Default 100 Pushups / 200 Sit-ups / 200 Squats Challenge

Anyone else doing these challenges? I've come across the websites more than once and just never committed to the programs. This time I'm ready to push myself and see what I can accomplish though! I did the initial tests today for all three. My results: 16 "Girl" pushups, 55 sit-ups, and 20 squats. I've got a ways to go, but I'm excited to see an improvement. Anyone else in? I'll be tracking my progress for all three at: http://pushupslogger.com !

I imagine any of this could be motivating, but I do want to caution you that some spine researchers advise NOT doing sit ups. You might want to look up the work of Stuart (Stewart?) McGill from the University of Waterloo. He believes that situps hurt the spine and recommends other, simpler approaches to developing the core muscles--in particular, do planks.

I'm doing the pushups and tricep dips! I have 2 bad shoulders so I'm taking it slow but it's working! I started with the first column because I've been doing the "girl pushups" for a few months and wanted to challenge myself (and my shoulders) Doc says as long as I take it slow, it will help them! I'm way excited! always wanted to have strong shoulders and once I get rid of that flab under the arm, I'd love to be able to see that tricep muscle underneath!!! Good luck!

Hmmmmmm, tried these once before and had trouble with my shoulders. I’ve heard of doing p/u’s against a wall or bench to put less pressure on shoulder joints. I think I’ll start with that... OK, just talked myself into it while typing... I’m in!!

I’ll do the test today

I do planks instead of pushups. Although, on occasion, I will do the girl push ups. The crunches I can do tons of. The squats I'm nervous about b/c I don't need a blown-out knee, lol.

My instructor says 1 real push-up is = to 10 girly ones. I don't have the arm strength right now to do it. I am not a big fan of doing lots of sit-ups at a time yet, I think it is a core exercise that should be done in moderation. I can do 60 squats in sets of 10. With the squats I have had no knee or join pain. I think if you do them right with breaks there shouldn't be a problem.

Thank you for posting this here. It's good info for anyone who intends to go into this challenge. I should've mentioned though that I'm not actually doing sit-ups, but crunches or "curls". The website actually states on their "what is a sit-up" section that they do not suggest you actually do sit-ups, but rather crunches, as sit-ups can be damaging to the spine. They also have some disclaimer about the header image not being an accurate example of what type of form you should have, lol. Thank you again though for bringing this to everyone's attention.

I'm in! I need something that's easy to do while I'm staying with family for the next month, and on vacation. This looks perfect!

I tried the 100 push-ups challenge but stopped after a couple of weeks. No real reason, just kind of got distracted doing other things. It got pretty hard pretty fast, but I've been doing a lot more push-ups recently so I might have a better shot now. How bada$$ would it be to bust out 100 push-ups?! I can barely do 10!

I'm in- off to do the test!

Haha! My instructor challenged me to do 7 push ups in september. Then after testing me yesterday he brought the number back down to 5. I can't imagine ever doing more than 10. I'm a complete wreck where it's arm muscles concerned.
