Good Morning Everyone ! Hope you all had a great weekend. Today I have lots of running around before I leave tomorrow for warm sunny beaches:). I have decided to bring all my IP breakfasts and do the best I can for lunches and diners. As long as I dont have a big gain that is all I can ask for . Well everyone enjoy your day .

An early start to the day. We have been under a winter storm warning for several days, but I see it has been lifted this morning. I'm not sure how many centimeters we received, but Husband had to do a lot of shoveling this weekend.

Today is an exciting day for me. My business partner and I start getting our new store front ready for the opening of our Artisan Market April 29th. We have been researching and planning for this for quite awhile now. We are both very excited!!
Today starts a whirlwind week of contractors and painting and organizing. :carrot:

My official WI is tomorrow but I won't make it into the clinic this week.

Off to work after 10 days of doing IP at home (March break). Back to the routine, and the stresses of normal life...at least now I have you guys and don't need to reach for the donut box in the staff room!! I just know they'll be a 'Welcome Back' treat waiting for us (or should I say them).

I just started wearing Dockers that I have had in the back of the closet since 2004. Since December 10th I have gone down from a 44 to a 38 inch waist.I kept them hoping for a dream and now I've found it. Two more weeks and I'll have to get rid of every pair of pants and jeans in my closet. I plan on hitting the Goodwill's for a few new ones. I don't want to got and buy new when they will be useless in a month or so.

Allergies are kicking butt today. :(

I made the "Roasted Zucchini & Basil Rosettes" from the recipes thread. OMG were they delicious. I ate them all up in the same day. I will be taking this dish to my family reunion to prove to people that I can cook. :D

Good morning everyone
So I have a sinus infection... which is such a pain! I am continually lightheaded and woozy - I even had to go to bed at 930 last night as I had a fever and thought I was going to die! I didnt get my before bed shake in.. I had a really hard time getting my supper down!
So my question is this... if I can focus on getting my water and shakes down today... how bad will it be if I dont eat my veggies today? At this moment I cant even fathom eating veggies or meat ....but I dont want to kick myself out of the progress I have had so far this week (even with being sick and all the walking we did on our weekend away!)
Thoughts....suggestions?

That's kind of funny as I posted earlier this morning in the Men's Thread about getting in to a pair of Dockers I hadn't worn in 5 or 6 years. They buttoned but not sure I'm ready to sit in them for a whole day. Maybe next week.

Just concentrate on getting better, and don't worry so much if you can't get all your food in.

Also if you are on antibiotics, make sure you read the insert to see if there are any interactions with the IP suplements. I think you are not supposed to take the cal-mag or potassium (can't remember which) while you are on anibiotics because it interferes with it.

DRegan enjoy your quiet morning! I love having the house to myself and thankfully my DH works shifts so I get to enjoy it more often then not. He starts afternoons today and my stepdaughter is with her Mom till Thursday so I get a few evenings to myself this week Yippeee!! :D

heritagesoftail enjoy the sun and beach!! I leave on April 22nd for a week in Jamaica and I'm already counting down the days (35 sleeps to be exact :^:). Since I'll be phasing off over the next couple of weeks I will be in maintenance then but I plan to eat as healthy as possible.

Donna Gel, congrats on your new store! Very exciting!!

Newday just have an OP snack ready so you won't be tempted!

A1texan that's awesome about the 'new' pants!! I have made the mistake of buying new pants when mine stopped fitting so now I have only a couple that will fit and others that I'm trying to shrink in the dryer. I'm now holding off buying any more but it's tough....I worked hard and I want to show off how far I've come but it's such a waste of money.

DannaA I'm sorry you're sick! I agree focus on getting better. I hope you feel better soon!

Just one of those mornings, I woke up way too early, am headachy and crampy guessing its related to TOM, sort of funny it seems like just last week I was saying I haven't had one of those in three years because of my choice in BC. I haven't lost any weight this week but obviously my body is busy doing stuff!!

Have a great day guys, but I think I am snuggling back in bed for a little bit.

