Default Nutty question

I know we are allowed 15 walnuts per day but have the following questions:

1) Is that 15 halfs or 15 whole walnuts?

2) Does someone know what 15 (either half or whole) walnuts (chopped) equal in ounces? I would do it myself but don't have any whole walnuts as I buy mine finely chopped.

Hey TallandThin! From what I've seen 1 oz = 14 walnut halves. That's 185 calories and 18.5g fat. I'm not positive, but I would guess they mean 15 halves. I always wondered that about pecans, myself, but have stuck with almonds regardless.

I googled '1 serving walnuts' and it says "1 oz or 12 - 14 walnut halves".

So I guess that would be 15 halves for SBD.

I forget what it is for each kind of nut, or for walnuts in particular...but kitchen scales are super convenient and the analog kind will only run a couple bucks (cheaper at garage sales/thrift stores!).

I just checked my WW e-tools really quick. According to them, 1 serving of walnuts is 14 halves (i.e. 14 full pieces that each look like a little brain, cuz sometimes they get broken up smaller than that), which is also equivalent points-wise to 1 oz.

I typically eat mixed nuts and measure out a 1/4 cup. Its easier for me being a busy college student. I have found that the 1/4 cup keeps me not feeling that "hungry" feeling between breakfast and lunch.
