Good Monday Morning to you all!!! Today is the first day of my vacation. Not much of a vacation home alone with 6 kids but i am getting ready to put them to work so we will see.

I lost 1.9 pounds so i am happy about that it was not a good week for food choices so I am glad it showed a loss.

hope everyone has a great monday!!!

My original WI day was Monday, but I am thinking of switching to Tuesday so that I have Monday to detox! Weekends are really tough for me.

My father in law had a quadruple bypass this past week, so between hospital trips and watching the grandkids, I haven't been POP. I've gotten my water in and more each day and managed to exercise 5 days. I lost 2.5 lbs, so that is good!

Have a great day guys!

Amy - sorry to hear about your FIL, hope everything went ok...

AmyM - Good luck with getting 6 kids to "help", maybe you're better at it than I am, but I swear mine laugh at me when I give them stuff to do...

My oldest son has been asking to go walking with me and I promised him that we would go this weekend, so after Saturday passed and then Sunday came and went, we were out there walking at 9pm last night... I felt so good that we actually got it in after the food weekend that I had!!!

We have 2 days of funeral stuff starting today, (my DH's uncle passed last week) so the food outlook doesn't look good there either and I'm trying to figure out when I'm going to be able to exercise!!! Oh well, I'll pick it up again on Wednesday and just work hard the rest of the week...

Hi all! I spent the weekend at my parents....and something about being there makes me want to eat all the time lol...but with the exception of a couple things I did pretty good! I may not be POP on the weekends yet but I am definitely getting better. I am counting the points and being aware of how much I take in on the weekends now and I now know why I gained so much on weekends before! lol

Good morning everyone. Well I gained a few pounds over the weekend. I felt just terrible about it when I got on the scale this morning.
Today I have my little food notebook with me and I am going to write down every single thing that goes in my mouth. I am back on the plan! I am going to Vegas for four days the middle of July and I would love to shop but I really want to get down one size. My goal is to be a size 10 before I leave.I have 3 weeks to get to my goal. I need to exercise a minimum of 3 days a week.
Today is a new day!!!...
I find it really hard to keep on track now that I don't go to a centre and weigh in but you guys are all going to be my motivation okay? Thanks!!!
Have a great Monday!

hello all..this week is going to be a rough one for me. DH is doing army stuff again all this week, but will be gone from 7am-9pm every day. which means its just me and baby X...with no breaks. gosh i hope that she cuts me some slack. ha. she is sleeping longer now, between 4-5hrs at a time. of course i have to hold her to get her to fall asleep in the first place, but once she's out, it's a good thing! :)

ok, gonna finish eating my veggie lentil soup and then hope to squeeze a workout in yet today!

Hi everyone :) Well here's the deal. My doctor and my naturopath have both recommended a low carb diet because of some medical issues I am having. And I've started to see improvement within days of cutting out the starches and sugars. So I think they're right and it's the best thing for me. And I lost 4 pounds this past week - I'm losing weight, I'm not hungry all the time, I have more energy, and the skin rashes I had are almost clear...I can't complain. Hubby is still on LAWL red plan and doing fine. Anyway, I really like the level of support in this forum and since I'm still responsible for feeding someone who is actively on an LAWL program I hope you won't mind if I continue to hang out here?

I did something new and good for me over the weekend. I went to a party Saturday and I made and took some chocolate banana bread for others to enjoy (I hear it was very good), but I also fixed a big veggie tray with some dip so I would be sure there was something I could eat. It had zucchini slices, red green and yellow pepper sticks, and celery sticks, along with some baby carrots (those were for others - not on my plan at this time, but I may be able to add it back in later). I figured being prepared was the best way for me to avoid temptation, and it worked. It turned out someone brought shredded pork and they had BBQ sauce on the side for those who wanted, so I just had the plain pork and veggies. It was delicious, and I didn't derail myself like I normally would at parties which is definitely a new experience for me! I will eventually be expanding the variety of vegetables, fruits, nuts and legumes I have in my diet but may never be able to add some things such as sweets, pasta, bread and potatoes back into my diet. The pasta is the hardest part for me, so I'm going to try making myself some spaghetti squash with the Progresso white clam sauce (love that stuff) and see how that turns out....if that works I think we may have something I can live with.

