I'm in! Still in holding pattern this cycle, waiting on a pregnancy test result. If no babies are forthcoming, I'm going to be losing more weight. Otherwise, I'll continue maintaining with clean eating (Atkins Induction/Perfect Health Diet hybrid) and up my carbs a smidge for pregnancy. I kind of detest not knowing one way or the other, but that's just the control freak in me who likes to make plans.

A couple of fun things happening in June that will take me out of town. I'll be spending the night in a hotel out past Sacramento before we go white water rafting and I'll be on a boat in the Channel Islands for 3 days scuba diving. I should be fine on the rafting trip, but the diving trip will be full of great food and the diving will make me hungry and craving hot chocolate! I'll have to bring some diet mix on the boat with me...

I'm in! Hmmm, for June I will be celebrating a few birthdays and sending my sister cousin (we are cousins but grew up sharing a room while my dad was deployed in the navy so we act more like sisters) to San Diego where her husband is being stationed. I don't foresee any excuses for getting off plan! Excited to bring in July lighter and more fit!

Hi folks, I'll come back in this month (took a bit of a break from 3FC, but not from my plan).

Here's the deal for me and this summer: I want to make the last push at active weight loss, get down below 155 or so, and see if 155 my upper limit maintenance number.

<---- My stats over there say 155, as I usually put my "current low" there. But it's a little bit of a lie - 155 was my low right after I got back from India, which was 3 months ago now, and was I think a bit of travel dehydration. My real current low is probably more like 158, and I'm up a bit from that right now.

So, I'm in for June, hoping to get back into the 150s for real - and for good. See you folks around!

Hey everyone! I can't wait for June to start...I have plans for big losses this month with the help of my season's pass to Canada's Wonderland, our biggest amusement park. I always get lots of walking in there, and it is possible to eat decently there (or bring a picnic). Weekends are busier now too with gardening, Cam's baseball and just general restlessness. I'm going to convert my treadmill back into an exercise tool and retire it from laundry rack duty!

Welcome back Rennie and Carter and to all those who hang in on this thread in a less participative way..we still know you're out there and you're welcome to jump into the chatting at any time.

Okay, I'm starting the month at 143. I'm obviously not going to get to 140 by my birthday on the 9th but I should be able to get there by the end of the month, if I make the effort.

Here's wishing everyone a great month!

06-01-2012, 09:53 AM
Down .8 from yesterday.

I'm feeling very in control lately. Last night I bought groceries for the next two weeks after work. When I got home I didn't feel like cooking...that usually means a binge is on its way. Nope! I'm proud to say that, though o didn't eat what I planned, I did eat within calories! Worked out this morning, now ready for a nap!

06-01-2012, 09:59 AM
 everybody..

Feel Totally bloated this morning. using my last WI(on Tuesday) of 151.4 as the starting weight for June.

Have A great Month everyone :grouphug:

Great job on the pizza and cake Rennie :bravo: You're handling your diabetes too awesome :high: yeah,sometimes.. something has to happen in order to get our attention..that little voice inside will says.. "what are you doing to your health?".. The thing with me was recognizing it,doing something about it before it caused serious long term problems.

Like now..I know artificial sweeteners don't agree with my system. As much as i like splendor, equal(stuff that have fructose.sucrose in them, anything w/MSG).i just can't eat it(at least not too much ;)).So i have a choice, either i ween myself away from that stuff..stop having headaches, being dizzy cause that's what they come from or continue to use them.I haven't had any in a week(found some all natural alternatives) and I've been feeling much better.:)

06-01-2012, 10:44 AM
A combination of TOM bloat and not the healthiest dinner out yesterday has brought me up 3lbs to 195.1. Ugh. TOM needs to come and go already, because it's seriously zapping the energy right out of me and I get home from work drained. Actually, this just sparked a thought that I really should get my thyroid, iron and b12 levels checked - they could be culprits to my increasing fatigue.

Hope everyone has a Happy Friday!

06-01-2012, 11:01 AM
Hi everyone!

I'm still at 178.6 today. Hope everyone has a fun and on plan weekend! :hat:

06-01-2012, 11:19 AM
Hi folks. Thanks for the warm welcome back. I weighed in at 162 this morning - a little up from where I want to be, but there it is. I had a good workout this morning and now I need to have a very productive day at work (need to have a lot of those over the next 6 weeks!). The real challenge will be staying on plan through the weekend and next week when my partner is away ...

06-01-2012, 04:43 PM
TOM has arrived so I'm going to miss some weigh-ins but last week I was 305.8! I'm slowly moving to the 290's.

First day :) Weight was down 1.8 lbs. It's going to be interesting watching how it changes from day to day. I'm interested in seeing how it fluctuates.

ChouKoe - You'll be there soon! Very exciting, huh? :) That's my first goal, 290s.

06-01-2012, 07:18 PM
I'd like to join this challenge :). I have been maintaining (not purposely) around 155 give or take 3 pounds in either directions. I would really like to get back to actively losing weight. This month I'd like to be down about 6 lbs. I try to work out 5 days a week and keep a calorie range of 1500-1800.

Hi Girls,

This is a brief post, but I'm in again. May was bust for me - only lost 1.5 total! Battled the flu, TOM, my birthday and a ton of stress all in the last 2 weeks, and it did me in....almost.

June 1 - 136

QT, Texan - I saw both of your before and after pics...Wow! You guys are doing awesome and it shows!

Diana- I haven't had a chance to read all of your posts, but did I see your mom's last result was cancer free?! You are both still in my thoughts and prayers :)

Everyone - Have a great weekend!

06-02-2012, 09:53 AM
Good Morning, Everyone!

I have to tell you about something special that happened last night. You know about the current complication that my Mom is going through and is in the hospital. My Mom has 2 dogs that her friend has been helping care for, since all of this has happened this week. I didn't think my Mom would be able to care for them properly when she gets out of the hospital. She would still be relying on this friend to walk them, etc. I love dogs and want another one in the future, but I just don't have the time right now because of my Mom's situation. Anyways, my Mom agreed that it was time to find them a new home. Our local SPCA shelters are packed and I didn't want to risk them being put down. I had already contacted everyone that I knew and sent the word out about them. Nothing came of it. I had never placed an ad on craiglist before and was terrified to do it. I decided to place an ad on Thursday offering these dogs free to a good home. Several people contacted me on Thursday about the younger dog. The older dog (7 y/o) is the real sweetheart. The problem was that I didn't have pictures and the dogs are literally an hour drive (each way) away. She decided that she wanted the younger dog, unseen. I knew something needed to be done this weekend, so yesterday I left work early to get both of the dogs. I was secretly hoping that they would see the older dog and fall in love with her. I was also so worried about them not going to a good home. We planned on a meeting place (Walmart). My DH was there, too. Their whole family showed up up, too. When I met them, I knew they were a good family. She hesitantly chose to take both dogs. I was relieved, but I didn't want them to be a burden or cause them any problems. (I tend to worry about everyone and don't want to cause others any problems) I told her that if the older dog wasn't a good fit to try to find a good home and I totally understood. After we left, I started worrying that I would get an email stating that they hated the dogs and didn't want them. :( This morning when I woke up I had an email from her stating that they loved both of the dogs, especially the older one. She said that the older dog is very special. I sent her an email back thanking her for the email and that it meant more to me than she even realized. I told her that I have really worried about being a burden to her, but I felt that the dogs went to a very good home. I told her that she was a blessing for our family. I am a very happy person this morning.

I wanted to share what happened. Good things happen every day. Sometimes good things are intermingled with the not so necessarily good things. It's our place to find the good.

well, I think TOM is over, and I'm down 2 lbs from yesterday. Not sure why this happened since I ate lots of bad things yesterday at the island on the field trip, but we did get a ton of exercise. I hope it doesn't catch up to me tomorrow, on my Biggest Loser weigh in day, that would be a real bummer. I start my new job this afternoon so I got a bunch to do today. I'm hoping the new activity in my life will help promote a nice loss this month, 180's here I come, :)
Diana what a special wonderful story! so happy for you and thx for sharing the good with us:D
kifli thx! I hope June is a good month for us all!
Rennie, Angie, Kukkie, Ona, Steph, Texan luv you ladies!

I wanted to share something else. I read a post on here that I can totally relate to. When I have an off plan day, weekend, etc, I still weigh myself. There have been times that I was out of town for a day or two but I didn't weigh. If I am going away for a longer period of time, I take my scale. Some people have asked about why do I weigh myself and see the higher numbers when I get right back on plan. There's no sense in upsetting myself with the higher numbers. This post kinda explains why. http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/4354443-post48.html I can really relate to what Lori had to say. I have been down this road for a total of 3 times. The weight loss has added up to 360+ pounds. I can totally manipulate anything and everything when it comes to my weight and eating. There is no sense in allowing myself to do this, when I am aware of my thought patterns. It's better to face the music immediately and deal with it. I'm not sure if anyone else sees themselves in me or Lori's post. If so, I hope it can help you in some way.

06-02-2012, 01:30 PM
I'm starting to wonder if I need a new scale. It was going between 318 - 322 this morning, but it wasn't settling anywhere, just kept bouncing around. Every time I stepped on, there was a different number. It's been doing this for a while, but some days, like yesterday, it'll give me a solid number over and over. Ended up using the Wii to weigh in, and it said I was down 0.4 pounds. I'll take it!

Diana, that is a very lovely story. I'm happy to hear that both dogs were able to go to the same home. I heard it's hard to find homes for older dogs, so that's great! They need love just as much, if not more.
As for Lori's post, it makes a lot of sense, and I guess I can relate to it. I do tend to give up more easily when I start avoiding the scale.

Domlacha, good luck!

qtapostolic, thanks for the welcome! Hopefully your weigh in tomorrow is a decent one! Good luck on the new job :)

06-02-2012, 02:20 PM
I'm up .2 from 5/31 no change from yesterday. fbs 118 ...yay :carrot:

Thanks Ona, Glad to know I can come on the thread and talk to you and you can help me with this (in addition to weight loss tips) :D I've had experience with gestational diabetes and insulin in the past. I guess actually knowing that this time it won't go away and I have to always be on my toes will may me do what needs to be done. :) or should I say this early on I HOPE ;)

Kukkie yes please do get that checked. hope you regain your energy soon :)

Angela have a great weekend :)

carter weekends use to be my issue now it's just not being at home no matter what day it is. I do so much better as long as I am home. :) Hope you have an OP weekend :)

ChoeKou you'll see that new decade before you know it. Keep up the good work :)

Hi kwigg

t0rn good job on the 1.8 down yesterday :high: Good job on the .4 down today :) Maybe you need new batteries, just a thought, cheaper than a new scale :)

Hi Domlacha :welcome: to the thread

Hi Amanda

kifli hope June proves to be a great month for us ALL :)

Diana what a great story and it couldn't have happened that way to a better person. Thanks for sharing :) Good job on the .8 down today :) I like Lori's story. It's great when we can admit all that we do and have learned, the victory becomes OURS to claim. But me even when I screw up I step on that scale anyway and shake my head at myself. I own up to it, though I don't always correct the issue immediately :D

Kelly don't know if you saw my post on the May thread to you but you look great and have done wonderfully. Keep up the great work :) Good job on the 2lbs down :high:

Have a great day Everyone :)

06-02-2012, 02:37 PM
I'm down .6 today which is pretty remarkable after a nice steak dinner out last night. I even woke up feeling like I could barely move my fingers because they were puffy, so maybe I've got some water weight to shed still. Today I'm celebrating driving by the burger joint when I got it into my head that there could be nothing better for lunch. I fought it and came home to eat the leftovers we'd planned to have instead.

Diana -- That is a great story; I'm so happy it worked out that way for you :) Yes, I can definitely relate to that post and to what you are saying. I regained after our first cruise last fall and I've had a hard time getting back on track since. At least when we went to Disney this time I called a hard stop to the off plan eating and made myself go right back to normal food the next day so I haven't lost much since then, but I didn't gain either. *whew* I have read that people who are the most successful in keeping off weight loss share certain habits, two of which are eating breakfast every day and weighing every day; those are two things that don't take much effort for me.

Tavvy -- Congratulations on avoiding a binge, that's a huge accomplishment sometimes!

Ona --

Carter -- Is that challenge for you that your partner is the one who cooks most often, or just missing that accountability of having someone there, or just eating out of boredom?

Choukoe -- Good job! Just a few pounds to go to get to Two-topia :) :carrot:

Torn -- 1.8 is awesome...way to go! With the fluctuations you saw today I would guess that either the scale is unbalanced or you may need new batteries.

Domlacha :welcome:

Kifli

Kelly -- Congratulations on the 2lbs!

Rennie

06-02-2012, 02:47 PM
Angie good for you on passing the burger joint. Funny now I can eat a lean burger no problem just no bread :) But I am determined to find a bread that I can eat that won't cause ridiculous spikes :)

06-02-2012, 02:54 PM
Hello all! I weighed in at 168 today. Was hoping for 167 but will hope for that again on Sunday! Will complete Turbo Fire 45EZ soon.

Diana, good for you for taking great care of your mom's dogs. I'm sure that your mom and especially the dogs are very grateful!!

Take care all and keep up the good work. Remember to always be kind to yourself, too. :cheer:

06-02-2012, 03:32 PM
Diana - thanks for calling attention to Lori's post. I completely agree with it - it's best to look at the scale and be honest with yourself about what's happening before it becomes a large regain. That is a big part of why I am a daily weigher!

Angie - I am the cook, and I've planned to do my usual amount of cooking this weekend so I have good healthy on-plan food right on hand while my partner is gone. It's more of an accountability thing - not that my partner is ever the food police, but rather the feeling of embarrassment that stops me from being an utter pig when she is gone. I used to call the times when she was away "ice cream for dinner" times - times when I could just let it all hang out and eat whatever crazy stuff I wanted without anybody knowing about it. Nowadays I have to work hard not to give into the temptation to do that!

At any rate, good to see everyone feeling strong this weekend. I weighed in at 160 today, which is good. Looking forward to getting back into the 150s soon ...

