Default Phase 2 Questions, Adding Carbs

I started Phase 2 yesterday. At lunch I added a 2" diamenter sickel pear. The pear tasted too sweet. I could feel the sugar hitting my system, not a good feeling. I ate the pear with tuna salad. I don't know what to try next. I bought some Uncle Sam cereal. Do you think I'll get the same result? The last time I was on the beach diet 4 years ago, I lost 38 lbs. I got careless in Phase 2. Needless to say I gained my weight back. I do not want to do that again.

I lost 4 lbs. last week. 10 Lbs. total for the 2 weeks on Phase 1. I really want to be careful adding carbs.

First, read this:

you'll probably want to stick with that fruit for the first week and then add a grain next week.

I haven't had any fruit yet. I've tried oatmeal and whole wheat pasta. Both tasted faaaabulous!

I found an oatmeal that was unsweetened and made from whole grains supposedly. I can't think of what it was called, but I got it at Walmart. It tastes really good and some flavors come with dried bits of cranberries or blueberries. Whole grain pastas treated me well, too!

If that oatmeal is instant then it isn't allowed on South Beach. I add my own fruit, cinnamon and Splenda to old fashioned oats. I've never seen old fashioned flavored oatmeal.