Amy/Mommyofsix - congrats on the 1.9 pound loss! You're making great progress. (And by the way, I absolutely hated it when my mom was on vacation and would put us to work...I figured if she was on vacation then we all should be on vacation ;) )

Amy/JerseyMadchen - congrats on the 2.5 pound loss! It's always a stressful time when a family member is having such a serious surgery so it's even more impressive that you did so well under those circumstances. Hope your FIL has a speedy recovery.

Julie/jewljz - that is very cool that your oldest son wants to go walking with you! And sorry about your DH's uncle passing. Funerals are definitely a hard time to exercise and stay POP, but I'm sure you'll be right back on track afterwards.

Kristinx - becoming more aware of our behaviors and the things that trigger our overeating is a very important step and I think it's wonderful that you're continuing to do better. Keep up the good work!

Joan/Hoochie - Sounds like you will be in Vegas a couple weeks before we are there. Carrying your notebook with you and logging your food intake is a great way to get back on track and your goal of being a size smaller by Vegas is definitely within your reach if you stay on plan!

Jillian/JLem311 - Hope you are able to get a little rest and relaxation while your hubby is out doing army stuff. I was a military wife for 20 years and I remember how hard it was at times - hang in there!

Hope everyone is having a fabulous Monday!

Hi all!
Suzanne, I really do like the spaghetti squash for spaghetti! I have made it with stewed tomatoes and ground turkey and a whole lot of oregano and garlic and it is delish. I don't know if the stewed tomatoes are OK with your low carb plan. I'd like it if you told us how you are doing with your low carb plan. I'm always interested to hear what works for others and why they think it does. Since in the end we all have tailor any diet to ourselves and our own personal situations.

Okay. This week? We're going on a diet. All of us. But this is a diet of a different kind. We're going to regulate the habit of unhappiness.

I copied and pasted this from twitter.........from John Mayer......I just loved it and wanted to share it with you :)

Hi Everybody. Haven't posted here for a while so thought I'l pop in.

Jillian - Baby X is a doll!! So glad you got some sleep. Maybe this will be a new trend with her and she'll do it more than one night.

Kristen - Congrats on the engagement.

Nicole - I love the post from Twitter. It sort of puts things into a better perspective doesn't it.

Dan - Snap out of it!!

For those I've missed, I'm sorry. I'll try to post here a little more often. Have a good Tuesday everyone.

Amy, I suppose it is slow. I'm motivated to try to shape up and look good for summer though (and my 30 year high school reunion which is in 2 weeks)

Jillian, How wonderful that you got to sleep and exercise and even shower!

Nicole, I do think we have a lot more control over our own personal happiness than we think we do. Often we decide to dwell on past hurts or disappointments instead of putting them aside and embracing the joy of the here and now. Here and now the sun is shining, I'm healthy, and have more food than I really need to eat, a soft bed to sleep in and the company of many lovely people to entertain and amuse me. Life is good.

I just can't wait to exercise again! Being injured is soooo boring! That combined with the constant cloud and rain here is making me sad!
But...still on plan! Hoping for a good loss this week!
Then I am taking Friday off...getting some industrial size garbage bag and just going through my house throwing stuff out! I can't wait!

Well yesterday I stuck to my plan. I didn't get my walk in but at least I ate right and got all my water in. I feel really good today. I brought lots of fruit and veggies to work today for snacks and they seem to hit the spot. I think I am going to try really hard to stick to my food plan this week.

Barbara- Wow a 30 yr reunion sounds like fun. I had a 10 year and then nobody planned a 20 year so I guess nobody will plan a 30 year either. I hope you have fun.