06-02-2012, 04:53 PM

02. 241.6

06-02-2012, 05:52 PM
Diana, I'm so glad you found a good home for your mom's dogs and that they got to stay together.

And I'm with you on Lori's post and daily weighing. I've gotten used to the daily fluctuations so the blips don't freak me out anymore, and I know that, for me, not weighing myself is pure avoidance behavior. I weigh myself every day, even when I expect bad results. For me, not doing that would be a huge mistake.

carter, belated welcome back. I live alone, so there have been way too many "ice cream for dinner" nights. In fact, I still have those, it's just that now the ice cream is a Weight Watchers bar. Good luck with your well-planned home alone week.

Angie, your talk of peonies reminded me that mine haven't bloomed! They all look big and healthy but I see not one bud. Might I have cut them back too much last year? Have I ruined them?

Rennie, congrats on your blood sugar results. What is Chelle up to these days?

Happy Saturday to everyone!

06-02-2012, 08:54 PM
Torn-I'm very excited, I'm so close!! When my scale starts acting crazy I reset the batteries or get a new ones. Welcome!!!

Domlacha- Hi!

Qt- Good luck on your new job. Congrats on your loss

Diana- What a sweet story :) Yes, when I binged I don't check the scale. Now I do and my binges are not happening as often. The truth hurts for me

Angie- great dedication burgers are so hard to resist for me

Hi Rennie :D I'm ready to get out of the 300's

06-02-2012, 10:54 PM

Good morning! I ate breakfast before I remembered that I hadn't weighed in, so it will have to wait until tomorrow. We're invited to visit friends for dinner, and I just learned we're having lasagna, so it will be a 0 carb day for me earlier and I'll have to get in some extra exercise. I think I'll walk to get groceries and just bring Cameron's wagon along for bringing them home.

Rennie -- Do you have a low carb grocer in your area? Here is a link (http://www.thelowcarbgrocery.com/)to the Canadian one, I'm sure there must be an American one, but even if not, you can google some of the products to see where to buy them in your area. This store exists mainly for diabetics...they sell lots of 0 calories/0 sugar salad dressings and stuff too.

TurboLaura -- Good job on your 168 :)

Carter -- Yes, I can relate to that. I think it's a good thing that now I have a kid, I'm seldom actually alone or I could have more 'uninhibited eating' than I need. Great job on preparing some on plan food in advance.

Steph -- My peonies were cut right off last year...my mother is a butcher when it comes to the plants...and they came back okay. Maybe yours are taking a year off from blooming??? I've heard that some plants do that, but I've never heard it about peonies. My roses are blooming now too, a few buds opened up yesterday. We have had 2-3 gloomy days of rain now, so with a little sunshine again I think I'll have full blooms. (I can't wait!).

Diana -- Thanks :) Yes, now I'm thankful for not gaining when I'm not losing as so many times in the past I gained back all the weight I lost. I've learned from this site, and people like you, that it might take a long time, and it might take a few tries, so I'll just keep at it. Congratulations on your .8 today.

06-03-2012, 10:19 AM
Good morning everybody. :coffee:

Weigh in back up at 162 this morning, boingy boingy. Going back into hardcore weight loss mode is reminding me that I need to conjure up some patience.

I'll check in again later after more folks have woken up. ;)

06-03-2012, 10:29 AM
Good morning ladies,
I just now realized that there was actual chatting going on in this thread and not just posting weight, lol.

I am down .4lbs from yesterday to 255.6 this morning.. I'm really surprised to see a drop this morning since we had lunch at a chinese buffet yesterday.
Things are going good so far.. I am already feeling a little better since I started working out again. My gym offers a free weightloss program where a personal trainer will set up an exercise routine for you and set some goals. I am going to schedule myself an appointment for this week when I go for my workout this afternoon. I dread the body fat % measuring though.. I am so embarrassed that I have let myself go the way I have :(

Do any of you set weekly goals for yourselves? I am thinking of doing this or maybe it would be more of a weekly challenge.. This week I have the following goals:
1. Workout at least 30 minutes 5 days this week
2. Drink at least 40oz of plain water (this one is really hard for me)
3. Stay within calorie limit every day
I will try to actually catch up on posts later. I hope you all have a wonderful day.

06-03-2012, 11:28 AM
up again today, I expected it. I have been taking some allergy meds for this rash and I'm really out of it drowsy. Have to get this house in order before people start showing up for our fellowship today.
Rennie nice fbs! thx for the compliment, luv ya much!

Then my first day in the clinic starts Tuesday, but I'm just shadowing for now.

Hello all!

You're all doing a great job!

Acdamron - I like the idea of weekly goals because it keeps things much more attainable. It's reasonable to say "I'll workout 6 days this week instead of, I'll workout 6 days a week for 12 months! I also set weekly goals about drinking water and trying to introduce new veggies into my diet. I try to also set weekly weight loss and fitness goals - even though I know where my "ultimate" goal is :)

VERY excited to weigh in at 167 today! 55 TOTAL WEIGHT LOSS! YAY! :cheer:

Have a wonderful day, all. I'm off to do Turbo Fire :)

06-03-2012, 02:41 PM
Woo hoo! 2 lb loss this week! Gotta make it past 220 next week!

06-03-2012, 03:13 PM
Noticed some of the gripping pads were missing on the bottom of my scale, so I removed the others. Scale seems to be working better now. Last night it gave the same weight three times in a row, and it did the same this morning. Anyway, .8 loss today.

love2b150 - Thanks for the tip! I just assumed those skinny little batteries were expensive, lol. Looked it up online, it's less than $3! I'm not sure what is normal for a fbs, but you said yay, so it must be good! Grats :)

Diana - Grats on the loss!

Angie - I did look at the bottom of the scale, and two of the things that grip to the floor were missing. I removed the other two, and it seems to be working fine now. Next few days will tell I suppose. Congrats to you for passing up the fast food and on the loss yesterday! :)

TurboLaura - Congrats on 167!!! 55 pounds lost is amazing!

carter - you will see the 150s before you know it :) I can understand the frustration of the boingy, boingy, though. '

acdamron - Sometimes it's easier to think "At least I didn't let myself go more than this". For some reason, that helps me feel a little better sometimes. The good news is, once you get this initial appointment out of the way, you won't see those numbers again :) I think weekly goals are an excellent idea. It's easy to go week to week than month to month, or looking at the entire length of time.

aka8941 - Grats on the loss. What are you going to school for, if you don't mind my asking?

pinksparkles - Grats on the loss so far! Welcome to the thread :D

Underwater - Congrats!!

06-03-2012, 05:44 PM
Thanks everyone for the nice welcome! Now for me to drink lots of water after my camping trip!

06-03-2012, 05:47 PM
 everybody..

Rennie, have you tried a health food store?.Especially the ones that sell foods.I often frequent the same one and the other day,I caught the owner in a good mood  he showed me all kinds of all natural things that were good(learned about Acai berry,he gave me lots of reading material and some free stuff) and they have bread,soups..everything.He said "I swear I think that they are trying to kill us with all the additives,etc..that they put in foods these days.:D you're doing great w/your FBS :bravo:

06-03-2012, 07:29 PM
Down .2 this morning to 184.4 ... I hope I can keep the downward trend going. Fbs was 155 not good at all, but tomorrow is a new day.

Turbo congrats on the 55lbs GONE :high:

Carter good for you on keeping yourself accountable that's always a victory to me. :) Sorry about the up today

ghost

Thanks Steph :) Chelle is planning her wedding. She will wed on 6/26. It's sudden yes. I pray for the best. :)

ChouKoe I hear you, new decades are always a treat :) You'll get there

Thanks Diana, :) my fbs today was 155  will do better in the morning. Speaking of bread I couldn't find any bread that said low glycemic until today. I went to Giant and they have Alvarado St. Bakery - Diabetic Lifestyles, low glycemic bread made with sprouted grains. It doesn't taste bad but it is pretty firm. The kids said it was a weapon. LOL :D Oh do you have any suggestions of breads. I am open to try anything that will keep my sugars low :) Good job on the .8 down today :)

Angie LOL I thought you said you were eating 0 carb lasagna, until I read it again. :D I have looked high and low for stores in here that would cater to the diabetic world and I can't find any. It's hit and mainly miss with the products that I do find that are sugar free. It I see it online then go to the retailer that they say has it, they don't have it. Just crazy.

acdamron good job on the .4 down :) great goals :)

Thanks Kelly back at cha' :) hoping the rash goes so you can move about without feeling tired

Go for it Amanda, you got it :crossed:

Hi Ashley

Hi Jennifer :welcome: and good job on the .5 down today :)

Underwater good job on the 2lbs gone this week :)

Thanks t0rn good job on the .8 down today. It's amazing what affects those scales :) glad you figured it out. Fbs should be between 70-130. Mine this morning was 155 :nono: Gotta keep myself in check :)

Domlacha

Thanks Ona, we don't have one down here. Why I don't know and everything up north is crazy priced. I think I'll just order a few things online. I did get some Smuckers grape spread sugar free
Peter Pan whipped low sugar peanut (taste just like peanuts)
iHop sugar free syrup
some kind of gluten free pancake mix
bagel chips
multi-grain crackers
some sugar free cookies
I have some low carb Breyer's also. I bought some low glycemic bread today, it's really firm but doesn't taste bad. I obviously am missing my carbs so the things I listed will help me get a grip on this. I am actually satisfied with the serving of what ever it says on these packages so I won't feel like I am totally deprived, which is what I have been feeling. I need to learn how to read the labels again to get the net carbs on things. I can't remember that part. :?:

06-03-2012, 07:41 PM
Hey Everybody!

Despite my yo-yo weight that refuses to leave the 250s, I have lost a pant size! This morning, when getting ready for church, I realized my trusty comfy capris were in the laundry...so I grabbed a pair in a size 18W that have been uncomfortably tight in the recent past...and they fit perfect! No muffin-top to speak of :) :carrot: So glad I keep working out and trying my best to stick with eating properly...I don't care if I weight 250lbs as long as I am smaller...though I know the weight will have to follow eventually! For now I am encouraged to keep on keeping on!

Diana: So glad you found a great place for the pups! I know it can be so nerve racking to trust strangers to care for what we hold dear. Praying for your mom!

Underwater: Great job! :cb:

TurboLaura: 55lbs! What an accomplishment! Keep it up!

Acdamron: I love the idea of weekly goals, I do that with my weight and with my exercise. I know that if I can do it for one day, I can do it for a week, a month, a year, and forever!

Aka: :cheer: Cheering you into Onderland!! :cheer::cheer:

Hi Everyone1

DING! DING! :boxing: Round One! TTOM started today! Let the drama begin! :boxing:

Angie Keep on trying. My motto has always been that tomorrow is a new day! I hope you have a nice dinner at your friends house.

Carter Sending some patience your way! ;) It can be really tough sometimes. Keep up the great work!

ACdamron Good job on the .4. I think it's a good idea to start off with those goals and then make them a part of your new lifestyle.

QT HI

AKA Keep up the great work!

Turbolaura Congrats on the 55 pounds!

Dandk0204 Hi  You can do it!

Pinksparkles Hi and Welcome!

Underwater Congrats on the 2 pounds!

Torn Great job on the .8.

Domlacha Hi

Ona Hi

Rennie Good job on the .2. Have you tried this bread? http://www.saraleebread.com/our-bread/delightful/bread The whole wheat with honey has (per 2 slices) 14 g carbs, 5 g fiber, and 6 g protein. I think those are great numbers.

Tavvy Good job on the pants fitting.

06-03-2012, 11:25 PM
Hello ladies!

Thanks for all of your kind words and encouragement!
Diana, I'm glad I'm not the only one that feels like that during my TOM!

Pinksparkles, nice work! :carrot: That's a huge weight loss!

Tavvy, Congrats on the pants!! That's a great feeling!

Tavvy- isn't it great to be in a size that starts with "1" ... it was like "pre-onederland" for me haha :) congrats!

06-04-2012, 02:29 AM
my stomach is growling but I've had my points for the day. I know it's just time for bed, and I can have breakfast soon. My Stomach is just adjusting to getting less food. I definitely stretched it out in New Orleans.

When this happens to me, I brush my teeth and it seems to help alot!

Good Morning, Everyone! Let's make it a great week! :carrot:

Calories for yesterday: 1545 + :coffee:

06-04-2012, 10:30 AM
Hey folks :coffee:

Bounced all the way up to 164 this morning, heaving a sigh. Yesterday was an emotionally rough day. Today is not likely to be better. It would have been nice to not have an enormous bounce! But, what can you do.

Wishing everyone good strength today.

06-04-2012, 10:53 AM
Good morning all

I maintained at 193.9 over the weekend. But something hit me last night, not quite sure what triggered it, but I'm sick of maintaining and I'm sick of hovering. I need to get focused to start losing again. So I will. Here's to a new start!~

I hope everyone has a great day :)

06-04-2012, 11:24 AM
Happy Monday everyone!! I am back down after my camping trip this weekend. This should be a good week for me. I also realized I have way more mosquito bites than I thought, all the blood loss could be contributing to my lower weight ;).

06-04-2012, 01:02 PM
Good morning everyone :)

Had my appointment with the trainer this morning and it went really well. I have to say it was shocking to realize that I am
nearly 50% body fat :o But I know that that number will be going down in the very near future. I meet with her again in a couple of days to actually go over the plan she will set up for me. In the meantime, I weighed in at 254.8 this morning! I am thrilled to see these numbers dropping every day so far. I did 40 minutes on the elliptical yesterday, and today I walked an 18 minute mile (part of the trainers testing) 10 minutes on the recumbent bike.
Not sure how calories are going to come in today since we have to go to my MIL's for dinner this evening. She usually makes things that aren't the healthiest options, but I will be sure to keep my portion sizes in check to avoid any unnecessary extra calories.

I would like to respond to every one but I only have a couple of minutes before I have to head out the door again. Congrats to everyone who posted losses! I hope you all have a wonderful day

06-04-2012, 04:05 PM
Happy Monday, everybody! Weighed in and lost 2.2 today. So excited to be 1lb away from my next mini goal! Hope everyone has an OP day. =)

01: 236.6
02: 236.8 (+0.2)
03: 234.2 (-2.6)
04: 232.0 (-2.2)

A belated welcome to all the new faces! It looks like we've got a great group for June.