It is hard being sick and sticking to a program but I believe the food nutrients help your body heal so don't starve it by skipping food. Try veggies purees or putting spinach in your shakes to try to get the veggies in. Purees in the soup work well and hot food might be more comforting. While sick, I usually skip the 8 oz protein and replace it with 2 non-restricted packets. It feels easier to get in and less work. An omelette or tofu is also lighter protein for me that I can sometimes manage.

Good luck and hope you feel better soon.

:welcome3: Keep in mind that the first week can be very trying to say the least. You should also experience the largest weight loss but stay true to the program and it does work. Follow the Alternatives thread for what works with IP. Good luck and welcome aboard :)

NSV this weekend, DH had a bunch of his buddies over and I had to feed them so I ordered pizza for them...this was the first time I was really tempted and bummed that I couldn't partake but I resisted!

Overall, this weekend was tough. We are replacing the floor in the living room/kitchen so I have been working on pulling up the old carpet/floor and tons of staples...with the extra exercise I should be eating more but I just couldn't find anything that was appealing to me. I stayed OP but I gotta say that this weekend was the first time that I felt unsatisfied with my options.

One month from today I will be in my Happy Place ....a.k.a DISNEY WORLD!:
Can't wait for the warmer weather.......really getting sick of all this WHITE STUFF!! Grrr!

A few sporadic questions.....

I purchased Coconut oil and am using it with the "alternative" Sweet Roll mix recipe to make cookies. This coconut oil is solid, so I micro it first and then add it to the mixture. Just curious, does anyone use liquid coconut oil and if so where did you get it ( PS: I use refined as I dislike coconut flavor). Thx!

Specifically regarding Alternatives guidelines and sugar content.... How do I know when a pdct has too much sugar? I received a sample bar in my Nashua Nutrition order.....
Proti-Thin Protein Bar - Chocolate Decadence . All the numbers look good, but I'm kinda concerned with the sugar. Hubby ate it last night before I could figure out what it was and if it was ok. He counted it as a Restricted no question, but I don't want to order some if they're not OP.......

Finally, has anyone made the IP ice cream using a RTD? I just don't like the taste of the packets. I made it over the weekend, it was good, but if it tasted like the RTD's I think it would be much better (to me). ;)

Hope you all have a Magical Monday!!!;)

Good morning everyone!

Hope everyone has a wonderful 100% OP week!

I weighed in this last Saturday and I was so happy to see that I lost 3.8 lbs which puts me 10.2 lbs away from being in ONDERLAND and 5 lbs away from reaching my mini goal of losing 20% of my starting weight!!!

And...look at my bicycle chick...she's getting close to the 1/2 way mark. I'm thrilled. Just love the Ideal Protein protocol and so glad that I also started using alternatives. I was really nervous at first about it, but of course with all the support around here, it made the transition less scarey.

Thank you!

Has anyone heard anything about the lemon soy puffs being discontinued? I have recently started to really like these and went to get more at my clinic only to find shelf empty. They said they could not order them in and thought they might be getting discontinued or could be changing up the product???? Anyway just wondering if anyone knows anything. @Hebert White- good Luck! =)

We cooked out steaks last night-- since I knew I was only allowed 5 oz (having eaten 3 oz tuna earlier..) I had my hubby go and buy me the MOST expensive tenderloin cut they had-- and he didn't mind because the rest of the family is fine with those little pre-made tenderloins with baked potatoes & butter.. it was totally worth the splurge and so yummy!! Especially since it was only a little bit, I thought why not go first class! Love it when a really yummy dinner is completely on plan! ( had with a side of roasted rutabagas and WF BBQ sauce!)

Tomorrow makes two weeks that I will be on IP diet. Yesterday I took a cheat day and had shrimp, a couple of beers and some chips. I started back today and was concerned that I would have to go through the withdraws for carbs again but it's been fine. Now just hoping that it didn't mess up the weight loss. Anyone take a cheat day?