Jillian- Good to hear you got some extra sleep in. hoorah!!

Nicole- Thanks for the twitter. It's easy to get busy and let so many things make a persons day unhappy. Last week when I was at Starbucks, I was given a little pop up card. They were handing them out to everyone. Mine said: Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle" I really hit me that day because I was so mad at some of my employees. Anyways it's good to have little reminders sometimes.

Kristin- How long till you are going to be better? Hopefully you will be better for the summer so you can enjoy some outdoor activity. In the meantime, I bet your looking thru bridal magazines eh!

Okay I have to run, talk to you all soon. Sorry to those I missed.

good morning all. well, i got up at 5am again to workout. :) yay me! the scale isn't budging, but i'm trying not to focus on that. i'm journaling, eating well, drinking all my water and then some and now exercising. the scale will come. my main concern is getting back into my "bigger" jeans that i never got rid of (i'm thanking myself for that now!) so that's it.

baby X slept from midnight to 5am, so that's good too. it's storming again this morning and is going to be another warm and humid day.

be back later! hope everyone is having a good week.

and HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO KATIE!!!

I'm always interested to hear what works for others and why they think it does. Since in the end we all have tailor any diet to ourselves and our own personal situations.

That does sound yummy with the ground turkey and stewed tomatoes! And yes, the stewed tomatoes are fine -- if my carb count is a bit high for the day I may substitute diced tomatoes because they're slightly lower, but overall I have no problem with the stewed tomatoes. How I am doing my plan is mainly I'm cutting out wheat and sugar. I have some full fat dairy, but not a lot of it. I have meat (usually grilled, or sometimes browned then cooked in the pressure cooker), but not excessive amounts of it. And I eat a lot of vegetables! I am in love with grilled cauliflower, and I frequently snack on raw zucchini slices. Raw pepper strips are also a favorite. And, of course, the eternal nod to garden salads. Breakfast is usually bacon and eggs, or sausage patties and eggs, and I don't get hungry like I used to. I also have some coconut oil in my coffee. So far, so good :)

One of the more challenging things for me is getting past a sugar craving -- a lot of people watching their carbs will substitute Splenda for sugar, but I can't because I'm allergic to Splenda (and even if I wasn't I'm not sure I'd want to put that stuff in my body). So the solution so far is to fix myself a "rootbeer float" -- that's a couple TBSP of heavy cream in a glass topped with diet rootbeer. Does the trick for me, although I'm not too keen on the aspartame in the diet soda and, as a result, I limit these treats. Eventually I will replace that with lower carb fruits such as berries, cantaloupe and grapefruit.

I also drink lots of water (in the neighborhood of 150 to 200 oz. daily).

I was doing so good till after work last night. The neighbors asked me to come hang out and have a few beers...and seeing as we are somewhat newbies in town and don't know many people I felt I should go be social...and a few beer turned into 5 or 6 I think...and not even light beer! The scale still showed a small loss today from yesterday but I'm sure I'll pay for the splurge.

Oh well, back on track today...and at least after the beer I didn't snack! Just off to bed I went!

Suzanne - 200 oz of water??? DANG! I pat myself on the back when I can get in 64 oz, and I feel ok about myself when I can get 32 oz in! 200 oz, I might need one of those bag thingies so that I wouldn't wear a path to the restroom!

We went to a funeral yesterday and that was so draining! I was exhausted, and still am, but will still be doing spin class at noon - hopefully it perks me up some.

I started drinking protein shakes for breakfast and have an idea that maybe my DH will like them and I can make them for him for dinner... he gets home really late and really shouldn't be eating when he gets home because I know he's eaten plenty during the day, but its just a habit for him. If I don't cook for him, he will rummage through the cabinets and end up doing more harm than if I just make him a darn salad so that he doesn't rummage. Dan – I know if you are reading you are saying “don’t have bad stuff in the cabinets”, but I really don’t have bad stuff, I just think it’s really unhealthy for him to eat a sandwich and then popcorn, and then ice cream (no matter how low-fat it is), and then eat whatever leftovers the kids didn’t eat! Sometimes I feel as if he thinks he’s starving!!!