I hit a new low this morning and then blew it by going to Olive Garden, where I just had to have a piece of lemon cake. I'm feeling very anxious and upset today, because my house is leaking in a variety of places and there seems to be almost nothing I can do about it. And, shockingly, eating too much didn't really seem to help. I just logged the calories, thoug,h and I'm okay for the day, as long as I skip dinner - which will be easy, since I'm still full.

Here's to a great week for all of us!

06-04-2012, 08:12 PM
Welcome to more new members!

Didn't lose anything yet but happy to maintain. I should expect a drop in a couple of days with TOM leaving.

06-04-2012, 09:07 PM

I got an hour of run/walking in today so that should help my body/self esteem. I hope I see a loss tomorrow. Didn't track today because today is my WI day/off day!

06-04-2012, 09:26 PM
Tavvy- isn't it great to be in a size that starts with "1" ... it was like "pre-onederland" for me haha :) congrats!

Absolutely a great feeling! And you should know that you have inspired me to go indoor skydiving when I get to onderland! (we have so many other things going on in the near future, I don't think I can squeeze it in at the required weight) It looks SO fun!! I'll post my video when I go (60 lbs from now!) :)

Steph: So sorry to hear about your house  Hope it all gets sorted out...and I know the feeling of overeating to compensate for stress...if it makes you feel better it never worked for me either.

Julz: Awesome on the loss! :carrot:

Acdamrom: You are doing a great job, hope everything goes well with the trainer and I know you will keep seeing that number drop! :)

Domlacha: I didn't even go camping and I found two bites, one on the back of my arm and the other on the back of my leg...it's a bad season for pests this year!! Way to go on the loss! :cp:

Kukkie: You can do it! The only thing that can hold you back is yourself and I'm sure you won't let that happen!! :cheer3:

As for me, I managed to finally start couch to 5K today! I am going to be doing it in the evenings 3 times a week in addition to the Jillian Michaels Total Body Revolution that I do 6 times a week in the mornings (I'm halfway through the second month already). On the days I don't do Couch to 5K I will be doing yoga in the evenings. I am feeling so fit lately. I love being active, it makes everything else work better...I'm not as hungry (usually...though I do occasionally get more hungry), I sleep better (used to be an insomniac), and I can do a LOT without getting winded!

My June has been completely OP and I have never been prouder...I know it might be lame to some, but I have never been fully OP over a weekend until this past weekend!

Let's rock this week ladies!

06-04-2012, 09:34 PM
Another half pound down, woohoo! I've been eating basically the same thing everyday for about a week now, but (surprisingly) I haven't gotten sick of it! Normally I like more variety in my diet, but I'm content right now, so I'm going to go with it.

Hope everyone had a good day :)

06-04-2012, 09:58 PM
 everybody..Welcome to all the new daily weighers

WI @ 150.6 this morning :carrot: :yay: totally unexspected... don't know where that came from cause I haven't exercised since thursday :?: Did jog this morning though.

06-04-2012, 10:38 PM
You're not alonepinksparkle :) I get on these kicks and can eat the same thing for weeks.I figure if It's satisfying and filling..it's doing it's job. It's helped learn me how to eat to live and not live to eat.

Steph, hope you get that fix before more rain comes  I've been there.Hang in there

Go get'em Tavvy :cheer: beat that fat down :sumo:

Tavvy, good for you for making it into month 2 of the body revolution! Isn't it wonderful to feel fit and active! I love the feeling of being able to do more and have energy. So happy for you!

onaHow wonderful you reached that goal today!!! You showed yourself that you can do amazing things that may seem impossible at the time! Great job:D

06-05-2012, 12:41 AM
Julz Congrats on the 2.2lb loss :carrot:

Steph: I know the feeling of overeating to compensate for stress all too well. Sorry to hear about the leaks in your house.. hope you are able to get it fixed soon

Tavvy: Props for starting C25K.. One of my goals is to eventually be able to run a 5K

So even with dinner at MIL's house I am still ok on my calories today. I entered everything into Sparkpeople and even had a few to spare *Yay!* I am so glad that I am finally back on plan, I really did miss my daily workouts. I am already sleeping better, which is a very welcome thing since I haven't really slept well since Noah was born last july, LOL. And speaking of bed, it is time to drag myself upstairs and get some shut eye :)

06-05-2012, 06:00 AM
Hey everyone!! Hope everyone is having a good week. I'm excited that my husband bought me an elliptical machine so maybe my weightloss will go faster.

I'm having a wierd weight week. My TOM was due on Tuesday, but it hasn't shown up. I noticed an increase that I assumed was water weight from that, but it's come back off and my TOM hasn't come. I did eat out Sat so maybe it was too much salt. I don't know, I'm just glad it's gone. I don't like when the scale goes in the wrong direction.

So I'm at 177.8, just 4.8 lbs to go to my next mini goal.

June Weight
1 178.6
2 178.4
3 179.6
4 180.6
5 177.8

Still at 193.9 but my BM didn't happen until after I did my WI. TOM is officially 5 days late. I really really need to get my thyroid levels checked but have not been able to get an appointment with my doctor yet.

06-05-2012, 11:07 AM
Good morning ladies :)
Didnt get to go to the gym this morning because my husband took my van to work last night, and then he had to work over this morning :( I need to get some cleaning done around here anyway... Todays weight was 253.4. I know I wont continue to lose at this pace but I am certainly enjoying it while it lasts.

I hope you
all have a wonderful day!

06-05-2012, 12:38 PM

I am the same way, I don't like to get too excited about a certain change in numbers unless I can keep it up for while. I am also having a mini-vacation this weekend. Going to Chicago with my mom for her birthday. I know I'm going to be over calories, but am hoping to drink lots of water and walk around!

Good luck!

Thanks... my brother is visiting from the east coast so we are going to my fave ramen restaurant (not too bad calorie wise, but lots of sodium) and also to the Jelly Belly factory, then staying in a hotel (so eating dinner out) and going white water rafting the next day.

I know I'll see all the sodium on the scale, so I'm going to work on drinking a lot of water and make good choices when we eat out... and not eat too many jelly beans haha :)

Hi Everyone!

I have been in ICU with my Mom all day.

I will give a timeline of what I understand has happened and what is going on.

Those of you that have been around for a while probably remember my Mom has struggled with eating during her chemo treatments. A lot of things are coming together and make more sense. Although, what doesn't make sense is that my Mom didn't speak up about her problem.

I found out today that about 6 months prior to her cancer diagnosis, that my Mom started having issues with "acid"

With my Mom's cancer diagnoses, she was prescribed meds that could cause GI irritation/problems. This could be compounded by the fact that she didn't eat much food with her medicines. She didn't eat foods because her GI tract, throat, mouth, lips have been irritated.

This whole GI issue never improved, even with the change of meds. Also, my Mom never really expressed what was really going on with her. She has had bad pain when she tries to swallow foods/liquids.

Last week she had the blood clots that went to her lungs.

The medicine to help with the clots is Coumadin/blood thinners. My Mom has been given coumadin since being in the hospital for the blood clots.

We noticed that my Mom has had dark stools the last couple of days. She has also needed blood transfusions. The need of blood transfusions can also an effect of the chemotherapy.

Now it appears that she has had GI issues all along and the Coumadin has caused a bleed.

This morning the stool was worse and she was sent to ICU to get stabilized.

She has had blood transfusions today. They stopped the Coumadin and have also given her other drugs to reverse the effects of Coumadin.

Tomorrow morning at 7:30 she is scheduled to have an upper GI scope/repair done. They will take a look and try to repair whatever the problem is.

I hope they can fix the problem and she can be on the right track for recovery.

Now things have come together (I think) as to what the whole issue was with her eating. I don't know why she cannot express what's going on with her to the Dr. She just about dies before it comes out that there's an issue. Makes no sense to me, but that's Momma.

I ask, you to please say a prayer or send a positive thought for my Mom when you read this.

sleepy. went running, ate, and now studying a bit before I have a quiz tomorrow. This might be TMI but tomorrow I'm going to get my first ever bikini wax and I'm a bit nervous. wish me luck!

Diana-done. whatever you need!

06-06-2012, 12:42 AM
Diana: Sorry to hear about your mom's health issues.. I will definitely be praying for her

aka: good luck w/ the bikini wax.. My husband has wants me to get one, but there's no way I'm going in for one this fat, plus I am terrified of how bad it will hurt, lol.. Hope it goes well for you :)

underwater: congrats on reaching the 2teens!

Other than missing the gym this morning I've had a good day.. I came in at just over 1500 cals for the day. I cut up half a watermelon and put 1 cup portions into ziploc bags for easy, healthy snacks. That will keep me from being tempted to eat a cookie when I want something sweet lol.
Have a good night every one :)

Diana, I will be praying for your momma tonight! This is an important lesson for all of us to talk with our doctors about things that do not seem right with our bodies, it could save our lives.

Goodnight everyone and good luck with the scales tomorrow!

Oh I'm so sorry to hear about your mother, sending prayers your way.

Hi everyone! I'm at 177 on the dot today. Ever so slowly going down. I'm about to get ready to go out to my daughter's school today for their spring concert. I love watching the pre-K class sing!!!

Acdamron- My TOM is four days late. Mine was so bad last month that maybe it's deciding to take a break this month. It's been irregularly heavy lately. That's a really good idea about the watermelon. I need to keep some fruit ready to eat for us too. So did your plan work and you stayed away from the cookies? I'm getting to try fruits here that I never heard of back home. We have something called loquats that are so good and also yesterday I had a white peach. It wasn't furry, but it was pretty sweet. I ended up cooking one wrapped in foil with cinnamon and nutmeg and making a 3 egg omelet with it. It was a sweet treat!

OnaMi- Sweet potato chips sound yum! I wish they had those here.

AKA- Hope the running helped you get that pound back off.

Domlacha- Have fun celebrating your mom's birthday. You can eat a tiny sliver of cake! I have to tell you something funny. My daughter's class had cake to celebrate a kid's birthday and she said, "His mom cut the slices this small (she held up her hands parallel and very close together) can you believe that???" The look of shock on her face was funny. I think she is just used to me cutting huge slices of cake.

Diana- I'm so sorry that your mom is still having trouble. I was hoping she was getting better after reading your post from last week. I know how stressful it is on you. Prayers going your way.

Good Morning, Everyone!

Thank you for the thoughts and prayers. We appreciate them. :grouphug:

The scale is up this morning. It could be from sodium, TTOM that's currently going on, stress, or lack of sleep. Take your pick. Any of them, individually, could cause me a problem. I am grateful to be holding things together on the food front right now.

Calories for yesterday: 1470 + :coffee:
Weigh In: 148.4 (TTOM)
Up: 1.2 pounds

06-06-2012, 08:58 AM
well, I'm dropping water weight like crazy and now am on the verge of the 80's! I have started working so I have very little time. I miss all of you so much! I'm hoping to catch up on my days off. That might be as soon as Sat. but sunday for sure. It was nice to order Large work shirts instead of 2X or 3X! oh, and my new co-worker (she go the management position and I got the assistant)... she has lost 124 lbs. in the last two years and is working on her last 20. It's so nice to be working beside someone who knows what I'm going through and has succeeded like that. I've learned from this forum that her last 20 is just as important as my last 60, so it'll be a nice little support system for both of us :)
Diana I couldn't sleep well last night so I got up and started writing down all my ideas for work and then, when that didn't put me to sleep, I took some time to pray. I thought of you and your mom in my prayers, I haven't been on in a couple days, so I scrolled down to see if there was any news from you on her condition-I see she's really struggling, I'm so sorry. I just wanted you to know that you guys have been in my prayers and will continue to be:hug:

Good Morning, beautiful ladies!

Diana, thinking of you and your mom. It's so hard when our moms are sick.

Underwater - NICE JOB GETTING INTO THE 2TEENS! YAY! :carrot:

I weighed in at 166 today and am very excited about it! I'm hoping to be 165 on Sat and 162 by next Fri or Sat.

Have a wonderful day all and keep up the good work! :cheer:

06-06-2012, 10:05 AM
Peace be with you and your family Diana  Will keep her in my prayer. That 1.2 is from everything going on  Stay strong.

Hope your waxing goes well aka :) good luck on the test :crossed:

Doing your watermelon like that was a great idea acdamon :) over the weekend i ate berries and pomegranate seeds as snacks:D That was huge cause I've never been a big fruit person.I've been avoiding all things w/ sugar like a plague.. even though i know that the sugar in fruit is better for ya..still..But after talking to the man at the health food shoppe and he gave me a chart on the berries, which ones help different things in your body..seems like that triggered something in me to just step out and start eating a little more.:)

Have a wonderful time w/MotherDomlacha and enjoy the party :) you'll do great.:)

Aw..Texan,i bet they are so cute singing  They were good.I be looking for something to eat healthy everywhere  I found them in a service station store.;)

Hay Chou

Hay Kelly  I've been thinking of you and wondered how things were going :) You're doing great, have someone there for support,etc..that's fantastic :carrot: Great first week :high:

06-06-2012, 10:21 AM
Diana - I hope that the upper GI went well this morning and that your mom can get back on the road to recovery soon. I know that this has been frustrating and stressful on you, especially since she has not been very open about how she's been feeling. I'll continue to keep her in my thoughts. As a sidebar, can I just tell you that I'm very inspired that you've managed to stay under the high end of your maintenance weight while all this is going on! Hope things get better soon.

As for me, I'm still stuck at 193.9 and a week later, still no TOM. Argh. I actually took a pregnancy test last night just in case. Yep, nothing there. Don't know where TOM has gone this month, or why he decided to send his baggage if he had no intention of showing up. I can only continue making the right choices and getting in all of my water. Eventually the weight has got to fall off...right?

06-06-2012, 10:27 AM
Hey folks. :coffee: I weighed but didn't check in yesterday ... very emotionally trying week, couldn't find the energy to be cheery and upbeat. Today I weighed in at 162, and doubting whether it's realistic for me to get below 160 and maintain there. It may just be more work than I can/am willing to do.