Nope. Too expensive for me to be on this 1 day or 1 dollar longer than I have to be. Also I can't think of anything that will taste as good as the feeling of stepping on the scale the day I reach my goal weight for the 1st time in my adult life.

Good afternoon all! Lazy morning here but was able to get some laundry done. About to leave to take the dog to the vet, just the annual visit, why must vets be so expensive? Feel like I never make it out under $100. Had the worst TOM pains last night that kept me awake most of the night, very strange, I feel like TOM is all or nothing on this diet.

Hope everyone is having a great OP day!

I did my whole year without a cheat day. It wasn't worth it to me. While you may not have another withdrawal period now, you have still lost momentum on your weight, and time that your body will need to recover. IP is not designed to be a periodic cheat day program.

The weight loss journey for me was also to redefine my relationship with food and to learn other strategies for coping with stress, having celebrations, etc. Maintaining my weight loss will be a struggle for the rest of my life so these lessons were invaluable in making me stronger and able to cope with whatever life throws my way.

Smooth Move tea-can be found at any Whole Foods or natural grocery area of stores.

I have the original, peppermint and chocolate teas-they are all good in my opinion. Make sure you steep them for 15 minutes before drinking. It should do the trick. Also, try upping your plain water intake.

Sometimes a bowl of spinach works (or you can add it to a coffee/IP pudding or drink smoothie).

If you are off coffee now, sometimes a shot of espresso followed by lots of plain water can work.

Good luck; I know how miserable it can be!

Never have, never will. Too much at stake, for me anyway. I made this committment to myself and nothing will stop me. No offense, but someone cheating after only 2 weeks would make me question their motivation.

I started back today and was concerned that I would have to go through the withdraws for carbs again but it's been fine. Now just hoping that it didn't mess up the weight loss. Anyone take a cheat day?

Around the time I started I had a dinner off plan. I made selective choices and only ate a few things that were considered off plan. Afterwards, I found that day three was tough. Eating off plan will set you back, you might not feel great, but as long as your supervising doctor is okay with it, this is your choice. I got right back on program and have taken days here and there off and have had no long term negative effects on my numbers.

I would tell you that the closer you get to goal, the slower your weight loss will be, so if you go off plan, the impact might be more drastic. I had two off plan days this last month (plus a bad back injury that resulted in a lot of inflamation) and my results slowed and I even gained a bit (I think this was definitely contributed to by my back injury). But I am comfortable with my choices.

I'm sure some would say I don't sound very committed. But I've lost 55 pounds to date and am well below the weight I was when I started graduate school--which was a huge goal of mine. I am a capable, committed woman. When I make a choice to eat off plan, I do so with full knowleges of the implications. I don't need anyone else's validation or condemnation on that front.

Also, shrimp in and of itself is not off-plan. Only if you put things on it like butter and such :).

Good luck!

(

That's great!! Congrats!!

So have you ever sat in your car ate a whole cucumber? Got stuck yeasterday with groceries in the car, lots of non op stuff plus uncooked meat and veggies. Finally just took a cucumber and sat their eating it ( and reading a magazine). It got me through! Although I did get a funny look when triple A guy came to change my tire!

Love it!! Where there's a will, there's a way, huh? :cp:

My daughter just spit out a cream egg into my hand, she doesn't like them. Ohhh I love those. Smelled it and chucked it in the garbage. What a waste.

Help!! first day back to work...as I've said, I teach little ones, very physical, always at "slow jog" between one class and another. I even tried to sit on the rug with them to lessen the energy burn, regardless, rough, way too hungry all day...
shake at 7am, first break is 11am...had snap peas/2 zuchinni muffins (made withIP oatmeal ) and IP soup...took 45 min for me to stop shaking I was so hungry!!! Then at 1pm, my next break, I had 2 other muffins, rest of peas = 2cups altogether and my jello...still starving!!! I had about 4 cups of water and 2 herbal teas. By the time I picked up my kids at 3:30, I was devouring an IP bar. For supper??? 8oz of ham and a big salad. I had better be full cause I feel like a gluton today.
So, what did I do wrong: altogether, 4 IP packs

