Marine Corps Ball
I recently attended the Marine Corps Ball with my daughter and son-in-law in Myrtle Beach, SC. Only one other time in my life have I worn a formal and that was at my heaviest weight. I didn't go to my high school prom and the very few high school dances I went to were very casual events. When my daughter got married I had a regular dress - nothing fancy. This event was so totally out of my comfort zone - fancy (strapless) dress, an "up-do" for the first time ever and lots of good looking men in uniform - lol.
When I went shopping for a dress (September 1) I had no intention of even looking at strapless dresses (I knew I wanted red or black). The sales consultant asked me to humor her and try on this dress. I loved it. "This" dress was too small at that point and it took two people (and me holding my breath) to zip it so I ordered the next size up. When it came in two weeks later it was too big and the smaller dress, although still too small, was fitting better and only took one person to zip it. I ended up exchanging the dress I ordered for the smaller one. By the time the ball came (Nov. 6) I had lost an additional 10 lbs and several inches and had to have the smaller dress taken in . . . twice. I told my son-in-law I hope I get the opportunity to go again next year because I will be at my goal weight by then.
I am less than 40 lbs from my initial goal and have kind of stalled out - time to "stand up and finish what I started."