Have you tried Stevia as a sweetener? It is an herb, you can even buy it organically. I grew a bunch last summer, and just crush a half of a leaf and add to tea. You can buy it in a powder or liquid. I like it, and have not ever had a reaction to it.

Just a side note about Splenda, I went to a health conference about 18
months ago, and went to the class of a chemist who was talking about toxins
in food. He said that splenda is only one molecule away from being chlorine. That is when I broke up with splenda, LOL.

Hey guys!

Katie- Happy Birthday!!!:bday2:

Laurie- hello again!!

Barbara- have fun at your reunion! There's no way I am ever going to mine. HS is SOOO over for me!!

Kristin- hang in there! THe weather has GOT to get better! It was miserable for about 2 weeks here in VA,and it's been gorgeous all this week. Hope your ankle is healing well!

Joan- good job with being OP! And kudos to you for packing healthy snacks!

Jillian- congrats on your workout and being OP! THe scale will move!!

Suzanne- good luck with your new plan! And with all that WATER!!!

Well, any of you guys watch Ruby on the Style network? If not, it's really uplifting! It's about a woman who was once over 700lbs, started this weightloss challenge at 477, and has lost over 100lbs. She's soooo sweet too. THe second season airs July 5th.

Anyways,my point is on the wrap up of season One, they showed a motivational tool that I LOVE! She has two glass vases, one with tons of pretty little rocks in, and the other empty. She takes one rock for every pound she loses and puts it into the empty one. I stole that idea and can't wait to implement it.

I went to Michael's and got pretty rocks and two square clear vases. I will upload a picture, but it's super motivating! It's a VISUAL and is good for days we fall off the wagon or just want to see our progress.

Have a great night gusy!!

Morning LAWL'ers!

I got on the scale last week to discover that I was right back to the weight I was when I started three years ago :(
So while I was on my way home from work yesterday afternoon, my plan was to lay on the couch and continue to feel bad. But instead I remembered that comcast's on demand channel has free workouts. So I got off my butt and did a 10 minute pilates ab workout then checked out the Leslie Sansone walk program. I did her one mile workout and I love it. It was a workout! :carrot:

Since my DBF is gone until late tonight, I'll be hitting my "home gym" when I get home again this afternoon. Since I'm not working my part time job in the afternoons for a while, and DBF doesn't get home from work until between 5 - 6 some days, I really have no excuse not to get moving.

The on demand is great because they have so many different workouts to choose from - and they're free!!

I'm using The Daily Plate to track my calories but getting back on the Gold LAWL plan with Luna's. I think I'm going to do a take off this weekend, it's always easier for me to do a take off during the weekend than during the week.

I've been reading your posts, as I do everyday - I'm glad you are doing well!

Ugh, my scale is not moving. But to be fair, I can't exercise and I am trying to quit smoking...I've cut down a lot and this weekend I am done! Friggin waste of money and making me feel like crap all the time. And this time around DF is quitting too so should be much easier if we both do! I wish I could exercise at least to help me get through the quitting...so boring....so tommorrow I am gonna keep busy with some cleaning...major cleaning!

Morning everyone! Thanks for all of the birthday wishes, both here and on FB! We watched Beverly Hills Chihauhaus for my birthday last night. My kids were really mad at our Chihauhau, Skippyjon Jones, because all he wanted to do was sleep under the blanket, and would not watch the movie. It was pretty funny. I am working hard to get a good Wii fit workout in everyday, also I have cut way back on carbs. My clothes do fit better, so I am glad for that, and I think I will just keep track of how the clothes feel for awhile before I start weighing. Too stressful!

Have a good day everyone!