Yup! Done that with a whole cucumber, and once with a whole bell pepper. You do what you gotta do! :)

RE: the Chocolate Decadence bars - remember that there is sugar in some IP products too - it's just that our sugar intake is HIGHLY controlled when on Phase 1. As long as you stay within the nutritional guidelines of IP products you're fine. That bar is one of my favorite Restricteds :)

Oh THANK YOU Scorbett!! Hubby was thrilled when I told him the Decadence is a "go"! And I can't wait to try the ice cream with a RTD!! :carrot:

Sounds like you need to be drinking more water. 4C and 2 teas during the most active part of your day is nowhere near enough. Dehydration can make you think you're hungry.

Also, snap peas are not allowed on PI. You can have snow peas as an occasional veggie (2x/week).

felt the same way today as back to work. Quickly realized that I only drank the minimum of water compared to last week when I drank all day and was not hungry the entire week. worried about tomorrow while in airports all day.

We must find our groove back while trying to figure it out with washroom breaks. We have this. just a little hiccup. no worries. Have a great week back.

I do chicken soup with veggies like bok choy, celery, mushrooms, leeks.
It goes down much easier than other things and if I split it up through the day I get my 8 oz meat AND 4 c veggies.
I also tend to drink simple drinks like orange drink & lemonade

Last summer I had my coach check on snap peas and was told they were okay as an occasional veg along with the snow peas. This came directly from IP.

Hello all. I had a rough weekend. We had to take my daughter to see a specialist ( nothing major) and stayed at cousins place for the weekend. I took my IP food but they live on a farm and after trying my shake couldn't get it down. I did stay OP minus my drinks and in future will plan on taking water. If we didn't have the storm Saturday and Sunday I would have travelled into town but the gravel roads were not drive able. I drank extra water today and am really wary of what I'm eating this week because of this downfall. We haven't been to the farm in 2 years and know now that next time I need to plan better. Couldn't even drink their coffee!!

Hi everyone. I was wondering if it would be ok for me to do some ab work outs while in P1? As long as I don't raise my heart rate of course. My stomach is the worst area, so anything to hurry it along seems beneficial to me!

I also enjoy yoga and zumba, are they permitted?

Thanks!
Sam

Exercise will not hurry things along. The trade off if you choose to exercise is going to be slower losses. The program is designed to work without exercise.

If you did not exercise regularly prior to IP, you should really avoid anything that would raise your heart rate too high (including zumba). But if you were a regular exerciser before IP, your body can probably handle the activity level. Many people exercise for the love of how it makes them feel, and are OK with the slower losses. If you do choose to exercise, you have to make sure you add an extra packet right after you finish, to replace the calories you burned and give your muscles fuel for recovery.

Thanks scorbett! You are such a wealth of knowledge and I appreciate it.

Another question... I'm not trying to be negative here, but is it unrealistic what the website says as far as losses being 3-7 pounds per week? I think I read it's supposed to be 3-5 for women. In reading the blog I really haven't seen anyone that has had 3 pound losses consistently... Just wondering what to expect as I get farther in. Thanks again.

IP has actually removed that marketing from most of their material. Realistic expectation should be about 2-3lbs per week. Remember also that is an AVERAGE - some higher weeks, some lower weeks. I'm sure you've seen it here many times, but weight loss isn't linear (not a straight constant drop) AND it's not just measured on the scale. Sometimes inches are lost but no pounds, sometimes pounds but no inches. It all adds up in the end!

No cheat days. It will knock you out of ketosis, and for me I am miserable when I am not in ketosis. Not worth it.

So true. This is not an ordinary diet. It is so hard to get back to ketosis! That is what I am going though now, since I am rebooting to lose about 10 pounds. It is nit with it to cheat. Stay 100%:hug::p

not really a waste if you consider it would have gone into your body. Better that it goes into the garbage....and not to make your body a garbage can:hug::hug::hug:
