, I don't want to go backwards. Thanks again!

I'm pretty new at IP as well ... and forums all together. I'm into week 4 and getting worried about Christmas coming up ... does anyone have any ideas of how to get through it without cheating?

Welcome Spoole and congrats on your losses so far!

This has been a challenging season for me but I've found that planning is key to staying OP through it. Here's a few thoughts (and it's early and I haven't had enough coffee):

1. For parties, if you can offer to bring something and then make sure it's something you can eat. I always offer to bring a veggie tray and then add a dip I can eat (look for the mockamole recipe, it's really good) along with one other people will like. For family gatherings it can be pretty easy to ask that your veggies be prepped without sauce, etc. or bring your own that you can pop in the microwave. You can usually find plain protein - I've eaten a lot of turkey and fish this year.

2. If it's a restaurant or catered affair, call ahead and ask if they can prepare your food the way you want. I've found no resistance to this as long as you ask in advance. I've used the excuse "the doctor has me on a gluten and dairy free diet" and then just let people assume I have allergies (which is sort of true, certain foods make me break out in fat!).

3. You can always eat ahead of time and keep spare packets with you for emergencies (which I do all the time anyway).

4. When the temptations arise, drink a cup of decaf tea or water - it really does help.

5. Most of all, remember that the season should be about the people, not the food. Make the Christmas season all about connecting with the people and sharing and not the food.

I'm sure others will chime in with more advice, that was just off the top of my head. You can do this - the more you stay on plan the easier it gets, keep using that determination muscle!

Hello to all the newcomers and welcome!
I'd like to invite everyone to join the daily chat where daily ongoing questions about how to manage IP will be seen by the most people and you'll get good answers.

We had a great chat about Thanksgiving and a thread developed for making it through. I think many of the ideas are fitting for Christmas through NYE as well. http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/idea...nksgiving.html