Wearing out a path to the bathroom isn't much of a problem for me. My cells have some difficulty absorbing water, so my naturopath told me to add sea salt to my water to help with that problem, but I don't like the way that tastes so I just upped my intake instead. I have to be really careful because I get dehydrated so easily.

I haven't tried Stevia. I was thinking about using xylitol until I found out it was lethal to dogs - don't want to risk having that in my house and them getting ahold of it. I'll have to do some reading about the Stevia and see if that'll be a possibility for me. I've heard a lot of good things about it, so I'm hopeful.

And thanks for reminding me what it was about Splenda that made me want to stay away from it -- I'd heard that before but had forgotten the specifics. Hard to believe the FDA actually approves some of this stuff.

Great decision to check out the on demand workouts instead of being a couch potato! One thing I like about the on demand workouts is that they usually have a good selection of dance ones and I think those are fun. I haven't tried the Leslie Sansone walk program yet -- still trying to wrap my head around what this would look like indoors :) I actually have one of her DVDs....should probably break it out of the wrapper and give it a try. Which I guess proves the point that a person can have all the tools they want but they're useless until the person USES them, right?

Congrats on the quitting smoking! I quit smoking 8 years ago and am so glad I did. This is even more important to health than losing weight, so don't stress too much about the scale not moving yet. If nothing else, just try to maintain -- the weight will eventually start coming off again!

Morning everyone. Well last night I did 10 minutes of weights and then went for a 40 minute walk. I slept like a baby last night. I have had 3 nights in a row of exercise and I have eaten healthy all week. It feels really good and it hasnt been too hard getting back on plan.
Tonight I am not working out but I am taking my niece shopping so I am sure she will have me trucking all over that mall. She is here visiting me from a small town so city shopping is amazing for her.
Kristin- Good for you to try to quit smoking. I quit around six or seven years ago. I did it cold turkey. It was the hardest thing that I ever did in my life. When I struggle with my diet, I never quit because I remember how many times I tried to quit smoking and one day it just worked for me. I feel that one day I am just going to say goodbye to crappy food forever. It's like teaching yourself to eat again and enjoy all the awesome healthy foods that are out there for us. I know you are a motivated person especially since you were doing a 30 day wii challenge...I say kudos to you!
I hope everyone has an awesome day!

morning all.
just thought i'd stop by and say hi. it's gonna be another hot and humid day here today. i skipped out on DD's t-ball game on tues because it was just too hot to take baby X out and i'm thinking it's gonna be the same tonight too. sucks, because i hate disappointing DD by not being there. but i just think that 90's an high humidity is too much for a 2 month old. idk, maybe it's just me..opinions?

anyways..i got a great ab and arm workout in today and have been doing great with being on plan and getting all my water in. i don't really even care what the scale says, i just want to fit back into my clothes!!!!!! ugh, it's all i want.

anyways, that's it for me right now. be back later.

I love it.......i am so going to do it :)

Oh, congrats, Kristin, on quitting. I just went through it too......again. I actually quit like 4 years ago......but then i took a very stupid 2 month vacation from quitting..........so i had to torture my family all over again. You can do it.........and I have one piece of advice for you. Everytime you want a smokey treat........take a nice long deep breath in and out, and tell yourself, "I am tobacco free!" This does two things........the deep breaths are very relaxing, and we seldom take deep breaths, unless we are exercising, or taking a nice long drag off a a cigarette.......and telling yourself youare tobacco free tricks your brain into thinking positively about this change.........it is proven that repitition trains yoru brain..........and yoru brain doens't really understand quit..........but it does understand I want a smoke...........so you have to trick it into thinking that it is happy it is tobacco free. Works so good for me. I bet it would work for dieting too.....hmmmmm............what could the chant be?