Diana, I'm so glad there has been progress in helping your mother. It's so hard to help someone who won't tell you she needs help! Good luck managing your end of taking care of her, and I hope she gains her strength back very soon.

06-06-2012, 11:45 AM
Even though I ate out last night (Japanese, and stayed within my calories as much as I could estimate), I woke up to 174.5 today! Woohoo!

Hahaha, that is pretty funny. I love the chance to experience the world through eyes of a young child, they come up with some pretty amazing things. I am a fan of big pieces of cake!:D

Holding on to my 219 number by a thread with a 219.8 weigh in today. So frustrating! And I'm going away this weekend, so it that number might not stick around :(

06-06-2012, 04:19 PM
Joining this thread for accountability, since I've seem to hit a plateau.

June 1: 150.6
June 2: 150.1 (!!!! SO CLOSE!!!)
June 3: Don't think I weighed in.
June 4: ? Don't think I weighed in.
June 5: 150.8
June 6: 151

I've had some "blahs" and binges this week. Not feeling like working out, or doing much of anything, and allowing myself crazy things like donuts, plural, as in more than one donut. ;-)
Today I went home on my lunch break and worked out. I feel a little better. We shall see...

06-06-2012, 04:25 PM
Good afternoon ladies :)

I am up a little from yesterday to 253.8, but i'm not complaining since overall I still have a 3lb loss. Cutting up all that watermelon really was a good idea.. The kids are liking it being available to just grab when they want it too. On plan so far today. I did 45 mins on the elliptical, and I should come in around 1400 on my calories for today. I can't believe how much better I am already feeling, albeit a little sore, lol. I would love to respond to everyone but the baby just woke up from his nap. Hope you all have a great day!

I don't know what's going on here, weight wise. Sore breasts and back pain so PMS is here, and mine usually lasts a week and 1/2. Good times.

But I'm running almost every day, counting points, and it'll pay off after my body does its thing.

Hi Everyone!

Update on Mom:
The surgery went well. She has been dealing with gastritis/virus of the esophagus during this whole cancer situation. It appears that the Coumadin has caused the bleed in the esophagus. They are still working on reversing the Coumadin, so her blood won't be so thin. A couple weeks ago they prescribed a medication for this virus in her esophagus. Now they have her on an IV of this medication. I'm sure it's a much higher dosage than the tablets they originally prescribed. They also did a leg scan and chest scan to see the status of the blood clots. They are wanting to make sure there are not any more in her legs that may travel since they won't be prescribing the Coumadin any longer. Good news is that there are no more blood clots in her legs. The ones in her lungs are the only ones, and I believe they are shrinking due to the original Coumadin and the natural body processes. (this is my understanding, although I could be wrong) They are doing IV nutrition right now. They might consider doing a feeding tube in a couple days. This just depends on how well she does with the new meds. She is awake, coherent, and doing very well.

Thank you so much for the thoughts and prayers. We appreciate them.

That's good to hear she is well

Hello everyone!
Yay, I just skipped right over 176! I'm at 175.6 today. Maybe I didn't see 176 because it was disguised by water weight since my TOM came yesterday. Hope everyone is staying on plan and getting some excercise in.

Hello folks :coffee:

Diana, glad to hear the surgery went well for your mom and she seems to be on the road to improvement now.

TexanInItaly - enjoy that whoosh, you worked for it!

My mood was a little less bleak yesterday, so perhaps there is a light at the end of the tunnel for me.

And, I weighed in today at 161 - not where I'd like to be, but better than the 164 bounce of a couple days ago. I am still not sure whether reaching and maintaining in the low 150s will be feasible for me, but I have reminded myself that I'm committed to sticking to my current plan through the summer and I will see where I am then.

Good luck and good strength to all today!

Good morning, everyone!

diana, I'm glad to hear there's some good news about your mom. And you seem to be handling the ongoing struggle really well, understanding that there's only so much you can do for her.

carter, I hope your week continues to improve. I know that I have trouble keeping my eating under control under good circumstances, so any additional stress makes it exponentially harder.

I've had a bit of a wallow in self-pity this week, fretting about all the water infiltration in my house. I called my roofer on Tuesday but he didn't call me back, so I called him again last night. I'm embarrassed to admit that I pulled the girl card and came very close to crying as I was leaving my message, practically begging him to help me. But it worked and he called me back, so maybe there's hope. It's just that I feel so alone sometimes, having to handle everything myself, and it's so hard to find reliable contractors.

But enough of that. Congrats to everyone who's doing so well! Kelly, Underwater, Texan, pinksparkles- good job! I've been at 141 all week, even a bit below today, so I'm stoked.

Time to head out to my physical therapy/torture session. Have a good day, all!

06-07-2012, 09:22 AM
Diana - That must be scary, but I'm very glad she's doing well.

Hope everyone is having a Happy Thursday.

06-07-2012, 10:06 AM
I'm still at 193.9. Frustrated. Going to try something new in terms of eating schedule today, let's see if it works.

Diana - glad to hear your mom is doing better  Stay strong!

06-07-2012, 11:00 AM
Hey ladies! So Tuesday I accidentally over ate by 400 calories. I always put my dinner into my tracker before eating it to be sure I don't overeat. Well, I stopped at Chickfila for dinner, tracked the calories before ordering and made good decisions while allowing myself chicken nuggets. (no fries though, I got a side salad) I ate it blah blah blah...get home and look over my log for the day (I religiously check macronutrients) and realize I put in the wrong serving size for dressing and the nuggets! Ugh. Anyway, back on plan yesterday and Today.

My weight is not dropping much...I've never weighed everyday and I'm nearing ovulation so maybe that is keeping some water. All I know is that it is for this reason I measure my waist and hips. I'm proud to say in the last 7 weeks I have lost 3" from my waist and 2.75" from my hips! (this explains the pant size). Also my body fat percentage is down from 57% to 53.8%!

My stomach is noticeably flatter and my legs are looking great. I'm a pear shape and was worried I'd lose the little boob I do have but so far they are the same.

Sorry to brag, I am trying to keep myself inspired despite the scales! I'll catch up on personals later.

Hope everyone has an awesome day!!

06-07-2012, 11:18 AM
Hello everyone. I'm down 2.4 pounds for the week! Which is super exciting. I have been this weight before, however, even within the last couple of weeks. The goal is to keep the numbers going down. Which should be an interesting challenge considering I'm hosting a community BBQ to raise awareness for the need of more foster/adoptive parents of color in my county and I'll be in Chicago Sat, Sun, and Mon! I think I'll bring my scale with me to motivate moderation!

Diana, Great news that your mothers surgery went well, I prayer for her continued healing and that she isn't suffering too much.

Texan Good job on the drop! Keep it going.

Tavvy You should be proud of yourself! Inches are just as important as weightloss (sometimes more). A few years back I was down to 146, I did lose some weight around my hips and thighs, but I was still roughly the same pant size in denim, but when down in dress pants (I wonder if it has to do with the amount of stretch) But this time around with the different types of exercises and more weight training, I have actually lost a pant size in denim, I'm an 8! Haven't been an 8 in a long time.

I'm frustrated and taking on water, so just like Tavvy I'm going to purchase a tape measure today. Thanks for reminding me of that. Some of the times I was most successful at losing is when I could mark down my inches lost.

Today I will study and go for a run, again.

Much love ladies.

06-07-2012, 02:17 PM
Up a bit today to 175, I figured the giant weight loss overnight was a fluke. :P I think I'm retaining water today, though.. my fingers are a bit swollen. Goal for the day: lots of water :)

Happy Thursday everyone!

Hi Everyone,

I appreciate all of the good thoughts and prayers from everyone. Unfortunately, things have changed, again.
This whole thing with my Mom has been a roller coaster ride. This morning she took a turn for the worse. Her hemoglobin hasn't dropped, which is good news. That means that the bleeding has stopped. Hopefully the meds have helped with the virus in her esophogus. The bad news is that she is having issues with her breathing. They are thinking this was from her being sedated from the GI scope yesterday. I was with her quite a while yesterday and last night. She seemed to have gotten congested last night, but was still doing well. I have made a decision for now. I am not happy with either of my options. We spoke with my Mom this morning. She has made conflicting comments. I spoke with all of her Drs, too. I am giving my Mom one last chance to pull this thing out and make a turn for the better. Once you decide the other way, there's no turning back. My Mom chose chemo, my Mom chose to go to the ER last week, my Mom even agreed to a feeding tube if necessary, so her esophogus could heal. She said she wated to live this morning before they sedated her. After they sedated her she said something different. We have the legal documents that give me the final decision. She has never wanted to be on life support. Earlier today she told me differently. All of the Drs. believe this is a temporary complication with her breathing. Again, I am not happy with either of the options. But I would rather err on the side of caution at this point in time.

I'm sorry to post about this. It helps me to be able to get my thoughts out, though. Thank you for listening. I don't mean to burden you with this. Please pray that I am able to make the correct decison and choices for my Mom. Again, I don't really have any other family but my DH and Mom. This is really tough for me.

06-07-2012, 04:20 PM
Diana, you and your mother are in my prayers. I am a newbie here but I have read your post and I can definitely feel for you and your mom. You appear to be a super strong and caring lady so you just have to trust in yourself and your decisions will be the right ones.

06-07-2012, 04:58 PM
Diana, I don't consider you posting your thoughts here a burden. If anything, I am humbled that as your 3FC family, you are willing to share your journey with us because I know it can be extremely trying at times. Just know that we are here for you at any time and will keep you and your mom in our thoughts and prayers. I know that you'll make the best decision for you both, whatever that decision may be

06-07-2012, 05:21 PM
Diane; I second everything Kukkie said.

06-07-2012, 06:49 PM
My weight is up weighted in at 186.8 today and my fbs is up because of dumb decisions I made last evening. It's not a s high as yesterday (fbs 216) no sugar/gluten free pasta but it isn't where it should be.

Tavvy great NSV with the capris :) Keep up the good work and watch the inches fade :) Tavvy another NSV being OP for the weekend. :high: You are really doing well, keep it going:) Brag away you earned the right :high:

Diana no I didn't even think to look at Sara Lee bread. When I see that name I think sweet ;) which can't be good for me. But I'll give it a shot. I'm also finding that if I am gonna eat a carb it must be earlier in the day not late afternoon/evening. :) Thanks ... good job on the .6 down on the 5th :) ... sending prayers and positive thoughts your way and to your Mom. ... sorry about the up yesterday  take care of YOURSELF also  I can't even imagine having to make that decision. My sincere thoughts and prayers to you :hug:and ditto what Kukkie said :)

Kukkie best of luck to you with your new start :) Kukkie sorry about TOM not arriving like it should  Yes the weight does have to come off and we know that it will :)

Domlacha sorry about the mosquito bites, hope they are better now :) Good job on your losses for the week :) and what a great cause to raise awareness for :) Only eat what's grilled :D

acdamron glad you are liking the trainer, makes it easier and fun I'm sure :) Great job on the 4th, glad you're sleeping better. It makes a world of a difference. :)

julz good going on the 2.2 gone on the 4th :)

Steph congrats on the new low :) and sorry about the leaks  Glad the roofer called you back :)

Jennifer are you losing or shedding inches with eating the same thing? What are eating? Would it happen to be low carb? :D Almost at goal, wtg :high:

Ona :yay: on the 150 on the 4th :) Ona who makes the sweet potato chips?

Angela great loss from the 4th to the 5th, wtg :) Congrats on the elliptical :) That's cute about your daughters class and the cake. :) Nice weigh in today :high:

Underwater nice job on making it to the two teens :high: Sending early :goodvibes: that you will do just fine this weekend :)

anotherlostgirl, it's not as easy the second and in my case third, fourth time around, smh. We'll get the scale moving in the right direction again :)

Amanda how did the bikini wax go? I had my first mammogram in May and I was told that it hurts like crazy. It wasn't a bit painful to me, so I don't know what all of the complaints were about. I know a waxing is way different, no comparison at all. Sorry about the PMS

Kelly it is great to work with someone that you can talk to and relate to about health issues (weight loss). I work with a lady that is diabetic and can give me all the advice in the world, good advice mind you but she doesn't follow anything close to diabetic that I see. I asked her are her reads ever in range and she just gave me a look. I can't do that to my body. My oldest son made snickerdoodle muffins last night, (yes I did). I know it's a :nono: but I had the top off one last night :( and a botttom of one this morning. :( Needless to say, I didn't feel very well when I went to work this morning. I do hope this is a lesson I have learned :) ... :woohoo: 180's here you come. :)

Laura nice job on seeing 166 :)

carter nice weigh in today :), and glad to hear your mood is better

ChouKoe yes a loss is a loss :)

lynah :welcome: you can do it :)

karmich :welcome:

Thank you so much for your thoughts, prayers, and kind words. I truly appreciate them.

Back from the hospital. My Mom's vitals are stable. The hemoglobin hasn't dropped. That means she is no longer bleeding. They did a lung culture earlier in the day. It came back that she had some pneumonia. This was probably brought on by her being sedated yesterday and why she was having issues breathing today. The nurse said that my Mom is breathing some on her own.

06-07-2012, 10:52 PM
I can't catch up! I missed a few days because there was a lot going on at work, which kept me busy evenings too. There was a lot of eating in restaurants, or sandwich platters at lunch meetings...one day I was up 3 lbs, now I'm back where I was before the event, and today was the first day of TOM for me (3 days early)...which does help explain the bottomless-pittiness of my stomach from a few days ago.

Catch up with you all tomorrow!

06-07-2012, 11:01 PM
Diana -- I just saw your post above so I had to go back to read the updates on your mom. I'm so shocked to hear that things have gone so wrong so quickly, and I'm so very sorry that you have this huge responsibility to bear and decision to make while you also deal with just worrying about your mom. I will pray for you to have strength and peace with whatever decisions you have to make.

06-08-2012, 02:31 AM
I'm praying for you Diana.
I know your mom is so precious to you, and that you are so worried and stressed. I am so sorry you are both going through this. We will just give it up to the Lord. I will pray the Lord will guide you in your decisions and give you peace. You are an inspiration in so many ways (and you could never be a burden on anyone!)
Although things are difficult, it's a blessing you are able to spend time with your mom and show her how much you care.
We love you and we will keep praying for you.

