I'm 19years old I'm a girl I have an hourglass shape but i am 240lbs growing up i was always skinny & then i moved & started gaining weight, I want to be 125lbs BUT everyone keeps saying i won't look right /: what do you guys think ?? i want to lose everything in 6months if not by next November
At this point I would say it just doesn't matter. You will know when your body feels right. Yes, you should have a target weight but you should focus on a fit and healthy body rather than weight itself. You might find yourself feeling great and sexy at 140 or you might have the need to go lower .
So if this is your first time losing weight it can be very tempting to do it biggest loser style-eating very little, working out for hours everyday. The thing is though that's not very sustainable.
Aim for 2lbs a week which is -7000cal which breaks down to:cut out 500 cal from your diet & burn 500 daily.
Good luck!

At 5'9" a healthy weight for you is more like 145-150 lbs, depending on how much muscle you carry and stuff. I like this site for getting an idea of what x weight looks like at your height: http://www.mybodygallery.com/index.html While it is possible to maintain 125 & 5'9", it is model skinny and probably requires some pretty intensive arguably eating disordered kind of lifestyle. There are people who can be that weight and healthy, but it is likely that they are not people who have a tendency to be overweight. It seems like an unrealistic goal to me. I suggest you focus on getting your weight down to the point that you have a 'normal' bmi, then re-evaluate how you'd like your body to be different from there. You might find that you want to be in better shape, for instance, which might mean being a bit heavier with muscle weight but ultimately slimmer and healthier looking.
Aim for a healthy body weight first, optimistically small numbers after that (if at all). For your height and frame, I'd say 160 is a MUCH better target to initially aim for, you're quite tall! You may be pleasantly surprised at how small your clothing size will be with activity and fat loss down to that weight.
125 is a better goal weight for a 5'2-5'5" young woman, unless your frame is extremely delicate and build is light, too!
I'm not going to vote simply because you have to wait and see how your body feels and looks as you lose weight. Aiming to be underweight is maybe not super great but it's none of my business because I don't know how your body would be at that weight. Whether it is a realistic goal or not, idk.
I think it is hard to tell, everyone is different and you won't know until you get closer to that weight.
I get for taller women we are prob not going to see a smaller number. So we get a comfortable right weight for us and the number itself might seem too high. But it is good to remember that it isn't about the number, but how we look and feel!
For myself I decided to set a goal of 165lbs. That is on the high end still. But once I hit it then I can step back and rethink how I look and feel and see where I want to go from there.
I will probably drop down to a goal of 140-130 or perhaps less who knows. But I don't want to set myself for a dream number that might end up crushing my spirit or progress when I later realize I can't be there or that it isn't right for me. I would rather not have to up the number and risk even for a moment feeling sad about how much I have already done!
What any of us think your weight should be is immaterial. Don't get caught up in the "six months" or "125" pounds. Lose five pounds. Then another five, and another. As you get healthier and fitter, you'll be better able to see what's realistic for your body. Weight is just one tool to measure ourselves - strength, fitness, etc. are valuable as well.
You are borrowing problems. What matters is that right now, you weigh 240 and need to lose weight. That is your problem. What you will look like at 125 or whether you should even go that low is next year's problem; deal with it then. Give yourself a reasonable goal, a reasonable time frame and a reasonable food and exercise plan and don't worry about the pie in the sky stuff.
I think you should evaluate your goals as far as time frame, I started at 247 and I've been on plan for 7 months and I'm in the 180s your body will lose what it wants to despite best efforts you know it's a long hard road don't be disappointed that you don't get there right in 6 months
i want to lose some of my boobs & just tone my butt my tummy needs to go ! if im 140 something but have a flat tummy then i'll be okay, i just HATE going shopping with my friends or staying the night somewhere cause i'm bigger then them. & i just want to look my size cause people buy me cloths that dont fit me or if they do they are tight you know?
The good news is you can easily lose body fat. The bad news is that you can't control where you lose it from.
Generally speaking - how you look now will be how you look as you lose weight, only smaller. For example if your arms are a "problem area" then they will continue to be.
This isn't always the case and some people (usually women not men) experience a redistribution of their body fat.