Sorry I have been so scarce lately........we have been swimming all day long, everyday. You should see my house and my laundry pile...... It's already 91 again, and the heat index is up to 100.........and it's only 11:30. What else can you do in weather like that, right? Anyway.......I am thinking about getting on the stick with mty health.............last night in bed, I started thinking about heart health.........and I did quit smoking and all........but there is so much more I need to do. I jsut found out my dear friend's malenoma has spread to her lungs (she is 38)........and it is a real wake up call to all of us. Life is so unpredictable............you really do have to take care of yourself in the ways you can.

Ok, I have to shut myself up and get some work done here. I will try and check in more often. You girls inspire me to be a better person..........and I miss you all when I don't take the time.

Jillian........I hope you are still working hard....you have been doing soo well.

Barbara........I love what you had to say about happiness. I feel the same way :)

Ok, really leaving now. I will check back soon :)
XOXO

Amy - cool idea with the rocks, but I'm with Jillian, my kids would have them all over the house and then my DH would have them in the trash and I'd be left with 2 empty vases (one broken probably)!

I watched a Bobby Flay episode today on the food network while working out and he was making philly cheesesteak, so tonight I'm making the LAWL philly cheesesteak for dinner, so easy and delicious!!! Can't wait!

Amy, I love your rocks idea! I felt like you about a high school reunion a couple of decades ago, but the idea does grow sweeter with time.

I went to the doctor's today for a physical, got weighed, and now I'm majorly depressed over how little of my weight loss I've managed to keep off, as I've been avoiding scales for a long time now (denial is not just a river in Egypt). Oh well, all I can do is start from where I am here and try to do better...

I live in LA and work in the media. That's about all I need to say for you to know how my day went today. I think all of us knew Michael Jackson wouldn't live to be an old man but still shocking. I used to do my ballet warm ups to "Thriller" and "Off The Wall."

Good morning friends. Let's make this a very good weekend.........whatever you do........whatever you consume........just add one more physical activity to you schedule. It is good for the mind and body.......and it helps keep us aware of our level of unhappiness :)

didn't do too great on my exercise this week, but next week am starting with a trainer... I'm scared... It will be twice a week strength training for 6 weeks. I will fill the other days with cardio. My kids will be off to Colorado pretty soon here, so I needed something to keep me busy! They will only be gone 3 weeks, but when they come back we won't have any sports going on for a couple of weeks, so I can accomplish this!

This weekend we get to travel for a 3v3 soccer tournament, it is so fun to watch because every kid gets plenty of shots on goal, I'm really excited, but we have to leave by 630am to get there in time... 3 games minimum. I wish I could play, it looks so fun!

I didn't make the philly cheesesteaks yesterday... gonna make them today and try a recipe for watermelon coctails :)

Nicole- That's great advice! I am going to get two work outs this weekend. My hubby is out of town so I have no excuse.
Tonight I am going for dinner with girlfriends but I am going to eat healthy. I may indulge in one or two glasses of wine though.
Tomorrow and Sunday I am going to do weights and walk.....

Yes so sad to hear about Michael Jackson and Farrah Fawcett. All the radio stations here are playing MJ music as a tribute today.

Okay have a great weekend everyone!

I found this on our wellness website at work and was surprised to read that you need 60-90 min a day to maintain a significant weight loss!

Be Physically Active.

30 minutes of physical activity most days of the week to support general good health
60 minutes per day if you tend towards weight gain
60-90 minutes per day to help maintain a significant weight loss
All physical activity counts. If you cannot always do as much as is recommended, try to do as much as you can

Well someone just bought our staff pizza' and DQ Ice Cream cake. Nice!!!!
But I stuck to my plan and had half a chicken breast with salad for lunch. Well everybody ate cake, I had a slimfast bar.
I am learning to get thru temptation but man its hard eh!
Okay well I was just having a proud moment because I survived the lunchroom!!
Have a great weekend!

Oh and Julie, now I have way more exercise to do if I want to lose weight...agh!

Happy Friday everyone!! Not much new with me. I'm having a hard time sticking to a plan - any plan for that matter - and it's making me nuts!!! Oh well, tomorrow is a new day. Not that I think I need to wait until tomorrow.