06-08-2012, 02:36 AM
Diana - sending you all good thoughts and hopes for your Mum  I am off to the hospital myself, my son was hospitalised yesterday due to a suspected epileptic fit. Keep strong xx

06-08-2012, 03:36 AM
Diana-my heart's going out to you and your mama

06-08-2012, 07:04 AM
Good Morning, Everyone! Enjoy your weekend.

Your heartfelt thoughts mean so much to me, right now. I can truly feel the love through your posts. I am trying to be patient and think positive so the medicine has a chance to work. It's really hard. By all accounts it's the correct thing to do right now. There has been no organ failure or anything like that going on. We'll see what happens. A friend of ours went in for surgery at the first of the year. He had a similar situation and was treated similarly to my Mom. In fact he is quite a bit older than my Mom. He is back to his regular routine and in fact, mows the grass at our business (riding lawn mower). I was scared to allow him to come back after everything he had went through with his health. But I felt it was also unfair not to allow him since the Dr. has released him and it's what he wanted to do. Everything is going well for him. Hopefully my Mom will bounce back, too. I won't post anything else unless there is a major change. Daily updates can be very draining for everyone here. I just ask that you please keep us in your thoughts and prayers.

Hello Ladies!

VERY happy to weigh in at 165 on the dot this morning! Down 57 pounds and counting :) My hopes are for 162 by next Friday.

Have a wonderful day and I appreciate your support.

Take care, Diana and stay strong! :hugs:

06-08-2012, 10:35 AM
Good morning  and Happy Friday!!!!

I'm finally down with a nice whoosh I might add. Down 1.7 to 192.2. Hoping to keep it up through the weekend. Hope everyone has a great day!

06-08-2012, 10:43 AM
Hi folks. :coffee:

Diana: your family is in my thoughts - hang in there. You are very strong and I bet your mom is too.

As for me: weak. But holding at 161. Good luck and good strength this weekend, everyone.

06-08-2012, 10:53 AM
:wave:Good morning everyone! Well my weight is down another 1.2 pounds to 151.0 this morning, super exciting, but not really sure where it came from! I am suspecting I may have been a little backed up, if you know what I mean ;). But things seem to be moving more smoothly the last couple of days. Maybe this drop is the motivation I need to stay within my calories this weekend. I have already prepackaged some snacks for breakfast and lunch into individual serving sizes to bring along.

Diana, I will keep praying for you and your mom, stay strong and remember to breath.

Love2b150  Keep working at your fbs, with practice and patience you will get it under control

Kukkie, good for you on the 1.7 down:carrot:

06-08-2012, 11:07 AM
Diana, don't forget to take care of yourself, too.

carter, I don't think anyone who's read any of your posts here would think of you as weak. Occasionally struggling, maybe, like all of us.

Kukkie, Turbo Laura, Karmich, Domlacha - nice work!

I was astounded to see 139.8 on the scale this morning. I've been pretty much on plan this week but that puts me down 2 pounds in a week, which is a little nuts. Not that I'm complaining! I haven't seen the 130s for 20+ years. Tomorrow is my birthday, so I'll have to try not to go overboard.

love2b150: I've lost both, surprisingly! Normally it's only one or the other with me, it seems. My eating plan has always been about counting calories, so I still allow myself to eat the things I want, just in a smaller portion. I figure it's more sustainable that way :) I've been eating lots of fruits and vegetables as meal sides too, which has really helped with my sweet tooth.

My breakfasts have been cereal, yogurt and a banana. Lunch is normally a turkey sandwich with baby carrots, a cheese string (even at 21, I will never cease to find those things amusing to eat;)), an apple and a nectarine. Then, dinner has been a turkey burger on one of those thin multigrain buns, some rice and some sort of vegetable, with fruit later on in the night as dessert.

I don't really keep track of macronutrients as I probably should.. my sugars would probably be through the roof :o

Diane: My thoughts are going out to you and your mom. Just know that during this stressful time, we're all here to listen. It can really help to talk about how you're feeling, just to let it out.

Angie: TOM makes my appetite go insane too! Took me a long time to finally realize that's what it was. Here's to a whoosh of water this week! :)

Starbrite: Hope your son's doing okay now! That sounds like some scary stuff! :(

TurboLaura: Great job on the weigh-in! Huge accomplishment :D

Steph: Yay for scale-firsts! Happy early birthday as well!

I was down 1.5 from yesterday.. increasing my water intake worked! Have a good weekend everyone! :D

06-08-2012, 11:28 PM
Diana great to hear your Mom is breathing some on her own and no more bleeding. Ditto on what kifli said  Still in my thoughts and prayers  Good job on the 1.2lbs down :) :high:  wish I could give you a real hug. You're so strong

Angie, nice to see you. I miss chatting/texting with you

kifli  greatly put. You're a blessing

Sam sorry hear about your son. Keep us posted. Praying for you and your family also

Amanda good job on the 1.5lbs down :high:

karmich good job on the 1.2lbs down :high:

Laura great job on the 57lbs GONE :high: keep up the good work :)

Kukkie good job on the 1.7lbs down :high:

carter that's a pound down from yesterday right? That's something to smile about  Does your partner come home soon? That'll get you back to smiling I hope :) I agree with Steph you are a strong woman. We all have our downs, goodness knows I do

Thanks Domlacha :). Good job on the 1.2lbs down :high: I'm trying ;) I just gotta stay away from what I KNOW I have NO business putting in my mouth. Today was a good day. :crossed: for a great fbs in the morning :)

Congratulations Steph on getting back to the 130's. When I get there my head will be so big my neck will wonder what happened :D Great job :high:

ChouKoe

Well Jennifer keep doing what you're doing. I love your eating plan but fruit, rice and bread are definite :nono: for me. I haven't figured out the balance yet other than if I plan to eat a carb it absolutely must be during the day/early :) Good job on the 1.5lbs down :high:

Kelly and Ona and anyone I missed. I hope you and all of us have wonderful weekends. Take care. Diana here's one last  from me for the night :)

down 2.4lbs back to 184.4. I so want to get to the 170's. A new decade would make me grin from ear to ear ;)

06-09-2012, 12:14 AM
Thank you again for the thoughts and prayers. Keep them coming! I truly appreciate it. It's been a long week, so I won't be able to catch up with personals. I will be back tomorrow, though.

I hope everyone has a great weekend!

06-09-2012, 03:34 AM
Hello everyone. Back from the hospital. DS is ok, they are not sure what is wrong or why he fitted. They want more cardiological tests. This is a very scary time.
Diana - It is terribly hard to be in your shoes right now. Keep strong and keep doing what your'e doing
Weight wise I'm up. TBH life has been so stressful lately, I don't feel the focus I need. Not sure how to conquer all the stress, lack of sleep etc. I don't feel I'm over eating, just chips seem to have sneaked into my life. Must do better.
Weight=160.8- up albs from my goal. More focus needed

Good morning everyone.. down to 251.6(or 8) The display on my scale is dying so I can't see all of the last number.. So I guess I will be scale shopping this week. But I will be out of the 250's soon :carrot:

Diana: I am continuing to pray for you and your mom

Starbrite: praying for your son. I hope they can get you some answers soon. I think the worst part about having something wrong with your child is not knowing what is wrong :( It is that period of "wait and see" that is the most emotionally draining..

Steph: :bday2you:!

Kukkie: I love waking up to a nice whoosh :) Great job!

Have a great weekend everyone :) Beautiful weather here in Southwest Virginia, so the kids and I are going to go play tennis, and go for a walk.

06-09-2012, 10:12 AM
Thanks for the kind words, folks. What I'm working through is NOTHING compared to what Diana and her family have on their plate - but it has been a trying week. The pats on the back are much appreciated.

Still holding at 161. Could be worse! Good luck and good strength today folks.

06-09-2012, 11:55 AM
Good Morning, all!

Keep up your great work everyone! Thank you, love2b150 (I love your name!!) for the encouragement!

Domlacha - Great job! :carrot:

Carter - take care and I hope that you're weekend is better than expected.

Diana - thinking of you and your mom

Starbrite - I hope that your son is ok...that must be so stressful.

Steph - nice work! My ULTIMATE goal is to also be in the 130's!

Woke up to weighing in at 164 and can't be happier! This was my goal for the past 4 weeks :) YAY! I just complete my first month of Turbo Fire and am so happy with the 10 pound weight loss and also seeing toning, especially in my core and legs. :exercise:

Have a wonderful day and keep up the good work and positive thoughts!

06-09-2012, 12:18 PM
Woke up to a scale that wouldn't stop changing its numbers, so my weighins today ranged from 170 (what?) to 175(also-what?). Guess it's time for a new one today :P

Happy Saturday all!

down 2lbs to 182.4 I will not go overboard this weekend I will stay OP

DRUMROLL fbs 111 this morning :) and one hour earlier. Best fbs yet :yay:

Sam hope the test tell you what's wrong with him. That's quite scary I'm sure. Praying for you and your family  Sorry about all of the stress  How did the kitchen renovations go? Are they done?

Good Morning Diana :) How are you this morning? Stay strong my friend

acdamron good job on the scale, new decade here you come :high:

Happy Birthday Steph may you have many more  Blessings to you :)

Good Morning carter, sending positive energy and good strength to you today

Thanks Laura, that was my goal when I was at 220lbs and I was almost there two years ago and I blew it, when I got comfortable. :) As I learn more how to deal with my diabetes I think I will see great losses (as long as I do right) before I plateau :crossed: Congrats on reaching your end of the week goal, WTG :yay:

06-09-2012, 11:20 PM
Hi Everyone! I hope you are having a wonderful evening.

Acdamron Thank you. Enjoy your day! Tennis and a walk sounds awesome!

Carter Keep up the great work and being consistent. Stay strong.

TurboLaura Thank you. Congrats on meeting your most recent goal! Gotta love the Turbo Fire! :carrot:

Pinksparkles Hi  Did you buy a new scale today?

Rennie Great job on the 2 pounds and your FBS! Did you find a bread that would work for you?

06-10-2012, 05:12 AM
Morning. No weigh in for me no sleep so rather stressed.
Thanks for your kind thoughts about DS. We have to go to a cardiologist to see if there is an underlying heart reason for his fitting. DS is fifteen 6ft 2 and heavy. I'm really concerned about what might be wrong, but feel in my heart of hearts that the two fits he's had are anomalies. But I am sensible enough to rule out all possibilities.
Love - The kitchen is awesome - I posted pics in the May thread. The only problem is I like to cook, drink wine and chat in it !! Hasn't helped my weight.
Diana - Hope things are looking brighter today

Good morning :flow2:

I'm up 1.2, but it's TOM and we spent most of the day at an amusement park yesterday so I'm not too worried. Hopefully lots of water and movement today will get things going.

Sam -- I'm sorry to hear that your son was hospitalized; have they ruled out that it was an epileptic seizure? Hope you and he are well today, and that you can get some sleep tonight. Sending you lots of 'stay strong' vibes

Congratulations to everyone who lost weight this weekend! For those who didn't -- keep at it -- strong focus and hard work will get you where you need to go (and me too hopefully!).

Diana -- I'm sending lots of positive and supportive vibes out to you as well. I hope you find a way to relax and get a little peace today too. Do you still do your exercise DVD's regularly? You were on my mind yesterday and I was wondering how often you do them now in maintenance? Have you changed the frequency compared to when you were losing?

I'm off to do a bit of cleaning up around the house -- there are piles of fur skittering across the floors, and piles of laundry slowing creeping out of th e baskets and making their way across the floors...clear sign that it's time.

06-10-2012, 11:50 AM
192.2 today, which is up a little, I'm really hoping to see the 180's by the end of the month. I probably will because this job has got me movin'
I have to get ready for our sunday worship here in the living room and then we're headed over to another family's for a cook out.
I'm hoping to get more yard work done after that.
I don't know if I'll ever get caught up on personals.... I've been having to read a bunch of guides and manuals for the resturant, hopefully things will slow down in a couple of weeks.
Rennie I saw you had a terrific FBS yesterday! and it looks like you're back on track for getting into those 70's! :woohoo: luv ya!

06-10-2012, 11:54 AM
Angie Sorry about the up this morning, but I can relate with TTOM. I'm glad not to see an increase on this scale this morning with it being TTOM for me, too. I'm hoping mine will be ending soon. I still workout every day. Since my Mom has been sick, I have taken a day off here and there, but not many. Working out also helps with the stress of all of this. I can get high anxiety and even more so since it's TTOM. I haven't changed anything with maintenance. If my weight drops, that's a good excuse to have a splurge day. Anything and everything is a good excuse for a splurge day, but I won't even go there! ;) I hope you have a productive day with straightening the house. Sometimes, getting those things done around the house can be therapeutic for me. A sense of accomplishment and control, especially when there are so many things out of your control. Have a great one!

06-10-2012, 11:56 AM
QT I must have missed something. Are you going to work at a restaurant? :?: Enjoy the cookout! Have a wonderful day!

06-10-2012, 12:18 PM
Sending warm thoughts to Diana and Starbrite and both their families today.

I'm back up to 162 today. Not too surprising - bought some hot mix at the Indian grocery yesterday while picking up some ingredients for this week's cooking, and didn't exactly control myself with it ...

I'm catching up on some work today, if things go well I'll also get a workout in (my gym is here at the office so once I'm here I may as well).

Good luck and good strength, everyone.

06-10-2012, 12:29 PM
Carter I hope you can get that workout in. Stay strong.

