Hi--
I need to buy a good yoga mat in order to start doing floor exercises.
Anyone have suggestions for a good THICK yoga mat? (what is considered thick and comfortable by mat standards?)
*brand names and/or links would be great!*

tea, you need a pilates mat, not yoga. Pilates is twice the thickness. You can still use it for yoga or any other floor exercises.
My husband just got a stott pilates mat, and it rolls easy and has straps attached. I tried it at yoga last night and it was fine.
I have a lulu lemon pilates mat. The two sides have different traction, depending on your needs. I roll and store it in a mat bag, (not to convenient, but I like the covering for the mat) or you can buy straps at the lulu store as well.
Until I got the thicker mat, I used to just use two yoga mats at a time, and that worked ok for the most part too.

there are thick, eco friendly yoga mats. the ashtanga yoga mats are thicker than regular ones. i have the manduka mat, and love it.

I also use an Aeromat and I love it. They are studio quality and work well for aerobics and crunches, too.