Joan - Great job on resisting temptation!! I hate when someone brings in lunch or treats to work. So hard to pass them up.

JerseyAmy - I really like the idea of the vases and stones. Maybe I'll put them in my bathroom so I see it every morning. Maybe that will help me with my commitment problems.

Julie - 90 minutes a day??? I'm lucky to get in 30 most days.

Kristen - Congrats on quitting smoking. You will feel so much better and wonder why you ever did that to yourself.

Barbara - I had the same wake up call yesterday at the doctor. He told me what I weighed and it appears I've put on 10 pounds since Easter!! Ack - what have I done to myself??

Liza - I can only imagine how busy you must be with all the news coming out of LA the last couple of days. Hopefully it will slow down a little bit for you.

Nicole - I don't think anyone would blame you for hanging around the pool on days like we've been having. Hot and humid. I just hope you're having a blast swimming with the kiddos.

To anyone else I've missed, Hi. Have a great weekend everyone. I'll check back in when I can.

I think the most important point there is that ALL physical activity counts. You don't have to spend 60 to 90 minutes a day in the gym. Park further from the front door to the store you're going to shop in and walk the extra distance. Take the stairs instead of the elevator. Scrub your bathroom, sweep your floors. It all adds up and is part of that 60 to 90 minutes! All we have to do is get up and MOVE :)

Congrats on surviving this.....I can't begin to tell you how much I hate our office parties.....there really needs to be an alternative to the pizza and cakes. Veggie and fruit trays? Maybe I'll suggest that as a nice add-on next time around. Although if that's available I think they're going to have a LOT of cake left over!

Exactly! It's a new day and time to forget about any past failures. Today we can do better....one meal at a time....one workout at a time....one pound at a time.....one day at a time!!

Hi everyone! Hope all is well and POP.

I've got a new hobby that I'm so excited about! Thursday night I started a series of classes on preserving the harvest -- there are six classes on canning and 2 classes on dehydrating foods. The classes are Thursday and Friday nights so I've gone to two of them so far. The canning is extremely easy and a lot of fun and what I'm really excited about is that we have a lot of farms and farmers markets where I can get fruits and veggies quite inexpensively and this will allow me to enjoy that yummy fresh taste all year long.....tastewise, food you've canned yourself just blows the doors off that stuff you get on the supermarket shelf. I still can't get over how easy it is! And I love the fact that it doesn't have a bunch of chemicals I can't pronounce. So far I've canned tomatoes, salsa, peaches, peach juice (saving this for a martini or bellini), plums, and mangoes. The dehydrating classes are at the end of the series, and I've already done some of this -- dehydrated strawberry slices make the most incredible snack, and are really good in oatmeal too. And dried pineapple is way better than candy! My hubby wants me to dry him some apple rings to snack on so I may pick up some apples for that today. Our instructor was telling us about this grower's outlet that has all this local produce at great prices so I'm going to check that out today. I'm hoping to get strawberries, tomatoes, cherries and apples today. We made and canned the best salsa I've ever had in my whole entire life Thursday night and I'm going to have to make more. I don't think I can go back to eating Pace now that I've had the good stuff!

Enjoy the weekend!

Hello to everyone. I have been on vacation this week and not had internet service since Monday. We have had some pretty violent thunderstorms and they have knocked power, cable, internet out all over the place. My vacation is almost over and I am ready to go back to work. I did not eat well this week but I did exercise everyday and do an enormous amount of household chores so when I weighed in I lost 3.4 pounds. I was so amazed. It really suprised me so now I am 4 pounds to wonderland and I am going to stay on plan and do my best to get those 4 pounds off as soon as I can.

Hope everyone had a great weekend. I will do better keeping up with everyone this week!!!

Congrats on your weight loss - great job! Sounds like lots of exercise and housework are a very effective combo :)