06-10-2012, 05:09 PM
Good Afternoon, Happy Sunday

this mornings fbs was 143 :( ... I thought I had this thing but it (cravings still have me) I found some sweet potato chips that are very good but when you eat them after 9:30pm not a smart decision :)

but good news is I am down .4 to 182.0. Those of you that know me, know I like to weigh often. We'll I kept getting on the scale until it was time for church. I got to see 181. I was so excited I grinned from ear to ear (that number does exist for me again :D)

Thanks Diana, I did I actually went to the Giant and found some low glycemic bread for diabetics. It's made by Alvarado St. Bakery. It doesn't taste bad, it's seedy which I don't like and rather firm (the kids thought that was funny.) I'm still gonna check into the Sara Lee bread. I'm sure it will taste a lot better :) Diana likewise on the great day  Sometimes, getting those things done around the house can be therapeutic for me. A sense of accomplishment and control, especially when there are so many things out of your control. <---- this is so true  I have always loved your positivity I was so hoping to come to SC to meet you for Nichelle's graduation :). Maybe one day we'll meet :)

Sam sorry about the stress and your son:hug: and do what you will in your kitchen. You know what triggers you so just continue entertaining and enjoying it but do put that beautiful outfit/dress outside of the closet and when you think to overeat go take a peak at that outfit and think of how lovely you know you look in it "starbrite" and SHINE :)

Angie I thought about that when Sam first mentioned it. My Dad was epileptic. Sounds like you and Cameron had a great day yesterday. I love reading about your outings. :) Sorry about your up  but you know that it is only temporary :) Hoping for a great whoosh

Thanks Kelly you're at 192 I'm at 182 let's do a pound this week (pinky shake, I think is what the kids say) I'd love to see the 170's by the end of the month also. We can do this  Luv ya too you're so sweet :)

Have a great day carter :) enjoy your workout.

06-10-2012, 06:25 PM
Well, I went massively off plan yesterday to celebrate my birthday (such a lame excuse), so bye-bye 139 (I hardly knew you!). I'm doing better today and even doubled up my exercise to make up for yesterday's slothfulness. I'm slightly irritated with myself but I'm not going to use it as an excuse to give up, which is a real win for me. I'm starting to feel confident that the changes I've made in my thinking about food and eating are really taking hold, even if I'm not always perfectly on plan.

I hope everyone had a great weekend!

HI Everyone!

Rennie It's hard to change everything at one time. You will learn what works for your with your FBS's. It takes time. Think of it like a science experiment. ;) Gotta love those science experiments. Anyways, you will find what works best for you. That would be wonderful to meet up! Hopefully one day. :carrot: Great job on the .4 and for the walk! I have heard that walking works wonders for your sugar levels. :bravo:

Steph Happy belated Birthday! ::bday2you::celebrate::bday2you: Nothing wrong with celebrating your birthday. Today you got right back on track. Awesome job! :carrot:

AKA Hi

I have to get it together. I've lost a total of 1.6 pounds this month. I splurged all weekend and now I'm kicking myself for being a piggy. :ink: I'd like to think the 1.2 pound gain is water, but I know it's not after eating fajitas, margaritas, gelato, cookies, and movie popcorn this weekend. I don't know why I did it. I gues I just gave into TTOM cravings (I know that's just an excuse to eat crap.)

I'm back on plan this morning and going to put this bad weekend behind me.
I went to the park to ride my bike and jog this morning and it started raining. Yeah, I rode in the rain like an idiot because I thought it would just sprinkle, but then it started pouring when I was far from my apartment. I hope the day gets better.

Good Morning, Everyone! Let's make it a great week!

I woke up feeling more bloated than I expected and the scale shows it this morning. I'm sure it has something to do with TTOM. My high weight for TTOM this month has been 148.4 and my low has been 147.2. That's a 1.2 pound range. That's not bad for me. I remember I used to gain 5-10 pounds during TTOM.

Calories for yesterday: 1355 + :coffee:
Weigh In: 148.2 (TTOM)
Up: 1 pound

06-11-2012, 10:12 AM
I'm up 1.3, back to 193.5. It's getting really hot over here, but I got in all of my water this weekend, and did some major housecleaning, which served as my workout. I honestly did not expect to see a gain. Although 11 days later and TOM has still not arrived.

On the plus side, I finally found a family doctor in my new area (over a year later) that is accepting new patients. I'm going to see him tomorrow morning before work, so hopefully I'll be able to get my TSH levels checked. In the past this has been my culprit for lack of TOM, major fatigue and all the other symptoms I've been feeling. Keep your fingers crossed for me. In the meantime, I'm going to continue chugging water to see if I can get rid of some of this weight.

Hope everyone has a great day

06-11-2012, 11:02 AM
 everybody..

Glad to WI @ 150.0 on the dot this morning (down.6 since last WI) :carrot: found the Arctic zero Ice Cream  Even though I've been adding it into my daily plan, thought it was doing me in but it hasn't :cp: Trying to branch out, try different healthy things to eat but every time i eat something that is half way different,i think it's going to cause me to gain weight :o Forever working on stop being afraid, staying focus on listening to my body of when to eat.. not eating just to eat.

I don't remember the name of the chips Rennie sorry but when i buy some more,I'll remember to post it :)

06-11-2012, 07:12 PM
today up .2 to 182.2 Kelly now we both have 2.2lbs to lose to get to the next decade. :) You know what's weird is if I weigh again in 30 minutes I see 181 boy wouldn't that be great :)

fbs was 151. This made me mad because I ate right, I walked, and I got just a little less than 8 hours sleep. I did everything right. And I'm back in the high numbers.

Ona what are your fastings usually like? Do you eat a protein snack before bed? I am doing the cider vinegar but I'm unsure if it's helping and I see that a lot of diabetics use it also. PM me or email, or text ... it's fine thanks for your help and input  Isn't that ice cream good? I love the chocolate and the vanilla. I haven't had it since I've been diagnosed I just use the Breyer's carb smart or whatever it's called. Thanks on the chips. I found another kind but that were ridiculous in carbs. The ones I have are Good Health Natural Foods - Glories sea salt/sweet potato chips 4 net carbs for 1oz. They also make the veggie sticks I eat. They have a hummus chip I'd like to find also.
Great job on your 150 ... I'd love to be 150 get it

Diana this is a huge science experiment and if my life depended on it in the next week I'd probably die. I ate ham and cheese for breakfast this morning with 8 veggie sticks (chip like things) they have 3 net carbs. My bs was 150. This is truly irking me. I feel like no matter what I do this will never regulate. Also the kicker is I read on the ADA site that fasting should be between 70-130mg. And two hours after a meal should be less than 180mg. Well with those numbers I thought I was on my way to great numbers. Nope got my log book in the mail yesterday from ONETOUCH and the correct ranges are less 110 fasting and less than 140 two hours after meals. REALLY :tantrum:
I can't win for losing. Yeah I was talking/chatting with some people on diabetic forums and they said I should try walking in the morning and evening. I remember when I was pregnant with Rissa my endocrinologist told me to walk for 20 minutes after every meal. :dizzy: Sorry to write you a book but thanks for listening  oh and I think you are doing great weight wise considering all that you have going on. Great job

Angela sorry about the up. Who knows it may just be sodium, it's sneaky that way. Hope the rain slacked up for you :)

Kukkie sorry for your up. can't wait to hear your results when you get them. If it's your thyroid will the medicine the start you on help with weight loss?

06-11-2012, 08:14 PM
You're doing great Rennie :cp: the numbers could be just off for some reason. You know you ate health, are really working at keeping them low, could be just a little blimp.that's better than 200 or something.I don't have to check my FBS cause I'm not diabetic any more(according to my blood work).
Lately as a late night snack, I've been eating some Blue Berries/black Berries.A piece of protein would be too heavy for late night.I don't do shakes.
It takes a while to get in your system i think. Those are the chips i found :carrot: Glories..In a small bag.( i saw them in a bigger bag but refused to buy them cause I'd eat the whole bag at once :o) I recognized the name and carb count when you posted that :) Thank you  you'll get there

Steph-Happy Belated Birthday!

Rennie-Diagnosed? Did I miss something?

Ona-You have to tell me about Arctic Zero, I've been hearing about it a lot. What store did you find it at

TexanInItaly-I believe you asked me a while back what part of Houston I live in. I'm not good at responding on the boards at all, but I didn't want to be unfriendly. I'm living in Pasadena for the summer, but usually I live at University of Houston Main campus. I love it there.

Diana-Hey lady.

06-11-2012, 10:35 PM
Happy Monday everyone! Hope the weekend treated you well, both on the scale and otherwise :)

I weighed in at the same as yesterday, 174.5. Maintaining is better than gaining, I suppose! Since I was sick and congested last week, I hadn't gone for a run in a while (my favourite form of exercise), so I decided I would go today. It's amazing how much your cardiovascular endurance can decrease just after a week off.. but I feel great now! Runners high is awesome, and maybe it'll trick my body into shedding some more. ;)

06-11-2012, 11:18 PM
Hi Everyone!

Kukkie I hope the Dr. visit goes well. Did you ever figure out if you have an apple allergy?

Ona Congrats on the 150! :carrot: I see you have 145 as your goal weight. You are so close now! Keep up the great work!

Rennie It will just take time to figure out how things are going to work for you. I have evenings that DH ate horrible, sweets, etc. The next morning it did not reflect in his blood sugar, but it showed up later in the day or the next day. It was delayed for him for some reason. Keep working it. You will figure it out. Just don't give up. Your long term health depends on you figuring this out.

AKA Hang in there! Those PMS feelings will pass, soon.

Pinksparkles Hi  Nothing wrong with maintaining. Keep up the great work!

Thanks Ona, And you are right they are not in the 200's anymore. That's a true plus :) I haven't experimented with fruit yet. I was told so far only grapefruit which I am perfectly fine with :) Thanks for the encouragement

Amanda just know that it will go down when pms/TOM leave  I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes on 5/14 and started taking Metformin on 5/21. I am trying to do the low carb way but it is not working as of yet, No matter what I do. But I'll keep chipping away at it :) I found the Arctic Zero Ice cream at Whole Foods. I know you asked Ona :D

Jennifer maintaining is much better :) Glad you're feeling better :)

Diana thank you and yes Ma'am ---> Keep working it. You will figure it out. Just don't give up. Your long term health depends on you figuring this out. You are always so uplifting for everyone ... the right reinforcement

Good morning ladies.

I'm very tired this morning; late night combined with early morning to meet the new doctor. He was very nice, sweet old man. I'm a bit worried that he'll retire in a couple of years and then not sure what I would do, but there are many doctors in that practice so I'm sure that they would take over the patients. I'm having my TSH, iron and B12 levels checked. And just to be on the safe side, having the doctoral version of a pregnancy test done to check. I should know soon.

Rennie - I'm already on medication for it, but at the lowest dosage available. If it's not working properly, it could be hindering my weight loss (this has happened in the past).

Diana - I haven't been tested for the apples yet, just sort of stopped eating them. Hopefully, if this new doctor works out then I can do a full allergy test again soon.

06-12-2012, 10:41 AM
Diana - I adapted "good luck and good strength" from a favorite chemistry professor I had in college. She always used to wish us "good luck and good skill" on our exams, and the notion has stuck with me for more than 20 years - not just that luck isn't enough, but that the something more than luck which you need, is something you have within you. (That professor also gave outrageously hard exams - often the class average score was about 50% and even the best students never aced. She always apologized when she returned the graded exams - once she even brought in an acoustic guitar and sang the class a song! She explained that she couldn't bear to make us take exams that weren't interesting, but interesting questions were hard. She did, of course, grade on a curve.)

Haha, what a strange trip down memory lane. My 20th college reunion is next year, and talking to close friends from the class ahead of me who just attended theirs has put this stuff close to the surface of my mind, I guess.

ANYWAY. I don't think I reported in yesterday. But today I have some good news, I'm down to 159, back down into the 150s for the first time since the end of March. I am still hoping that 155 - for real, not the dehydrated 155 I was on my return from India - is within striking distance this summer. The bad news is that My Fitness Pal lowered my target calories because of this loss! I'm telling you, when you're close to a healthy weight, cutting another 50-60 calories a day really hurts! ;) The margins are pretty slim.

Once again everyone - good luck and good strength!

I'm back under 140, yay! Just by a smidge but it's good enough for me.

It was a glorious day here yesterday and I went over to the Berkshires with a friend. We went to a museum, did some browsing in a few shops, visited a garden - it was lovely. We had lunch at a small cafe and I had an omelet, a piece of toast and some home fries. I also treated myself to a large ginger cookie. By the time I got home, I was feeling uncomfortably full and had to get on the bike to get my digestive system moving. I just don't get it - I ate far more than that on Saturday and never felt particularly full. I fear I've permanently damaged my "full" signal.

carter, I hear ya on the calorie allowance. Lose It knocked me down too far so I told it I wanted to lose only 1/2 pound a week. My budget is now 1500 calories, which I can just about do. (BTW, loved the story about the singing professor!)

06-12-2012, 01:46 PM
Hello Ladies, Sorry I've been MIA the last few days.. Noah is teething and has kept me super busy. I am back up to 254.8 which I did have a couple of off days but not 3 lbs worth. I did 40 mins on the elliptical at the gym this morning, and am on plan with my meals so far. I have got to get this weight off.. I am so tired of feeling so worn out all the time..
Anyways ladies, I have to get off here and get some housework done. I hope you all are having a wonderful day :)

06-12-2012, 04:09 PM
 Hello everyone! I am back from vacation and back up to 154.4. Not excited about the weight but had such a wonderful trip. I don't believe much of the weight will stick much past the next couple of days. I didn't eat terrible but there were a few really sweet items and some really salty items. I also had a carb attack at the Cracker Barrel last night for dinner, I'd never eaten the before and my mom wanted to stop because she really likes it. Good food but tons of carbs! Good luck to everyone this week!

06-12-2012, 07:04 PM
I haven't been on much, had to get ready for my great uncles funeral it was a sudden shock. Well, I'm ready to get back to work. I started my medication for my thyroid and I don't know if it is the cause of my unusual weight gain.
Today 311
I'm really upset, it took me forever to get to 305.4. I hope my medicine balance out soon. I stayed on plan so I really hope that is the cause.

06-12-2012, 07:30 PM
fbs 117 getting close to target. I like that. Weigh was 181.8 down .4 :)

Kelly where are you?

Hey Angie

Hey Ona

Diana good job on your .2 down :)

Kukkie I thought you mentioned it before but I wasn't sure. I hope your appointment goes went well and you get a better script soon.

carter Congrats on the 150's and 155 isn't hard for you to reach. You did great last year you can repeat it and you will :) Question: Does MFP automatically lower your calories when you enter your weight or do you have to go into your goals/settings and adjust things? Thanks

RuralMama, come on in the water is great :)

Steph Congrats on seeing 140, great job :) sorry about the fullness

acdamron good to see you, hope you get some rest soon

Domlacha, glad you had a good time :) That sodium will be gone in no time

Glad you enjoyed yourself steph :)

I found it in a Publix store here Aka.Don't know if you have one there but it might be in one of your higher priced grocery stores(whole foods stores) that carry specialty items.I didn't even know they carried it until i asked :o

When I entered my weight today (on my phone, as it happened), My Fitness Pal gave me a message that said something like, "You've lost more than 10 pounds since the last time you calculated your targets! We recommend recalculating your targets now." I tapped "yes" and got a new calorie target. It seemed like the right thing to do, even though I knew it would make me grumpy!

I'm up a crazy 3lbs since yesterday, so some kind of sodium reaction I suppose. Today was good, and lots of water, so hoping for better tomorrow.

Diana -- Thanks for letting me know about your exercise habits; I wish I could like it more..it comes and goes for me...right now I'm in a 'hate it' phase.

Rennie -- Sounds like you are learning the ups and downs of managing blood sugar. I'm glad you got to see the 181 :) We had a lot of fun on our outing, but I didn't get the boost from all the walking that I was hoping for...I'll hold out for a post-TOM whoosh now.

Steph -- Happy birthday! :celebrate:

Amanda

Angela -- I hope your fresh start is going well this week.

Kukkie -- Good luck with your new dr.

Ona -- :bravo::bravo: Congratulations on hitting 150!! I see you're going a little bit further, can't wait to see you make the next milestone!

Jennifer -- Hi! Which part of BC are you from?

Carter  How are things going on your own this week? Yes, I hate to have my calories cut as I lose weight, especially when you find a particularly nice routine or menu and you have to lose something from it.

Acdamron -- Good job on the elliptical!

Domlacha -- Where did you go on your trip? I'm glad it was fun!

Choukoe -- I'm sorry about your great uncle; how odd, I'm going to a funeral for my great uncle tomorrow. I'm also very sorry about your gain, I hope it will be gone again quickly for you.

Good Morning, Everyone!

We are half way to the weekend!

TTOM is still hanging on for me. Yesterday was day 10. We'll see how today goes.

Calories for yesterday: 1470 + :coffee:
Weigh In: 147.6 (TTOM)
Down: .4

06-13-2012, 10:33 AM
Morning all

Still stuck at 193.5 - it's becoming seriously frustrating.

06-13-2012, 01:25 PM
Good morning everyone! So I went a little crazy yesterday and eat well over 2475 calories and did not workout at all. So my weight is still up and tomorrow is my final weigh in of the week, I'm up more than when I started!!! Tomorrows weigh-in will suck because it'll take away my loss from last week. :( I am headed to the gym for a good workout today and I plan to reduce my calories to my low end with a lot of veggies for the day! Good luck everyone and thanks for the encouragement!

Angie, my momma and I went to Chicago to celebrate her birthday. Such a good time!

06-13-2012, 01:45 PM
Domlacha, I'm right there with you. I had another day of overeating yesterday and am back up over 140. Aargh. My weigh-in is Friday so there's still a chance to post a wee loss.

Texan, I hope you have a great time at Disney!

I don't know about you gals but, sometimes, I just get tired of the struggle. My problem with food isn't that I don't know what a portion size is or what constitutes a healthy diet. My problem is compulsion and it's just plain hard. A friend of mine has some experience with drug addicts who have worked for him and he frequently talks about how he doesn't understand why they spend all their money on crack. Compulsive overeating isn't the same, physiologically, as drug addiction but it's on the same spectrum, I think, so I'm more sympathetic than my friend. Of course it doesn't make sense to spend your whole paycheck on drugs the minute you get it, just as it doesn't make sense to keep eating long after you're full. Rationality doesn't apply here!

Anyway, that's what's on my mind today. I hope the rest of you are doing well.

06-13-2012, 01:57 PM
Down 1lb to 230.8 and got in an early morning workout. Also made it to my second mini goal! *yay* Only about 6 lbs away from my next mini goal. :)

Steph7409 I totally know where you're coming from. I regained 40lbs because of that irrational logic. I kept eating (and gaining weight) even though I knew I should stop.

06-13-2012, 06:24 PM
fbs 125 :( ridiculous because the dog woke me up at 4 and I took my bs at 4:24a.m. it was 102 ... what gives

bright note down .6 to 181.2 :)

Thanks Ona :)

Thanks carter for responding :) I went on last night and tried to adjust my carbs down to like 50 for a day. Of course when you do that it readjust everything else. I'll have to get all of this figured out and then reset my goals. It has me at losing .5 a week I think.

Amanda good job on your 1.5 down :) Amanda why did you weigh again at 3a.m. that weigh in has got to be wrong

Angie I was there. Didn't want to walk at all knowing that I need to now for my health. I don't understand how knowing something could help you and you just don't do it. smh. Thanks on the 181. Doesn't it make you mad when you workout and don't see the results  Angie I think it's more like trial and error. It's just what I do is actually showing :D

Angela have a safe trip and good job on the pound down :)

Whew Diana sorry about TOM  do you think that it is stress that caused the long periods? Good job on the .4 down :)

Kukkie how long have you been at the same weight? Hope it changes soon.

Domlacha have a good workout :)

Steph ... my issue was and may still be (along with the compulsion) once I start I keep going like the food is gonna all be gone from me. One taste (craving) leads to another and another and another until I am miserable :(

julz good job on the pound down :)

06-13-2012, 06:47 PM
lol I changed it Rennie. I could not sleep last night at all. Happens every month.

**I will love myself today. I will treat myself right.

06-13-2012, 11:29 PM
Hi Everyone!

I forgot to mention that tonight was my appointment for my haircut/color. We also went to the Japanese restaurant. I really enjoyed it! Although, I know I will have to deal with the sodium reaction and/or allergy from the soy.

Rennie My TTOM is normally long like that. I think last month it was a little shorter though. It ranges from 7 to 11 days. It hung around today, too.

06-14-2012, 08:12 AM
Good Morning, Everyone!

Ack! Things have turned ugly! I have been having a little allergic reaction all week/last weekend. My lips and mouth have been reacting and I have been taking Benadryl. Last Friday DH wanted to go somewhere "different" to eat. How many times have I said "different" is not good for me? But I understand that he gets tired of going to the same places all the time. But anyways, I have that going on, TTOM hung around yesterday, and last night we ate at the Japanese restaurant. Hopefully I will start dropping some water weight, even if it's only from TTOM.

Calories for yesterday: 1570 + :coffee:
Weigh In: 149.4 (TTOM yesterday, hopefully gone today)
Up: 1.8 pounds

06-14-2012, 12:27 PM
Hi folks, I'm still at 193.5.

Rennie I got into the 80s for the blink of an eye before my vacation, but I've been hovering around here since I've been back (two weeks ago).

06-14-2012, 01:21 PM
weight down .6 to 180.6 so I'm happy about that, but my fbs was 142 this morning. I'm gonna have to talk to the doctor if it keeps going up :( I woke up at 4:22a.m. and couldn't fully go back to sleep. I have to be at work at 1p.m. and don't get off until 9p.m. Pray for me Ladies.

Amanda lol on the early a.m. weigh in :) Sorry you couldn't sleep. I've been waking up early and then not being able to fully go back to sleep. Makes for tired days :( Love your statement at the end :)

Diana have you talked to the doctor about that? It didn't usually last that long when we first met (I first joined you on the accountability thread). We use to be neck and neck on here. That would drive me nuts :dizzy:. Hope it's it's not heavy  Wow sorry for the allergic reactions and TOM

Kukkie I'm sorry. I am awaiting my plateaus. I had so many of them or if I don't hit a plateau I go back up. Can't win sometimes  You'll get back to the 180's maybe once you find out what's going on with your thyroid

06-14-2012, 01:24 PM
Good morning folks! I went to the gym yesterday and did some weight lifting and 20minutes of light cardio. My weight this morning was 153, still up from my last end of week weigh in and up 2 lbs from my start of this week. But I still have a loss of 1.6 for the month so far. My calories were really low yesterday 1374, I was a little worried but I ate a ton, fulfilled the lots of veggies statement from yesterday! This is what I eat:
2 3/4c servings of peanut butter capn't crunch cereal (not a lot of nutrition but I love this cereal!)
1/2 c skim milk
1 nectarine

Lunch Salad w/
2c spinach
100g tomatoes
3oz carrots
133g of avocado
124g cucumber
1T papaya poppy seed dressing
8oz coconut water

1c Barley
85g Green Beans
124g yellow squash
124g zucchini
sweet mini bell peppers
veggies sauteed in 1tsp olive oil
1 light babybel cheese cut into pieces

Snacks throughout day
1 Caramel corn rice cake
133g strawberries
69g kiwi
1/2c chocolate ice cream

Hey everyone!

Steph -- Yes, I'm struggling too...I'm trying to work through it and keep myself accountable by weighing in daily.

Rennie -- Good job on your .6!

Diana -- Sorry about the gain and the reaction :(

06-14-2012, 11:25 PM
Hi Everyone!

Kukkie Hi

Rennie I hope you made it through the day, OK. I know you had to be tired. Good job on the .6! My TTOM has varied during my weight loss. I think last month it was 7 days. As soon as I think it's getting better it will go back the other way. It figures!

Domlacha Good job on getting a great workout in!

AKA Congrats on having a good day!

Angie Hi  Are you counting calories?

06-14-2012, 11:55 PM
Diana-yeah I'm counting calories now. I quit weight watchers for a while. I just lost my motivation with it and needed a change, and it's already going pretty well! WW is great, but I want to see how counting calories vs. points will effect my weight loss.

I'll probably go back once I'm closer to my goal weight. Plus MyFitnessPal is free!

06-15-2012, 08:08 AM
Good Morning  and TGIF! Have a great one!

It looks like TTOM has finally left the building! :carrot:

Calories for the day: 1470 + :coffee:

It's a beautiful morning here. I hope you're all having great weather, too.

I'm hovering around 140. I'd really like to get solidly into the 130s this month. I need to stop the snacking and start eating better. Same as it ever was!

06-15-2012, 09:42 AM
Steph Good job. You will get there! You can do it.

06-15-2012, 10:51 AM
Hello everyone :coffee:

I think I haven't checked in for a few days - sorry about that. I held at 159 for a couple of days and today bounced back up to 160. I have been on plan with both food and exercise, though, so I'm not concerned about the bounce.

I'm at my busiest time of the year at work! I've got to get cracking. I wish you all good luck and good strength today.

06-15-2012, 12:48 PM
Hi all

I felt really defeated yesterday, and in response I ate really really crappy, which doesn't help anything. I felt incredibly guilty after dinner and promptly made a salad for lunch today. Luckily (or ironically) the scale is still stuck at 193.5. I don't know whether to laugh or cry.

Happy Friday. Hope you all have a fantastic weekend.

I thought I would pass this along, in case anyone is interested. The workout program Supreme 90 is at Big Lots for $4. I bought it this week. I'm not going to do the rotation at this time. The system consists of 10 DVD's. Right now I will use them within my on going rotations. Maybe one day I will do a S90 rotation. I really think this is a good deal for a workout program that contains 10 DVD's. I think it has been compared to P90.

I'm up two pounds to 182.6. I'm not sure why other than I haven't been sleeping well and keep waking up around 4 something. I try to go back to sleep but my mind is all over the place.

Today's fbs was 127, better than yesterday. I have been nauseous most of the day and this morning I was rather light headed. I'll see how I feel tomorrow before calling/emailing my doctor. Yep I email her since the option is available

Domlacha you eat really healthy :) Good for you :)

Thanks Angie :)

Thanks Diana I think I did better yesterday than I did today. I was tired my stomach was icky and I felt like I was gonna just drop and puke any minute. Seems my yucky days on this medicine are back :(. I thought they were done. It may be that I didn't really have time to eat enough. My oldest had to be at school 30 minutes early to take a final and then I had to come back in here get the two youngest on the bus (that was late) and then to work. So it was rush rush rush. Good job on the pound down :)

Have a great weekend everyone :)

06-15-2012, 11:22 PM
Carter I hope you had a productive day.

Kukkie Hang in there. Today is a new day. Keep trying.

Rennie Lack of sleep will effect your weight and sugar levels. Also, stress can effect those numbers, too. Sorry that you didn't feel well today. DH get's that too, sometimes.

06-16-2012, 09:37 AM
Good Morning, Everyone! I hope you have a fantastic weekend!

Hello ladies!

Please forgive me for not posting all week. Not much to post....in spite of hard workouts daily and no more that 1200 cals a day, my scale hasn't moved from 164. Was REALLY hoping to hit 162...here's hoping for some movement for tomorrow!!

Take care all and keep up your great work! :D

06-16-2012, 04:16 PM
Good afternoon ladies! I was down to 152 yesterday morning but went to a neighborhood BBQ last night! I didn't do too terrible with my eating but I did have two margaritas and a mojito so my weight was up to 153.6 this morning. I hope that everyone is working hard and has a great weekend. I also made chocolate chip cookies that are only 73 calories a piece! I'm super excited about that, they are made with whole wheat flour.

Rennie, I try to eat really healthy most days, that way I don't feel bad when I have pizza or something less healthy. I have guilty if I don't get my vegetables. Thanks for noticing.

Diana, thanks for the encouragement! I'm trying to figure out what I want to do for exercise today. I'm thinking yoga and a walk.

06-16-2012, 11:17 PM
TurboLaura I know you are doing TF. Those are pretty intense workouts. Have you tried upping your calories a little?

Domlacha Did you get that workout in? ;)

06-16-2012, 11:27 PM
Okay, so I'm down about 5lbs from 2 days ago, but I had pizza for dinner and I'm expecting more 'fun with sodium' tomorrow.

Diana -- I am counting calories and generally manage to stay around 1500 or less per day, but I'm not following any other kind of plan closely enough...I think that's the problem. Just counting calories, but not limiting carbs or sodium has never worked for me. I've done well in the last couple of days, but we went to a friend's for dinner and had pizza with ice cream sandwiches for dessert -- I ate it all *sigh*. Back on track tomorrow though.

Rennie -- I'm sorry about the gain! I hope you get some better sleep this weekend.

 to everyone else!

Hey Diana, I did get my workout in today. I took a long while to decide to get out there, I was a little bloated and sluggish, TOM started today. But I am glad I did! I went for a run today and ran the furthest I've ever gone in one session. I completed 6.13 miles in 57:59! But in high school when I use to run almost everyday I'd usually only go 5 miles at a time, I was a lot faster then, but this was amazing for me. I just started and felt like I could keep going. :D

Good Morning  Happy Father's Day! I hope you enjoy the time you spend with your family today. :grouphug:

I think I have gotten rid of some water weight this morning. I woke up feeling less bloated.

Calories for yesterday: 1575 + :coffee:
Weigh In: 147
Down: 1.4 pounds

Domlacha Fantastic job on the run! I'm not a runner, but I ran one time. :D I ran 6 miles on Thanksgiving day and it felt fantastic. I would like to take up running, but there are not many running/jogging/walking areas close to me. Keep up the great work!

Hi folks. :coffee:

Hello envelope, welcome to the thread. This is a great thread - not just because checking in daily is helpful, but also because the regulars are a bunch of smart, kind people.

Diana - glad the bloating is subsiding. It must be so frustrating to have problems with that when you have already worked so hard to be conscientious about avoiding soy.

Domlacha - that is an impressive run, a good sight better than my best. I was just starting to get into running late last year and early this year, but lately I've switched my focus back to weight lifting. I can't focus on both at one time so I just pick whichever one I feel more like doing and let myself focus on that for a while! The best exercise is the one you want to do, right? ;)

Angie - enjoy the whoosh while it lasts. ;). It's good to be prepared for the bounces, though - makes them hurt a little less when they happen.

Okay, my report - I was happy to see 158 yesterday, matching the lowest number I consider a "real" low. (I have seen as low as 155, but it was after a long trip and bounced up very quickly, so I think it was dehydration more than real fat loss.) that was good - nice to see that by focusing on my eating for a few weeks, I can still get results. I'm in the realm of very old, very stubborn pounds here - it takes a lot more focus to get them off than it did 100 pounds ago!

Anyway yesterday was not a great food day - overrate some, on fruit and Indian hot mix while watching movies with a friend. So, no surprise today, bounce back up to 159. I'm okay with it.

Things are still emotionally rocky around here. Will be for a while, I think - big life changes are happening and the process is slow and painful. My long-term goal is not to lose sight of my weight-loss and fitness efforts while that is happening.

Good luck and good strength, everyone.

190.0 I'm so very close to that new decade! I would probly be there if I had eaten less this week. I'm having a hard time adjusting to my new job as far as my diet is concerned. I'm not used to going 4-5 hrs between meals so when I do finally eat, I'm "starving".
I miss you ladies so much! I wish I had time to go through the thread to catch up :(
I hope everyone is doing well!

Angie Good job on the 5 pounds. Just keep trying. It's so hard. I think the big thing is to stick to "your" plan 90-95% of the time. Maybe allow the off plan foods once a week, once every two weeks, or once a month. Try something like this and see how it goes.

Envelope Hi and Welcome to the check-in!

Carter Great job in staying in the 150's. I like how you are being straight forward with what's going on in your life. You are acknowledging that things are difficult, but you don't want to lose sight of your goals. My long-term goal is not to lose sight of my weight-loss and fitness efforts while that is happening. So many times people allow things to derail them. Great job in keeping this focus.

QT Great job on the 190! :carrot:

Hello, all!

Kelly, congrats on the 190! So close to a new decade, good work! And speaking of work, I'm sure you'll adjust to the new schedule. New jobs are so stressful, it takes a while to get acclimated.

Carter, I'm with Diana on applauding your attitude. It's so easy to use emotional upheaval as an excuse to go back to our old ways of using food as comfort/numbing/whatever. A friendship of mine went massively pear-shaped last December and I was devastated, but also proud of myself for not trying to binge away the pain.

Angie, yay on the 5 pounds! I was thinking of you yesterday - I went nursery hopping and bought more than a dozen new perennials. Then I spent hours in the garden, ripping out things (day lilies - pretty, but they take up too much space) and planting the new stuff. It's a good thing my neighbors weren't around, as I do a lot of talking to myself when I'm out there.

Rennie, I hope you get settled with the new meds and get some sleep.

Domlacha, I'm trying to get up to a 6 mile walk (I'm almost there), so 6 miles of running astounds me. Good work!

I'm a smidge under 140 today, which surprises me since I ate too much yesterday. I had lunch with my father and splurged on a cheeseburger (but no bun!) and french fries. That was pretty much all I had all day, but I did some mindless snacking last night, for no particular reason. Oh well.

Here's hoping we all have a good week!

06-17-2012, 02:07 PM
Made it to 219 on an official weigh in day finally! Officially in the two-teens! Yay!

This upcoming week is going to be a challenge. I'm going on a 3-day liveaboard scuba diving trip where I'll be hungry from all the diving and the food will be delicious and plentiful. I'm prepared to show a small gain, because I do want to have a good time and enjoy the food :)

06-17-2012, 07:56 PM
my fbs numbers haven't been great. My weight is back up to 182.4, TOM came a week early so that's a bummer. No cramps yet though. I'm sure they'll hit when I have to be at work at 7a.m. yay me.

Thanks Diana, I remember you says that your husband has days where he just doesn't feel well. I actually thought I had passed that point. Yesterday I felt fine all day. Did a ton of unplanned eating but felt ok. We had a lot going on. I don't know if I mentioned it or not. Chelle will wed on 6/26. It will be a small wedding but I still want everyone to look decent. So we went to Goodwill to see what we could find. I found two nice dresses for me and one for Rissa. I need to get this belly to go down some though ;). So the stress is here :) Nice job on the 1.4lbs down :high:

Domlacha, I had a truly off plan day yesterday. The first full off plan since my diagnoses. We had a marriage function at church and not one thing was what I should have been eating. My husband said, "Don't worry about it, it's one day, don't feel bad." That made me smile :) I need to find some things to take with me to work, that I actually want to sit down and eat. I'm tired of the same ole things and most things are so salty to me (processed). smh ... Great job on your run, WTG :high:

Thanks Angie, Nice loss 5lbs GONE :high: I know it's the stresses of life that are keeping me awake. Every time I think we have moved past something, something else comes up. I almost feel as if I am just over powered by every thing. The kids are out of school and all they keep talking about is where they want to go and what they want to do. They just got out of school on Friday. :) I'm trying to think of things we can do but whew with two being charged as adults is costly :). I'll figure out something for them to do.

envelope, welcome back good to see you :)

carter

Kelly I feel you it is the same here with working. I don't know if I'll ever get it right. :)

Thanks Steph, sounds like most of us had an off plan eating day yesterday :). But at least you spent some quality time with your Dad, that's great :)

Underwater, congrats on getting to the two-teenw and enjoy yourself on your trip :)

06-17-2012, 11:16 PM
Hi Everyone!

We grilled out tonight to celebrate Father's Day. Neither of our Dad's are with us any longer. When they were alive, they both had a love of good food. It felt appropriate to celebrate in good fashion, the love we still have for our Dad's and all of our love for good food.

Here's the funny thing. I ate off plan, but I still watched what I ate. I measured everything and counted all the calories. It still amazes me how many calories are in food. My total calories for the day was approx 1925 + :coffee2: The high calorie foods are those heavy on the carbs. I had a baked potato and a dinner roll with my meal. Those calorie dense foods really add up.

Steph It looks like you may be snacking, but you are still keeping things in moderation. That's good! :carrot:

Underwater Great job on your weigh in!

Rennie I didn't see a previous post about Chelle getting married! Congrats are in order! Are you happy? Sad? Happy/Sad? All the above and more? Stressed? :yikes: Freaked out! :fr: You will have to share pictures and tell us all about the plans. :D We want to hear all about it and the emotions involved. Just get it all out! :D

Hey everyone  I had an alright day today. I felt like I made pretty good food choices but I still ate around 2050 calories today, which is under my maintenance but will not help the scale go down :(. The run was pretty amazing for me, I'm still telling everyone I actually completed it. I started running the summer in between my freshmen and sophomore years of high school. I'd managed to gain 33 lbs during my freshmen year. Running became a way for me to relieve stress and relax. I ran 5 miles nearly everyday and averaged about an 8 minute mile, sometimes less sometimes a little more. I absolutely loved it. I joined to military after high school and ended up with a back injury that stopped me from running for a very long time. Over the years I have slowly gotten back into it. Maybe about 2 1/2 to 3 years ago I really started to run again, I don't love it as much but I still find a joy in it. I usually only run 2 to 4.5 miles a few times a week. So last night was amazing.

Steph, Keep up with the walking. I love walking and a coworker and I always do long walks together. You totally feel it after!

Carter, It is definitely good to get in whatever exercise your body is willing to do!

Rennie, Off plan days happen , you enjoy them when they come and work hard to get back on plan. Changing your entire eating takes time and is hard work but you'll get it. For me it was definitely finding things that I enjoyed eating that I could take with me where every I went. I am more of a grazer during the day. I have a hard time sitting down and eating a meal, I like to snack, so I try to plan my meals/snacks in a way that I am getting all the nutrition I need and that are easy to be "broken" down into snacky sizes. :)

Long time no see, everyone!

I went home this weekend and struggled a LOT with eating. Lots of temptation because of birthdays and grad parties, but I stayed at maintenance calories. I'm feeling super sluggish and bloated from eating foods that I don't normally have+alcohol. Definitely saw the consequences of that on the scale, but back on plan tomorrow!

Since I go grocery shopping weekly, I've decided to try a vegetable I've never had every time I go for the rest of the summer. Today it was kale! A friend sent me a recipe for kale chips, but do you guys have any interesting ways to prepare it? I tried a bit of a leaf while I was making dinner, and it seemed a little bitter, but otherwise okay!

I ALSO saw some tofu noodles at the store too, I think they were called shiriyaki (something like that) They were only 25 calories for half the bag. I grabbed some unsweetened vanilla almond milk to try, too. My family had 1% milk at home and I had a bit of it over the weekend and it made me feel a bit ill. I normally have skim in my cereal (but I don't drink the milk.. just pour it onto the cereal to soften it a bit and then drain-weird, I know.) but I thought I would try this instead!

Happy new week to everyone!

last week was crazy, really had a lot going on(no time for the Internet).Up 2.2 to 152.2. Most of which is sodium retention and in need of a BM.Watched what i ate but definitely could have done better, especially with that after 5pm snacking Demon coming out at the slightest glimpse of weakness. New day,New week,New fight and focused.

Yay, Kukkie! Good job on hanging in there.

Diana, thanks for the confidence and support. I feel like I've got fairly good control of my eating but I always worry, since I know myself pretty well. Yesterday, I went food shopping and kept picking things up and then saying (sometimes out loud!) "no, stop it." I knew I was just in the mood to buy things (I had to tell myself "no" at Target, too - I don't need a new wok pan when I've got a perfectly good deep pan to stir fry in!). I just can't afford everything I want, either financially or eating-wise.

I weighed in at 139.4 this morning, so I'm happy about that.

Hey everyone! We had a beautiful Sunday here, it was supposed to rain, but it didn't and we took full advantage. The best part was going on a walk and a picnic with Cameron :) We went to whole foods and picked some nice healthy things to bring along with us. I never thought I'd see the day when I'd say to Cameron 'finish eating your chicken before you have more soy crisps'

Diana -- Good job on your 1.4 yesterday! I'm trying something new, I feel like I have to change things up a bit. I read Bob Harper's new book The Skinny Rules, and I like what he's saying -- it's very close to some of the things I've done (that worked) in the past, with a few new ideas too. Rather than no/low carb he's advocating whole grains and just not later in the day...protein with every meal (that works for me) -- a lot of things that we talk about in here that seem to work for people. He's made a nice collection of sensible rules -- drink water, weigh daily, eat protein, be careful with carbs...it feels like something I can do.

Carter -- You called it, after my 5lb whoosh I had a 2lb bounce..lol. I've been on track for a few days though so I'm hoping for good results this week. I'm wishing you the strength you need to deal with the emotional turmoil in your life

Kelly -- Good job on the 190! You are doing great with all the stress of the new job...good for you!

Steph -- I've been neglecting my garden for a couple of weekends, I still need to add a few more plants. I've been waiting for some other interesting plants to hit the garden centre. I'd like some hollyhocks and some foxglove too to round things out a bit. You are getting pretty close to your goal, good job!

Rennie -- We spent a great day on a picnic yesterday, just brought baseball gloves and a ball, went exploring in a forest and had a lunch we brought with us. My favorite place to buy picnic food that is somewhat healthy is at Subway -- Cameron and I usually share a $5 cold cut combo sub on whole wheat with lots of veggies -- can't beat that deal, and it's really filling! Do you have splashpads there? We have them in many parks, it's just a sprinkler area, but kids of all ages seem to love them, and they are free (here anyway). http://www.mumsnchums.com/blog/summer-2011-splash-pad-guide Can't wait to see pics of the wedding!

Ona -- I've been fighting the snacking demon too...it's tough! I hope you shed your 2lbs quickly.

Kukkie -- Congrats on your .9!

Amanda -- You are right there again, bust on through 200 and stay put please! :cheer:

Hi everyone! I missed you guys! :grouphug:

Well I'm back from Paris. I was up 3.2 lbs when I got back. After drinking 100 ounces of water yesterday and getting back on plan, I'm back to 175.2 today. I was way off plan while there, but luckily I didn't gain too much.

I really wanted to try this Parisian Crepe Cafe that was near our hotel. I could see people's plates who were eating outside... yum! It was so packed when we went on Saturday that the wait would have been forever so we decided to try to go back on Sunday instead. It was closed when we went back, so I guess that was a blessing in disguise. Long story short... I didn't get a crepe.

Hope everyone had a nice weekend and is having an on plan week.
